    Yep! As soon as the accounts are linked you should be credited for previous posts. IIRC all posts are counted, but they set up the system a while back so I don't remember 100% sure how that worked for intial credits.

    I'll toss out the vote for Netbeans. I've been using it for PHP and while it takes a bit of getting used to (due to the IDE layout/setup), I've found it excellent. Even as a newbie coder that is just now learning PHP it's been more than helpful in helping out with things like code completion and stuff. Basically I can start coding and let it give hints along the way to help finish it.Programs like Dreamweaver do that as well. I'm not sure what others are comparable though.

    Yeah, I love how the only thing you can do without having an account is to search their available books. It asks for the entire book name and guess why... type random letters in there, such as "jsldjfklsjdflkjsdf" and it will show all the download links for that "book." See the above for an example.

    As far as I know, no servers require a graphics card. The server only interprets the data the client sends, checks/verifies it and responds accordingly. Any graphical things are done on the client-side. *Though* some have figured out how to force GPU's to run the mathematics for non-graphical programs as well, but that's a different thing altogether.

    That's a pretty cool app and looks clean. I like the GUI.But how does it calculate what is the "optimal route?" Does it use the total distance or account for speeds? Ex. 20 miles at 30MPH is a lot slower than 30 at 60MPH. And does it also account for things like construction, toll roads, etc.?

    I'm going to go ahead and bring up Unity3d here. It's an excellent engine that works on scripting you can pick up easily (JavaScript, C#, and others). And you can create any type of game with it, .

    There are slight issues with the way it responds when you are flipping through books (like sometimes it just... I guess doesn't feel right?) but there's really not any big problems I've experienced with it. The only things I did with it though were watch a movie (Amazon VOD -- the Fire comes with a free month of Prime, by the way) and add a few books. I know it can do more like go online and all but that's what a PC is for, .

    Like Velma said, check your junk mail. When you go to resend your verification, also verify that the email address is correct. Often times people will miss, add or typo a single letter and not notice it.

    I don't really view there as being a way to be "addicted" to a computer itself. Everything today runs on computers. It's hard to think of what would happen to our day-to-day lives without them. I feel they are just part of our world now, so the "addiction" would have to be related to a certain part: "addicted to gaming," for example, makes sense. But an overall addiction to computers as a whole is a bit far-fetched.

    I have a video capture card that also has a 1-2 second lag before it shows anything, but I've only ever used onboard sound. I always assumed it was just part of the way it works since the PC has to draw in and convert the signal to a viewable format...

    Always, always, ALWAYS host your own blog. You can't do this with Blogger, and it's one of the most fundamental things of starting your own website. If you plan to take it anywhere other than just showing off to friends/family, you want to ensure that you're the owner of it. Otherwise you really don't have any control - as an example, Blogger could just one day decide to ban you, and then you lose everything.As a result, by the choices you've given I'd go with Wordpress, but self-hosted, not on their site.

    Pretty much what he said. I don't see the point of hardware virtualization anyways, being that it doesn't really help with graphical applications. As an example, games still run horribly. I've only been able to use virtual OS's for non-graphical things, with or without it.

    Adsense works on a bidding mechanism. The highest bidder of the advertisers for each block get the spot. I've seen a single click be worth as much as $30, depending on the site, placement and advertiser. So it's definitely possible to make $10 off 300 visitors if you optimize everything right.

    I don't see how it being in PHP can affect the reliability/scalability. There are many websites that have hundreds of thousands/millions of visitors daily and have 0 issues, all run on PHP. In fact, as far as I know all the major CMS's (at least the open-source ones) all rely on PHP, as well as the major forum boards. I think it has more to do with the coding efficiency than it does the language.

    I'll vote Call of Duty as the best just because it's more realistic. Halo is 100% sci-fi and has no real-world relevance. Call of Duty can help with learning (and understanding) history, military actions and more. The educational benefit of it alone (plus the fact that the kills are much more realistic, as are the maps) make it the better choice to me.

    Could just be that they haven't gotten around to taking care of it yet. Just using a URL shortener doesn't change what it is. And whether you are the owner of the site(s) in question or not, if you get any direct benefit from the links (which is what referrals are) that is advertising.

    Mine updates every few days (it's taken as much as a week at times). Just be patient with it and it will update.

    My grandparents just got a Kindle Fire for Christmas and I agree - it's definitely a tablet. I don't see much use of it myself since I have a laptop for portability and the Fire weighs a bit as well. I haven't fully tested the battery on the Fire yet, just messed around with it to download some books and stuff for them, .

    I tried getting into League of Legends but it just wasn't really good in my eyes. After playing it for many days I learned that everyone either:A) isn't good at it and causes you to lose because they refuse to listen/learn orB) is an elitestIt just drained any fun I'd otherwise have in it. I think I had like two matches out of many hours that didn't fit in A/B.

    As far as I know, referral links are not allowed. I'd like clarification on this as well though just to be sure. I'd think they would fall under "advertising."

    Good review! I think anyone who's serious about web design needs to start getting into learning HTML5 because it's "the way of the future." You can do many things in it that used to only be available via flash (videos/charts) and since it's all native code, it runs significantly faster.Though, I'll admit, at 85 pages I have doubts as to how thorough the book here truly is. That just seems pretty short unless it's just a "learn the new things and changes" book and not a full overview.

    Keep in mind that the decade plan is very limited. It's great to use as a testing site or something like that but for a site you plan to take live and build up a decent amount of traffic for, it won't last long. I personally have a site on the decade plan just so I can test live changes before they actually go out. I don't use the site publicly or anything. And for the price you can't beat it!
