Why Should I Buy A Mac? Some questions
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to FirefoxRocks's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Remember that it's just a myth that Mac is invulnerable to viruses. All operating systems are vulnerable to viruses. It's just the degree of vulnerability. Windows is notorious for its insecurity. The fact that it's the most used operating system in the world makes it even worse for the operating system as people keep hammering the operating system. Thus, many people find it really scary to use Windows.xboxrulz -
Docduke has a point. When and what time? I think the topic starter was referring to contemporary computers and not the pre-ISA systems. However, $27 million dollars is quite impressive for a supercomputer back then. It costs just about one roller coaster xD.I wish I can have a computer with more than just dual core. It is in my plans, but I hate it when they cost more than my budget and it's not ridiculously more too. A quad core is just across that budget fence >.<".xboxrulz

Unlike other members of the forum, I highly recommend you constantly running an antivirus software to make sure that your system doesn't get infected. If you have a lightweight system, it shouldn't eat a lot of resources causing a substantial drag to your system.xboxrulz

How much did he spend? If he bought everything that was the best and available to consumers, it would've cost him $16,000.xboxrulz

I would go McAfee over Norton. Norton is WAY too bloated. It's more like a brick than it is useful.xboxrulz

Wiping Out A Hard Drive Most secure method?
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to FirefoxRocks's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Wow, that means that you did have very secret data if you had to go to RCMP/DoD and probably NSA methods to wipe the system.Anyways, 64MB of RAM??? That system must have been really old if it only had 64MB of RAM.xboxrulz -
Besides AVG, What's The Best Free Anti-Virus?
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to lonebyrd's topic in Software
I never liked Avast because of its really dumb down interface that gets in my way. Like fine, it can be easy but why did you make it so frustrating to go through?I like AVG's interface a lot better.xboxrulz -
Infomation Needed To Add Ram, Gpu, Etc?
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to toby's topic in Hardware Workshop
True true. Still, man, Toby, you NEED a new system. A system 6 years old isn't worth upgrading, you can most likely build a much better system with $400 which would be cheaper than trying to retrofit an old machine so it runs fast.xboxrulz -

Harddisk You Might Have Never Seen
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to jedipi's topic in Hardware Workshop
That's a pretty big hard drive. It must have been built for mainframes back in the 1970s/1980s when mainframes were still around before clusters replaced them.xboxrulz -
Couldn't you just activate Remote Desktop via right clicking the My Computer (or Computer on Vista) and then selecting Properties and go to the Remote tab to enable both Remote Desktop and/or Remote Assistance?xboxrulz

Well, on July 1, 2008, Canada celebrated its 141st birthday. As a Canadian it was wonderful! It was hectic at Canada's Wonderland (yes, I work there) and I've never seen the park THAT packed before. EVER!xboxrulz

Lcd Screen dead or stuck pixel, help
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to mikesoft's topic in Hardware Workshop
I know for LG, you must have 5 or more dead pixels or clustered in the centre is the only way u can get it exchanged under warranty (they don't even fix them until you send it to them and they give u a new one on the spot).xboxrulz -
It's because people have to choose one over the other and traditionally, desktops have been always the best. So, that explains it I guess.Like I said, there are many people like me. They have both types of systems and they tend to use their desktops more because it's a lot more powerful and runs like a champ.xboxrulz

Computer Not Boot Up hardware issue?
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to patel1405241559's topic in Hardware Workshop
Did you remove any parts during the cleaning process? If you removed the heatsink off the CPU, you MUST reapply new thermal paste on to the heatsink before you remount it on to your CPU (remember to wipe the thermal paste off the CPU and heatsink before applying new thermal paste).Thermal paste can only be used ONCE and should not be reused ever!xboxrulz -
Skydrive 5 gigs for saving your data
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to yordan's topic in General Discussion
Looks to me like any other free online storage solution. Haven't found anything really interesting to me. It's just another Microsoft's "we got to stick ourselves in here" type of deal.xboxrulz -
I am so confused as well. Vista usually stand for Windows Vista on the Internet. If you mean vistas as in themes, then you can customize them through many different methods available on the Internet.Windows XP and Vista are very customizable when it comes to changing their themes.xboxrulz

Yahoo! Messenger Talking To Google Talk?
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to tansqrx's topic in Search Engines
I'm all for it since it may eventually lead to the adoption of the close sourced networks to be open about XMPP. I love the XMPP protocol and hope it will become widespread in the not too distant future.xboxrulz -
You don't have to constantly replace your equipment every year. Most laptops are designed for 3 years (hence their extended warranties last 3 years) and desktops are designed for 3 years as well (avg. you may design your own desktop if you assembled it yourself). For me, my desktop is designed for 3 years with a 2 year upgrade path.xboxrulz

Safari And Hosts File Overriding the file??
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to FirefoxRocks's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Interesting enough that Safari runs all Mozilla plug-ins, but since they keep with their own design methods, many of the software itself is self-contained unlike traditional Windows software, so that in itself maybe a problem. There are no HOSTS problem on the MacOS X version. Try another Webkit web browser to see if it's just Safari or is it a Webkit issue.xboxrulz -

Need Some Help/advice On Lost Files.
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to LikMeBalleFM's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It could be Windows indexing the hard drive and made an error. Windows XP and newer operating systems automatically indexes the hard drive so that it's a lot easier to search through all the gazillion files you might have stored on your hard drive.Try disabling that function and maybe you might be able to find it again. Windows Restore only will revert back the software and not the actual files that were no backed up by Windows Restore since that function is just to backup specific system files just in case.xboxrulz -
DVD-Rom Doesn't Read DVDs Could it be bad SW or is it HW?
xboxrulz1405241485 replied to kenobi's topic in Hardware Workshop
It could just be the laser having trouble trying to read the sectors on the disc. It happens to overuse of the DVD-ROM. However, I rarely see it happen to LG burners/readers.xboxrulz
