I've got it... and most of my plugins aren't compatible yet... I might switch back and update when more are compatible...Then again, its released today, I shouldn't expect my plugins to magically work (It would be nice though )

Thats really it, noone NEEDS a phone with a camera, or internet access... but they've got them. its not about being different... at the moment I'm in the air about the whole thing... I don't need a new phone. my one I've got is great, only its lack of bluetooth sometimes annoys me. but im happy with the phone. basically I'm really asking"If you've got an iPhone was it worth the hype?"

Vinyl is sexy. its good Quality (when properly cared for), and its just feels good holding and listening to it. I really don't know how else to explain it. Vinyl is sexy, it feels it and it sounds it. I'm talking the audiophile, the sound tech/engineer with the well trained ears, that can hear how full and rich an old vinyl record sounds and feels. I mean it feels good to hold 11 inches of a big black licorice pizza (record)Analogue Tape (domestic)... cassette is ok, it lacks quality mainly because it is at such a low speed, the higher the speed the better the quality. Studio reel tape (24 tracks tape machines and such) normally run at 30 IPS (Inches per second) cassette operates at 1 7/8 IPS, which is significantly less. If you get a record, play it, record it to tape and listen to one then the other, you will notice the quality difference. CD, now we've talked about the anaogue realm, now we dive into the digital with CD. Cd which is 44.1kHz 16bit recording. which is pretty darn good, but its just not the same as a vinyl record. A bit of science, 44.1kHz means you can record upto 22.5 kHz, which is above the human ear, but i think we can feel it, vinyl as having been said to record upto 50kHz. But that's just academic really. There is really no real difference between CD and Vinyl aurally (for most). if we wanted to talk about recording however that would be a different matter, with analogue saturation and the unpleasant tape clipping.Next MP3, Trading quality for portability. What would you rather, have a full quality CD? or an mp3 at a fraction of the quality, just to be able to listen to it in the park, or while running? What about the artist, there they are spending time and money to produce a song they poured their heart and soul (and normally some cash too) into to make the best they possibly could, then having most people listening to it on iPods with poor quality Mp3s or AACs... at WAV (or CD quality) it is about 5Meg a minute (mono) 10 Meg a minute (stereo) which means for a four minute song its around 40Meg, which gives you full quality or something the 10th of it claiming to be CD quality. No. listen to the songs on myspace, (all the ones i've listened to and downloaded) were at 96kpbs and 22.5kHz, which means you just cut the frequencies above 10kHz out, and anything above it you get that funky sound (kinda like those cymbals in songs that sound like a duck fart underwater courtesy of the poor quality MP3)To not appear like a whinger (whiner, complainer) I will end on a good note. It looks like people who share files on file sharing networks (limewire frostwire etc) seem to be upping the quality. I can remember when the average quality was around 96kbps, now its 128-160, which these days with encoders and decoders are sounding better. not great but better.Tape may have gone the way of the dodo (commercially) , but vinyl hasn't, and probably wont for a long time to come. Just go to any music store that isn't owned by a record company subsidary (not sanity, HMV, or Virgin music stores... the ones that sell chart music, those ones that have stacks of CDs new and used) and you'll find vinyl, you'll find some recent releases have been released on vinyl.Portability Vs. Quality... which would you pick to listen to music,I will admit on my ipod my music is MP3, but 320kbps, the highest I could set it to, unless it has been downloaded, or not ripped from a Cd

its not so much the stress, I'm just tired (after working at my current job for over 2 years now) of people not speaking sufficient english to order, and I don't understand the people who are rude to people who are the ones helping them if they've got a comlaint. i can understand anger (its at the situation and you tend to cop the brunt of it but im cool with that) but not plain rudenesss... anyway thats my vent about my job...I need these every so often

That is the question isn't it? And with the release date soon in Australia (Where I am) There are probably alot of other people wonderring the same question. Right now I've got an old school phone a nokia 5140i or something like that (not sure of the model off the top of my head) it's sturdy (which is the main reason i bought it) and it was cheap. My last phone the keypad doesn't like to type text messages, I can type hi how are you and it turns out "hi HOW 2730948" or something like thatI love my nokia phone, love my mac, love my iPod (other than the fact I wish it were bigger than 8GB)... I am very defensive when someone badmouths macs without knowing or using them for a while and have even tried to convert friends to apple. Should I let apple into another part of my life?Anywho back to the question at hand, Should I invest in an iPhone?Anyone out there mainly the USA or anywhere iPhones have been launched officially (not unlocked) have any qualms about the product? any problems, or commendations? Do you love it? hate it? had to grow into it (like when converting from windows to mac)?Much appreciated

it didn't end up transferring them. well it did, but i just couldn't read them on the phone (?) never mind, I've moved on to a new phone... its older and more sturdier

