oh. i absolutely HATE most police officers. i don't think excessive force is limited to one area of the world either. within a 4 month period of time, i was unarmeded and had guns drawn on me twice by multiple police officers. once in missouri in november, and once in california on christmas night. the first incident, i was released within 1/2 hour. the second incident, i was released within 5 hours. i have witnessed so much with the police first and second hand in the united states. it seems that excessive force is their right when they are sworn to uphold the law. we don't even have people who can monitor police officers here because in most of the states, it's against the the to follow a police officer and it's too easy for them to arrest you for obstruction of justice or stalking. the police are protected and they are all loyal to eachother not to mention lie in their reports to ensure a conviction in court. they will go to great lengths to break laws their own selves if they know nobody is watching and it takes an abundance of evidence to even charge a police officer with anything because they are "experts" at what they do. when i was sitting in jail the last time ready to be released after no charges were brought to me, i saw some girl having a seizure on the floor of the police station. they dragged her by her feet while she was having a seizure and in to a cell. i waited for medical attention to arrive but they never did. what probably happened to her was her charges were dropped and she was released later because the police don't want that incident to be brought up in court. so things happen to innocent people. BAD things at the hands of professional police officers who should have been trained better and the innocent people out there who are victimized have very little recourse.now in the video, in this thread, i believe the police officers were wrong. but i also feel the lady was wrong. when they were trying to restrain her, she was still trying to move around. at the same time, i think the police officers were trying to instigate something with her so she would continue to fight for her rights even though when a person is arrested, they should go willingly. i really admire both those women in that video. they were not only standing up for their own rights, but the rights of others and they paid a price doing it. the problem in this world is that there aren't more people like those two women in this world! people are stupid! it's just like if someone witnesses a RAPE and they don't report it. the same person is going to continue to rape others. that is SAD! people need to stand up for their rights and freedoms and liberties. i don't know about other countries, but here in the united states, our constitution and declaration of independance and bill of rights ensures that we CAN fight for out rights, freedoms, and liberties, and even justice is mentioned in our national pledge of allegience. it's supposed to be a country of citizens "of the people, by the people, and for the people". instead....in reality, we are in a police state where the police can use excessive force, arrest people for any reason, and charge people with crimes they didn't commit. sorry. this just doesn't happen in one country......but all over the world......and it's bad!

ahhhh1 that is good to know rvalkass! thank you! now i take back my post since we have this option of putting it back the NORMAL way :)i didn't think we had a choice. good deal! -
i have never heard of any dharma's laws but i agree completely. people are so selfish or concerned about what other people think and societies expectations, it limits them in finding out who they really are and it's virtually impossible to know ones true self when you are limited by those distractions in life. i always try to preach to people in finding their unique gift or talent. something that is strong inside them that they are guided to use wether they follow it or not. and i also agree that we are born with such gifts and talent for a reason and it is not to be used selfishly for any reason and we DO need to serve the people and the world from being who we are meant to be whether it's a comedian who was born to make someone laugh or a professional sports person to give entertainment on other peoples day off to relax and enjoy themselves. we do all have a talent and i love how you put your post. it was so easy to read an understandable, short, and to the point. it's what i have been trying to say to others for years.....

