I'm a newbie, and know a bit about HTML code, and I find NVU (which is basically Kompozer) is great. But i found another one which lets you edit the bare code and then preview... It's called smultron, and i think is mac only. I love it. its perfect for what i know. Image editing i use Acorn, a shareware baby which is awesome. its between MS paint and Gimp. Basic but not too much so. I like it an i think its also mac only.

I Have Some Problem I want my pc to connect multiple pc
saitunes replied to callme's topic in Computer Networks
I have had trouble with remote desktop in windows (Not knocking it... it just doesn't seem to work for me ever) and I found out about a little utility called VNC... I don't know what it stands for Virtual network connection I think... if you install VNC server on each of them (provided their IP address stays the same) and you can remotely control them. I had a problem with that, i just thought it was because i was trying to access it on a laptop connacted via wireless network. -
PC or mac? I use PsyncX for my mac, (mainly because i don't have leopard... with time machine)I used a trial version of an NTI backup program, and it worked well... ALAS it was not free and only gave me limited backups... Which was fine since I used it when I was backing up my data to do a fresh install of windows on my windows machine.

I don't know about anyone else, but most computers you buy (with the exception of macs, second hand ones and a few from Dell i think put ubuntu on some machines) have a copy of windows. Now, I had an OEM copy on my desktop. Long story short the Motherboard needed replacing, and becauese the OEM copy only worked for "ACER" systems the CD wouldn't work with the new motherboard installed. Long story short the man who fixed my computer put windows on it.My question is, What is the big deal with "illegal" copies of windows, I am of course referring to situations such as the ones I described. It came with Windows XP, and there's a different copy of windows XP... what is the difference? I already have on licensed to the computer.>>>Besides that, The copy that is running on the acer machine is SP1, and the version I had pre installed was SP2...

What Music Software Do You Use To Play Music?
saitunes replied to saitunes's topic in General Discussion
baby boomer, if you want a light-weight one for windows, try the one i mentioned earlier, QCD, as long as its just a playlist or something simmilar... but if you want something with a media library you should try the beta QMP. (the only difference between teh two of them is the media library) it's my favorite media player because its light, customizable and free. just look at some of the plugins and skins, and if you're a whiz with code you can make your own plugins, and if you have gimp or photoshop you can make your own skins... When i use windows, its my prefered media player for ALL applications. It's never let me down once... of course occaisonally if i get a dodgy plugin or a conflicting plugin it might crash it, but since its in beta, i only add one plugin per session. plus its compatible with winamp dsp (and im pretty sure) encoders and playback plugins -
What Music Software Do You Use To Play Music?
saitunes replied to saitunes's topic in General Discussion
I'm not knocking iTunes, iTunes does alot for a free program... Just when I'm multitasking, and i'm just listening to music, i just want a simple media player that plays music... when I'm multi tasking... i want stuff that use as little as possible memory usage. When I was a PC user, using QMP/QCD from http://quinnware.com/, Its light, does everything, ripping, encoding, converting, it uses CDDB for importing tags, its basically winamp, but i like it a bit better. compatible with most winamp plugins, think of it as Winamp PRO for free... essentially -

What Music Software Do You Use To Play Music?
saitunes replied to saitunes's topic in General Discussion
I just found a freeware one called cog... and it's a simple player which is what i want... iTunes is good and cool, but if i just want a light player its a big too much for what i want sometimes... Cog is pretty good try it -
What music software do you use? I'm talking free or free versions of stuff... I'm on a mac, and use iTunes... it's good, but I'm looking for a decent free player... On a PC I LOVED QMP (quinntessential media player) which is beta and QCD (same thing but without a media library) It had so much freedom of use... and was based on old winamp code, so its fairly stable... Any ideas?

What's Your Music Player you current music player device
saitunes replied to hulunes's topic in General Discussion
I have three choices (all of which are in no particular order)#My Ipod nano 8GB/MP3s & AACs the old style before they introduced video... I like the look of it more so than the new ones, but that's just a personal preference. #Cds- I use a CD walkman i bought for $20 from a cheapie shop, I use it for home use because it hasn't got anti-shock... and if i blow on it too hard it skips (not literally)/#Vinyl- I love vinyl, Not something you think you'd hear a 17 year old say is it? I love the texture of vinyl(the sound), its just has something that Digital doesn't. It like it better than tape because of the fact it doesn't deteriorate like tape... They both do, but I prefer vinyl to tape. -
Know About Any Free And Legal Music Downloads?
saitunes replied to sweet_princess's topic in Software
There's a new file sharing program which is legal and i read about it in the paper. http://www.qtrax.com/ it works with Record labels, and that how its legal... I'm a mac user and the beta release for mac isn't out until mid march... but the windows one is. Check it out -
There's a number of different ways you can go. In my opinion, best option is to get a mac. it comes with garageband, and AWESOME program to compose & Record music in (and it's free with any new mac) or part of iLife for $99. Next is hardware, an interface. There are tonnes around, M-box mini from 500 bucks, you can spend about $200-$300 and get a decent one I think. Then the mics... Depending on the instruments, Shure SM58 or SM57, around $200 bucks. They will last. Peace Out

