I agree with SM on point of convenience for dialup users. Even i use mobile to access forums sometimes and themes like this are fast loading on mobile browser. so i guess it is equally fast on dialup as well. i guess only problem with is of color scheme. then i think whitish background with multiple color schemes change during 6 month or so could be a good way to keep forums updated. earlier theme used to display recent replies and topics in two columns at the bottom. that feature we're definitely missing. though we're getting used to this stripped down version of forum. and a giesse mentioned earlier a link is broken and it points to front page of forum instead of inside it with active topics. so that needs to be fixed. other than that, my opinion earlier remains same.

This theme is nice. earlier blue theme was nice as well. all i want to say here is whatever you choose please don't choose those dark background themes for forums. it really turns off. especially to professional and regular forums. and dark background themes are not at all suitable to Xisto theme. And i can't believe i enjoyed this gray theme.Coming back to topic, i guess Xisto is redesigned with this theme few months ago. not sure but i guess jan-feb to be precise. So my vote is No. No need of new theme as of yet. After November, i think Xisto admins will redesign it (just a guess).

Yes. Domain+ Hosting. including all the content of the domain and hosting. This is not the case. Domain and hosting both are part of Xisto - Web Hosting. so i can't redirect to any other place. and i'm interested in selling this. so i have no idea about how to detatch this domain+hosting, when i find the buyer of these. that is why i made this question here. i thought some others like me have into this situation, besides i'm expecting admin/moderators to help on this as well. . Delete domain ? hmm. that's hard. cause that is solely depend on the buyer of the domain. it is his responsibility to continue or stick with Xisto - Web Hosting. my responsibility ends when i hand over domain+hosting to him. all i want to know is what do i need to do in order to isolate this domain and hosting before i hand over this to new buyer ? No problem. i'm interested in more pointers in this matter. let's see if mods and admins can help me in this.

I don't get this. you rely on service which is free and blame when it fails in some situations?thats rude. i know japenese and i know translating script isn't childs play. but that service works well with spanish,german. some limitations are there with all languages, but it is free and works most of time. if you want accuracy,how about spending few dollars?

There are plenty of site with lots of small php scripts. you won't able to find any site that gives you all the necessary scripts. and if you're learning php then you can benefit from php frameworks like cakephp, cdeigniter. these frameworks can help you if you're interested in creating web applications. Other than web apps, small scripts are available on plenty of script sites. like gscripts, Scriptdungeon, phpjunkyard.

I'll try to explain in simple way. Statement is to call simple query. PreparedStatement is to call parametrized query. CallableStatment is to be used for stored procedure calling.

As you've no access to your XP cd. i guess it is worth to install other operating systems under virtual machines software. You can install either VMware, Virtualbox or Microsoft virtual pc. Vmware player, virtualbox are available for free of cose. and old version of microsoft virtual pc is also freely available. Just google the names and you'll find out the download locations. again the reason i'm recommending you to use virtual machine instead of dual booting on real hardware is because you've no access to your XP CD. and there are some chances (again depending upon situations and installation experience) that you need to reinstall XP. So to avoid that trouble you've to install them on virtual machine for time being. Besides, advantage of virtual machine software is that you can install multiple OS( provided that you've sufficient RAM and Hard disk space) and you can boot into multiple operating systems simultaneously. and as you're newbie to linux and less care about partition and stuff, it is better to use linux in virtual machine. You can use linux+internet inside virtual machine software, so you've nothing to lose. Try installing Operating system on virtual machine. Have fun with ubuntu!!

No. Logic Basic plan of 1.95$/month doesn't offer JSP support that means it is not supporting servlets/tomcat either. For this i think you need to upgrade to logic pro package. or ask for custom add-on to your package,i guess then it will be charged separately. To verify if your logic plan supports JSP(servlets/tomcat), you can see the Xisto - Support billing section. Here when you click "My services" at the top of navigation. it will take you to these product details. You'll see something like this" Client Area > My Products & Services > Product Details". This will give details of your domain like no of databases allowed. scroll for more fields. There is one field that says "JSP - Java Server Pages - Support: No". This will clarify your query.

