  1. Just a suggestion it worked for me when not sleeping for a couple of days and returning to normal times, try sleeping for a bit, maybe 2 hours when you get back, just enough so you will last til night. Avoid coffee as much as it appeals to you.The next day you will be a bit tired, but you will be slightly more accustomed to our time. This worked for me, it wasn't quite the same situation, but its just a suggestion, good luck and enjoy paris.
  2. How do you know if a girl likes you? You really don't unless you've got a finely tuned girldar, or a big ego (if you think enough people like you you're bound to be right eventually) I'll explain something to you that I learned: The signs guys and girls give off are different. It's like speaking to someone who only speaks Russian but speaking to them in German (Best analogy I can think of) Or speaking to a blind person in sign language. Guys and girls give off different signs. The best way is to take that vary hard leap and hope she doesn't let you fall. Tell her you like her. My current girlfriend and I liked each other for ages. Its very difficult to tell. Like I always say, If you're not sure ASK! As for the present, maybe a necklace, something small and simple that wont cost the earth, possibly a ring if she's the ring type. A Small piece of jewelery. On second thoughts maybe not for this present. That would be more of a birthday/christmas present. I like the idea of something small like a stuffed animal. Tell her something along the lines of (after her exams though, noone needs more stress going into that sort of a time) I would like to be more than friends, do you feel the same way? Hope this helped
  3. Mine is a very simmilar story, I was that guy that everyone knows, smart, but not too smart. The 'I wish I could find someone like you' guy, except that someone like me wasn't me. You can pretty much count the girlfriends I've had in high school on one hand, and have a thumb and some change left over. When I was 14, I was still coming out of my shell, I was kinda frigid (in other words nervous about being a boyfriend, and not just a friendboy). But I wanted to be that boyfriend with some great girls. I wasn't chasing the girls with the tightest bodies, or the girls with the highest marks. I was chasing the all rounder girls, girls like you. The 'date-worthy' girls. Ones that haven't got a new boyfriend every 6 months, the ones that aren't just hips, boobs and butt. The kind of girl who is the right girl for alot of guys, they just don't know it yet. You mermaid, are just like me, you should have every guy (me being a guy it would be girls) throwing themselves at you, but our kind are hardly ever seen like that. Long story short I'm now in a long term relationship with a great girl first year out of high school, Which I kinda expected looking at my older friends that were in a simmilar boat to us. When you meet the right person/s it will all happen for you. You don't need a boyfriend to have fun. I mean for a long time there I was under the impression I didn't need a girlfriend to enjoy life and I didn't. I had heaps of fun, just not worrying about girls too much, I did like alot of them though, hardly any of which liked me back, but that's a fact of life. When it happens it will happen. You will know. It might be next week, next year or after high school. But until it happens, don't fret birth rates are exactly 1:1, so there is someone for everyone, as my senior math teacher told us. Hang in there you'll meet a great guy who is crazy about you, and you'll be crazy about him. If its anything like my story you might already know each other, if you like someone tell them, don't keep it a secret. That's how you miss opportunities.
  4. I have noticed that sometimes it uses a .html extension and sometime a php page. It makes no difference to me, as long as I can post, and be part of this great forum I'm happy.
  5. I can remember reading in the newspaper that time travel was not an impossibility, the physics of how it would be possible exist, we are only limited by the amount of energy it will use (if I remember correctly) It's not as simple as Doc brown hooking up wire to the clock tower and sending lightning into the flux capacitor, I cannot remember the statistics about how much power it would require, but it was a helluvalot, I mean something like our power usage time 100. (not exact but something like that), in other words alot more than we have access to right now. It said it was definitely possible.
  6. I switched to linux after not being able to put Mac OS on a desktop computer, and the fact Linux is UNIX and OS X is built on UNIX, so its as close as I can get (legally of course)The final straw is windows, it keeps getting viruses, the computer seems to be riddled with problems only in windows, I run linux (Ubuntu or puppy linux) and it works great. If only the rest of the family wasn't so attached to windows

  8. To be honest, if money's a bit tight (or you can't get a copy of office) I think Open office is a great alternative. I will admit powerpoint beats open office impress, but Apple Keynote beats powerpoint IMHO. They say compatibility is an issue with MS office files, If you're working on it in open office, save it an use it in open office's format, and if you need to submit, just print it as a PDF or as a hard copy, That's what I do with all my assignments that aren't web pages, and I don't use open office, I use iWork, I still have to upgrade to the new one with numbers, an excel equivalent. For basic word processing, simple workbooks and basic presentations open office is great. If you're worried about compatibility, just download the portable version and take it with you on your USB.
  9. Wow. I remember hearing about this, but not hearing the results. Thanks for posting
  10. I have used google desktop and love it, just a comment, let it index your hard drive, then its doesn't use so much ram.
  11. I'm not sure how long some of you tried these for, but I was reading on the site (No I haven't tried it yet, I'm a mac user and there's no release for mac yet.)To my understanding from what I read, it's the idea of keeping saved versions of your most frequently visited pages, and each time you visit them, instead of re-loading information you've already seen, it only loads the changes. I suppose for something like that to work you'd have to use it for at least a week, if not longer.Just my 2 cents worth.
  12. Yeah there is nothing better than using a bit of old elbow grease to loosen a screw, or fix something, I was just wondering what anyone else thought about how plausible it would be. I mean if the Mythbusters can put out a fire with noise, I just wondered if it was possible, and to see what other points anyone might come up with as to how effective it (hypothetically) would be.And they've got screw drivers with a ratchet-like mechanism, which makes things easier. That is fancy enough to show off in my books.
