  1. has this got something to do with the forest fires somewhere in the california area? i seem to have glimpsed of forest fires in the news earlier...the linked article doesn't seem point out the cause of the power outage.
  2. FotoSketcher v1.5 turns your digital photos into beautiful sketches or paintings in seconds. *FREE *INTUITIVE GUI *INSTALL version or PORTABLE edition available for download http://fotosketcher.com/ post sample creations you do here if you like
  3. i'm positive they are simply doing this project of sending names to the moon so as to bring NASA's space efforts to the public. they get an extra media mileage, and they generate public interest and anticipation for the original LRO project mission's success. a novelty of sorts perhaps, but you know how space scientists and engineers are... they have their own quirks. perhaps like the coders and software programmers of all kinds placing their easter egss on their products, so do the NASA scientists and engineers also need their own brand of fun (in connivance with the human race, for the benefit of aliens).
  4. by the end of this year (if fate permits), my name will be on the moon! and so can yours, earthling! Send YOUR NAME to the MOON! (and extra-terrestrial explorers will find it soon on the moon in the distant feature... ) LRO, by the way, stands for the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter commissioned to conduct investigations and preparations for supporting lunar human exploration in the coming years. for more about the LRO mission, go to https://lunar.gsfc.nasa.gov/. and to sign up with your name before the deadline, go to http://lro.jhuapl.edu/NameToMoon/index.php a certificate of participation awaits you.
  5. too bad that it is no longer free for quote some time, but it is also closing very soon...
  6. topic re-opened as per original author's request. apparently, it's an ongoing problem which is going ON and OFF at random... and still need to be discussed further as to its resolution.
  7. i can visualize Ka-Wing's punchline... but only if the elephant split the chair exactly in two, and he stay plunked in the middle of the halves. nevertheless, i would agree, it's really the time to get a new chair. LOLZ
  8. google search results of several keywords relevant to what you're looking for is narrowed down to four pages. as i'm not familiar with the particular recipe you're looking for, narrowing your search is as much help i can give. check if this one can be particularly helpful to you.

  10. nice catch, ajant. i haven't found any cache via google or via the way-back-machine at archive.org to link to either, so it's a lost cause. as the site linked is now dead, we close this thread. i will simply refer beginners to Xisto to know more about our forums and the system we have for hosting via our trusty README: http://forums.xisto.com/index.php?actE=01&HID=18
  11. did you happen to change the template/theme for your wordpress-powered blog, or heavily edited it? if it's just the displaying of the categories which is the problem, the theme you're using could not have the proper php code to call them, or you have mistakenly removed them while editing. solution is to bring that code back into your php file/s.if the categories you have created are lost within the database themselves, i cannot seem to fathom with certainty why that happened. there could be a malicious plugin you could be using which rendered the categories to revert back to the uncategorized "category". although that is highly unlikely of course, but not impossible. maybe try disabling your plugins in the meantime, recreate your categories, then reenabling your plugins one by one, and see how it goes.another possibility is that you may have inadvertently dropped the tables for your categories within the phpmyadmin, if you have been using it lately. tell us of your progress on resolving this.
  12. flagged for admin's attention, just in case BH or Opaque can figure what's the issue here. in the meantime, you can raise a ticket via Xisto - Support.com, since they really are the one who have access to the servers to resolve this. at least both fronts are covered for this problem (via Xisto - Support and via our forums here).
  13. if you experience such, your IP could be blocked by XISTO. ask Xisto - Support.com for unblocking. multiple failed FTP/cpanel access due to inauthentication issues (successive mistakes in username/password) usually prompts the server to block IPs which it somehow perceive is attempting hacks on the system.see attachment for a screenshot of your site, as proof your site is working, at least on my end. you can attempt to view your page using proxy sites to see it on your end, to verify. if you see it, work on the suggestion above.

  15. UPDATE on pending HOTLINK PROTECTION issue which i elaborated here: after a prolonged delay, Xisto - Support reports that hotlink protection issue is finally RESOLVED. hotlink protection can be enabled now, without producing the previous .htaccess error. addon/parked domains can now be added to the URL list also for this feature.
  16. those interested may download a FREE EBOOK from SITEPOINT entitled: FIREFOX 3 REVEALED -- What's New, What's Hot & What's Not, by Fabio Cevasco it's a short ebook (30 pages in total), so it won't take long for you to breeze through the entire ebook, and hopefully learn (and appreciate) firefox 3 more.
  17. it depends of course on whether members could know what forum script you are trying to use. after telling us that, the least the members can do is point you to a relevant tutorial or resource. if you get lucky, and some have spare time on their hands, you can even request a debugging of the theme/skin you are having a problem with or perhaps make one for you. for starters, here is an Invisionfree Skinning Tutorial * Skill Level: Easy, just in case it falls under your needs.
  18. @rpgsearcherz: takeover.trap17.com is working... (i read on the page that your site is under renovation...) @oxida: morbid-design.trap17.com is working... (albeit, it shows an image which says "Onderhouds Werkzaamheden -- Excuses voor het ongemak" --- whatever that means) admin buffalohelp has advised members on this thread:
  19. did you not forget to tick the boxes for the privileges you are to bestow on your db user? that's the usual problem, insufficient db user access rights... apart of course from incorrect db username and password.