a lot of companies don't require you to show proof of your education. especially ones that only require a high school diploma. personally, i feel high school is a waste of time if you can pass the tests required without spending 3-4 more years in high school coming out of jr. high. that's 3-4 years out of your life when you can be doing something more productive or if you know you aren't going to go to college or just don't have the ability to go through 3-4 years of high school(some people can't). to me it's all the same. there are positives and negtives to both sides. i feel if you have to ask this question in the first place, my recomendation is a g.e.d. neither one is rocket science. if someone isn't planning on going to college, getting a g.e.d. can mean learning a trade that much faster rather than spend countless hours learning about the basics. what i DON'T recomend is not learning the basics at all. i wouldn't get a diploma or go to the g.e.d. classes just for the diploma or certificate or because it's needed for a job(it's not usually!). i would get it just to learn the basics and be a little more well rounded as an individual. but! i know a lot of people who never graduated from high school who seem to be smarter and more educated than some people who have. rpgsearcherz- if you're a manager and would rather have someone work with you if they have a diploma, that is pretty scarey because i have met some really stupid people come out of high school with a diploma as a manager, you should really just judge by his qualifications and what the person can actually do rather than a piece of paper. that is my opinion. i went through high school and some college. i was always told by people that an education will get you a better job. those were all lies. although they can HELP, it's FAR from gauranteed. for most jobs...is science class gonna help me? no. is a history class going to help me? no. is an algebra class going to help me? no. is a creative writing or advanced english class going to help me? no. is a p.e. class going to help me? no. is a religion class going to help me(for those private school students)? no. the classes FAR from help someone in every day life. the exception is that going to school every day for years takes discipline and creates a routine. this could help someone when they do finally get a steady job. but even if someone never even graduated or even completed the g.e.d. classes doesn't mean they are stupid or doesn't have discipline or doesn't have what it takes to actually do their job well. personally, i feel we are all fed a bunch of lies as kids just to satisfy the expectations of society.....even the expectations of parents and family. now a days, if a person doesn't graduate, they are made to think like they are failures in life. it's pretty sad. school is not a bad thing, but it's not for everyone and i hope society and people change to accomodate those people where a standardized education is not the only option and if they do anything but a standardized education, they will not be looked down upon!

i absolutely HATE the first post being on every page. it's the most ridiculous thing i ever heard of. posts or conversations are supposed to go in chronological order. also, if we want to view another page, we have to see the same post over and over again. whoever had this not so bright idea needs to rethink it because it's the most ridiculous thing i ever saw! yea, sometimes when i am reading the thread, i am curious what the original post was about. but having it on every page is worse than having to click on the first page. come on. it can totally throw people off if there are multiple pages. -
it's WD, not WB! and it's 3 periods, not two commas haha. i am here to help you. call on me anytime

Beware Of Fradulent - Phishing E-Mails
anwiii replied to OpaQue's topic in Alerts, News & Announcements
exactly! it's the same thing i was thinking. phishing is good when you have a high profile site so the chances are when you send bulk email, you can snatch up 3 accounts a day or so depending on the site being phished. xisto is NOT a high profile site. so now it makes me wonder who the people are that are being targeted. do they have xisto member emails? is it an employeee? was xisto ever hacked to get that information? can it be verified that more than one email has been sent out or that only one email has been sent out to put a scare? this is not a normal m.o. for someone who wants to go phishing. like i told opaque. looks like xisto definately has an enemy here. xisto would be one of the LAST sites i would phish from if i was a hacker. when you see a site in your inbox like buffalohelp gave as an example... , if you hover over it and look at the address bar, you can usually see the true location of where the url is pointing to. wd- you don't have to check the full headers. that is a waste of time! you just have to check the link that you are being directed to. usually, it's ok to even click the link. instead of it taking you to "edit.xisto.com", it would have taken you to a site called something like "xxisto.com" or "xisto-members.com", etc....something to fool you that you are at a xisto site but really aren't. so all you have to do is check your address bar and make sure the site you are on is the site you actually wanted to go to. checking headers is a waste of time. it's just good to verifiy where the email come. in some cases, the headers aren't fully accurate either so it's best to go by the address bar at the top and bottom of your browser. nirm- you will never be able to code anything that is 100% phish proof. even if you were so lucky, it would be outdated a month later. be realistic haha -