  13. Any iPod problems try calling apple, or try the link already posted above apple ipod trouble shooting and go from there, its a step by step do this, do that if it fixes it yay. Or try taking it into an apple shop. My local apple repair shop is nice. Even if you can't go in there call them up. If it's a common problem they can talk you through how to fix if you've got enough technology knowhow. Always ask if its covered by warranty, and if not how much it would be.
  14. Apple when you think about it really almost own the handheld market, I mean, how many of us have an iPod? And an iPod Touch/iPhone? If you're talking more like an iPhone I could see it. I really don't think I could see apple making a netbook that is meant to be a fully fledged PC like an asus eepc, or the acer aspire one. I see them taking their own approach, much like they tend to do, I see it being part iPod, part iPhone but don't see it as a 'proper' (forgive the term) Mac. Mac doesn't have a stripped down version of its OS, I really don't see them making a 'mini mac netbook' that runs like a normal mac. Please note, these are only opinions Think of the features it would have, office suite itunes web browser CD combo drive (Just to be different) and specialized apps (not your standard mac apps) What do you all think?
  15. On that Wikipedia entry there is one that I really do agree with, Hoax claim number 4, that they did go to the moon, but they didn't film it, or the film was unusable. I honestly think man went to the moon, look at all the technology around? do you honestly think we couldn't land someone on the moon? And why didn't we go back? Because we've been there a six times, what is there to see after you've been there six times. If you went to an amusement park and it didn't change, it would get boring wouldn't it? Think about it, Armstrong and Aldrin would have been like, "Woohoo! Look at me Ma! I'm on the moon!"by the sixth trip it would have been like, "Look we're on the moon, look there's the footprints of the 10 people before us."
  16. I honestly don't know about being at war, to be honest I didn't even know that Microsoft has released those services. (other than live search and hotmail) I just thought that microsoft was all about copying other people's Ideas. Look at all the 'new' things in vista that were already in os x, and all the freeware stuff that Microsoft copied the ideas...Google building an operating system, I really dont know how soon it would happen or even if it would happen. I could possibly see them releasing a sort of 'web based' system. or at least a virtual drive in which you can work on documents (with google docs) and do various other sorts of files. I could see that, maybe doing a re-mastered linux. Developing a few programs for it.I would fully trust a google operating system... unlike Microsoft
  17. I have to disagree with you there. homosexuals are people too, they want love. a majority of those stories you hear about a romp in a public toilet block or something simmilar are mostly people who haven't accepted it, who are still in the closet, who possibly have a wife and /or children. I have been brought up to accept Homosexuals, there is nothing wrong with it (admittedly this is only my opinion) but they are just like the rest of us. They need to feel loved. And to be honest, how many relationships have you had that weren't oriented around love, maybe lust or looks.
  18. First off I'm not talking about the gadget that can do everything, the all in one that makes a funky noise. I am talking about a simple gizmo that undoes and does screws by emitting frequencies that would vibrate the screw enough to remove / do it up.I could possibly see one that only unscrews, but not screws, not to mention the fact they would all have different resonant frequencies... What does everyone else think? any ideas as to how plausible it could be?
  19. Here are some suggestions:1. clear the ipod of all music (I would do this by Making a dud playlist that's empty and telling it to sync ONLY that dud playlist) after doing that maybe try putting on some of the offending songs into that dud playlist and try it then. See if that works. If it does, then re-sync your library (or the songs you had on it) and see if that worked.2. Format the iPod unplug it (it should give the message 'use itunes to restore' or something to that effect) plug it in, and let her rip. see if that sucker works3. Call your apple store and ask for their advice, if there's anything you can do, if not take it to them.Hope this helped
  20. I am looking at getting a PDA/Palm pilot/handheld organizer device. I really don't know whats out there. I don't want a smartphone, I don't want the phone that does it all. I don't like it when one gadget does it all, the only thing that I have that can do everything, and I like it to do everything is my leatherman (A multi-tool like a gerber. A swiss army knife on steroids if you will) I really don't like it when things do everything. The iPhone (not that I hate it) It just does too much, its an ipod, PDA, game device, secretary and phone all rolled into one. I don't see anything wrong with an iPhone, just I don't want one gadget to rule them all, one that replaces the need for a phone, organizer, pen and paper, and a bunch of other things. I would love something that has a timetable/Calendar, contact manager, drawing & writing pad. I would take a keyboard over handwriting recognition. When I think about it what I need is: Contacts Calendar Drawing pad Notepad reminders Something that syncs with my mac But I feel that that is the bare minimum there are other things I would love but are not a necessity like email software, WiFi conectivity. When it boils down to it what I want is essentially a handheld computer. I know alot of people would be thinking iPhone or iPod Touch at the moment, and I am too, There's a bunch of things that I want to be able to do aswell like edit word files, a bit of image creation (like acorn). To be honest I would love something as flexible as pen and paper itself, except a digital version that doesnt get scrunched up. I really don't know what I want. But what are some good PDAs that are flexible and sturdy
  21. Yeah I'm not that well versed in Linux, I can install, run and do a few things, but nothing really indepth.Puppy, Damn Small linux. I might give Arch a try, see how I go. And Ubuntu is really a great Distro. I reccomend it for running on an actual PC, but as im running in an emulator I want something light that won't use too much space, so the distros i've used of ubuntu arent really an option. as great as it is.Thanks for the advice
  22. I didn't think about Java apps on phones... Thanks
  23. Does anyone know what phones out there can read PDFs?I know the iPhone can.
  24. And I forgot, unless there is an agreement to the contrary, anything you create in your working day (Unless you are freelance) the copyright is owned by the employer who commissioned the works. So if you've got to do stuff, do them at home that way you own the copyright
