  1. Lol, looks like you're obsessed with her thoughts. One thing from my side i would like to tell you, Be yourself. It doesn't matter who you are, what she thinks of you. But it does matter what you think of yourself. Don't try to be something for her, just be who you're . As far as i've seen girls don't like boys who change for some girls. Girls like confident, if not atleast one who is of his having own opinion. Confidence is like Sine-wave so if any girl judges you on that, then don't care for that. and yeah one important thing: have some patience, take your time. Don't get confused and restless when you see her. Anyway, that's good for first timers though.
  2. This may or may not help but install wireshark and check which programs are connecting to internet and if transferring any bytes. Wireshark works on linux as well as on windows. So you can check the same on windows, and close those programs. There are alternative ways to monitor bandwidth and programs which connect to internet on windows and linux. Such programs are handy when you want to keep tab on bandwidth used.
  3. I agree, if you want to sell it up ask real people. Ask people on digital point, flippa, sitepoint etc. These algorithms count backlinks, pagerank and alrxa rank. I pity those who purchase websites based on alexa algorithm. First what type of algorithm is that ? when your site performs well on google, yahoo, MSN still it keeps you at low rank on alexa. And they only care about visits in US which we can understand as most of the ad networks are from US. But still such false ranking drives your business even if you're performing well on search engines. There are plenty of sites like website outlook. For example, iwebtool, xinu etc. Xinu is good one for checking overall social media performance. While iwebtool covers multiple tools.
  4. Geocities is going down this November. and rest of the hosts other than asta are simply way too headache to work with. If there was other option i would have chosen Xisto - Web Hosting for paid service. I'm paid customer of CH. But after mycents i think all of us are into CH hosting umbrella. Dreamhost came up with offer for geocities users to get 2 years of free hosting+1 year of domain free, but that offer is expired now. Earlier Crosswinds, homepage and homestead were my favorite but now they are no longer free hosts. Also freewebs, weebly services are quite ok for testing. Not for long run. Crosswinds does offer one free hosting service like qupis, that means they do put ad-link at the bottom. And interesting thing is for the exchange of text-link ad they offer unlimited disk space, cpanel and bandwidth. They don't mind overselling cause they're getting link in back. But no thanks i'm happy with paid hosting. I guess i have spent lot of time around such free hosts.
  5. Yes. Sigops is very interesting series. Also "Linux from scratch" is one good resource for those who want to build linux-style OS from scratch. More books to list : Andrew Tannenbaum's Modern Operating Systems, Operating System Concepts, Operating Systems Implementation - Prentice. There are some Old Books on XINU series. Like, Operating System Design with Xinu and Operating System Design-Internetworking With XINU, Vol. II. Also MIT Operating Systems class is a must read. There is a lot of material available from MIT's opencourse ware site. Do check out some of the forums related to operating system like SkyOS, and linux distros. You'll find many people studying operating systems. They'll guide for sure.
  6. I’m quite active these days on both Xisto and Xisto. Not much posting on Xisto. Just reply to some old and new topics. On Xisto, i’m replying to the topics about which i can answer. But point is Kontera earning for me is not slightly moved. Ecpm rate from the report is shown as 3$ and the earning turns out to be 0.23$. Not much i mean in this quarter i just earned 5.22$ so far. I know not that much as we’ve to reach goal of 100$ to get paid. But can’t help it from traffic point of view. Also i want to know if Kontera carries previous months earning to next month or not? I mean i’m on kontera since January but from their custom report option i couldn’t select the month January. Only allowed to select period which was from March 09. Strange, but i don’t know how they work. Also why they don’t have counter that shows money earned so far ? I mean they have ad network and publisher service which doesn’t keep count of how money earned so far ? Is it there ? or i’m just missing something to look on publisher dashboard. Let’s see if i get paid and somehow manage to get access to counter which shows my earning so far.
  7. Lol, i don't find this as hacking tough. Not even a virus unless you put this script into startup. Put into startup, so when desktop is loaded this window should show up or even if you're using task automated scripts you can hide warning windows. This way it looks more like Virus. Nice attempt though.I suggest using program like autohotkey, which could automate this task and can even make your day worst if you keep it on startup item. Seriously, imagine you write autohotkey style script and keep it on startup. When user logs onto dekstop they find window which says windows is going to shutdown in say 1Min20sec. And if user is not of intermediate level, they're likely to get mad at such thing. Let's keep fun aside. I just don't want someone to do such thing to me so i refrain from doing such things on college computer. I've virtual machine to do this stuff.
