  1. I suggest getting to know her. Try to do it without her thinking you're leading her on. It can End disastrously. Trust me, it's happened before. I've had girls like me and at the time didn't feel the same way and I closed the door by telling them they weren't right for me and such. Later as I got to know them I started liking them for who they were, I was too afraid to tell her how I felt, and she has become one of those 'What if?' girls that I think about sometimes. Look past her imperfections and be a bit deeper. Some girls might not be 'classically beautiful' but they are great people who you would want to be with once you get to know them.
  2. I'm a mac user and firefox won't open PDFs for me. It's really weird. It will download and open them in preview (apple's Stock standard PDF and image viewer). and in the 'change how firefox handles different types of files' I haven't got a PDF option. Nor can I create one.Any Ideas?
  3. WOW! I can't believe it, firefox hasn't even had a mention, I use a mac and I'm a huge fan of firefox, the customizability is AWESOME... For my web designing i use a freebie (i think its mac only) called sunrise, just a light free web browser i use for previewing my site stuff... I will give safari (apple's web browser) an honourable mention simply because its got the 'show all active objects' which is basically THE WAY to download youtube videos, swf files, even MP3s played on a website... i haven't used the windows version so i'm not sure if it has it (but i would think it does)-Saitunes
  4. I agree with wischi, Miranda IM is awesome... I've used pidgin and its ok... i like miranda tho... it has IRC too, i dont konw about pidgin, oh wait it does... i just read the above post
  5. If its not real it could just be a version of linux thats been customized... i mean there's some good ones out there that can let you do things like that
  6. Truth be told you could probably knock up something simmilar (or design it and get a professional to build it) If you found a screen/touchscreen big enough to be mounted in the table, you could use a Mac Mini for the computer, or you could build your own, i mean as long as the computers kept cool it really doesn't matter what size or shape does it?I've often thought of designing a chair like that, touch screen flat screen monitor, wireless headphones, keyboard, internet... i think it would be cool
  7. I think that its like an in built safety mechanism that if something bad (like death) is about to occur in the dream out brain pulls us out before its too late... I've had plenty of times where I was about to die, (falling etc.) and just before i wake up heart pounding...I voted no, but i think its maybe possible, if your brain doesn't get you out...
  8. How about, "Myspace or yours?""Beauty is only a lightswitch away""you know what would look good on you? Me" or my all time favorite,"I wanna kiss you and take a dump on your chest"

    I Hate Greenday!

Has anyone looked at the waveform of american idiot? its full on... im not a huge fan, but i don't hate them... if you don't know what i mean open american idiot in audacity... and look at how full on it is
  10. i will say this:I am a mac fan, as stated, so i have a bias toward mac. I have used linux and i do like some of the distros, and linux is good if you know what you're doing. my favorites are puppy linux and edubuntu... they're versions of linux i can get my head around... I like them. The thing that ruffles my feathers about windows is stupid error messages. I got one on the desktop which said 'cannot mount boot volume' which to me says its unable to mount the drive i.e. cannot load windows... do you know its suggested remedy for this? Boot in safe mode. If it was a hardware problem yes, but not when it can't load the drive to start the OS... When my mac has something wrong (which hasn't happened more than once in the nearly 12 months ive had the mac) it told me that a program has crashed and affected the stability of OS X, reboot and if the problem persists contact the vendor of the software.Another thing that makes macs better in my opinion is the fact when finder launches (like explorer on windows) the whole thing doesn't die on me, or need a reboot. It just relaunches and hey presto its back... and when you relaunch it, it doesn't say 'this program is not responding would you like to end it?' even thought thats what you just told it to do that... Macs are better thought out, better planned and they are designed to minimize the BSOD, the blue screen of death (bsod) is normally caused by hardware-os integration problems. Why don't microsoft start making hardware (as in computers not just video game systems) to minimize (it should extremely minimize if they do it properly) the pet hate of most of their users. As for linux, I love the distros ive used puppy and edubuntu, easy to use, simple (unlike trying to install redhat) The only reason I haven't converted the big computer to linux is because of my little brother's game collection... I think the distros ive got would make even grandmas use their computers effectively (maybe...)You might like windows... but if you've got an old pc kickin around, find some linux distros and experiment with it... and next time they've got some macs on show for you to play with, have a look.... oh and BTW, Ea games are now releasing alot more games for both PC and Mac...
