  1. I am not sure. The only reason I am posting is to suggest this:Give your local apple shop/Service center (not just ipod) and ask them. They would (probably) be the best people to talk to.
  2. That's pretty rough. There are really alot of points you've made and seem to be looking for advice on, but I'll try to be as helpful as I can.May I make a suggestion? Do something completely spontaneous and romantic. Remind her why, or how, or when she fell in love with you. She might be able to shut you out, but I doubt she could forget 10 years of love, good times, and fun. Take her to the first place you went out together. Have a romantic candlelit dinner. Sing her 'your song' if you're that way inclined, or write her a song. Make some grand romantic gesture that would (in the movies) make all forgiven and have her run into your arms, but in reality you might get a smirk or a smile, and get on the road to making up. Or you could do something big and fun as a family. (not the best example) go to an amusement park, go camping for a weekend, spend a day out as a family. not just you and the kids, not just her and the kids, all of you.If money's a problem, you could possibly get a 2nd job, or start your own online business if you're really good at one particular thing. If money is the problem, not the effort or commitment put into the job there are plenty of ways to make some extra money. Don't forget if you're working 30+ hours and so is your girlfriend, who is gonna raise your children?Another thing you could try is saving up some cash and buying her a ring. Propose to her. In my opinion the ring doesn't have to be flashy, its more of a symbol. My parent's wedding rings are just plain bands. Good luck.
  3. We've got one of those here in Australia. It doesn't stop the calls though. we still get telemarketers. I think the block list just takes you off of the free list that companies can buy. Not stops you from getting calls. Then again I don't think our government did the block list. That could be why.
  4. I wouldn't want to travel, I would want to do all the things I've never done, like skydive, swim with dolphins/sharks, busk, play a game of street hockey/cricket/baseball/football. and just for kicks, I'd want to go up to a girl and say, 'run away with me. let's go to the greek islands, the Caribbean, Fiji. Some Idealic islands. Come with me to my boat.' and lead her (If she followed) to a canoe. play a few pranks. and do things I've always wanted to do.
  5. I'm sorry that site has got to THE UGLIEST site ever. That background. All those cheesy things around the page, especially the bar at the top, the windows style security message, 'you are possibly not secure in your own faith...'I'm getting dizzy just looking at it.

    Virtualbox

First Off I'm a mac user, and was looking for a great way to run windowsSun has made a great emluator, or whatever you want to call things like Qemu and parallels. Enter Virtualbox. It was just the solution I was looking for, something to rival Parallels, and this gives it a fair run for its money. I have tried Parallels, and was contemplating on buying it then I found virtualbox. The main feature I was looking for was what Virtualbox calls 'seamless mode' Parallels calls 'coherence mode'. This basically means your virtual program windows appear as normal windows. I know that this works with windows XP.If you're a mac user trying to run windows, try virtualbox. It's also available for a variety of operating systems.
  7. There are some places to post, just google 'post poetry' and it gives you some forums and places. I would suggest either using blogger.com (blogspot) hosting your own site (here or tripod.lycos.com, complete with templates and stuff) or google docs (office type software in a window, and you can publish when you're finished. unfortunately there address is some obscure address.) Or Start a myspace like 'allenspoetry' and just post them in your myspace blog.Just some suggestions
  8. openoffice needs X11. Try NeoOffice, it's open office that runs natively (as in not with x11)If you wanted to pay you could get iWork. Pages for word files (it does use its own format) numbers for excel (I haven't used it but i've tried it and its useable unless you want special formulas) and keynote for powerpoint (great presentation program)
  9. Thank-you. This has been resolved you can close off the topic now.
  10. I can't find the password reset page (I know it costs credits to request)Can anyone give me the link please to that page, it has other options too if i remember. Thanks
  11. Thanks All. Already submitted and all fixed
  12. On sunrise (one of Australia's morning news shows) The gadget guy told us about the innovative magnet technology that we will see in the next 12-18 months. Magnets embedded in a table or counter top and when you put the appliance on that table top the magnets generate the power for the device. I did a quick search and can't find anything.
  13. Thanks rvalkass, They're the simmilar sort of thing, but it looks like The HPs aren't avail in Australia... Or at least where I know to get them from. Not to sound ungreatful galexcd, Thanks but I don't really want another ipod. as great as the features are. And the fact it pretty much fulfills all of my criteria, I just want to be a bit different. I was considering the ipod touch, but the fact it'l become just an ipod to me. I won't completely rule it out yet. but at the moment I'm not really after an ipod touch or iphone.
  14. Do you know what Wi-Fi is? Do you realize that unless you're near a wi-fi hotspot or have your own wireless network at your home that is how you access the internet wirelessly. If you wanted access to the internet 24/7 you should have bought the iphone.
  15. Yeah I've switched to mac. Macs are great. My next one will either be a macbook pro (only got a macbook) or one of the new ultra portable pcs probably running linux. The way its looking im thinking ultra portable because my ideal macbook for $5,000. Or $5,200 if I want the 17 inch screen. For the moment I think ill go for the ultra portable option at the moment. I haven't got the five thousand odd dollars spare.
