  1. M8, i dont think your addicted! An addiction is where you absolutely can't stop yourself from the action, day to day. But for you it sounds like you know your wasting your time a bit, you probably could do something else, but you find it pleasurable to browse and discover the Internet, for which you find your time quickly slips by unnoticed. Thats kinda like how i get with computer games. Although I'd be just as happy to go rough water kayaking, or going to the pub for a couple of quiet ones. It looks like you've found a very cheap and easily accessible activity and its for that reason you seem to gravitate towards it, but if you could do something exciting, that would probably grab you more. You sound like me, your BORED.
  2. It really depends how you take what he says, for some they would take it seriously (or with anger). Others will take it with a grain of salt and are in a better position to "accept" people who say such things. Thats how I choose to take it, to "humor" something that is too preposterous to take seriously. It's an example of political correctness at its worse, you can't take things like that seriously.I got the indication that Fermin25 didn't mind people humoring him if he was to be accepted.
  3. Although Sega's demise in the console arena seemed at the time a bad thing. I personally was very pleased when i saw their games such as the Sonic series, continued on other consoles. They had plenty of opportunity to "learn" since the period of the Super Nintendo and Megadrive. In that period their level competition exhibited was most fierce, but quickly after they seemed to flounder. I don't think they adapted well to their newest competitor Sony at the time. Like many have said here, they should stick to what they are good at which is making original games. I wouldn't purchase a Sega console if it came out, unless it was proven to be "really" good.
  4. I thought you had to be careful in India when crossing the street as cars don't stop? (but they don't necessarily whiz around fast). There a lot of interesting facts about the people of Spain... I guess some of their roadways that follow escarpments would be fun to whiz around.
  5. Oh ok, I never get riddles. Like i said i have to many ideas. My guess was we are - housed in our bodies and then in our conscious mind. Ah, well.
  6. Generally in Australia people know the road rules and abide by them. However, there many who are aggressive on our roads and "push" others around. Some wont let you enter their lane if your marginally in front, others will pass into your lane even if you are marginally in front and you have to stomp the brakes. You get some that loose control with anger. Generally we are OK, though many tailgate so when you look out of your mirror the person behind you is occupying most of it and looking right at you, no joke! Some people here are too pissed off!
  7. I never usually do many riddles because I can come up with so many ideas to answer them. For the last riddle I guess perhaps... your consciousness?
  8. Mmm ok, this is my Very short list for trap votes - The Simpleton - "Most Valuable Poster" (Ive already voted on this) Truefusion - 1337 Programmer RayzorEdge - Tech Geek Baniboy/Sky - Shout boxer of the year Fermin25 - Comedian of the year Although he didn't make too many funny posts, the ones he did do almost had me laying eggs. Heres a quick recap (start at post 5) - http://forums.xisto.com/Communism-Fremp;hl=communism Ahh... that particular one still makes me laugh alot...
  9. I use Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer. But i predominately use Opera it is non resource intensive and has a turbo button in the lower left corner which compresses JPEGs. When the wireless seems to be getting a bit slow i turn the turbo button which will speed up browsing. Not just this but it can save some megabytes of bandwidth! (wireless)
  10. I think any domain with the word "scam" could begin raising peoples alarm bells. What about - dont defraud me or shoot the swindlers or dont be a victim.I can only really account for myself, any word in a domain that has "scam" in it, i will stay well clear of. Unless it was something like scambusters (that one has been taken). It has to be something which reinforces the message that scamming is not okay and people won't be a victim.
  11. I actually do a bit of Internet banking but its mostly transferring money between accounts or checking whats going on. After saying that though, i actually "really" appreciate the convenience this offers. At the beginning of this year i finished a book keeping course and one of the things that was reiterated during the course of study was the fact that Australian banks "don't" invest into their walk in branches like they use to.15 or so years ago people would go into their bank and the bank would fulfill their needs on a somewhat more personal level. However today banks do not give that personally customized advice so much and many branches have been closed to save the bank costs associated with keeping them open. However the banks have realized that this has had a negative impact on their image and are now trying to solve the problem by investing more effort (by going back the other way around). However despite these trends, i myself much prefer Internet banking the only inconvenience is the extra amount of computer security measures i go to, to protect myself. I run virtual machines which are constantly scanned or often i will just completely discard them and load up another copy.
  12. Ok, we got our first review that deserves a faint smile me thinks. Anyone else care to contribute their bit? we need a full smile!Anyway, Opaque do i get a quadzillion billion posts now?
  13. I think things will get worse for human society before they get better. You obviously have some more optimism than i do. Human kind have made some big mistakes in the past, issues like Chernobyl come to mind. We become complacent in our ability to progress further in human advancement and thats where some things get overlooked. Due to forces such as corruption and greed, society as a whole is steered in directions that the vast majority don't always agree with. Movies show what they will for entertainment value, but i think we've really got to wake up to the fact there are some very harsh injustices in this world that don't seem to be getting any better. For society making big mistakes in future will be inevitable. Hopefully anything big can be reversed and hopefully we will become wise as a result of them.
  14. A good friend i knew used to do the goth thing, you know the black nails and everything. I was like dude.. you are too normal to be dressing yourself up like that. He only kept it up for a year or so, he was a nice guy too.
