  1. Hi I am really interested in home based education with different methods of support. I am interested in anything from grade school, high school and college. I am really interested also in self study such as reading online tutorials on subjects such as math calculus etc. In a general term I am looking more for individual subjects compared to a online school but am also interested in online schools. Another aspect is what is available for free and also for pay. I got thinking of this as I am studying programming from books and online tutorials and would like to upgrade my math abilities. Anyone have any good information pertaining to self education?
  2. Credit bank idea tweak. After reading the above it might be interesting to have a credit bank that is mostly used for users going on vocation. So say a user is going away for a while he can activate the vacation bank. So instead of a year it might be interesting to have two or three months with the vacation bank. On another note there might be a credit cost to use the vocation bank so say a month is 30 credits the bank will say be 20 or 30 credits to use and will automatically deduct 30 credits a month to say for two or three months. With the vocation banks still on it will deduct say another 20 credits for a two or three month bank and again take the 30 credits a month for the next three month vacation bank. Also the vocation bank may require a activation post. This might be a workable solution.
  3. Hi to start I used to work summers with my Sister and Brother in laws small business. I have learned a lot from pertaining to sales, marketing, inventory control, and most importantly cost management. My brother in law actually pulled me aside one day to talk about this as I thought it would be nice to have stuff that was not really needed. Anyways this is more about small business survival and profits. The main rule is do not spend business money unless you have to and also unless it makes you money. Now looking back on this from a long time ago I think this is the only reason his business survived as they where selling Italian movies which did not generate huge amounts of income. With his being business cheap he actually survives for a very long time and it was more like they had there own job for decades. The result was that they had better pay checks that a engineer. Without the cheep approach I do not think they would have been able to do this. Now another aspect of this is for the first few years a new business does not really make money but with the business cheap approach your business and personal income will be enhanced as apposed to going deep into funding your business. Another aspect of this is also what you buy. For example if you use say a folder that costs $0.50 and can find one for $0.10 this will make a bit of a difference but on a overall scale it will make a huge difference. I hope this helps some of you as I know it works.
  4. Hi, Quick question I had the same problems a few months ago but figured out what was going on. It was really ho that month and could not fall asleep till 1 or 2 am. Anyways I bought a fan and found out that I was not falling asleep till the temperature dropped. Also a long time ago I my dad bought me some Malatonine as it supposedly removed plaque from the brain and stuff. Anyways Malatonine is also a herbal insomnia remedy and must say it seemed to do a good job of putting me to sleep and also I found I had incredibly good sleeps. Hope this helps.
  5. Hi I live in Canada and we have one of the best health care systems in the world. Yes I can go to a hospital for free. Yes I can get treated for free but there are some serious down sides. Fist off non essential medical things are not covered. For example a guy got a pace maker implant and after a while it broke though the skin and was hanging half way out. Well he wanted this fixed but because it was classified as non essential they wanted a poor old retired man to pay $40,000 to fix it. Now there is a good side in that if something bad happens to use we will be treated. Now the worst part is the taxation required to keep this care working. We have about 5 lotteries that helps pay for the health care but this seems to still come short. I do not how much of are actual tax is for health care but we have extremely high tax rates here and the scary part is that it keeps going up more and more every year which is getting scary. Politicians keep saying something has to be done as they recognize the taxations problems but no one want to go down in history as the guy who killed health care. Personally I want are health care to stay the same fill more of my money goes to that tax man instead of my pocket. I am glad we have good free health care here in Canada but shatter the myth that it is free as the taxes for it are bleeding us dry.
  6. Firefox being slow on Ubuntu is a known issue and has been discussed on the Ubuntu forum for a long time now. Apparently other distro"s do not have this problem with there versions of Firefox. There is also a Swiftfox version of the browser that is supposed to be quicker. I installed Swiftfox using the Automatix installer. I also read some tricks on the Ubuntu forum using about:config to tweek some of the network settings which helped a lot of users.
  7. Hi I have a old P4 1.6ghz and am am thinking of getting a core 2 duo as a bare bones upgrade. I have been doing some research and am currently look at Asus motherboards. Now I have noticed a few things about the motherboards as the older affordable ones have limited upgradability. However I have noticed that the ones that are a bit more expensive have greater upgrade options with processors ranging from core 2 duo and core two extreme. There are also other motherboards that are tagged as Quad core compatible. I would look into this as if they can actually socket a Quad core you could possibly put in a quad in the future. I am a Linux user so Asus and Gigabyte are a mainstay for motherboards. Western Digital build solid hard drives. I have a LG DVD=RW which I havent had a single problem with. As for video Linux users prefer Nvidia for better driver support I am still shopping for parts and learning from past mistakes I am going the upgradability way as I was getting a new box every 8 years of so. This way I can always put in new parts when there prices drop to affordable levels.