Whats wrong with vinyl?Other than the fact it is basically impossible to be portable with

Hi,I am a mac user and I am perplexed something I have noticed time and time again, when playing from a CD as opposed to MP3 Files in iTunes. I haven't really noticed it with any other apps, mainly because I use iTunes to rip and play music, but as I have imported most of my music I really don't use CDs as much when listening to music on my macbook. I either use another really good player called COG to either play CD or files, but never the same file both times. I only noticed this the other because I had just burned a CD and checked it and it was louder.Any ideas? explanations? Thanks

I just tried playing 3 files (same song) one on a CD I burned, one from the iTunes folder, the original I downloaded, through COG my little freeware unknown player, and guess what... they're all the same level (or less than 1dB different).... its the EXACT same file, downloaded, copied into iTunes then burned from iTunes.I'm going to guess from my brilliant deduction skills that itunes is whats making the CD louder...Anyone willing to offer an explanation/opinion on why they would do this?(P.S Don't worry about getting too technical for me I'm a sound tech with a good knowledge of digital audio)

I work in customer service, taking orders over the phone and such. I Really don't understand why people are rude to us, I can't help but think of the old adage, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" to me being rude to the guy whos writing down what you order doesn't make sense. For example (I work with pizzas) oops, it was hot sprinkles, not half sauce? oops. I bet that burned. I can understand people complaining for a genuine reason, something wrong with the pizza or it was late or such, but people ringing up and complaining, then talking your ear off "This call is costing me money hurry up," and I respond ok I've done what I need to do you should get a call in X mins, if not call us back and we'll put you through" and then they spout the "I've been a customer for so long, ive never had anything wrong before, but this time grr. etc. etc."Another thing that annoys me is people that ring up and complain about something, and they say "this is the first time anything's ever been wrong ever and they've been using us for many years, and you know what I'm not going to order from you ever again because of it." I am tempted to say, "What do you do?" and say what if you did a bad job once, and you got the sack because of it? How would you feel about that?" Then the I understand you didn't get what you wanted by but why does one experience have to sour you? if it happens regularly that I can understand... that ANNOYS MEI really like it when people are just business, I don't mind it. Simple matter of fact, business only tone, thats fine. but being rude, whinging and whining about something then causing the problem (The Hurry up I'm on a mobile, then talking your ear off) really annoy me. There are great customers too. I remember then just as much as I remember the bad ones...

Work Work Work, with the high cost of living these days you have to work your butt off to keep afloat. I want to do sound engineering as a job. Because its never the same, live sound is chaotic, and ever changing.Riding the train I see people disconnected with reality. Just sit on the train, pop in headphones listen to music. get off at your stop. I listen to music but it has an effect on me. If I am listening to a track that makes me want to move, I do. Tap my feet, bob my head, maybe even lip sync... I watched Law & Order last night and it had Robin Williams on it, the message was "Don't be a sheep" in it (after trial and such) he organized rallies where people did something different. Had a Pillowfight on their lunch break, played statues at grand central station. If your life hasn't got Variety, make it. Give it that variety.

I am a christian, I have a weird sort of belief system. I Believe in god, Karma, and a few other things. I believe that the truth lies somewhere in between the bible and science. I look at it like this:In Genesis, it says, "God said let there be light" Could it not be an analogy for the big bang?I Believe sort of in intelligent design. Everything happens for a reason, everything (or most things) conform to a plan.A Benny Hill quote comes to mind, "When god invented man, spectacles had not been invented but look where he put our ears"Yes I know that Man invented glasses, and used our ears to keep them in place. Think about it, the world has come together too well for it to be random. What do you think?P.S People need to as one of my lecturers keep saying, "You need to take the blinkers off" By that he means to open your mind listen to others ideas, music beliefs, and don't condemn them because you don't agree. Take it in.