  20. i was able to bring my sites back up after a cpanel password reset courtesy of Xisto - Support ticket. you may need to wait a little while for them to address this, if you venture this option instead of going through admin BuffaloHelp. my ticket was posted 24 Jun 2008 07:06 PM and someone from Xisto - Support replied back on 25 Jun 2008 11:00 AM -- this is to give you an idea of the time it took my ticket to get noticed with a reply. and yes, no credits required. but since BH is offering his assistance to expedite resetting of our individual cpanel passwords, and could possibly be faster than Xisto - Support, and without credit deductions -- just post your request as BH stated. the better the chance you can have your sites back up online in the least amount of time. i can attest that all files and DBs (up to the date of last backup by xisto) are not lost on my account. things i did after i got back my access through cpanel: -- added back my addon domain (if you have a parked domain, add them back too) -- added back the user for the databases (you have to supply the username and password which your DB is supposed to use. if you forgot them, you can refer to the config files you have in the scripts you're using for your site); applied back the necessary privileges to the DB user as my scripts require -- added back the subdomains i use (check your folder structure via FTP or file manager to get a glimpse of the folders created when you added a subdomain before, just in case you forgot which subdomains you had before) PENDING: -- hotlink protection cannot be enabled, and can't add the addon domain i have on the list of URLs to allow access. apparently, the old list i created before is not part of the backup restored, and this will be populated as you add subdomains from above. disabled by default, but error encountered in enabling this feature. as i haven't used the other features in cpanel such as email accounts, forwarders, autoresponders, cron jobs, and the like, i can't determine if some information you have got lost therein too. you have to check those for yourself too.
  21. at the moment, i share your sentiment with regards to the cost of cpanel password reset, Echo_of_thunder. having credits in the minimum (barely a week's worth at any given time), i'm adamant in giving TEN credits away to the system (which does not need it anyway). add to that the fact that some reports are coming out of the woodwork that even after a manual reset, they were not able to receive their new passwords. i don't want to feel shortchanged if i ever experience that, so i'm not risking my 10 credits at the moment. i will wait for my Xisto - Support ticket to be addressed on this account, that is... i'm hoping. only if this step fails will i contemplate on making a go with the manual reset provided here on Xisto. :)out of frustration too, i'd be willing to sign under a petition on removing this requirement of 10 credits for a cpanel password reset, if there happens to be one now or later. credits are like diamonds for me... i'm a miser, i'll hold on to them the best i can. besides, i wouldn't want to be spamming the forums with nonsense just to earn credits for a cpanel password reset. or would i? it's up to opaque.
  22. all hosted sites affected so it seems... can't a SERVER-wide restoration of ALL accounts be made since i believe there is an existing backup for all? what happens now is that a default page appears, instead of our sites. is that what's supposed to happen? i just wish all my files and DBs are intact. can't verify if my site is intact though because authentication fails for both FTP and cpanel. went to Xisto - Support live chat, and jeff seem to be very confident that my sites are safe, but i needed to submit my domain infos to shree for resolution. i guess shree will have to deal with ALL of us, one-by-one, this time. that's what live support seems to be able to provide us for now, shree's email. and since all cpanel authentication details fails, can't the server send us a system-generated login password instead? i'm quite certain that i have my email address filled in when cpanel asks me for mine, as i'm sure all others have done. can't the information be sent that way? i haven't tried generating a cpanel password for myself yet, using the one pointed out by Opaque (https://support.xisto.com/) since a cpanel password reset costs 10 credits, and my credits have not yet reached that amount having only 3 credits to my account. can the password reset 10 credits deduction be waived, Opaque? i'm also alarmed that i may just be wasting the credits i pay for the resetting, if i don't get the information forwarded to me thenafter, just like in jlhaslip's and DeM0nFiRe cases. oh well, i suppose i'm just ranting now, having still this unresolved problems after 3 or 4 days. i was just complacently awaiting for this thing to resolve by itself, but now i'm just frustrated. i've prolonged emailing shree this long, since i know he'll be deluged with emails and i know he's trying to resolve things for us, but i guess i can't wait any longer and would have to be part of the wave of emails shree has to contend with.
  23. for my experience with FF3, so far so good. no freezes, no lags, no apparent problems. and out of 20 extensions i use, 15 are working... a big thanks to their developers of course for bringing their updates in sync with the FF3 release. of the remaining 5, i should wait for an update, or if not replace them with a similar tool soon enough (i'm sure there are better alternatives out there, which i haven't checked in a long time). a huge difference with FF2.xx is speed and memory use of course. but if that is not a "selling point" for you to upgrade, then just stick with the old version. Hidden FF3 easter egg: about:robots
  24. unofficial results (awaiting Guinness World Record official validation and confirmation): Over 8,000,000 FF3 downloads in 24 hours... [counter is still running for the downloads, but i would suppose they won't make it to the official count anymore after the 24 hours ] not bad, eh? at least some love came the way from the microsoft campus, in the form of a cake sent to the mozilla team congratulating them on their FF3 ship day! (click image below to enlarge) note: the IE cake shown above is not standards-compliant... and any missing ingredients will be sent later after a PATCH has been baked. lolz
  25. i did not make a pledge (as i'm sure many others did not also )... but i'm participating with FF3's Download Day (as you know, many others more who did not or were not able to make the pledge like me will likewise do). Total Firefox 3 downloads worldwide update (up to the time of this post): 1,845,814 (and RISING... FAST!) [data sourced via SPREADFIREFOX.COM] don't forget to get your FF3DD CERTIFICATE! have it, FLAUNT IT!
