  1. i found this LCD monitors review page from cnet which is very useful in filtering the LCD options out there in the market. just pick out the features you want (including your price budget range), and it will refine the results for you. you can even compare your choices to have a better insight on what to finally pick. and there's also suggestions on where to purchase your choice LCD monitor, if applicable. and since you're specifically aiming for a high resolution LCD monitor, don't forget to include MAX RESOLUTION in your filters. at the moment, there are 19 results for 2560x1600 to choose from. as rvalkass already mentioned, it's the highest possible resolution you can find in the market today. but of course, you can still look for much lower resolution LCD monitors. it all depends on your budget. good luck with your quest!
  2. i say keep it. it is always an option for a member not to partake of the ad revenue sharing here on Xisto anyway. one could simply not add one's kontera ID in the forums if the concept of sharing in profits generated by the kontera ads on one's posts is deemed not a good idea.add to this the fact that some members simply don't use kontera on Xisto alone. as we are in the hosting industry, and our members come in here to post and acquire hosting, members use them in sites they create also. now, if the opportunity to generate income from your posts in here can add up to the income generated from one's other sites, then it is a bonus i for one will not shy away from. come to think of it, you'll earn way faster if your kontera ID is included here. additional Xisto traffic is far greater than many of our member sites can generate alone on their sites. and the end result is a far greater opportunity to be more profitable too using kontera. we just need to learn not to be impatient. from a standpoint of running both google adsense and kontera, and comparing the income generated from both for december 2008, i'd say that i'm surprised to note that my kontera earnings are bigger than my adsense earnings. i feel i can far more easily reach payout with kontera than with adsense. and all because i am allowed to share in the revenues from the forum using kontera. :Pand opaque is so generous and we need to thank him for the opportunity. we earn mycents for hosting and other web services, and we also earn from kontera ads.
  3. i recently started using my mobile phone as a modem, and i use it only when i'm getting a 3G signal. it's much faster if the signal is 3G... sometimes it can even get 3.5G (HSDPA) signal [although my phone does not report that of course i just notice the faster than 3G speed]. if the signal i get is simply GPRS, that's when it slows down, sometimes even slower than a dialup.my network has a fixed rate for a 30-minute period (even if you consume the whole period or not, even if it's crawling in GPRS or somewhat blazing in 3G signal). it's Php10.00/30mins (US$1 is approximately 48 philippine pesos). exceed 30 minutes, and you get charged for another ten pesos. which is why i always set an alarm for every 29 minutes to warn me of my usage, and don't exceed the time allotment and get charged for time i don't use if i exceed. :Pmobile networks in our country are now serving wireless broadband using USB modems with their data-only SIMs (meaning it's dedicated for connecting online only, and can't be used to send SMS or call). as in the case of a mobile phone, it connects online using GPRS or 3G/HSDPA. what i don't like about it though is that you get tied up to them for a year or two, and if you want to discontinue the service before the contract is up, you got to pay an exorbitant disconnection fee.

  5. i suppose an automatic translation will not do for you then. you can try Wordpress MU if you want. that's a multiuser wordpress so you just need one installation. which leaves you free to concentrate on your 4-language blog versions, without needing to worry about individually implementing upgrades when the time comes.
  6. is this a school project where you need to have four different language versions of your site, and you need to make a good translation for each? if not, why not just use a wordpress plugin? it could be easier to simply activate one plugin and let it do the translation on the fly. try Global Translator if it fits the bill (you get not just four languages, but thirty-four! hopefully, of those 34, the four you choose are included ).

  9. are all your texts supposed to be in bold? they seem to appear that way to me.. a little fat... even for the content text (body of the articles). the lime green header is soothing and i like it. :)i agree with jlhaslip that you should look into the margins. some boxes are crowded, like in the sidebar, so hopefully you will make the margins visually uniform later on when you proceed with cutting the template up for your site.btw, you planning to use it as a wordpress theme? will you be releasing the design to the public?
  10. @mich: your mycents are up to $38+ already, so the system appears to have corrected itself for your account already. @willie: i thought yours was resolved already? in any case, it appears that when you get negative or ZERO mycents, the next time the system recalculates your new post contributions, it gets rectified in the process. some even gets some unexpected bonus in their earnings.

  12. nobody is immune to the effects of the mycents tweaking. even admins and mods (including me... from 62+ to 58+... more or less $4 difference) get our fair share of the loss. i haven't really posted anywhere after i got hit, so my mycents got stuck at ZERO. maybe the system is just waiting for me to post to correct the error when it recomputes itself. hopefully it has stabilized by now, and i would see some form of getting back the lost xistodollars in the process. i didn't even bother sticking up a ticket anymore since opaque is very much aware of the situation and will just deluge Xisto - Support as a result.keep your fingers crossed that everything will even out in the coming days!
  13. two ways to verify the cost of domain transfer (varies depending on your TLD):a: https://support.xisto.com/domainchecker.php b: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (choose second option: [ I want to transfer my domain to Xisto - Web Hosting (Xisto) ] ). as opaque already noted, you get PLUS one year added over and above your remaining registered period. so basically, you transfer domain and what you pay is simply another year of "ownership" added to your domain.
  14. i'm still on 0.2.149.27 Official Build 1583. i guess that is still beta. i don't think an automatic upgrade is available for my chrome, when it always shows that "Update server not available (error: 3)" for me. anybody got a direct download link for the whole thing [complete install only] (and without going through the hoops of partial downloads as before which is kinda irritating for a dialup user )??? please?
  15. when did you order the logic plan? takes at least a day for orders to be processed. they have to check your mycents and review your Xisto posts. after processing, they should be sending you the cpanel and ftp information via email. Xisto - Support Client Area has a "My Emails" section where a history of emails sent to you is stored. check that out if the emailed information you need is not anywhere on your inbox.alternatively, under "My Products & Services" section (also on Xisto - Support Client Area), you can review product details of your processed order. and somewhere along the end of the page you'll see login details (username and password) assigned to your hosting account. if all things fail, set up a support ticket to inform xisto of your predicament.
  16. @willielwgg: you using firefox? you have the adblock plugin? that is most likely the culprit, in which case you'd be needing to "disable" adblock for that particular domain (kontera.com). while you're at it, disable adblock for Xisto.com as well so you can have a glimpse of how this works on our forums.
  17. @ruben: i'm replying via fast reply. (dunno if that is "quick reply" enough for you).
  18. @adriantc: what error did you get when ordering? if you just registered, you need to wait 4-5 hours for the forum and xisto billing to synchronize your mycents and kick in. it seems it has already kicked in for you since your earnings are already showing. try again but just make sure you have enough funds to purchase the package you want. otherwise you'd just be told you have insufficient funds or whatnot. if your funds are not enough for an annual billing, you can get hosting on a monthly billing cycle instead.
  19. YES WE CAN! wanna send it by paypal, eINK? i made an edited mp3 version which i'm using as my mobile ringtone now. every time i get an SMS, i sing along with it.
  20. you haven't purchased your hosting yet using mycents? have your hosting transferred the soonest as credit system v2.0 is turning moot and outdated, and will eventually be scrapped very very soon, what with the mycents in place already. hence, you won't be needing to track credits anymore.
  21. okay, my votes have been cast. good luck to all nominees.