I have to say this1. Love the Metal Gear Solid Series, As stand alone games, they are great. as a series they are great The only thing is the next one is only on ps3... and i haven't got the money to fork out for a ps3, but i suppose i will one day. I bought one on pc off ebay just because it was the only one i didn't have. I love the gameplay, the action sequences. The cutscenes. All very cinematic. And the first one and the third one have different endings or paths you can walk down. I haven't worked it out yet in number 2...2. I love The Matrix: Path of Neo, Being a big matrix fan I wanted to get the game, but everywhere i saw it it was like 100 bucks... and then i saw it at Wow sight and sound for 20 bucks... i grabbed it as soon as i could. i love it, the way you fight and play. Not to mention the final level being introduced by the brothers 'Yeah the martyr ending works for the film, but not for a game' and the level you fight a giant smith, made of of heaps of normal smiths and buildings and stuff... its AWESOME3. Gotta love doom 2/duke nukem 3d... all those dos 3d games... I love them.

What Is Your Fav Gta Game? Gta SA,Gta III,etc...
saitunes replied to flash4satheesh's topic in Computer Gaming
I love the old GTA ones, i love looking at the dodgy graphics... and the fact that it was an 18+ game in its time is hillarious. I like old retro games... ill take space invaders over most of the new games out now. its simple, clear cut... and difficult in its own right, takes a certain kind of skill. Space invaders, pong, missile command, tetris... all those old ones I love them. Favorite driving series would have to be Driver, the driver series. It was in 3d, beat GTA there, and i don't think GTA made it to 3d before GTA 3 on ps2. But my fave GTA game is Vice city, it was fun, good story, good graphics, something new... The liberty city stories... rip off of GTA 3 meets San andreas, they need to come up with a new idea. VIVA LA VICE CITY! -
I haven't used Vista for an extended period, Call me crazy but I'm not a fan of spending 100's of $$ on a DVD which is essentially 1's and 0's... I am a mac user, yes, running tiger. See unlike Microsoft Apple make the hardware as well as the software, so they know the strengths and weaknesses of each. And because they make a majority of the software for the mac, they don't charge alot... because they've got a cut before you bought it. They would just be triple (because they get a cut for the OS & The computer itself) dipping if they were charging alot for their software. Lets weight this up, Mac Vs. Pc The latest operating system: Mac OS X Leopard ($129 single user, $199 Family pack (4 or 5 licenses i think) Windows vista Home Basic ($385 single license) Windows Vista Ultimate ($754) Lets review shall we? Leopard (which doesn't have a basic version with all the cool stuff turned off btw.) #$129, 199 for 5 licenses (i think) #Specs fit computers upto 4+ years old Vista *Different versions, different costs none of which is under $300 brand new *Very Heavy on the graphics.. I have used XP before I became a Mac user... And it was good, Except that once every six months or so i would have to back everything up and run the recovery disk, then have to re-install all my software. With my mac I've had for almost a year, I HAVE had to clean out my documents folder and such... but never had to do a clean recovery. I used linux for a while (edubuntu) and I thought it was ok... I never really got into it for very long. I do however like 'puppy linux' a lightweight version of linux. Very basic, word processor, net browser and a few other handy utils... The only thing was i didn't have drivers for it to work with my hardware which was the end of a perfectly good linux OS... Basically My point of view on the matter is this: No matter what you do, it all comes down to the user. Some people like macs, some like windows and others like freeware operating systems like linux, darwin and such... I prefer mac because i have not had a problem which was unprovoked. When finder crashes (The equivalent to explorer) other programs are generally not affected and i can relaunch easily. in otherwords... when explorer trips, windows falls over. With mac, when a program freezes, its generally the only thing that freezes... and when i it CMD+Option+ESC(CTRL ALT DEL equivalent) it pops up fairly quick... and isn't built into the finder... which means when finder dies... it doesn't, unlike windows task manager... And the mysterious "No viruses for mac" Conundrum... its sprung a few conspiracy theories as to Microsoft knowing the vunerabilities, and giving those to virus developers/anti-virus developers... not to mention the numerous "security updates" Windows, if you're going to make an operating system, finish it. And if there are a few problems... yeah update them. But finish them first. The countless updates, every few days 'security update' this or 'priority update' that... My mac- once a month or so an update or two (mainly when new versions of apple software (itunes, quicktime, safari, has a new release... or the pro apps have been updated, occaisionally there's a firmware update, but i've only had one of those i think. Long story short, I'm not a huge fan of windows anymore, The best PC I had was a p2 i think with 600mHz processor, 32 mb ram with a 1.5 GB hard drive running windows 98... only crashed once, and that was when we tried to load sim city 2000 on it... which it couldn't handle. It all comes down to what you want to do with your computer, but always keep your mind open. play with a mac next time you get a chance. Notice from rvalkass: System requirements aren't original material, so they need to be quoted.

Its interesting when you look at the numbers of females vs. males who do web building... I know so many girls who are AWESOME at web design, and building the sites themselves... not using the shortcuts like finding a free layout and using the css style. I know a few women who do it for a living... and its pretty interesting to see the demographic of this. I like the idea behind it.