people can put in whatever address they please in an email if you have the right program. but just because it's saying it's coming from a certain address, doesn't mean it is. thanks for the update! i will be on the lookout. how was this caught in the first place??? -
Could Someone Give Me The Theory Of Photoshop?
anwiii replied to The Simpleton's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
don't even waste your time trying. you will always suffer quality loss when you enlarge a photo. even if there is new technology saying different, i would highly suspect otherwise. also, anyone claiming in this thread that the technology is out there, please send me a link as i would be interested in testing it. i have never seen an enlarged photo that doesn't turn "grainy" -
i think whoever came up with that idea is a genius. sure, there is a chance you can run in to stalkers, but if someone is a stalker, they will be stalking people whether people use book crossing or not. also, nobody knows when a person will actually find a book. a stalker would have to be staking out a place for days so i feel the chances of a crime due to this book crossing is so low, it's not really worth losing sleep over. but you do bring up a point that people should be aware of their surroundings no matter what they are doing or where they are at any given time. not paranoid, but aware. and yes, the way you put it, that WOULD be creepy, sheepdog haha.

Do You Think The Footer In A Website Is Important?
anwiii replied to web_designer's topic in Websites and Web Designing
likje true fusion said, i am not too keen on putting copyrights in footers as everything now a days is copywrited without the symbol. the footer is a place that people rarely see. i think a footer is important though none the less. we can be business like and professional at the top and middle of the page where our website gets the most exposure. the footer should be the exception. the footer should be personal and should tell a little bit about the person...i think the visitors will appreciate the website more with a good personal footer..... -
like i said in chat. i love your pictures. more yet, i love where you live. i sense a little bit of peace there....

i personally use the "SimpleLogin" plugin. it's pretty good. you can log in from the main page instead of logging in on a different login page. it then allows you to stay on the page you're on without being directed to the dashboard.

ok. what seemed to be the problem was the .htaccess file and the code that was put in there so what i did for the webhost 50webs, was i used the .htaccess generator and it created the code AddType cgi-script .php .htm .html .phtml which seemed to have done the trick. everything is working now. if you want to change your menu, you have to change it from the "menu.php" file from now on. i renamed your old index file "indexx.html". it's still there. i didn't delete it. from now on, i wouldn't suggest giving people your user name and password. you don't know me and i could have destroyed your site. that box was popping up because whatever was in the .htaccess file, made it so it wanted to download your site to your computer. strange. after deleting the .htaccess file, i had to clear by browsers cache in order to see the site working again. anyway, it's all set! if you have any more questions, feel free to ask...

that's not meditation, wd.....that is called day dreaming.... -
ok. i did a quick search and found this page... 50Webs - Website Hosting News Archive - Htaccess Generator Tool is Available in the Control Panel of the Paid Accounts evidently, .htaccess is supported if they have a tool to generate the file and the code. i am also thinking maybe you should try to generate the .hataccess file from the generator which would be located in your control panel.
-
well i tried to sign up at 50webs to see what is going on over there and it wouldn't allow me to sign up. they said i was using a proxy which i am NOT. you might want to turn on url includes to ON. i really don't know what that is for. maybe for server side includes. it wont hurt to turn it on though if you have the ability to turn off and on your settings. take a look at the working code here. don't mind the background and stuff. i have my own css file. if you view the source, you wont see the include fuction. it is replaced by the menu itself, but the menu IS in a seperate file, and the fuction IS there. it's just showing the code for the output. also, you might want to check if a .htaccess file is supported under your current plan. some free webhosts wont allow you to change settings through an .htaccess file. if you find out that this is the problem, then you need to do what web designer said and change your site to php. i don't recommend this way though unless all other options fail. the code would be the same, but you wouldn't need the .htaccess file.

no. all files should be in the same main directory. what web hosting company are you using to host your website? when i tested it, i uploaded the files online and went to the index page. everything worked except the formatting as i don't have your css file but the formating didn't matter. i just wanted to make sure everything else worked. so now we have to figure out why it's not working for YOU. i don't get any message when i visit your website with or without the "www". so i don't really know what your talking about? where do you get this message and when do you get it? is it an error message of some sort? do you see your site at all? i am not fully understanding what you are meaning. someone mentioned earlier that your webhost may not support php. have you verified that your webhost supports php? if so, what version is it?