Some of these sites like linuxgames, happy penguin are worth to hang arround with. I've created few small games using java and they work on both linux and games. But nothing much into it as i created them to test 2D game engines. Still if anyone is looking for games then cross platform language like java, c++ has some game engine sites, where most of the developers release their games which work with windows and linux(if explicitly released version for it). else you've to go for the crossover and wine. Seriously, i think you should go for windows 7. you can think of windows 7 as patched and irritation free(atleast much better than vista). I think of vista release like windows ME, which failed in same way like windows vista. after that only windows 98 and windows 2000 were considered as better options till they launched XP. and now that XP support is stopped and it's obvious they're supposed to improve their old OS's. though like windows 98, even Windows XP will be there in market support and services as well as on our desktops for quite sometime. but one day we've to upgrade to new OS. like it or not.In Windows 7, XP mode is answer to support for old games and drivers. So switching to windows 7 won't be issue anymore. there will be still some issues and ofcourse some one will come up with answer, that's life in windows. (On side note, consider switching to linux JK ) If you can't afford ultimate edition then professional is much better option cause if you stick with starter,basic editions then you'll find yourself in land of feature limitations. So either professional edition or ultimate.

We can't say linux is 100% secure and windows is not 1% something like. But yes, windows is more prone to hacking attacks and PHP based scripts on windows host are more vulnerable to those attacks. So most of the time, people prefer linux hosting over windows. When you'll select windows hosting ?1) ASP/ASP.net sites2) Windows services/forms related hosting3) any windows related software(including Moonlight/silverlight content) hosting is better to be hosted on windows host. Future ? Hmm. Earlier during 1980,1990 movies used to release concepts of touch screen computers, handhelds and mobiles of 2010,2020 etc. And i see that happening now. Hmm, with humans multiplying everyday and more humans breaking law and humanity how can we expect peace from this world ? Besides as long as there are religious fanatics trying to force their perceptions of god on others, such terrorism,crime like thing will continue to happen. I don't think so that so-called world peace will ever be there if we continue to populate this planet at such a rate. So our focus should be on poverty, literacy, crime-free[?] world atleast.

I'll go with IPB(*reason is mods/look as of now). Mods and Skins are much better than VB. Some basic themes of VB are plain boring. though some skins of IPB are also simplistic and just change of colors sometimes. while some have just modifications of default one's. But in case of SPAM control, both the paid packages are great. It's tough to pick sometimes. But the forums where i'm active most like (suggestafix, and others) use IPB. i guess even Xisto is also running on IPB(correct me if i'm wrong). Some members here also using IPB board. Now that you're going to spend money on it. I suggest go with feature wise comparison. after that see if both these packages covers your needs and theme creation is easy on your side. else you've to pay for design as well, that will take some more money/time anyway. after this choose based on support of these packages, for that you've to ask members who are running these packages. Hope you'll choose the better one among them. and don't forget to post here about which one you picked and why. we're curious here to know more about those paid packages.

Almost every social network let's you send personal messages if you're friends with each other. Unlike forums, which let's you send PM irrespective to whether you're friends or not. The good thing about indyarocks site is it allows to send text/sms message to mobile phone. but still there is limit of how many messages you can send in a day. If you've noticed then you'll see they even pay for per video view. and if you're uploader then you'll be given more credit and you've chances to get paid. You need those files ? so you shouldn't click on format drive message when it pops up. In any case, try plugging it to another machine with another OS(linux) if possible. see if it runs, if not i think you've to give try to find software like convar's pc inspector file recovery that can backup from any disk. Try installing software like "USB Safely Remove" if it detects, else you've consult with USB manufacturer for help. Check this link for detecting hardare issues of Vista. (This link doesn't work with windows xp, 2003 and server editions. it is only meant for vista). Try it, maybe that might help. And if USB drive is not recognized on any OS (xp,linux) then it is better to format the drive. you can use disk drive management softwares. If the drive is not recgnized then i guess you can read this for some information. I doubt that it is problem of microsoft vista starter edition, but still there are chances of limited drivers. If so, then knowledgebase article of Microsoft might help here. If problem still persists, you may contact to the support of USB drive maker. Most of the time they can guide you about formatting instructions, backing up files in it or any replacement if in warranty period if it comes out to be in bad state.

