  1. It really reminds me of the Windows XP start bar: the lime green and the fading blue background. The title banner is in an entirely different style to the rest of the site. The main area os clean and smooth yet the banner is busy and random, and an entirely different shade of blue. The two look like they were made separately and then put together as a last thought. The titles for Top Sites etc are in a different font to the link bar at the top and different again to the banner. One main font generally works better. The grey background also doesn't go. Replace it with a blue to match the rest of the site.Sorry if that sounds a bit too harsh, but generally the truth is better
  2. My site has loads of images on it and I never get anywhere near my bandwidth limit. Its a nice idea, but I doubt many people would ever actually need to purchase more bandwidth.
  3. I like both real time and turn based stategy games. I enjoy playing the army system and some similar games, but I also like playing games like Age Of Mythology and the other RTSs.They are not just a 'clicking contest'. There are large amounts of thought and logic that are needed to play the games, and they are also more involving and pressurising on the player. The army system takes a few clicks once in a while to attack other players, yet with RTSs you get to see the battle and change your strategy throughout to increase your chances of winning.
  4. Its a great game. Incredibly realistic considering its free! The one annoying thing is selecting a game to play and then being locked out while you download an update to the game!
  5. I used it on my last computer, but I haven't got around to installing it on this one yet. Some of the things you can get for it are quite good, but its better just to have one or two, otherwise your desktop gets a bit cluttered.
  6. Like most people here I can see nothing wrong with the aesthetics of the site. Perhaps a little bit more colour, but only hints here and there of the blues, would look quite effective. The code is all a bit jumbled up and padded out, and it should be brought up to the standards of W3C. I've never been a huge fan of iframes as they lower compatibility. I've also been asked to redesign or make websites for my school, they have a separate one for each department Two of the briefs I've had have been "Make it flashy, but don't use flash, its too slow." and for the other one, we had just finished making a leaflet for the department, using Publisher, and the brief was "I like this leaflet, do the website exactly the same." For reasons of sanity I couldn't make the site in Publisher, so I had to take the whole theme out and do it manually If they want the site a bit more 'active' then I would suggest using flash or perhaps some small, unobtrusive JS, but don't go over the top! Its very easy to get carried away using thousands of pointless JS that no-one actually wants.
  7. I'd get a little worried if, literally, my entire life was contained on a mobile phone the size of a credit card. I would continually be paranoid of losing or breaking it. I like all gadgets except mobile phones. The phone element seems to have taken a back seat to other weird functions most people wouldn't have a use for or don't need replacing.Plus, putting a mobile phone into an ATM would be a bit worrying, surely there is a risk your entire life could just get chewed into a pulp, or scanned by those fake fronts they put on the ATM.
  8. There are enough problems at school with people sending text messages and playing games on mobile phones without people trying to watch the latest episode of Eastenders in the middle of an English lesson! I think that eventually the whole mobile network will end up getting overloaded or becoming really slow. It was never designed for the Internet or streaming TV shows to people. I'm about to get a new mobile-everything-except-the-kitchen-sink and its amazing how many new features have been added since the last time I looked at the mobile market.
  9. If the index.php file is unwriteable you need to CHMOD it to 0777 (or just 777 depending on the program) while you edit it, then put it back to what it was before so that it can't be edited again.I don't use Joomla so I can't provide specific instructions. Just go into your FTP program and find the CHMOD option, and CHMOD the index.php file to 0777 or 777. Then do whatever it was you were trying to do. Once you're finished put the file back to the numbers it was at before.Hope this helps you.
  10. This game looks excellent. I remember playing something similar a few years ago, but it was quite complex and didn't have as many different features as this is meant to have. I like playing games like The Sims and all those other simulations, so I'll probably like this one.
  11. I agree. This program just looks like Paint, but has the added feature of being able to export your designs and add hyperlinks to them. Just look at the demo site! Personally I think either pen and paper or a whiteboard are best, or a graphics tablet if you are really obsessed with the PC.
