  1. These are some of the most widely researched topics in that field. The scientific community has a lot to tell about the black holes. You should take a look at the very big article in the Wikipedia about the black hole. Link below. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_hole Impressive. SOme of the stuff goes over my head and beyond my level of understanding... But its interesting to read. Lots of Physics knowledge and interest to explore and know this stuff will help a lot.
  2. This topic is interesting. Basically it depends on what you were looking for. Most of the time, people are worried about getting the results they want and are very keen on the search results and hardly look at these sponsored results most of the time... Even if they look they do not get the desired results - The sponsored results also show the link of the webpage it gets directed to and if they already know about a particular website and they feel it might not be of that much use, they do not prefer visiting it. There are few reasons why and why not people visit the sponsored results. Reason one - Sometimes they are not relevant Since the ads are created based on the amount paid and key word relevance decided by ad publishers, there is no guarantee that all the sponsored links might be related. Yeah... I know some people might not agree with me. I will give a very practical example. Say for example i have a company which manufactures fertilizers and when I pay a lot for technology/ software related keywords and display my website. So obviously my website will be displayed when someone is searching for a website related to softwares/ technologies... So, this is basically like bribing Google to show your/ our result on the home page. That is one reason people do not keep them on high regard and give more value... rather trust the actual results which we believe are not tampered in any way... except for the Google Algorithm which is a black box Reason two - People know what they want Most of the times, searches are very specif and the ones searching know exactly what they want and get it very quickly from the search results and there is no reason why they have to look for sponsored results. Sponsored results are very useful in case of campaigns. Say for example a company is already very famous for its x and y product and it introduces a product called z and it makes sense to advertise them in sponsored results. This basically kindles interest from reguar users to know more about the product and might click. Again... it depends... Reason three - Not all sponsored results have answers Not all sponsored results have answers to your questions. A website without much worth will not hold for long in peoples mind. Even if it shows up in sponsored results... people will eventually come to know that its not worth it and might not click it... it might help to advertise there during the initial stages... At the later stages... you might have to let the website speak for itself. I also have a similar questions. How many of you click ads inside your Gmail? I ask this because... atleast in case of search engines you are searching for something and you get these results... but in case of Mails you are reading your mails and there is not reason why you have to click the ads that show up... Yeah... if you are jobless enough and not enough mails to read in your inbox, you might click these ads.
  3. Yeah... agreed that these sites are some of these sites you have mentioned are heavy. But when you start looking at the features... Do you really think you can avoid such growth of file sizes? I am sure companies like Facebook, Yahoo would have given a serious thought about the file sizes, load times etc. But there has to be a trade off between features etc and a site becoming heavy. The best example of a very simple and fast loading site is Google's search home page... but as you know it does not have much to showcase in its home page - Mostly text, text boxes and some buttons. Same applies to the search results also... Mostly it is only text. Whereas in case of other sites like Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo Mail etc... so much of information, has to be loaded. The UI itself takes up lot of bandwidth and then comes the data which takes time to load... Now with the AJAX and other related technologies the applications are pre-fetching a lot of data which means it also downloads data which you might or might not use... but if you us it is going to be faster. Say in case of Gmail, the initial load time might be a little longer, but the usage later is completely efficient and user friendly. Basically this is how the web is evolved... and the scapegoats are the ones who do not upgrade their hardware and internet connectivity.May be what companies can do is to have a light version of all the applications they develop. If you have seen, Gmail and Orkut have a light/ simples version where lots of UI has been scraped and loads only the important stuff. May be other web companies can learn this from Google. I have not used MySPace and other social networks... So.. cannot comment on that.

  5. yeah... Xisto is cool. I am one of the most satisfied customers. I have been with Xisto for more than 1 year (I started my hosting account 1 month after I signed as a member) now and it was my first web hosting experience. I am very satisfied, I never considered moving away from trap 17. Now i have 3 products with them. One domain and 2 hosting services. Below are my sites... Both of them are hosted in Xisto with a basic plan since I did not require more space and bandwidth. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://www.computerkindness.org/ Have been through lots of learning after i started hosting websites. I am glad that I chose Xisto. People have gone through *BLEEP* before getting a good hosting provider. I was lucky in that case... The customer support is again one of the best. Till now I have raised around 3-4 support tickets and all of them got the first response in 1 or 2 days and ggot resolved in 1-2 days from the day of the first response. I would any day recommend Xisto to others. I have been recommending it to many people for long. Don't you see that I am still contributing in the forums. . I might not be regular in posting, but i never fail to visit the forum on a daily basis and make some occasional posts.
  6. Yeah... it is good to clean it by a professional dentist from time to time, but not frequently. Best way to maintain your teeth is to provide it with the right nutrients by eating healthy food. Brushing your teeth twice a day and keep away from germs and bad breath. Getting it cleaned by a professional frequently might cause some problem to the enamel and other parts of the teeth. It is also recommended that you visit a proper practitioner to make sure right steps are followed and proper care is taken when it is done.
  7. This topic is a bit strange.... but still I have seen such topics in Xisto from time to time. Its a welcome change from mundane topics. But I was a bit curious after reading "Wash your teeth"... Do you wash your teeth or brush your teeth? Need not answer this. Was curious... and I know the answer. Another point was "How much"... Shouldn't it be like "How many?" . Yeah... I know you meant.. "How many". Usually it is recommended to brush your teeth twice in a day. But generally people do it only once in the morning after they get back from their sleep. That is what has been taught to them from the beginning. Doctors recommend to brush your teeth twice. I have this interesting information to share... Few years back, one of my friends was giving me this interesting piece of info... regarding brushing your teeth multiple times.... Guess what the interesting piece of info was? Not to brush your teeth multiple times. Recommended is only once per day. The reason being us spoiling the enamel (You want to know what an enamel is? - It is more like an outer protective coat for the teeth - If you want to get more information on Enamel -- Link here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tooth_enamel) of the teeth. Another piece of info. Friend of mine is a dentist and there was no arguing. POint taken halfheartedly... But why do so many websites an doctors recommend brushing your teeth twice? Main reason being our mouth not being cleaned after we have food and the germs have more free time to act on them during the night. But if you want an apt answer... please read the below link. It is from about.com and I am sure there has to be some credibility to the attached info... http://dentistry.about.com/od/ Hope this helps. And coming to your question.... How many times do I brush? Usually only once. Sometimes twice. depending on what I eat for dinner and when it is so boring and someone raises concern about such things. Like your topic today. Brushing my teeth now.

