  1. Yeah this happened to me at the end of High School makes you miserable doesnt it? Before that point i had many friends. Im just wondering are you depressed since your friends have drifted a bit, or were you depressed before that point? The unfortunate fact about depression is most people dont want to hang out with someone who cant smile and joke and "that" could be the problem. Just a thought...
  2. Welcome GoD, good to have you on board. You should be up and running after about 20 posts max, possibly 10 or so based on your post above. That will get you the basic package at 2 bucks a month, this you may already know. There is a slightly more secure package with more features at 6 dollars i believe. If you want a Static dedicated IP address, that is an extra 2 dollars a month. Anyways, i appreciate seeing good avatars like yours, good luck!
  3. Interesting stuff it could be quite plausible that paper based magazines will be replaced by digital counterparts in the future. Although the "video in magazine" idea i cant really see how it is a feasible idea unless a company like maybe "Nike" pays for that kind of advertising, at least not feasible as how things currently stand. Its funny rayzoredge mentioning this technology seeming old news, i've heard about this sort of technology 10 years ago from local IT Magazines. But i dont think anyone should find that surprising.
  4. You know that could very well turn out to be a fun game, but could be a little hurtful on the eye's. Otherwise i'd definitely give it a try. I like these sorts of special games, usually if you start with your expectations very low it turns out really good. Takes me back to memories like playing Rise of the Triads and Blood 1. Which were well dated by 98-99 by the time i played them, but had an engrossing feel about them. Another free game people may be interesting in is yoFrankie! I have never tried it as i dont think i'd have the hardware specs to play it adequately. Might work on some peoples though. Here is a screen shot - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Here is the main site (download for the game is about 120 meg, not including "Blender 3D" install) - https://apricot.blender.org/ It was built over Blender 3D's engine. Only im i little sceptical how many levels you get with it and it is more targeted towards kids.
  5. I think i had similar problems once on Ubuntu. I installed Active Python, then repeated the installation procedure but changed the paths to point to the Active Python installation and was successful.
  6. Another interesting exercise to try is looking down at some colored card when in a bright day, when you take it away and put a bright white card in its place you should see the opposite color in the color wheel. (the color wheel is part of visual color theory) In other words a warm violet card will look like yellow on the white paper. A green like red on white paper, etc - http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/landscaping/
  7. aww... crud wasnt paying attention to the shoutbox.
  8. I dont know what a Zeer is, even after Googling it but here is a reply. :PHey J, your post count has almost reached 5000 well done!
  9. Rally up a few useless people from the camp each day, cut em to bits and scatter the remains in a location a few miles away. Its cheap and kinda practical, sort of, problem solvered. That takes care of the lions, as for the elephants erm.... a quadzillion, billion... trillion volts through an electric fence should do the job nicely. I promise you they will be dead and crispy before they feel hurt!
  10. It sounds like you guys have a really great deal in India (almost unbelievable even). In Australia our rates for calls are much more expensive, which is mostly due to our networks having to cover so much distance per the population (or so they say). For instance for you, 60 paisa's gets you at least a minute talk time for outgoing. On my current plan with my current provider (Australian Telstra which sucks for price) i pay 79 cents for one minute of normal talk time outgoing, which is equivalent to about 33 rupees and 47 paise's. That really doesnt seem right to me, but according to exchange rates its true. Any way you pay a very cheap rate by the sounds of things.
  11. When you reach 100 myCents it will become one U.S dollar and is then transferred to your Xisto account. You need to post approximately 3-10 quality posts to get a dollar, depending on the amount of words you put into your posts, where on the forums you post to (for instance on introductions is a 0 post count for myCents), and also the quality of the post. You first need to accumulate about 2 dollars (200 myCents and is an ongoing monthly fee), which will enable you to purchase the "basic" plan which many of us go for. Alternatively you can save up to around 6 U.S dollars and get the upgraded account. Hope this helps you.
