  1. Have you tried telling them that it's not just their lungs but everyone else's too? Also, if they need harder proof, take them to a doctor or even better, take them to several doctors so that they have scientific proof of the damage they are doing to you. It has been proven that second hand smoke is way worse than just smoking so it's a big deal that they don't listen to you. In fact, it probable that them smoking has actually caused your asthma. If they don't want to go to doctors then you could do an experiment, make some sort of filter and get the cigerette smoke to go through the filter to show them the amount of dust that goes through the filter. You can also go online and find information about smoking, including images of what happens to your lungs. Another thing would be to take a white rag/towel/paper towel (damp, not wet) and wipe one of the cabinets or the side of the tv or any hard, dry surface really and you'll see how much smoke is just caked onto everything in the house (trust me, i know, i had to clean a motor home once).I really hope this information helps, good luck, and i'll be praying for you.
  2. Wow, I didn't think there was really anything I could do about the calls on my cell phone. Thanks for the link, this will surely help tons of people combat spam that hits you in the ears rather than the eyes.
  3. haha, very nice, would definitly be helpful; however, i'd prefer not to draw on my screen, be great otherwise though!

    I'm Frustrated

Have you tried running the game using directx 9.0b? Sometimes the computer may not show you the correct version, but the game would still run, i've learned from experience that usually if you are within a somewhat close range the game should run, I don't follow minimum specs all that much; however, if the game doesn't run, I would suggest going to the directx website and downloading the 9.0c package from them to install, the link is below. Click me for dx9.0c hope this helps
  5. hm, interesting topic. Well I guess some daring things I do is rock climb, paintball, ATC rid, wakeboard, and kneeboard. Other than that I can't really think of anything else. I used to go roaming around in dry rain pipes, but I think that's about the most daring things i've done.
  6. I think my favorite house pet would be either a cat or a maltese-poodle mix dog. The maltese-poodles are small and adorable and don't shed much. They are even cuter when you get the run because they don't get longer than 8 inches and are so cute. And cats are good because they are calm, and just like to sit around not always play.I love birds too; however, they don't make good house pets because they are too loud and messy.
  7. I would agree with limits. Now obviously it is true you can pretty much learn how to make a nuclear bomb from the internet (I know exaggeration, but you know what i mean); however, if the child doesn't want to learn while on the computer and instead just play games or surf the web (and I don't mean the good side of the web) then it can become a problem. I would only encourage my child to be on the computer if he/she was going to use it to learn, not to just play games or idly roam the internet.
  8. I would use MD5 too, I forget the php function that can actually hash a password to md5, but yea, it's an easy way to do it; however, it's not hard to find a program that will crack the hash if a hacker find the hashed password so don't make the hash easy to find.
  9. Not to be mean, but I prefer to stick with the current system, otherwise people would just build up credits, buy the hosting and not post for awhile; thus, killing the point of the Xisto system. The system in place keeps people active in the forum so more, and more helpful content is added daily rather than in bursts every couple of months or so.Also, the credits represent how many days of hosting we get, so 250 credits wouldn't be fair anyways, because that would only be worth 250 days of hosting rather than 365, so everyone would be going for that deal instead of just getting 30 credits and getting hosting and paying the 365 credits a year. This is just my view, I hope I wasn't mean, and if I was, I apologize.
  10. ooh, very cool. It's pretty nice to see the storage you are using all in one place; however, you can also see the space used at the bottom of the page in gmail, probably in picassa as well.
  11. I've learned this lesson as well, I once dated a girl online, only to later find out she was nothing like what she told me (I was 15 or something at the time, we met in a chat room). Now my brother is doing the same thing, except he's lasted about a year now, it's really unhealthy, she is taking over his life and he won't get to meet her for another 10 months (she lives in the UK, we live in western US). Sometimes it may work out, but a majority of the time, it seems the internet relationships never work; however, meeting someone online to meet them then getting to know them off-line would be a better idea i think.
  12. Well, I believe we are real, mainly because if we weren't there would be nothing we could do anyways. I believe that "we are" because God created us, but not necessarily in the literal terms from the book of genesis, but more that he created the big bang and the physics and molded everything we know today into what it is.
  13. Wow, I knew hackers could view data transfered on a network, but it never really occured to me that they could use those packets to get my information. Thanks for the warning, i'll be sure to be much more careful when connecting to a public network.
  14. Well, this is an interesting story. My view would be that he should be charged with their deaths; however, not for manslaughter, but a lesser crime since he couldn't stop it, but I think since he had a part of it eh should be charged for it. Like if a cop was chasing him and ended up crashing and dieing the theif would be charged for the cops death as well. I think in any crime, if the someone is injured or killed, the criminal is at least partially at fault wether he/she could stop it or not.