  8. I didn't get the question. Do you mean using script makes paragraph transparent ?Or you're setting some property in CSS that makes image transparent as well as text which is where image is in ? Maybe it could be other than this as well. I didn't understood the question. Can you show us screenshot of problem ? that is much better to understand the problem.
  9. There are plenty of sites that works and are successfully running. Some got their adsense account banned cause they used BOTS to click on such sites. So better not waste your adsense publisher id on such sites. There is ad of one more site on Xisto, paptoto.com i guess. Which was on similar theme. Also "howtodothngs.com" works on the same theme. They pay you based on the revenue sharing system. But more appropriate is they show ads on your own articles. Not on others articles,so you've to write a lot on their sites to generate traffic to your articles. If you check freelance writing sites like helium, aloha etc. They all pay you by sharing their revenue. Helium is closed for asian users. Only europe and US/Canada users can sign up. I generated revenue of about 17$ and they shut my account down by saying they are no longer accepting users from asia. Thanks, 17$ are lost. So if you want to try sites like this and end up getting worked for free. I suggest you to not to use these sites to earn money for yourself.
  10. Astahost is nice technical forum. Lots of good topic are discussed there earlier. Some old topics are still updated by newbies and regular members. Some old active people may be no longer there but some of the topics where they contributed are still exists. Other than that one thing you'll note that Xisto is not quite active place these days. and there are tons of spammers posting copy-pasted stuff and running away. Not many newbies ask question there and hence many members are not there discuss good topics. Still MODS are active and answer for your queries. It's just that this week there isn't much traffic. And did you joined Xisto ? If so, what you've seen so far on Xisto ?. I bet you liked their theme, isn't it ? Do tell us your experience of Xisto.
  11. Wordpress has its own forum software called BBPress. It is small and not suitable for large community. It is perfect for small store or software support system to answer questions and to post updates and FAQ. BBPress integrates well with current 2.8 version of Wordpress, earlier few plugins were there. But now no need for 3rd part plugin. And yes you're right. SMF,PhpBB have extentions that integrates wordpress with forum.
  12. I've downloaded FileZilla on my desktop. It gets most of my work done. It's free and constantly updated. Also FireFTP is extension for Mozilla firefox, handy if you've lower number of files to be uploaded. For larger number of files better use dedicated program. Other than this two more options : CoreFTP and GoFTP.Recently i had chance to test SmartFTP on my friends computer. Nice little app i must say. It is also free.
  13. In case if i'm not following discussion, please excuse. I think for usage of cpanel you can read this wiki page. Also as you're working with FTP on cpanel this tutorial is very handy for you. There are plenty of freeware FTP program if you want to use desktop application instead of webftp that is provided by cpanel. Try Filezilla. Also the wordpress in most of the cpanel is likely to be old version if you're using fantastico. If you're using newer version of wordpress then you can install themes online if you're selecting it from wordpress repository. Also if you've wordpress directory writable mode done by your webhost then you can edit the themes from within wordpress dashboard interface. Also new version upgrades are also possible from within wordpress dashboard. Do you want to form community by allowing people to log on post article/comment stuff ? and have their own profile ? In that case, instead of wordpress you've to use Buddypress or dolphin or community server software. You're just moving from your blogging requirement to community blog/forum software requirement. So i suggest better download buddypress. And if your requirement is simply allowing multiple users to blog then wordpress-mu, wordpress multi-user software is your only option. Again these two softwares are not having auto-install script so you're on your own. You've to download and install it, set database etc on your own. and i doubt if any free webhost helps with such installation cause they're not part of their offering. Still you can post of forums on their site or here to get instruction about installation and other stuff.
  14. If you want to create your own operating system then SIGOPS tutorial series is for you. Also i found this tutorial interesting. And while you're learning about operating system. Make sure you pay attention to small things like interrupt, device drivers, display, sound and interface etc. Some more details about this are covered in this tutorial. You can also learn from other operating system. For example, how linux is created from tutorial like "Linux from scratch". For UNIX like Clone, check this. If you're C# user then there is one project going on called as "SharpOS". Also there are few educational projects which tells you how operating system works. Check Mikeos and Pintos project. TomOS is fork of MikeOS. Nanoos is written in C++, if you're C++ user then do check it out. Some good books are already mentioned by "@tansqrx" so do check them out.