  15. Yeah pretty interesting, I'm wondering if Opaque has been surprised by how far his creation has grown since that time? Must do. Some of those members didn't seem too appreciative, must have been of a mindset that this was an unsustainable fad at the time. Though it has stood the test of time, which of course is really great!
  16. Yeah that was good, actually more dramatic than i thought it would be. See all the fluids exit? must have been 5 or so gallons! Smart creatures elephants, they have brawn and brains.
  17. Welcome Anvilpinata, its good to see members like yourself who put a good number of posts in on the first day! On trap 17 you'll find a diverse range of subjects to reply to, so i hope you enjoy it!.
  18. I find deep sea creatures fascinating. For some reason their evolution has lead them to the deepest parts of the ocean. They survive on very little oxygen, cold temperatures, little amounts of light and under very high water pressure. They live in depths ranging from about 200 meters to 6500 meters. (Beyond 1000 meters deep is a total absence of light) Some may have Photophore's all over their body and their bodies light up to catch prey, or to help the creature survive in some other way. Probably what intrigues me most is the shapes and forms their bodies come in. Here are a couple of links to photographs - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ You can be a deep sea monster too, i'm sure your partner will be impressed to waking up one day with you wearing this - http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/merchandiser/33866.jpg Especially if you make some bizarre screeching sounds to go with it and bounce around the floor like a fish out of the water. Actually don't take that as advice, i'm only kidding!
  19. The only disappointment is they haven't made a World of Goo 2 yet. @ spudds post 7, When you first start a game of World of Goo you notice a few things. You have some goo'ies floating about on a structure. You will also notice somewhere 'a sign', if it isn't immediately on screen use your mouse to drift through the map by moving your mouse towards the edges of the screen. You click these signs to get tips. These provide tips on how to play the game, some humor and hints how you may finish particular levels. Ok, so back to the goo'ies. Scan the map to focus back on the moving gooies. In each level you have an objective, the idea is to form structures by using these goo'ies. From the starting position (where you are focused on at the beginning) you must create a strong enough structure to get to the end position (which is a pipe that vacuums the "spare" goo'ies up into its glass jar). However on different levels there will be different obstacles and it is your job to create a strong structure without wasting or killing your goo'ies .(otherwise you may not pass the level at the vacuum pipe, if you have too few goo'ies) So you click and hold on one of the goo'ies you proceed to drag the goo ball to the point where you see a preview of how the connections between the goo ball and the existing structure will look. If you like what you see you simply release the mouse button.Where the strategy comes into the picture, is knowing what directed paths your goo balls should go in, towards your final objective (the pipe). Of course every level is different with their own arrangement of obstacles and circumstances. Their is also a large element of anticipating the physics of the game that go into your considerations for construction and that is largely where the fun is. You try to determine "how" your structures will hold up under certain circumstances, considering what you have learned about how the games physics behave. Initially it is about trial and error till you get a feel for the game.Although defining the game play aspect comes across simple, its actually very engaging and a nice relaxing level of challenges. That coupled with great music, graphic design, humor and strangeness makes it an awesome game.
  20. By the fastest car you mean the fastest petrol or diesel engine based vehicle?. Check out the ThrustSSC, a turbo fan engined based vehicle and the current land speed holder at 763.035 Mph or 1227.986 kmh - https://s.yimg.com/pw/images/photo_unavailable.gif https://plus.maths.org/issue52/interview/thrust_view.jpg Here is a wikipedia page including details on the subject its interesting! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_speed_record There are more projects underway to try to further break the record, here is an picture of the "North American eagle" an example of one such project - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  21. No, i agree just the tabloids and media exaggerating the importance of events to sell their "own' business. Hopefully most people are clever enough to not buy into it...
  22. I reckon Steven King would be quite normal, but very interesting conversation! For me a famous person I'd like to meet would be.... perhaps Axl Rose, he is a very enigmatic character and im sure he would seem to leave that impression even after you had met him. I'd also encourage him to release another album with Guns n' Roses. I like the new stuff more than the old stuff, despite being a long term fan.
  23. ?Oh well ash, if you visit Australia some time you may very well be hit in the head by a flying cat poo nugget! ? @ sheepdogs post, Yeah they actually do that in many Cinema's in Australia, for instance if you have Mc Donalds in your bag they "may" use that as grounds not to let you in. I say "may" because although a manager or an owner may want this, the person on the ground the "attendant", may let it go. They typically want you to buy what they are selling (its expensive), which will usually result in you concealing food purchased from a supermarket in an unseen crevice in your bag!If you deny them access to your bag, then they may very well turn you away. Mind you this doesn't stop some people, they bring in whiskey and beer! (My mum worked at one).?
  24. Its a hairless, unlike the picture my brothers one has a marginally white crest towards the back. It also has fluffy white legs. Its actually a big version of the breed (a mid size dog) it weighs about 15 kg. It slightly cowers each time you walk past it and sometimes you have to chase it a little to pat it. It plays with the cats and is like a gentle giant to them.Definitely not a dangerous animal in my backyard! Although perhaps it is in its imagination.
  25. Yeah i totally agree with that. There aren't many who will tell it to you like that, to give you an understanding straight away. What a clever idea posting your work through mail in that manner.