  16. The hardest part of this would be to decide. The best friend or the SMS girl. It's a big question. Who would you like to be involved with in all areas, know them inside and out, on a romantic and even intimate level. In my experience best friends don't really work, But that's just my experience. Especially really close ones. If you like her, take that leap. Take that leap anyway. I mean if it pays off, it is one of the greatest feelings. I didn't quite ask my girlfriend out, When we had a really great day together later that night I SMSed her and said I like her. She said that she wasn't ready for a relationship. This in my experience has been a 'thanks but no' kind of response. I said I'm fine with that, and that we can still be friends. She said to me that when she was ready that I'd be the only one she'd be willing to go out with. Basically what I'm saying is two things. Sometimes you have to make the first move, and when you do make it on a really good day. Be it a day when you've both had heaps of fun, or you've made her feel really good, like a bad day and you've cheered her up.The second thing I'm saying is don't write someone off just because they say or do something that in the past some girls have done and it meant that its over. The stop waving thing. That's not the end of the world. Wave, say hi. hell go over and talk to her infront of her friends.all the best. good luck
  17. I had a simmilar experience in senior year. Lets just say it sounds like you handled it a little bit better and didnt act like a *bleep*hole. I'm not sure how old or young you are. But I shall let you in on what I learned from my experience. Give her some space, it sounds like you're a bit suffocating (I did the same)You're young, if it doesn't work out there are PLENTY of great girls, hell there might be one under your nose that you kinda like, and she kinda likes you... Please refrain from any insights you may provide them about them. It will not improve you situation. In fact it may make her hate you.If you do anything to hurt her, sorry won't cut it. Don't do or say anything hurting or stupidAll the best
  18. I found Xisto by searching for free hosting. I wanted something with a decent amount of bandwidth. Storage wasn't too much of a concern, but I got a great deal Xisto all the way
  19. At the beginning of 2006 (I know it's two years now) I purchased a laptop it was a Toshiba L20 laptop. It's Stats were good and it came with another 256 Ram. At the time I was looking for a laptop around $1000 (AUD) and this one was about that. Shortly after about 2-3 months after purchase I noticed that the lid (or screen) was very tight to move, and made noises. I contacted Toshiba and they assured me that was normal. A friend who is in IT professionally said that it wasn't right. Some 10 months after I bought it toward the end of 2006, the screen joint broke. That is the joint pictured above, Where it broke is very difficult to explain, underneath the plastic surface there is a joint made of some alloy where the brace on the screen/lid puts its weight when you open/close it. The actual brace broke. which meant that you cannot open/close the lid. I got on the phone to Toshiba and they said that the case wasn't covered by warranty. I could understand if it was damaged I caused, but it was a manufacturing fault from the start. The brackets where the lid bends were way too tight. A computer repair man told me this when I asked him to look at it. My advice, If you do not already know do not buy a toshiba laptop with a lid like this one.
  20. I'm looking for a handheld device. I only know of two manufacturers Palm and blackberry. I am looking more for a PDA, not a smartphone. I would prefer not to get a phone because the phone I've got is one i really like. The features in a handheld are as follows, in order of more important to least important.Ability to sync with a mac (Even if it only syncs with its own software and not address book or anything else)SturdyWireless lan for Web browsingPDF viewerStandard features (Phonebook, calendar, notepad, scratchpad/sketchpad, picture viewer)Any suggestions would be welcome of anything that might match these needs.
  21. From the brief use of it I like it. I'm a mac user so at the moment I'm waiting for the OS X version. For a newly released beta program its pretty good. I like it. (I've use it on the desktop running windows and I liked it). So fingers crossed the mac binary comes relatively quickly unlike qtrax (which is built on songbird) which said a beta release would be out may. Oh well. from this it sounds like something worth waiting for. Maybe in the near future we might see ads suggesting that google chrome is the way to go, instead of the firefox ads we see.I still maintain Google should release an OS. I think that would be awesome!
  22. Just out of curiosity do you know why Doug Adams chose 42?
  23. I try to go to my hosted site http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and it just thinks, then it says the operation timed out. Can anyone else access my site?
  24. Things are getting out of hand, I only really noticed it this christmas, but over here in Australia there was a big stink about Santa saying 'Ho Ho Ho' which is apparently demeaning to women. I don't know about you but when women were protesting for equal rights and such in the 60s, I don't recall them kicking up a stink about santa saying 'ho ho ho' Apparently now its got to be 'he he he' or 'ha ha ha' Political correctness has gone mad, it's not ba ba black sheep anymore, its ba ba rainbow sheep now. It's gone nuts.I concur.
  25. That really isn't right. I mean singling you out, and from the sounds of it he gave you a look as he said 'not Hanukkah' And the Politcally correct term I think is 'holiday break' I mean over here in Australia a principal got in trouble for wishing their students 'merry christmas' apparently it's meant to be 'happy holidays'