At Present there is nothing out there at the moment that can remove vocals from a song. The reason being is that vocals have a wide range, there is the original note (called the fundamental) We'll say A (440Hz) and it has frequencies above it (called harmonics) The human voice is very complicated with many fundamentals and such which spread over many frequencies. If you were to E.Q Out (Adjust the frequencies of the song) you would posibly minimize the voice, but you cannot remove it, and just the voice. You can try and remove some of it but would remove other instruments (like guitar). The Best way is to get a Midi File of the song and use that. There is some software that can turn the midi notes into real sounding instruments (through sampling)

What is it you are looking at recording? How Many Simultaneous tracks? If you just want something to record guitar and vocals (depending on the mic you have) there is an interface I am looking at an M-Audio Mobile Pre-USB as for software, are you a mac or PC User? If you're a PC User, There is Kristal Audio Engine, Audacity Those I have used to mix, and it's not bad. I haven't used Kristal to record. Not to mention most interfaces have some free or basic version of a recording program, There's Ableton Live which you can get a free version for I think. If you're a mac user there's some out there, I haven't use many I liked. All of the ones I have mentioned are FREE.

I am not a fan of MSN or windows live or whatever they're calling it these days. I prefer Skype. Voice calls are great, I haven't tried VIdeo conferencing with it yet. I prefer using AdiumX (Mac), Pidgin(Win), or MirandaIM (Win). I loved version 7 of MSN Messenger, then they went and put all these bells and whistles that really don't appeal to me, that really annoy me more than anything. Skype is pretty good. I like the look of it, the feel of it, and it doesn't crash or play up like MSN for me.There is only one problem I have with skype, ONLY ONE OF MY FRIENDS USES IT!

Are you a mac or PC User?I Am a mac user and I Use Ipoddisk. It mounts the ipod as a disk (letting you see all the files and folders on the ipod, as in the music files)There was one program I had on windows... I can't remember what it was called, I think it was called GTK pod that had been ported to windows. Also Songbird, Media Monkey (I think) and winamp work with iPods.

I'm gonna go with the fact this is one of those you had to be there moments, like in one of my classes a guy (who is a smoker) lit his lighter under the desk. The teachers said 'What was that?" refering to the spark he saw. THe guy said, "Did you see my hand just spontaneously combust?" That Was funny

What about "The galloping Giselle"? are you into wildlife?

My deepest heartbreak I've experienced was a long saga, real long. Here is the short version:1. We became close friends2. She lied to me and didn't tell me that "That random guy" was her boyfriend3. Her and "That random guy" broke up, he only wanted one thing :D4. I was one of her only friends that weren't all "I told you so, older guys are only after one thing"5. I asked her out, she said no (that wasn't the heartbreaking part)6. Not long after that she started going out with a guy (who had a bad track record) and didn't tell me.7. She said a few things like "Oh he is sooo sweet" or "HE is sooo great" while I was in earshot (insensitive much?)8. We had a fight and a falling out9. They broke up (well he just ignored her)10. Again I was one of the few friends who weren't saying "I told you so"11. Before our high school formal (like a prom for you Yankees) I said something (Which I think was a fair conclusion) which resulted in another tiff12. I just gave up on trying to get her forgiveness13. We got lost together on a school trip, and became friends again14. After school finished we arranged to meet up, at the last minute (When I say last minute I mean about 15 mins after we were supposed to meet up) she cancelled (because she was too hung over to come)That's the short version. If I wrote the long version I would probably get a million credits for it. But I don't feel like spilling my guts now.My story stretches over about 10 months. and theyre the big points. What about your worst experience of heartbreak?

That is the one thing about Catholicism that doesn't make sense to me. God will forgive all sins, (with the exception of suicide) and then there's the you're going to hell for everything you do.it contradicts itself doesn't it?And if I have got my understanding of catholicism wrong, please correct me.

I have to commend you for this. Other than just saying "I hate rap" or "Rap sucks" or something like that you've actually explained why you hate it. I only have to make one mention- There is some decent rap out there (not about b*tches and H*es and all your fancy clothes, bling bling and all of that thing...) It's very hard to find. But it is out there. For once someone doesn't just say "I Hate ***" but you gave good reasons. Cheers!

I have heard very highly of lenovo as far as PCs go. I would not recommend Toshiba, I and a few people I know have had some problems with Toshiba Laptops.I would suggest a macbook (macbook pro if you've got the money) and get a bigger hard drive and you can dual boot it to run windows If you've got a (legal) copy. But once you get used to apple (if you're brought up on windows) but you get used to it (and if you're anything like alot of my windows-turned-mac-users) you will come to prefer it.

I've done numerous clean installs of windows and it works for a while and then just gives me the BSOD previously mentioned. I will check the hard drives themselves to see if i do have them correctly set up (slave master etc)Thanks for all the help. Now I see what trap 17 means by a quality forum.