  12. I like Avalon's purely for the reflection in the glasses, I think it just looks great!Saint Michael - 1Samma - 0Avalon - 2Acidglow -0Mayank - 0Reaver - 0
  13. Riddle 1: I'm also confused by a spherical mansion :PRiddle 4 is "Queue"Riddle 5: Their surnameRiddle 8: He used a submarine?
  14. We got a letter sent home a few weeks ago saying how much homework we were meant to get each week, and it worked out at over 16 hours per week, over 3 hours a night! The worst is English as it takes a lot of 'thinking outside the box' and coming up with weird comments and notes that you would never come up with outside of a lesson.
  15. My elvish name comes out as E?l Calafalas. My surnames a bit of a tongue twister! I also tried putting my elvish name in, to get a "double elvish" name, which was Elessar Elendil.
  16. I've seen these before. There are belts, hats, Frisbees and t-shirts, and all of them are totally pointless, way overpriced and just weird looking! Wouldn't you feel a bit stupid wandering down the street with some random text scrolling across you?
  17. In my local supermarket there has been a sign up saying Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year since early September. On TV there are way too many adverts saying exactly the same thing. I understand some people like to do their Christmas shopping before the 'mad rush' but its just getting earlier and earlier. Soon, the Christmas period will start quite literally in the January sales.Having said this, the Christmas season for me doesn't truly start until the Coca Cola Christmas ads are on telly and its pitch black outside at about half past three.
  18. The co-ordinates for Area 51 are: Latitude: 37.24 Longitude: -115.816 It can be seen very clearly in both Google Earth and World Wind. Many people say it has been 'blotched out' as a large white dot, although Area 51 is actually on a dried up salt lake, which is the white dot. The runways are south of the salt lake going roughly south east. There are also a large number of buildings to the west of the runways, although these have not been photographed at high enough qualities to be identified as anything but squares. I have a screen shot of the area in World Wind, along with the relevant information here if anyone is interested.

    Hey :)

  20. There is a way to get around the confirmation problem, simply by instructing the browser that the window was actually opened with javascript, regardless of whether the window was or not. function NoConfirm (){win = top;win.opener = top;win.close ();} Now replace: <a href="javascript:window.close()">Close this window!</a> ...with... <a href="javascript:NoConfirm()">Close this window!</a> and it should work. Feel free to ask if it doesn't!
  21. Its great to see that cleaner vehicles are being used more widely in public transport and by the government. They need to be setting an example to everyone else, so this should encourage people to think about cleaner cars and other ways to be green.
  22. Woah, 1TB per second is incredibly fast. We're only just getting a few MB layed down, but I can't wait for 1TB!This must mean that more powerful graphics and games can be played over the Internet with a 1TB connection? That would allow for some very smooth and high quality gaming. Then again, it must cost an absolute fortune to install and to receive monthly!
  23. This is the code for disabling right click: <script language=JavaScript><!--var message="Function Disabled!";function rclickIE(){if (event.button==2){alert(message);return false;}}function rclickNS(e){if (document.layers||document.getElementById&&!document.all){if (e.which==2||e.which==3){alert(message);return false;}}}if (document.layers){document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN);document.onmousedown=rclickNS;}else if (document.all&&!document.getElementById){document.onmousedown=rclickIE;}document.oncontextmenu=new Function("alert(message);return false")// --> </script> Change the line that says var message="Function Disabled"; to contain your message.e.g. var message="You are not stealing my stuff"; Hope that helps.
  24. Much better than anything I've been making. I like the font, could you possibly provide a download link?
  25. OK, I've tried to keep the same colour throughout on this one. I know the render is random, but I like orange and M&Ms I tried to solve the 'empty space' problem that I had last time with a sort of 'ghost image' of the render. Personally, I think the text is a little hard to read, but lets hear what the experts have to say...