  8. Hi I was at a bar about a month ago and this has been nagging me for a while now. A lot of games seem boring or rather lack the energy some people like. Hockey is ok but has low stores, and sometimes the action goes back and forth like a tennis match. Soccer is a high energy game and very interesting. Football is very popular. Anyways I am thinking of a new sport that consists of many things that may gain the interest of sports fans. The base idea stays very close to soccer but with a lot of differences. Now there will be a soccer type ball as apposed to a football or rugby ball as the main way of moving the ball will be by the foot as in regular soccer. Now this is where it is way different, You can use your hands to catch the ball, you can use your foot to pick up the ball with your hands as in tipping it up from your foot to your hands. You can travel a few steps with the ball in your hands, anywhere from say 3 to 5 steps. Now during this carry you can kick the ball like in football. You can catch a incoming ball with your hands and either kick it back or drop it to your foot. Also again with the 3 to 5 step carry a player can lob the ball with his hands. Now this brings into affect a lot of skills and game play that is not available in other games. Now I would like to stay away from American football line but this might be a feature of a dead play that would hopefully rarely be used. Now as for score there may be a few options but I like the basketball type approach where say there is a net with a goal keeper and that may be worth say three points per goal. Another aspect would be an extension of the goal which I am currently thinking of a American football type field goal think but it would only be worth one point. This brings into play weather a player want to go in for the three pointer or try a field goal for one point. This will result in a high energy high score game with a lot of strategy/ Also player changing should be similar to hockey with a specific side line area where players can come in and out of the game. With the set up of the high energy aspect of this game a player would not last for the hole game. Also body contact should be limited in a way to limit injuries as players. Now one important aspect of the this game is that the end result should be a high energy game with very high scores per game. Things should be constantly moving with players putting out 100% and lastly fun to watch. "Don't blink you might actually miss something. Anyways anyone have any ideas for this.
  9. With the portion size diet your stomach will eventually shrink a lot over time that may help with feeling hungry and eating a lot. This takes time though but a lot less time than loosing the weight.
  10. Hi it might be interesting to make a new game section that deals with gaming on Linux. The main features will be games that run natively on Linux distro's and a sub section dealing with games that will run in wine in Linux. Also it might be nice to have other gaming options such as parlor games and web games that will work for Firefox etc
  11. When I was younger I had a lot of problems with pimples. At first I tried using Oxy pads but found they where very hard on the face. I also tried a pad that removed oil and dirt from the face which helped more so than the Oxy pads. The best results I achieved in the struggle of dealing with pimples came when I started using Nitrogina face soap as apposed to regular soap on my face as regular soap can cause a lot of problems on the face and make pimples worse. Nitrogina soap is actually designed for use on the face and does not have these problems. The down side of this is this soap is a lot more expensive than regular soap. Now just about any soap designed for the face should have the same results and could greatly help in the struggle against pimples.
  12. Hi I get a lot of build up in my hair and have come across two things that helped a lot. Years ago I bough a tea tree shampoo that removed a lot of build up. As I rinsed my hair after shampooing I saw like black lines of build up going down the drain. I think that using actual tea tree oil will work even better than this shampoo. Just the other day I washed my hair with tomato past and was amazed in that it it became very flexible and soft and also seemed to remove some build up. I am very impressed with the results after using the above on my hair as I have had problematic hair for a very long time.
  13. Hello I came across this by accident a very long time ago. I was in a store and they had some coconut butter cream on sale for cheap so I bought a small container of it. Now later I used some on my face thinking it was just like a moisturizer. Anyways the next day I was amazed because the cream seems to tighten the skin, got rid of wrinkles etc. My skin also looked a lot healthier and made me look a bit younger then the day before. I was very impressed with the results and think it might work even better as you get older. This might also work on stretch marks but do not have stretch marks to test it on. Cheers and look good.
  14. Hi I discovered this a long time ago and it works rather well. There are a few tricks to keeping cool on a budget as many do not want to buy a AC unit and those in apartments who do not want to pay the land lord a large monthly fee. Now main thing that a ceiling fan does is eliminate dead air or rather it keeps the air in the house moving. Dead air in your house can cause you to bead and sweat. Now you do not need expensive fans but they should be able to keep the air moving. Your main focus is the areas that you spend most of your time. Where you watch tv, sit and read, etc. Now the ceiling fans do two things. They keep the air moving in the rooms which will keep you cooler. The second is it will eliminate layers which will eliminate a very hot layer up higher in the room. Now the biggest thing to help you sleep during a hot wave is a ceiling fan over your bed. I found this is even more comfortable than having air conditioning in the bedroom. Now one of the aspects of this is that the moving air will keep you cooler than say air that is not moving. Another aspect of this is during the winter months as the fans on a slow speed will keep the air moving and even out the temperature in the room where the air near the ceiling is hotter than the air at the floor. This is worse with baseboard heating. This can also save a bit of money but more so make you more comfortable. There is on other trick consisting of window fans that go into you windows. You can have it either blowing in or blowing out. You should also have a window open to allow for free flow or have two window fans. One blowing in and the other blowing out.
  15. Hi I have been playing Anarchy Online for a few weeks now and is pretty fun to play which makes it to addictive. Now I use the wine program to play it in Ubuntu Linux which works rather well thought I found that the best way to launch it is with a sized windows options which fixes some problems such as not seeing the bottom line. There is a post on the Ubuntu forum on how to install it and configure it. Warning this game is very addictive.
