  1. The final strike looks like what I'd expect to see -- it doesn't look like it was slowed, either. Hence the confusion, .
  2. I don't really see how this would work. How could they use their "lighter" to create the spark? And how could they keep it from burning themselves? I have wondered about the possibility of dragons myself, but when it comes to how people view these, the more I look at it the more I realize that people must have embellished on what they were like. A massive creature that is capable of flight? Sure. Able to breathe fire, while not hurting themselves? Unlikely. There are many large animals. There are many animals capable of flight. But (as far as I know?) there are none that can breathe fire.
  3. I think the lack of privacy has always been here, it just wasn't as widely publicized as it is now. They've had the technology to do it for a while, so I don't see why people think they haven't been doing it. Just because it's becoming a media-spread event doesn't make it new. It's like people who feel that kidnappings/murders didn't happen 50-60 years ago. I'm sure they did, they just weren't all over the media since it wasn't like it is today. Now something can happen and it can be on TV, live, within a few minutes all over the world.
  4. Shouldnt the "top" marker tell it where the top of the div should be located in relation to the screen as a whole (in this case being almost at the top of the screen)?I've personally had no issues with using margins. Using padding increases the size of the div -- margins shouldn't.
  5. I don't like the idea of these cars because assuming they are completely automated, how can you account for people who aren't being attentive and aren't in these types of cars? I highly doubt it'd be feasible to force every current car to be taken off the road to allow these to take over, so you will always have people who are in control of their own vehicles. When they're drunk and/or inattentive, that puts your life in danger. And if you can't even control your car, that makes it even worse.
  6. I think this is something people just don't take into consideration. And it's pretty obvious why they do it, too (because if people do anything illegal via their system they have to be able to show law enforcement *who* it was, otherwise they take the fall). I would never trust a proxy with anything of importance, especially things like passwords.
  7. This is an amazing image but I have doubts about it being real. Based on lightning I've seen it's all done in a split second - I've never seen anything branch out like that does. The only way I can see this being a real thing is if it's just slowed down significantly to catch what we can't see with the human eyes. It's hard to tell if that's the case though.
  8. The point is to keep people from being able to post content that isn't theirs. Yours might belong to you, but many others may try to abuse the system by posting things that don't belong to them. It's one of the situations where the actions of few have to come down on many.
  9. Ah, they are but it doesn't go in reverse -- external doesn't mean portable, .
  10. This definitely makes sense. I hadn't really thought of it that way. The MyCents do in fact appear to be counted more often, but when the amount of them is lower it doesn't really benefit as much, .
  11. Hey all, I'm curious as to if any of you long-time members have noticed a massive change in MyCents and the amount you earn. I took a break for a few months due to getting caught up with some thing in real-life, as well as had issues with the lack of others posting here (there were many days with 0 posts at all for 24 hours, and sometimes as many as 2-3 days with 0 posts). Now that I'm back, I went through and replied/took part in many different topics. But what I've noticed is that earnings are so low now that they are almost non-existent. As an example, prior to my break 10 posts would be about $0.80 or so (usually more -- I was getting up to $0.20 per depending on a lot of factors). But as of now, with 15-20 posts I don't even pass the $0.50 mark.Curious as to if others have run into the same thing. As it is, there's no way I can see it being possible to keep up my site's hosting considering at the moment I run $28 or so a year for domains and another $72 or so for the hosting itself. At the current rate that'd be around 3,000-4,000 posts needed a year, and due to the lack of activity that's really a long shot.Is there anything else we can do to help keep up our hosting? Some of us have been here for multiple years (I've been here 4.5 myself) and have never gotten warnings, been in trouble, etc. and have taken great pride in both the site and our own accomplishments. It just feels like all of it's going to waste now.
  12. I think you mean first "portable" HDD's. External ones go much bigger than that -- last August I picked up a couple 3TB external HDD's for under $90 each, .
  13. What happens to our site when Cloudflare is down? For example, today at least for a couple hours the entire network has been offline (cloudflare.com, the wiki, the blog, etc.). I've run it through downforeveryoneorjustme.com as well as it shows it offline too.I'm kind of scared now, to switch to where I'd be relying on it, just to find out that when it crashes the site goes offline (due to NS and everything).
  14. Hey all, I've recently tried to get my site backed by Cloudflare but am unable to figure out how... I transferred my NameServers to theirs and from that point on the site was unable to be accessed. According to their site we need things like A records and more, of which I'm unsure where to even find them all.Has anyone here successfully used Cloudflare with Xisto - Web Hosting?
  15. Thanks Velma, The biggest thing I can think of off the top of my head is wondering if there's automatic backups, and if so, how often they're done. Regarding the bandwidth cost differences, I meant like: Right now I have one of my hosting on the logic plan. This allows 10GB of bandwidth but recently I needed more so I was able to upgrade *just* the bandwidth to 50 GB for another $0.99. In my case, I don't need a lot of space, but due to influx of visitors I do occasionally need to get bigger and bigger bandwidth packages. I'm wondering if we can do the same thing with these (only upgrade bandwidth, without changing packages) and if so what the costs would be and how it's tiered (ex. Logic is 10gb = free, 50GB = $0.99, 100GB = $1.99... not sure about past that, assume 50GB is $1 extra per).
  16. I agree! We could just as easily have classes that you go from one to the next in and as you gain the knowledge needed to pass the "advancement exam" for the class you get to move on to the next. The whole standardization of our educational system really holds people back. Especially when everyone gets stalled because someone flat out doesn't WANT to learn.
  17. I just got two of those emails. I'm a bit lost though... does this have a higher uptime reliability and more stability with many people visiting at once? There's really not enough information to help make informative decisions on whether or not it's worth making the move to one of these packages. Also, if you choose Power Package 1 and just need more bandwidth, is it possible to upgrade to 50GB/100GB? If so, what is the cost for doing so?
  18. Definitely a great find! It makes me wonder what we have in store for DW6 and the other programs... I just wish there were bigger upgrades, especially considering the price range of the programs. A lot of the changes feel like they should be minor fixes to throw in for free.
  19. The more I read about these situations the more I feel that what happens is they do the checks when it's time to pay, rather than in real-time. With hundreds of thousands of accounts (or millions?) it wouldn't be feasible to constantly check every single account. But checking before payments, being that they are much more rare, is quick and efficient.
  20. This. Right here. I've been hosted with Xisto for quite a while now (multiple years) and have only had hiccups from time to time. I think the premium hosting also includes better support than Qupis (though I'm not 100% sure?). But either way, the one earned via the forums is just like you'd normally pay for, and you can also use myCents for things like domains.
  21. On the other end of this does anyone know how to properly protect pdf documents to avoid tools like the ones in this thread from working?
  22. Ah, your issue is that you have it set to "continue looping as long as there's more data." What you want to do is instead of have a while loop just erase the entire loop and output row 0 (which is really the first row).
  23. Sadly the only way to get any change with this is to get enough people to boycott them until they drop the client. But the chances of that happening are almost non-existent, especially with all of the deals they have going. I, for one, will never play a Steam game though. I can't support that type of behavior.
  24. I think the quality of sound has a huge impact on the effectiveness as well. When using these things, it's been said that it's better to use noise-canceling headphones that are comfortable, as opposed to just having speakers up. More or less you want to completely immerse yourself, .
  25. Rofl, I love the cards. Did you design the pictures though or take them from elsewhere?