  15. @rvalkassYeah, i was thinking of adding funds to billing area. I just noticed there is option to add funds using "Mycents" as well. Not sure, if it works or when it was added. But if it is working for renewal of domains and hosting. Then this solves big issue for paid customer as well as Mycent customer. Just wanted to confirm this with opaque that if Mycents works for yearly renewal or not.
  16. UBCD has few Disk repair utilities. You can check UBCD here. Also if you want to check for disk related errors and corrupted windows files then you've to open command prompt and type "sfc /scan". This will ask for XP cd but checks most of the windows file corruption & chkdsk errors. Other than that you should download your hard drive makers official site for some disk checking and repaid utility. Some hard drive makers do offer disk check utility. These utilities scan your computer online or offline. Some manufacturers which offers such utilities are : Seagate Seatools IBM / Hitachi Drive Fitness Test Maxtor Maxblast 3 Maxtor PowerMax Western Digital Software & Drivers Fujitsu Utilities
  17. Nice little tutorial. Perfect for beginners. There must some web-installers with Cpanel that can help in updating auto-installation. I didn't find it updating with computinghosts's offered Cpanel. It just allows single installation or new installation. I'll be looking for alternative for fantastico in this case. In between, i have found official script from simplemachines website which allows you to update SMF installation. This script is called Web-install. Which allows you to upgrade your current SMF installation. After installation you've to delete the script file. Good option when your fantastico is not upgrading SMF installation.
  18. @KaammooSorry to object. But what this thread is doing in How-to and tutorial section ? . This thread shows information about 30 years of walkman. and it points to the some of the postings of blog. I think this is not the right section where you posted this. Ask moderators to move this thread to appropriate category.
  19. Completed the survey. Yeah MIS gives headache. I had that subject during my ECE engineering. MIS/IIS takes most of your time, requires lot of reading. Good luck with studies. :-)
  20. I checked the first link and tool the survey. I hope it was the only link for entire survey. Cause another link is not working with me. It gives me same page when i completed the first links survey. I tried my best to give honest answer to your survey. Only question i had when answering your survey was this : "Do you know the different Types of research papers ie. MLA, APA, Chicago?" I found it no general question as it was more on demographic so answered appropriately. You're doing this project for your university degree ?
  21. Not true. You can edit .exe files. There are few utilities that can do this job for you. If you're interested in purchasing good products in this theme then PExplorer is one good choice. More paid software options are : exeScope, Hexedit, ResourceTuner. These are some paid options if you want you can buy one of from them. Again it is better to ask for suggestion when you make purchase. Ask on forums or newsgroups for the purchase suggestions, feature comparison before you buy. Other than that there are few Hex editors that let's you do this job. And most of the hex editors on internet are of free of cost. You can download without paying any fees/license. Some free hex editors are : ResourceHacker, Hxplorer. I found other free hex editor good for viewing but not for editing. Some of these are : Filealyzer. Win32 program disassembler is going to perish from Geocities soon (when they shutdown all old web pages). So if you're interested download it and keep it to disk, that is also one good program. In that site i've found the list of more dissemblers. Check this page for more application suggestions.
  22. "Shutmail" service is down now. Alternative in meantime is ".tk" and ".co.cc" domains. ".co.nr" is free option but requires you to use backlink or small banner at footer. Also these domains are not TLD(top-level domains). No point in choosing them for longer run. If you are running fansites/fan boards and have no financial interests from it then you can use such domains. More such domains are available on Smartdots.
  23. Sometimes automatically turning ON computer with autologon enabled could be bad for you. Especially if you've some stuff you don't want parents or siblings to check on your computer. So i prefer disabling autologon feature before scheduling computer to turn on at particular time. Saves lot of trouble later.
  24. So we have few questions that we need to get answered from admins/(if possible from mods) as even thread starter wants to know answer of first one.1. Are Mycent customer treated same as Paid customer ?2. Mycent paid sites are hosted separately on data center from paid customers ?3. Is it possible to prepay for hosting account using mycent and stay inactive instead of canceling account ?I just wish to get answer from Mods/admins for these questions instead of other members.
  25. In this blog post there are few softwares/drivers mentioned. Out of that Diskinternals and explore2fs are worth to check out if you want to access linux partitions.