Yeah, it is scam. and i was member of that site. earlier they used to pay at 10$. but earning 10$ was damn difficult. cause their referal ad was priced at 0.001. so after viewing 10 ads daily how much you'll earn ? and before 2008 ads were really less, and site was not promoted so close to non-existent. then after some time, they raised payout at 25$. damn, i missed the payout shot again cause i made 12$ at that time. and now in 2009, they removed 25$ payout bar as well. now they're only paying at 50$. i wanna see how many actually got paid here ? and their introduction of bux.to credit card makes them credible ? i don't think so. these days any brand can come up with cash cards. but point is are they really paying? answer is plain NO. but i found out that the referal sites we used to view are of spammers site or just another those poker, cards, herbal & spirituality, holy fake products. and i'm not gonna fall for these sites now.I want reviews for 3 more sites now from Xisto if possible:1. Some of my observations with bing. If you unable to make forward from link then it will redirect you back to them. So if in explorer, you'll only loop around their services. And if you by some chance searched for anti-microsoft search queries. Then chances are those search results are barred from their index. again wth ? self-promotion is good but hiding criticism ? even if it is negative why hide it from customers ? i mean searchers are their customers in one way or the other. For webmasters, there is no advantage of managing SEO for bing. how much traffic bing fetch anyway. the traffic that is fetched by bing is either newbie to computers using windows and microsoft products or some pro-ms users. other than that most of the people rely on either yahoo/google. Quality of search results ? very poor. Warez stuff is filtered . now they can't get visitors who search for only warez, free pdf and softwares stuff. . And if somehow they got the link to such stuff from bing, chances are there that bing will bar that too. as they're paying attention to those stuff. afterall those warez stuff is hurting their OS & software business.What new bing offers than yahoo and google ? Nothing new. just some fancy stuff packed with organized search results. that's all.

1GB of RAM you've got is sufficient for XP. though HD is little low and if you're using many applications then it is likely to have too many processes running that could slow you down. You can use CCleaner/easycleaner to regularly remove temp/unnecessary files. sometimes they slow down your computer. also you can stop indexing service & some un-necessary services. check this site for more information. From their i found out that it is worth to stop indexing service, some un-necessary services, un-necessary or unused program came with windows, fonts. also take a look at the startup list. check what programs are starting with windows. if anyone is not needed then you've remove them from startup. and don't forget to defrag every month atleast. this will help speed up windows.

Facebook is good but it is starting to break in side of privacy. they introduced new feature of URL. and they break privacy of user. now any person with acess to facebook URL can view your profile pic and your friends. is it good ? not at all if you're concerned about privacy of your pic and profile. why they added this ? ofcourse to get into search engines. but for that they compromised with user profiles. Another things that buggs me about facebook is their notification. your friends if comment on photo of someone who is not in your friend list then even you'll see a notification. and is that necessary ? I think No. why do i need update of that ? that's too personal update isn't it ? i don't mind receiving their wall and gallery update notifications but where their activity outside my connection is not my business to be frank. Poping up notifications every now and then is seriously pain, why there is so much of notification of crush,and blah etc. Though you can disable notification from settings but still some will continue to display and certainly annoying. One more headache is "Mafia" games. First there was original mafia game then there are clones of it poping here and there. they officially added vampire mod of mafia game. though sound good and fun at start but eats lot of your time and definitely not productive and less attractive. Design is improved than earlier versions, but still lot of clutter to be taken care of. I hang out very rarely on facebook, i spend some time on orkut instead. but when it comes to photo sharing and friends, i ask my friends to stay on facebook as orkut is hacked by idiot script hackers regularly. and it's not safe to share close-view photos on orkut.