  12. Actually my R50 is the equivalent of a T42 i believe, which is 1 generation behind yours. With the R50 there were two locations for the ram, if i remember correctly the first one required you to remove the keyboard component only by unscrewing it at the bottom. The ram in mine must have been placed in a different location as it is positioned directly beneath the middle of the numeric keys. The mini PCI slot (which now contains a Atheros wireless card) is directly under the touch pad, which sounds like where your ram is . I also have an optional DIMM slot underneath the laptop towards the back. It is a quick process unscrewing a hinged panel, rotating it 180 degrees popping out the slot and popping the stick in then putting back together. The only gripes with mine is it only accepts PC 2700. PC 3300 was a very decent speed increase and could very well be what is in yours (or maybe PC4200). For that reason, i only purchased some cheapo second hand Samsung sticks to take care of the job otherwise it would have been Kingston.I don't have any issues with wobbly keyboards after putting mine back together ,but then they do seem like different designs. One thing you might want to be careful of though is if you decide to replace your laptop screen be careful during that process! I was very fortunate not to "totally" wreck the antennae which extends along the left edge parallel to the screen. (I only nipped some of the plastic on the wire, which had minimal affect on wireless reception).
  13. You know this may sound harsh, either for you or for them. But if i were you i would forget about them and move on big time! No blaming, just remember your now an adult and have the capacity well within yourself to move on. By continuing to blame them it will only take your own self empowerment away from yourself at this point in time, which is something you should try to avoid. My parents were a bit like that, but not so much into playing a game of favorites. A counselor told me when i was about 18/19 that playing the blame game won't help you in the moment now. Despite this i have always acknowledged that they weren't particularly attentive caring parents, who found it hard to face up to their own responsibilities and not their own needs. Don't be nice to them! If you think having no contact will help YOU, then don't confuse yourself with worry, just do it. I wont talk to my dad anymore because he is an arrogant ahole, its not that im trying to get my own back but more so to save my SELF ESTEEM by keeping the hell away from him.Id suggest you keep away from your parents and seek the support of friends in times of need.
  14. Don't you watch movies like Indiana Jones? We'll if they don't like it, then i don't either?. Your one of those notorious monkey, sheep, pig brain advocates, aren't you? . Personally id rather be a vegetarian but my body isn't built that way and i do weights anyway so...?
  15. I was wondering hypothetically speaking, how much money would you expect if someone was to dare you to eat chilled monkey brains? http://www.indianajones.de/indy2/pics/film/doom_41.jpg http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/kinser/images/cebus13.jpg Apparently there are many nutrients to be obtained from eating a brain , i'd imagine it would taste like mm... maybe cabbage? Personally i reckon someone would need to dare me a decent laptop before id eat some baked brains, id also prefer to have it cut into small pieces and added into a bowl of fruit loops. Has anyone ingested brains before ? Did it make you feel like a wild cannibal? as this has some stigma associated with it. Would anyone if dared, eat a blood clotted smoking monkey brain for a price? I'm not sure i would, but i guess it depends.
  16. Hi Rubikcode, I think you will like it here if you give it a decent shot. I'm usually a hard person to impress when it comes to products, but this one doesn't leave me with any bad feelings towards it at all. (In other words it is pretty darn good).Hope you enjoy it here on Xisto!?
  17. Yeah i enjoyed that game a bit although i only played the demo of it, my good comp fried before getting the full version . In the demo i had the opportunity to play the level "St Fromond", very intense engaging level.? I also played one of the skirmish levels where my team were the Americans and the other team the Germans. From that experience i discovered how much damage a "Goliath" remote bomb was capable of. Unfortunately they didn't work so affectively for me when i played the Germans side, they'd always be blown away before reaching their destination (which of course would have been obliterated). Sometimes id have have 5 of these tank bombs running around on the map at once. (most were usually blown away)Great fun, definitely ranks in my top 10 games. Another game which people may vaguely remember was "Soldiers". These two games have many similar characteristics which always had me wondering if they were made by the same company.?
  18. Didn't you get a PC with 12 gigs of ram etc.. etc...? I'm not sure how this one compares to the last, but the specs still look very ample for gaming.
