As for the openSUSE Linux forums, try http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. I used to be a regular there when I was really active with Linux. However, with time constraints, I wasn't really cruising around with Linux a lot, like the basic stuff I knew so I didn't need the forums as much. xboxrulz

Cpu Upgrade But It Doesn't Work
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to DecemberPhoenix's topic in Hardware Workshop
Make sure that the golden arrow is aligned with the one on the motherboard. Failure to do so will cause the processor to not work or burn up. Please also make sure that you apply proper amount of thermal grease before installing the fan and turning on the computer or else your CPU will FRY on the spot. Failure to reapply thermal grease after you dismount the heatsink off the old processor and pop the heatsink on to the new one w/ out the new thermal grease will kill the system. More info: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ P.S: Your chipset does support a Pentium 4 2.66 GHz Socket 478 processor: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/chipsets/chipsets-overview.html xboxrulz -
Upgrade Windows Service Pack Issues

Ummm... try contacting Microsoft Support for this issue as it is a person-to-person issue. As far as I know, this problem is rare and I never encountered it.xboxrulz -
This is debatable. The easiest and restrictive Linux distribution I found is Linspire. After that, would be Ubuntu and then OpenSUSE (easy but not restrictive). Linspire treats the user like how Microsoft does, treats you like if you're an idiot. I recommend OpenSUSE if you want to learn about Linux and your computer in general without having to use a textbook to learn the system and Linux, it's quite simple and unrestrictive.xboxrulz

installing Flash is quite easy on OpenSUSE, it's already included in the distribution, that's how easy it is. Just pop in the CD, use YaST2 to install the proper packages. Just search for flash player.xboxrulz

Maybe you should just replace your CDRW, they aren't that expensive anymore. A good LG DVDRW is $30 compared to back then when DVDRWs were much more expensive. I say that the learning experience that you get from using Linux and actually have the will to learn is greater than any operating systems I've ever used, including FreeBSD, which I'm learning right now.xboxrulz

I prefer matte screens as well for laptop and desktop LCD screen because it takes a lot less cleaning and it's not glaring. Like I clean my desktop screen which is matte every 3 months and clean my laptop screen every 2 weeks, like wtf? My old laptop's matted screen can last 2 months without cleaning!xboxrulz

If you're unfamiliar with Linux, Gentoo is highly NOT recommended due to the fact that the distribution is next to building your own distribution with a lot of options and compilation monitoring required. If you don't understand how Linux works yet, I recommend you stick to OpenSUSE, Fedora Core or Ubuntu. I don't like the latter, a bit too restrictive and no real room to grow. xboxrulz

Your Service provider : Rogers Communications Inc.Location : Toronto, CanadaPlan Details : Rogers Yahoo! High Speed ExpressUp speed : 512 kbpsDown speed : 7 mbpsPromised : 7mbpsReceived : 6.98 mbps downstream / 507 kbps upstreamSatisfied : not really because the price is so expensive and Rogers isn't always fast. It's because it's using cable and so it is shared. Sometimes it can drag to 2 - 3 mbps which is horrible for gaming in today's era. However, the competition isn't any better. Bell is known to have crappy customer service, but it does have fibre optics. Unfortunately, it's not available in my area yet.xboxrulz -
Notebook Or Laptop? Whats the difference, if anything?
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to Sarah81's topic in Hardware Workshop
There's no difference between laptop and notebook. Since both of them mean the EXACT same thing. So don't worry. However, it does sound funny if I said I have a gaming notebook. So for me, notebook is for work and laptops is for general use but they don't have a difference because the two words mean the same thing. It's just a different connotation.xboxrulz -

As long as they fix the stupid glitches in the multiplayer I won't mind playing it as my primary online multiplayer. It's the only turning me away from the game. I just hate glitches, makes the game annoying and less fun. Other than that, I pretty much like the game.xboxrulz

iWeb will publish your pages into a folder, then you just simply upload it to Xisto. iWeb is just another web designing software for the Mac platform. Please try it yourself. Unfortunately I can't confirm this since I do not use this software, even though it was bundled w/ the system.xboxrulz

My Own Os Good Idea
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to givn1405241478's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I have no intention to insult you. Like you, I'm just expressing my views and these are not the views of Xisto. What I mean by 3D desktop is what you said of Beryl and Compiz. They provide 3D effects to the Linux/FreeBSD operating system. Obviously this is about dreams, but I'm just saying it's just impractical. I will apologize on my own behalf that I insulted you, but I have no intention of mocking anyone. I'm just feedbacking, that I see is that the idea is just impractical even if we tried it. Unless, we find some crazy way to make the code super efficient. It may actually happen if it's open-sourced. I'm sure it could be done if work on operating systems were free and didn't cost money to produce. As for hosting, Moderators have no power to monitor that section, that must be dealt with by the Administrators as they are employed by Xisto. Moderators are just volunteers. xboxrulz -

that is impossible. There has yet been an operating system or software that is free of minor defects.xboxrulz -
Keyboard Video Mouse Switch Heres how I use it...
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to vujsa's topic in Software
KVMs can be very useful, but I tend not to use 2 desktops at the same time since that'll use too much electricity. For me, I switch between my laptop and desktop by having both of them running at the same time. The laptops takes a lot less energy to power even when it's revved to fastest. So for me, KVMs are quite useless.xboxrulz -

Umm... lancer, Linux does a lot of things you listed above. Like the art applications and a 3D desktop effects. Obviously it's senseless to have the operating system to be navigated like if it was The Sims. It's not reasonable and it is not necessary. Design would be on the epic proportions and will take too much system resources. People will rather use that resource for something else ... like video games or just simply make their computer even faster. It's not that it can't be done. It just doesn't make sense.About password encryption and file compression, that feature existed in Windows XP since day one. It's also supported in MacOS X and Linux as well. As for accessing your files over the network and have a browser-based word processor. Again, it exists. A great example is Google Docs.xboxrulz -
The sweet thing about GIMP is that it's quite similar to Photoshop in functionality and best of all it's free. Unfortunately, it does contain a good chunk of features that professionals need, but then again, it explains why Photoshop costs so much in licensing it.xboxrulz

Any Gmail Alternative
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to Ashraful1405241560's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I prefer Yahoo! Mail, not too bulky, unlimited amount of email storage and has AJAX support all over the website. I would recommend it over Hotmail anyday. Another interesting webmail provider you should look into is GMX, it's like Yahoo's offering, but has been proven to be quite as (or even faster). You should give it a try.