    Hi 2 All

Welcome to Xisto forums. Thanks for the compliment about the users etc. Its users like you who make this forum a great place to hang around. Keep posting and keep it clean. Welcome again.
  9. New Movie: Terminator Salavation. I liked it decent enough.Yesterday: Once upon a time in America - Liked the movie.
  10. The movie was not that great. It was OK. Could have been better. The sound and visual effects were good. But the story was not convincing enough... The Arnold machine was very obvious... Overall i would give a rating of 2.5 on a scale of 5. Hope the future versions are better... assuming that there is one. Comparison: When I have to compare this with the other movies that got released at the same time... X-Men was better than this. Did any of you guys watch Transformers 2? If so... how good is the movie?
  11. Apart from the existing bigtime social networks, there are millions of small social networks in the making and do not know when the will come to the limelight. These are in the initial stage and have good scope/ potential if the model is good and tuned for customers/ users need. Say for example, I have been following few tech blogs (links below) and I encounter atleast one new social network everyday. https://techcrunch.com/ http://killerstartups.com/ https://gigaom.com/ Above are few of the sites. But there are millions of them. Start following and you will know which network has been launched and in which country.
  12. Depends upon what you want and where your friends are clogged. Again... not any social network site is perfect. Everytime one or the other hits the headlines and people cling to it. It was Yahoo sometime back... Then came AOl... Ask... and now Google. Again not for long. There are services in the making which will take over Google. Likewise for Social networks. It was hi5, MySpace, Orkut and now Facebook is the talk of the town. Twitter has its own effect where people clog. Some of the celebrities joined twitter and lots of people started signing in to twitter... God know what is next. But i think, Twitter has a way with people. There are so many interesting things in twitter. Say for example... 1. Twitter account to get real time news instantly -- https://mobile.twitter.com/i/nojs_router?path=%2FBreakingNews 2. Twitter account to get daily interesting information -- https://mobile.twitter.com/i/nojs_router?path=%2Fdailydidyouknow Above are some of the interesting accounts and there are millions like this. So, any popular site is based on demand. Any site that understands and works towards the needs of people will become a hit. Lets see what are all the different sites that will float in the future.
  13. Couple of things you should check... 1. Check your internet settings. Check your internet settings. If everything is right and you are sure it has nothing to do with the connection, then proceed with the others stuff. Also, check with your provider or ask your friends in the neighborhood to see if the sites are loading properly for them... If yes, you have to move to the next problem. Its quite possible that the problem is with the provide and not with your system/ browser. It is also important to check if these sites are blocked/ restricted in your country. Again, this possibility is rare. 2. Check your browser settings. If you are sure that your connection settings are correct, its time to check your browser settings. Depending upon the browser you use... make sure you explore all the browser settings. Check for the level of security for accessing the websites. If it is low, make it medium. Check if you have allowed to execute scripts and enabled Java in your browser. If you have not, that could be the reason for the trouble. If you are very sure that all the setting are right you might have to install another browser to check if the problem is with the browser or with something else... If your problem persists with another browser too, then God save you. Its quite possible that the resource you are trying to access itself is down. 3. Check the resource you are trying to access This is highly unlikely, but not impossible. So, do check if the resource you are trying to access is present. How do you do it? Many ways to do this. Below is a site which will help you do that. http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ Down for everyone or just me is a very useful website which will help to know if a particular website is down only for you are everywhere. Hope this helps. And regarding the browser, if you are considering one... I would suggest Firefox.
  14. I am not very sure as to why you have to split it o your own? When you connect two machines and start using the bandwidth, it will be shared automatically. Basically... Bandwidth is used based and need and request. Also, if you fix it, some of the bandwidth might get wasted as one system might need more bandwidth and the other less. Hope that makes sense.
  15. Its a tough question I should say. there are tons of services that these companies provide and I do not think that they will have a single universal solution that they will have for all these services. they might have some set of resources to use and they might be free to pick one from them... but a single one for all... highly unlikely.Also... both these companies embrace Open Source a lot. So... the technologies might be inclined towards open source. These companies also have the capability to build their own/... so... why not build and use their own customized solution. Quite possible. Cannot be neglected as it can happen. My guess would be MySQL, postgre SQL or something like that.