  19. Yeah i do have an IBM Thinkpad! Its an old R50 single core 1.7 GHZ. Is your laptop an R, T or A series? I upgraded mine from a 1.4 Ghz Banias to the 1.7 Banias. I considered putting in a compatible Dothan but they run much hotter.Actually you'd be surprised, i manage to run virtual machines with MS Virtual PC, VMWare and now Virtual Box on a single CPU with about the same performance as my mums HP dual core 1.8 Ghz (vista as mums host). MS Virtual PC is a poor performer in my opinion and Virtual Box and VMWare seem to be on par with each other.I tried installing freeBSD on my laptop just as a straight install with limited success some time ago. The problem at that time was i had to supply the hard drive header information displayed in the BIOS to freeBSD fdisk or whatever, suffice to say that was a huge issue and prevented me from progressing further with the installation process. (it could have been a BIOS issue).Apparently freeBSD (although Unix based) has a different kernel than standard Linux platforms and has far superior virtual memory management and server performance. Besides the Linux ports to the BSD platform i think the two platforms do have quite some differences (although they seem similar at first look and are both Unix based).Regarding all my old PC hardware most of it quite literally fried and has been thrown away. Most of it has been due to my over clocking ventures but also because the amount of use i get out of them. Regarding your Windows 7 on your IBM Thinkpad, Im fairly sure i tried windows 7 out on my R50 when it had the Banias 1.4 Ghz chip in with 1 gig of ram. I had some very good luck with it you'd be surprised! Although it probably also depends on the graphics card in it, in mine i have a 32 Meg Radeon 7500. Which is one of the highest level graphics card in that old series of Thinkpads. If you have the 16 Meg variation it could work Ok, but i can't give any promises. On mine i got the same sort of performance as XP (maybe a little bit less) and on the Beta version a crash that screwed up the GUI terribly. (But that was the first beta). The only problem with it as you may know, is Windows 7's very liberal use of the ram. Although this is what is attributed to its good performance you will need nothing less than 1 gig (maybe two 1 gig sticks would do the job nicely). Also replacing ram in Thinkpad's is too easy, really gotta love them machines.
  20. Is that the Java based installer which loads up from Adobe? I had some troubles with it even with an ultra fast connection at the local college, it still took over 5 minutes to kick in. I tried it about 4-5 times to get it working. You could try a torrent but it will probably be tampered with and may contain a Trojan. (people always like to go for the Adobe products and MS OS's). Sorry i don't have any other suggestions.
  21. Another reason it could be running slow is if you have laptop it could be searching for wireless networks just before the GUI screen flashes up. For instance on my laptop boot times take longer when i first press the power button because i have 8 or so USB devices hooked up to a USB and then into the laptop. So that adds an extra 10 or so seconds at the BIOS stage. Then it loads the kernel etc into memory but just before the GUI flashes up it may hang anywhere up to a full minute scanning for wireless networks before kicking up the GUI.Disabling processes won't do much for the problem mentioned in the first post as that only shaves off a certain percentage of boot time (under normal circumstances). In the case described in post one it could be a virus, a registry or corrupt file error, or one of the problems i have mentioned.
  22. There surely wouldn't be peace in Afghanistan if Americans stopped supplying guns, the radical groups do have other sources to obtain guns from (Russia comes to mind for me). The Afghani's have the reputation of being a violent society and nothing will change that soon. But i don't think many people are aware how much America toyed around with the business of supplying guns to radical groups in the middle east leading up to 9/11. (those actions are partially what brought bitterness towards the U.S) I'm not sure, i cant remember exactly what was happening, it could have involved the CIA in some way? Anyway, a heck of a lot of money was made for a period of about 1-2 decades prior. Regarding gun control in America, well i cant really speak for that because i know Americans like certain liberties. But in Australia (i think the late 80's) they introduced strict laws for gun ownership, i remember because as a kid my dad retrieved a rifle out of the man hole in the ceiling and explained that he had to relinquish it. Anyway the result of those strict laws where less murders in Australia due to very tight gun control. Sorry i have to disagree with you there. If guns aren't used on farms or in the wilderness or for the military, i have a hard time believing they have any value to society. I'd rather have people bludgeon each other if violence is the only way they can see to resolve an issue. Although i couldn't find any links which explain how guns travel into the hands of terrorists (in the middle east for example) in this link it explains in 10 or so paragraphs preceding its bibliography how the U.S distributed its guns according to their foreign policy at the time. http://www.answers.com/topic/arms-industry-1 It notes periods of time where weapons supplied were indiscriminately offered to foreign countries (to a certain degree). In this link it describes how a careless situation lead to weapons being led into the wrong hands. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  23. I found a really good site which lists pictures and results of championship winning sand castles. Apparently master sand sculptors use nothing but sand, water and a set of tools to complete these artistic pieces. Some of these creations are truly fantastic and worth a look - http://harrisand.org/sand_sculpture_photo_gallery.htm
  24. It isn't too unusual as far as I'm concerned. As many women love to shop to the point of it becoming an addiction, you love to bargain hunt and get good deals. Be glad it isn't the other way around!
  25. Sorry to hear you got that Truefusion. Despite the odd mention of the word being brought up, to be honest I've never heard of it before. After a quick search i found that it is a problem encountered globally. Here is another site that might be of interest to people - http://www.tickalert.org.au/seekmedi.htm
