Opensuse: Stop Asking Root Password
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to wutske's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Welcome to the secure world of UNIX. It's meant to do that, that's something Windows was missing for years before they finally introduced their best attempt called UAC. It's still flawed, it's too intrusive. I love this password required system since I can always click cancel if I didn't mean to execute the process that can harm my system if I don't use it properly. That's part of the reason why UNIX has been so successful at security compared to Windows. Microsoft is getting there, but it still has a long way to go. UNIX had this system since the beginnings of UNIX.I always advocate against turning off the UAC unless you REALLY have to.deltatux -

New Google Earth, Version 4
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to pyost's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Umm.... that is very possible, most communication satellites are already geosynchronous. Especially for satellite TV. Thus, it won't be hard to have picture-taking satellites to be geosynchronous. Also, there isn't much problems with Google Earth since most of the satellite pictures are so outdated, it's funny to look at it. Some locations are completely wrong. Google Earth & Maps never got my house address correct. They think I'm like 5-6 houses down the road.... lol, it makes me laugh none the less. xboxrulz -
Ya, usually I never go with OEMs because they have funny hardware that gets to become an issue when you're not running Windows. This is the reason why I build all my systems with ASUS motherboards and compatible parts. Never had a broken ASUS build nor do I hope I will ever have a broken ASUS part.As for having multiple operating systems, I just virtualize them all. Just get a good dual core or quad core, and you'll be fine to virtualize the extra operating systems if you don't need 3D support.xboxrulz

Possibility Of A Google Os ?
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to jwcgator's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I wouldn't even think Google would charge people for it since they support tons of open source software and many of their technologies have been opensourced. That, or they just make it available for free. The only few services I can think of that is fee based is Google Earth Pro/Plus, Google Apps (the higher versions) and AdSense.xboxrulz -
To date, the only thing that interests me to get a PS3 is Metal Gear Solid 4, else to me it'd be a dead weight.xboxrulz

Technically you can, although this is technically not illegal, download a torrent of the install disc, reinstall Windows Vista with the serial number provided at the bottom of the laptop and activate the serial number by phone (serial number cannot be validated via Internet since it's OEM).RAID includes AHCI. As for the IDE, I have no clue, the IDE driver should be included. However, I don't use Ubuntu Linux so no comment on that part. I usually use OpenSUSE or Fedora Core.xboxrulz

You need a clean installation of Windows Vista since it never installed the AHCI driver. It is better to keep your system in AHCI than IDE because it enables all the SATA functionality. IDE is just for backward-compatibility sake with the other hard drives but if all your internal hard drives are connected through SATA and not ATA then you will be fine by using AHCI.However, Windows Vista needs to be reinstalled in order to do so. That's what I did when I found out that my BIOS defaulted to IDE and not AHCI. (I reinstalled it after my system had system issues.)xboxrulz

This would be the only reason why I would get a PS3. Maybe that and it being a cheap Bluray player. However, that still doesn't justify a $499 price that I have to pay. There must be a lot more things I want to do on the PS3 for that price. Right now I'm happy with my Wii60 combo. However, Metal Gear Solid 4 is one of the hottest looking game so far for 2008.xboxrulz

Internet Calls: Pc To Phone Suggestion...

I use Skype extensively (and use it for text more than calls) but still it is one of the better networks out there.xboxrulz -
No, it's best to avoid using that webhost. Be sure to join well known webhosts to ensure that you won't get hacked by blackhat hackers.xboxrulz

There is no maximum credit. Just post as many as you can, the credit goes down per day, just make sure that you maintain at least "10 days" left when you return so the system doesn't start notifying that your credit is low. Please do NOT spam to get those 100 credits. Thanks, xboxrulz

Which Operating System Is Better? Its a poll
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to swinkid's topic in Websites and Web Designing
lol, what do you mean by very weird system for UI applications? All MacOS X applications draw their windows on top of Quartz Extreme, which is part of the CoreImage API. You can write 3 types of programs on MacOS X: Java, Carbon and Cocoa (the latter is the most recommended one). Cocoa is powered by using the Objective-C language and you can access every part of the WindowServer with ease and make even better effects and integration to the MacOS X operating system. As for Linux, yup, still #1 for me, even though I moved on to MacOS X (due to lack of time to tinker with the system and I just love the eye-candy on MacOS X).xboxrulz -
I highly doubt that Microsoft is going to release any more service packs for Windows XP because I'm sure that they rather spend the time and effort on Microsoft Windows Vista and their upcoming Windows 7 operating system. However, I won't be surprised if they released small updates.xboxrulz

Alright, I'll try that and see. Thanks for the info.As for accents, I have a US English keyboard so accents are out of the question. That's just my variable name and wasn't supposed to be a dictionary word.xboxrulz

I tried getting it as an integer before. Failed doing that, I was looking at my classmates' notes, he got it in String, so I guess that's not the true issue.xboxrulz

I rather use Mozilla Firefox. However, it's not the best browser because it's so bloated and slow. Opera's rendering engine is mediocre at best, but fast. Safari is great, but the problem is that not a lot of people support the browser since not a lot of people write support for KHTML/WebKit.If people start supporting WebKit, I'd move my main browser there.xboxrulz

Windows Xp Sp3 Available
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to Atomic0's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm right now running Windows Vista x64 SP1 and hasn't been unstable at all. Have yet to get a BSoD on this machine. Nor have I got any hardware problems on the 64-bit versions either. Windows Vista has matured enough for regular use, I'd say. However, it still can't touch MacOS X in terms of speed. MacOS X w/ 2GB RAM still beats my Vista system with 4GB of RAM and both are dual cores and have the same clock speed for RAM.xboxrulz
