Re-use and re-useUsing Same Serial # On Multiple Copies Of WindowsI don't know why everyone is having problems with multiple installs of XP. I've installed it on 4 different machines (all running at the same time) and used the same key for all 4 systems. They're my computers, I built all but 1 (a laptop...Not that talented, yet. Lol), and I bought the software legally. It's my belief that Microsoft is operating illegally when they try to make you buy multiple copies of the same software to install on different computers. I can understand it if the systems aren't all yours, but if you own a desktop and a laptop and want to get rid of the crap that manufacturers install on them (if you bought the desktop pre-built, that is), then you should be able to do a complete wipe of both systems' hdds and complete fresh installs of XP on BOTH systems using the SAME key. What I mean by crap is all the stupid advertisements for different programs that most people don't need or want. You know...All the retarded 60-day trial BS. I install what I want or need and ONLY what I want or need. I also like to partition my drives into two or three, even four smaller drives. That way if one partition fails from a virus or some such attack, most of my info will be safe and I can just wipe that partition and reinstall. As far as using Linux goes, I hesitate doing that because I'm not sure about how well it supports all the new hardware that's out there. I.E., multi-core CPUs, DDR3 memory, overclocking capable MBs, high-end video cards, etc. Etc. And for you crApple fans, you can keep your grossly over-priced pieces of ****. Every time I hear some crApple fan raving about his glorified paperweight, it always brings to mind the old saying: "A fool and his money..." Seriously...Why in the world would you pay $1300+ for a computer when you can get the same exact system (CPU, MB, Mem, HDD, Opt) running at the same exact speeds for less than HALF that cost? It boggles the mind! Oh well, it's your money. Waste it however you like. Speaking of which...I got clock/calculator, here, that I'm looking to get a couple hundred bucks out of. Any crApple fans want it? New E-mail Notification - not working and other areas of soundSystem Sounds Not WorkingI have Outlook Express 6 and Windows XP Professional. Yesterday my New e-mail notification (ding) will not Ding. Also, in OE when I Delete a group of e-mails in the delete section, no "Beep" asking do you want to permanently delete. And then the music for Start Up and Shut Down. Other places in a Microsoft doc certain things that usually Beep are not. However, I have sound. I have a Rapid Text Player and it works fine there. Also, received e-mails with sound, fine. Windows Media Player, fine. I have checked and rechecked all area I.E. Tools, Options, New Mail Notify, Sounds and Devices nothing muted, everything checked right there as well. Going crazy. i have a 2 year old dell inspiron 1520 laptop. about 6 months ago i bought a 9 cell battery since i needed longer battery life with out plugging it in. about 2 months after that, the battery stopped charging. the computer would only work when it was plugged in, but wouldnt charge. my normal battery did the same thing when i switched the batteries. the ac adapter's green light is on so i know the adapter is working, and i also tried to plug my computer into a different dell 1520 wall charger, but still nothing. all it will do is keep the computer on, and as soon as i take it off the charger, the laptop shuts off. i cannot contact dell since i dont have a warranty and it costs money to even talk to them on the phone, and there are no dell retail stores. so if anyone has any insights at all, that would be very helpful!

I can confirm that Windows 7 runs smoothly on my Toshiba laptop. It only has 1gb memory so you dont need 2 or 3GB as some are suggesting. The other day I logged into my administrative account and made a change (under performance, advanced settings, changed memory usage from Program to system cache). I understand this is a server setting, I'm experimenting. So the change was made and rebooted. Then I logged into my limited user account but the change was not saved... I went back into my admin account and the change exists. If I change my limited user account to an admin account the change is recognized... Does anybody have an idea of what would be causing this, or what workaround I could do? Thanks very much john

virus problem Annoying Virus!Hi, I am fedup with one virus problem. When ever I open one window from another window it goes back automatically. E.G if I am trying to open eny web site from google, after opening the purticular webpage I need the window goes back to google automatically within a fraction of second. This happens even when I open the folder inside the PC. Even McAfee antivirus cannot fix the problem.