  11. Don't knock it till you've tried it. What is the one problem with windows? harware integration. Macs do not have this situation because they make the basic hardware... I used to be like you, didn't want to touch or even breath on macs... but then i tried one and i love it. Next time you're at the shops and they have them on display... check it out, have a play. I think you might like it. but its all down to your preference. As for the tired of hearing the 'they stole it' yes, true. But the thing is that the impression i get from windows is its their idea. like they came up with it... thats what ruffles my feathers
  12. Thanks, that clears that up. Thank you all for answering my question
  13. yet another vote for google, its the best for alot of people, and with all their additional types of searches (google scholar etc.) its incredibly easy
  14. I Can't believe MS office is not on that list... or windows for that matter
  15. Well, Firefox is plain better than most of whats out there. Not to mention its huge ability to be customized with the millions of extensions out there. on a pc, i use firefox, on my mac i use camino which is a cocoa (I don't actually know what cocoa is on a mac) port or version of firefox... I did have firefox but it kept crashing so i switched to camino which described by mozilla as 'Firefox Mac style'I Love firefox
  16. Windows never crashes without reason... It crashes routinely... GOSH! get it right... naah, it's true. If its inconvenient, (e.g you've just written a whole assignment and its only autosaved which works when you don't need what was in the file, and you go to save it and then MS word crashes, then the whole system loses stability... and crashes...)Windows recently was giving me an error on the desktop computer (my laptop is a mac... and is WAY better than windows, not having to re-install the operating system ever is very very good (unlike windows) I will admit I do get a bit anal and clean out the caches every once-in-a-while which i can automate to run every whenever i want it to. (all built in to os X))back to the error i kept getting, when booting up it said 'boot volume unmountable' which to me says that it can't mount/open the hard drive that windows is on... and it suggests that you run it in safe mode. Can anyone see the flaw in that? I had to use a linux live CD to format the drive (luckily I've got 2 HDs, one for windows, and the other for the files) so i just formatted the drive and re-installed windows... for the 2nd time in two weeks! If it wasn't such a windows world (or the fact my bro has a tonne of games which are PC-Only that he plays reglarly) I would be happy to convert it to a linux system, for one i wouldn't have to periodically have to re-install it.
  17. first gaming system... i think it was a gameboy pocket, green one, i've still got it. first computer was a dodgy 300-odd mHz processor, 32 mb ram, 1.5 GB HD... best windows computer ever
  18. Personally, I don't like microsoft products anymore, ever since i starrted using mac, i've not had to re-install, i've not lost files unexplainedly, its easier to understand... yada yada yada this morning the family computer (running windows XP) wouldn't boot up. I gave a bsod (blue screen of death) and it said 'boot volume not mountable' or something to that description. it suggested safe mode (which I don't get... It can't start up windows at all... so it can't start up safe mode yes?) which i tried to no avail, then i tried different 'debug' modes of windows... still not working. So i stuck in a linux live cd of puppy linux- an AWESOME distro which is basic, simple and fast. I didn't want to erase the disk or anything... so i tried to mount it... no problem (except it can't write values to it, regardless) i thought ok, it's mounting lets try a reboot... it rebooted same bsod, so i booted up linux and ran a disk util, tried to change a property about the disk (write like 5mb before the windows partition) and then i applied the changes, and rebooted... fixed...The reason I don't like windows is at times its not thought out properly... above is a prime example, if it can't read the harddrive with the OS on it... then it can't boot up in safe mode. And I don't like how when something crashes explorer dies... its annoying, (xp not vista, never used vista)I've said this a few times in the forums, but my favorite computer, that i had no unexplained problems was a pc that had 32mb ram, 1.5GB HD, and i think a 300-odd mHz processor... it has since been given away... I will probably buy one simmilar to it and use it for personal/business use. Web, email, invoicing etc. etc.
  19. The only reason I asked this was because i asked a friend and he wasn't too sure, the thought as long as the embedded video wasn't hosted on your site, then it shouldn't count towards your bandwidth. Thanks guys and girls.
  20. stay friends, its the best option. if you and your boyfriend for whatever reason don't work out, you'll have another friend to turn to, and if you still like him and he has simmilar feelings... well you can work out the rest
  21. we had 2 computer guys, and one girl... the girl was good, and she had some good ideas... but the other two just seemed to chase their tails or say the inevitable, 'you can't do that on the school system... how did you do that?' and such...
  22. I have my own. I programmed it locally, and just use the local file. It has links to where i go most times, and a google search box at the top (despite the fact that there's one in every browser now)
  23. I have a question, and I couldn't post it in the internet forums, because im a new user....my question is this:If i embed a video into my website, and people visit my website and watch the embeded video, is that counted in your bandwidth?I can think of reasons both for and against... or is it depending upon your provider?
  24. I had the novel idea the other day about an internet based confession service for the catholic church. e.g "fill out the for below confessing your sins and one of our fathers will reply with the appropriate course of action... What do you think? I thought of it as a kind of a joke... do you think it has merit?
  25. the amount of things that 'cause' cancer is growing... but then again i remember there was a simmilar trend between cow flatulence and the hole in the o-zone layer...
