This is very cool. I wish I could compete; however, unless I can get a couple of illegal fireworks to shoot a supercharged wireless camera a few hundred miles to the moon I'm out of luck (that does sound like fun though). Yea, I'm sure it will be some college that wins though, there are alot of colleges that do alot of things like these (one of which happens to be down the road). Will be very cool for us google users to see what the robot sees though.

Homework helps embed what you learned in school by making you think about it outside of school as well so you don't just leave and forget. Homework is a very good thing (I'm a student as well so don't think i'm just some adult who has no idea); however, teachers shouldn't just give it out every night because they can. I think that teachers should only give homework if there are students that don't quite understand the work or they have just started to touch on something new or they couldn't finish the work in class. If a teacher gives homework just for busy work it turns students off and creates bad feelings towards the "teacher that gives too much work". Just my view on homework

The thing i like about school the most is being able to see my friends. I also love my computer classes. I think the best advice for a teacher is to associate what they are teaching to the career pathway that the student plans on going. This is what my school is trying right now, we have academies (scient & tech, medical, bussiness and human services, and fine arts). The medical academy is incredible, the students from that academy leave high school ready to be a doctor in like 8 months, it's truly amazing; however, the other academies haven't quite caught up. I think that is the best advice for an incoming teacher to get kids motivated, teach them the material in a way that they can associate it with their lives.

I played line ride a long time ago, it's pretty interesting, but I have other stuff to do so i don't really play that much; however, I would think it would be awesome if they made it so you could ride from the sledders perspective and add a 3D element into it, but I know that they would probably not do that. Anyways, it is a great game when your bored out of your mind and you feel like being creative.

I highly doubt that there could possibly be more whales than insects. There are so many insects in the world that there is no possible way that there could be any species that would have a greater population than insects. As shadowx said, just one colony of ants had millions of ants in it, and that was just one colony. If you count the countless colonies in the world then the number would be astronomical, I don't beleive the amount of whales needed to overpopulate insects could fit in the ocean, or on this planet for that matter.

Wow, thanks! The one for removing the right click is a must need for me as at school it gets very annoying when people keep turning off the right click and the teacher can't even fix it. I'll definitly be showing him this and getting my machine fixed. Thanks a ton!

Anyone Have Experience With Autocockers? (paintball)
t3jem replied to rayzoredge's topic in General Discussion
Well, I use a spider vector, and I do chop paint alot, but i think it's the combination of cheap paint and a cheap gun that i don't take the best care of. As for my tipman, it's never chopped paint or jammed. I think alot of it has to do with how you treat your gun and how much it cost. The more expensive guns are more precise on measurements and won't chop as much. I'm not sure how much your gun is (i don't keep up on gun brands and stuff), but from what it sounds like is it might just be a cheap gun. If it is an expensive gun then I would get it checked out at the place you bought it or another paintball place. As for the oiling subject, I would ask the manufacturer to be dead sure they said not to oil it. If they do say not to oil it, then don't , it could jam the gun if something swells.I hope this was helpful. -
I would suggest devC++, it's good for getting started because it's free, I don't use it because i have the hundred dollar compiler from microsoft, but it's still a pretty good compiler. Go here http://bloodshed.net/dev/devcpp.html and download it. Good luck learning!

Um, honestly, i'm 17, my brother is 16, and even though sometimes we get mad at each other, we haven't had a physical fight in 2 years. Now, I don't mean to be rude, but you guys sound like 2 little kids that are no older than 12. Yes, he should not have gotten in your way while you were working; however, if he was starting to turn off your stuff you can either calmly try talking to him, or you can just take your stuff and leave. You could have even pressed charges; however, now i'm not sure as you retaliated, but next time you should keep your head cool, ignore him until he starts to impede your progress rather than just tell you to stop working. When he gets in your way, leave, if he tries to stop you, or breaks something you can press charges.

I doubt he did it solely to show how much his taxes are. I'm sure there are thousands of people with more taxes than that, mainly in the upper class. To pay in coins is really pretty selfish, if you don't like the taxes then move, there are places with extremely cheap taxes. It's really unfair for the person who has to count all the change he sends them too.

You should apply as early as you can, this way you get your response as early as possible and you can then decide how you are going to pay for it. I'm not sure how it is with the colleges near you, but the college here will automatically select scholarships for you if you send your tests scores to them; however, they don't check all the scholarships, mainly just ones they pay for, so make sure you look for other ways to pay as well. Also, apply to any college you are even considering, it's ok to be accepted to a college and still not go, this way you can choose from all the colleges you were accepted at and decide which one to go to.I hope this helps.

haha! That's awesome, the only problem I could see is that the ice cubes may not melt fast enough to make the explosion of regular mentos. Since the mentos provides little holes on it's surface for the gas to form, when the mentos finally hits the coke I think most of the carbonation sites would still be frozen over and be much slower; however, it would be awesome if it worked like normal.