  15. I would fully support a law that made sure parents were being parents as long as it didn't overstep it's boundaries (such as invasion of privacy). I do beleive that there are many people out there who should not be parents and I wish they would be caught before their childeren undergo irreversable damages. A class might help, but i don't think it'd be as effective as we would hope; because, the people who aren't going to treat their children right aren't really going to care what a class teaches them. Unfortunatly, I can complain about bad parents, but I can't think of a real good way to fix the problem without invading privacy or costin tax payers too much money.
  16. Well, I started learning C++ in 7th grade when I saw one of my friends' programs she made at IBM. After seeing her program I became interested in programming and my dad had a C++ book that I took up and read whenever I could. After a year, I borrowed my friends OpenGL book then I got one for christmas so by 8th grade I was programming visual applications. I took programming 9th and 10th grade, but it only taught me a few basic techniques, nothing really too helpful since I had already made the final project before school started. Now I still use C/C++ for my games, I never took a real class so my code isn't pretty/efficient, but I have fun while coding.
  17. well, there are many topics about the wii already, but I might as well post anyways. I think it's totally worth it. It's affordable, small, and revolutionary. The controls are unlike any other system you could get and are definitly the main topic of talk about the wii. Some advantages are that the wii gives you excersize in some games (not all are full of excersize), such as wii sport. So when your playing your working out too (though, don't replace your excersize room with it, at least, not until you get wii fit). It's also a very family oriented system. Unlike other systems, you actually want to play with your freinds and family on it rather than keeping it to yourself. It's also got a very comfortable home screen where you can move all the channels around too. It's also a very light system and easy to carry. Some downsides are that the wii remote batteries don't last too long, I would suggest rechargable batteries or you can get some recharge packs for the wii remote (I saw some at walmart, pretty neat, but i already have rechargable batteries). Also, there are not many online games for the wii yet, as of now, I can only name pokemon revolution, but there are more coming out. Packing isn't all that fun (but I don't think any of the other systems are fun to pack either). It's definitly not a system for hardcore gamers (they always complain about graphics).Hope this review helps, but next time read other reveiws, there's millions.
  18. I read about this a couple days ago. It's very interesting, it's also comforting, at least to me it is. I would like to know if my relative was about to die, even if it were a cat telling me, if it had a streak like that I would definitly believe it. It's just another one of those things that shows you just how much more intune animals are to nature than we are. It is pretty amazing.
  19. I use avast as well, my favorite and only anti-virus program i use. It catches everything, since i've had it, i've not had one virus (unless you count the low-end ones i make, no worries, they don't spread). I've had several virii downloaded to my computer, but avast caught them all, definitly the best in my opinion.
  20. I think he was comparing the doppler effect to the effect on light when the light source moves. If the source of light moves towards us, the light moves towards the blue side of the spectrum; however, if the light source moves away from us, then the light moves towards the red side, that is how scientists are able to determine approximatly how fast the univers is expanding. This happens because as the light source moves away the light waves get extended and the period between waves is longer, therefore it goes red, so it's just like the doppler effect except with light.
  21. My pure instinct would definitly be to run, but i'm sure after it caught up i'd be thinking, "i had better just lay still". *laughs* suddenly the movie "without a paddle" pops into mind. Anyways, it's very good information for hikers and campers, but, i'm more worried about snakes where I live, but that's why I already know to make lots of noise while walking around, you want the snakes to know your coming, they can't eat humans . Good information though.
  22. I finished the book last night, i thought it was amazing. There were times where I had hated the book (because of what was happening in it), then there were times when i loved the book. The ending was completely unpredictable, even I had no idea it was coming (and I can usually spot that stuff pretty well). It was definitly, in my opinion, the best book of the series. Edit: the black is a spoiler, do not highlight unless you have read the book (I thought it would be hidden, not have its color changed) Definitly loved it, and it kept on the edge the whole time I read it. Had it been a couple years ago (when i was a major fan) I would have been crying through half of it.
  23. well, since I have a gps hiding in my back seat, if i got lost i'd just whip it out and tell it where to take me; however, I hardly ever get lost, just.. sidetracked . If I didn't have a GPS though and I was in a different country, i think i'd probably go to the nearest hotel and ask them, but if I went traveling I'd have some way to communicate with everyone.
  24. Very cool, defnitly using this, not sure how much help it is just yet, probably not at all since my internet is slower than my network anyways, but non-the-less helpful. Great if your running a server on T1 internet i suppose. Also, I'm not positive, but I think i'm running XP home, but there is a chance it's media edition, do you have the option at all in home? or does it just not take effect?
  25. Well, I try to get at least eight hours of sleep a night, on school nights i go to bed at around nine, but usually don't fall asleep until eleven and wake up at 6:30. During the summer or vacation I've started a schedule where I usually stay up until about midnight and then try to sleep and i wake up at nine. But I don't get a whole night of sleep usually, i never sleep throughout the night, so I guess i probably get about seven and a half or close to eight unless i had more sleep earlier.
