  1. Joomla is probably the best open-source CMS out there. With just a little bit of experience, you can build an easy to navigate site, complete with forums, a photo gallery and whatever else you could think of. For developers (which I'm not), you are given a powerful framework to build your applications on. If you have never used a CMS before, or are thinking about trying another one, give Joomla a shot, and you'll see the difference.
  2. Windows Media Player 11 is the bomb. The somewhat redesigned interface looks sharp and functions intelligently. The updated sync functionality is much better, as is the burning tool. Library seaches display as you type, and are updated instantly.
  3. You should probably go to your local wireless store and play with real, working models of each phone. That is by far one of the best ways to pik a phone.I'd go for the Razr, for good looks, and for the size of the phone while open. It's long and wide, which is better for larger-handed like me. Also keep in mind that each carrier has their own firmware for the phone, so you will notice differences between AT&T and T-Mobile Razrs, even if they have the same Motorola model number.
  4. If your home experiences a power surge, and your equipment isn't grounded, then your computer will short out (or fry in other words). Having a ground gives the excess electricity a place to go, other than through a shorted circuit.Having a surge protector and a grounded line each accomplish their own thing, but work together. Your computer has a ground of its own if it is connected to to a grounded outlet, but the surge protector keeps the surge from reaching your computer.Keep in mind that cheapo surge protectors don't do as good of a job at absorbing surges, so go with a good brand like Belkin or APC.
  5. My (former, now that the school year is over) chemistry teacher plays some crazy kind of poker on Thursday nights I believe. He says that the money he gets from my school is poker and gas money (which makes a bit of sense, considering he teaches at three schools, and only one class at mine).
  6. It's kind of difficult to describe New York City in words, but it's also almost unecessary. NYC is a mix of lifeless commercial areas, "suburbia" (tree lined streets, but not really rural because there are stores within walking distance), "the big city" and other types of residential and commericial neighborhoods.Manhattan is basically where tourism is centered around, but is also the most expensive place to live with NYC. Rent is amazingly expensive, which means housing and goods cost more. However, Central Park is close to many residential areas, with other nice parks scattred around in other areas (Bryant Park, Riverside Park, etc.).Quick fact: The borough of Queens is the most ethnically diverse 115 square miles on Earth.
  7. Several years ago, the floor of my extrondinarily small room was covered from corner to corner with all sorts of random things. Over time, most of the stuff has either found a place in my closet or the circular filing cabinet (aka the garbage), and I'm beginning to feel a lot more responsive toward messes in my space. Some of the various productivity sites, Lifehacker in particular, have led to improvements in my organizational habits. This article may be of interest: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  8. Wearing a seatbelt is supposed to make you part of the vehicle. If you are not wearing one, you become a projectile, and can injure both yourself and others if you fly out of your seat in an accident.I'm utturly bugged by the teens who put the upper portion of the seatbelt either behind their backs or under their arm, as opposed to the normal way of across the chest. It's probably more comfortable in the proper position anyway.
  9. I didn't mean that we should get the RC or beta right now. At the the point that cPanel 11 is stable, all the bugs worked out, etc., will Xisto transition to it?
  10. Wit the upcoming release of cPanel 11 in the coming weeks, does Xisto / Xisto - Web Hosting plan to upgrade to the new version? I have taken a look at the demo on cPanel's site, and it really does look impressive, especially the new file manager. Xisto doesn't seem to be following the latest and greatest these days, but this looks like a surefire way to get more customers and retain current ones.
  11. Adobe Premiere Pro can easily do this task (relative to the other tasks you can accomplish with it). Instructions if you happen to have it:1. Drag the clip from the Project window into the Source monitor.2. Find the point in the clip that you want to start at. Click the Set In Point button.3. Do the same for the end, just with the Set Out Point button.4. Drag the video fom the Source Monitor to the timeline.5. Create a few titles using the blank, default template. Add your text where you want it to be.6. Drag the titles from the Project window and place them over the timeline. Adjust the title lenghts to match the video.
  12. I am somewhat duly impressed at the upgrade. The new User Control Panel looks sharp and is well organized, compared the the one in version 2. It reminds me a bit of the administrator console in SMF.The pos screen looks a bit better too, but there aren't many real improvements. Mostly just the same elements rearranged, with the addition of the file upload panel.
  13. It's unfortunate, but I've been cracking my neck for at least a couple of months, and now I can't go very long without doing it over and over again. My neck feels stiff, and if I try to hold it in for a couple of minutes, I feel like I'll have have a headache. Are there any at-home remedies for neck cracking?
  14. Google specifically bans hidden info. That includes the example you mentioned above, as well as making the text the same color as the background. Just be aware that users with stylesheets turned off and who use text-only browsers will still see the text.
  15. Throughout the almost one and a half years I've been here, it's been a pleasurable experience. Haapy anniversary Xisto!