Sat Thoughts, How Did You Do On The Sats Scholastic Aptitude Tests
t3jem replied to etycto's topic in General Discussion
I thought the SATs were easy, at least the math portion, but i'm just a super math wiz. The writing and reading was a little harder, but I was was a sophmore in highschool when i took it. My scores are below:Math - 680 out of 800Reading - 540 out of 800writing - 470 out of 800I'm a senior now and I'm thinking about retaking the SAT again.I think that the SATs are important, but college admission shouldn't be based purely on it; because, as said above, some kids can get the grades without really learning anything (hm, reminds me of me a little). Also, somebody said above that some colleges only accept ACTs and therefor ACTs are more important; however, there are also colleges who only accept SATs so it is important to look at the colleges you plan on applying to in order to see which test to take. I think the SAT is easier because the questions are from easiest to hardest so you know to look for trick questions the farther into the test you go; however, the ACT the questions are random, but some people do better with that too, so it's up to your skills to see which one to take. -
U S Military Mistakenly Flies Nuclear Weapon Over The Country
t3jem replied to Saint_Michael's topic in The Vent
I read about this earlier today. This is extremely scary. What if it wasn't just a transport plane, but instead they were testing some bombs in some vacant area (as i'm sure they sometimes do). When they go to test the "normal" bombs they find that they aren't "normal" at all and that they just blew up half of Utah or something. This is very disconcerting that nuclear weapons can accidently be replacing regular weapons. -
haha, it may be from the fact I haven't made a website yet, but my website is worth 0 dollars, haha. Well, it'll go up soon enough when i finally put up a website (just as soon as my game goes into beta). I'll definitly keep this bookmarked, It's definitly a cool little tool.

Relief For Bug Bites using Plantain or white mans foot
t3jem replied to Mistikpso's topic in Health & Fitness
This is awesome, I have tons of bug bites right now and they get very annoying. The one thing I would ask for, though, is what the plant looks like, could you give us a picture and where to find it so I know how to get it? -
Wow, you could totally store 5% of the internet on that harddrive! Haha, if I had that harddrive i'd never run out of space.

That sounds alot like your tuition teacher was trying to scare you into doing good only, even in private.

I use trillian too, I really like it. The only problems I really found in it is that you can't transfer files to/from msn users and the IRC service doesn't seem to work, but neither of those are a real problem for me. Also, if you don't buy it then you can't video chat, but again, not a big problem for me. It is very nice to merge all your chat programs into one though, makes it much simpler and easier on your CPU.

People Who Don't Punish Their Children are bad parents
t3jem replied to Mermaid711's topic in The Vent
I completely agree with you. I'm a Senior in highschool so I do know what it's like to be punished as a kid. And I must say, I'm glad I was spanked for some of the things i've done. It's amazing to me how some parents treat their children. I was actually on a houseboat for a week with a family that had two kids. Now they weren't bad parents, but they never really punished the kids. If the children wouldn't come onto the houseboat the parents would give them a treat to do so (which is a bad idea as it would teach the kid to ignore their parent until they get a treat). I have also seen some very bad kids as well. Like the ones who think they're all that because they can trash can some kid at school and I wish that their parents would have done something about it.I myself would have turned out so stuck up I wouldn't be able to bare myself had I not been punished seeing as I came from an upper/middle class family raised in a lower class neigborhood. Punishment teaches your kids to behave and to be humble. Now I understand people trying to ban spanking to prevent abuse; however, sometimes children need to be spanked, just not in excess, but in severe instances (such as acting out or stealing, or hurting others). So I completely agree with you. -
The idea that matter has always been there seems plausable only because something has to have been there before everything else. It is a very tough debate to find how everything was started. In my opinion, it was all started by God, who may not even be made of matter or energy, but merely an entity that can control the universe. I beleive in the big bang theory; however, I beleive it was God who enabled planets, gravity, life forms to occur. There is no way that the complex phisics we deal with today just randomly happened, it had to have been planned.

There is no absolute proof of life after death, there are of course the people who die and then are revived, but what they see (i.e. the light at the end of the tunnel) could be seen as halucinations from lack of oxygen to the brain. I beleive that God will bring his followers to heaven with him at the rapture, but I understand that you are looking for proof rather than theology.

Struggling With Pimples And Things That Worked.
t3jem replied to technobot's topic in Health & Fitness
Wow, thanks for the information, I would have never thought that my soap could help cause pimples. I'll be sure to get better soap from now on, thank you! -
I completely agree with you. This is disgusting, we already have tons of children in foster homes and no families and here he is just having great fun producing more. There is no way these kids can have a real relationship with their dad, I can't even name 40 people, how does he remember the names of all his kids?
