First Trap17 Sig Tournament Details inside
Cool_Freaker replied to Johnny's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I can probably enter, but it's no big deal to me. If there's others still wanting to join, I'll submit one, if not I'll just leave it for the sake of making the brackets easier -
It's quite a good design, though I feel the amount of text is a little overwhelming (ie banner + side box + main text + bottom bar) - I would suggest replacing a banner or two with images, or spreading out the text more in the page. I'm also personally not a fan of grey + pink, the grey gets to me - I feel a straight pink, yellow and white colour scheme would lighten/brighten the mood a whole lot. However it does look quite polished, and seem practical enough :DI like cheese you know. I don't think it's so bad receiving it - it should be the top option :DJust my two cents

Rate The Sig Above You Sig game
Cool_Freaker replied to Johnny's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
^^ Tekken Jin signature - scanlines maybe just a little heavy, and render feels a little light in colour. Text stands out well, and is a suitable choice. Notice from Johnny: Join the sig tournament. <3 -
Pretty funky - I reckon the Duck Hunt one has style. Just add a border at it'd be the shizzle.

Some interesting effects you got going there. Generally, though the backgrounds aren't bad, but the renders really need to be blended better. Otherwise it's a pretty good start

On Saint Michael's Advice, Please Rate My Sigs
Cool_Freaker replied to icemarle's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Yeah simple, but clean and get the message across . Let me guess... Wild Words? :DYou edit manga? awesome... it's something I've tried to do without much success. Same can be said for colouring. You should do a tutorial for editing sometime (if you haven't already - if so, point me in the direction of it ) -
New Sigs [by Johnny] Three of them.
Cool_Freaker replied to Johnny's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Nice use of Apophysis in the first two, though perhaps it could have been manipulated a bit more (I've seen some sigs where you would never guess Apophysis made the render, coz it's been manip'd so much), but definitely nice renders anyway :D3rd one is quite good, though it is particuarly blue . Text could have been done better (ie blended, better use of grungy font), but it's not too bad. Background works, though I've seen better ones from you Johnny -
Themed Sotw? Should we have it?
Cool_Freaker replied to Johnny's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Generally, though, SOTW is a good way to compare your sigs with other's as it's using a similar or the same render - you can pick up some good ideas from different variations - the Gamerenders one is so big, the same render is often used more than once - so yeah, plenty to learn there. -
Cool Freaker's Application Worth a go...
Cool_Freaker replied to Cool_Freaker's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I'm on a lot more than I post. I tend to post in less than 1/4 of the threads I actually do read -
Themed Sotw? Should we have it?
Cool_Freaker replied to Johnny's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Because Xisto is such a big community, themed would be the way to go in the future. However, since the PS forums (whilst growing) aren't the largest, yeah I think it should start without themes. Basically what you said Johnny -
Cool Freaker's Application Worth a go...

Real Name (optional): Aron MSN: cool_freaker [at] hotmail.com Email: ridway [at] gmail.com Experience in graphics: About one year with Photoshop Areas of expertise: Sigs - usually Abstract Other graphics sites worked at(optional): I sometimes post stuff at my clan, which doubles as a graphics team - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Past positions at other graphics sites(optional): None. How much you can be on each day: On for at least several hours a day, up to 8. How many templates/sigs/resources can you make a week: Depends on school work, but I'm not the fastest with sigs and I don't usually do more than one a day, or more than several a week - I prefer to get things looking as good as I can first. Templates take quite a bit longer. Examples of your work: I have done a couple of templates, but I have one up at: http://forums.xisto.com Good to see this thing finally got off the ground though -
Waah Johnny doesn't love us But yeah, bring em on - they can even get hosting while they're at it

Battle Requset 3 or 4 people may join

Does it have to be x150? -
The latest version of Command and Conquer out currently, is Generals, and the expansion Zero Hour. Many fans, though, believe it has not stayed true to the original series, though I admit it is quite fun. The game itself is still not all that new though, and I believe it's already in the EA Classics range. However, it is slow*ish*, and I don't see it being better in terms of speed, than Age of Mythology, in fact CC:G may be worse. Online, there are some people, so you should get a game, no problem. For a faster pace, try the one before Generals, which is Red Alert 2. I don't know about online presence, but I know it was popular a couple of years back. It is still in a kind of 2D mode, and I, personally, didn't particuarly like it. Even earlier, is CC: Tiberian Sun, which I remember to be really quite slow considering it's 2D nature. Not one I recommend, sorry. I did enjoy Age of Empires II though. I know it has quite a large online presence still, and should be of a fast enough pace Rise of Nations is good, but not as insanely popular online as some of the other titles mentioned. Basically, anything with 3D units/buildings will seem "slower", so you'd probably have to look out for the older games.

4 New Fractal Sigs No, really, theyre awesome.
Cool_Freaker replied to Johnny's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Last two are the best, in my opinion, as the fractal stands out the most from the background - it's crisp and well defined. Anyway well done Johnny, they look great :DDid you use Apophysis? -
Sounds good Johnny. I don't know if it even needs to be official though? Things like collabs/requests, SOTW, whatnot etc, don't *really* need to have an official team to do. I don't know whether an "elite" graphics crew is wanted, or just a general graphics community. As there are so many graphics teams already out there, I think a much more casual kind of team would be good. Rather, as long as you do some designing (and have been on Xisto for sufficient time/post count), you can join. Everyone in the team just helps each other out. Rather than being a position of priveledge, it just allows other designers to recognise one another on the forums and associate with each other accordingly.

[::kubi::] Vs [::phyre::] 1v1 Comic
Cool_Freaker replied to Kubi's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Might as well add my vote...I vote for Phyre - 4:2Kubi, yours is good, but I feel the brushing is a bit monotone, and doesn't match the render. Nice how the render kind of pops out of the border though. Oh and great work since you've only just started designing :DPhyre, I like the brushing and colour variations. I think it works well, though the render doesn't stand out as much as I think it should. The text font is well chosen and nice gradient, but I think better placement/size would see it being more effective in the sig. -
Not bad at all. Well presented anyway (ie not pixellated, render is fine etc etc), albiet not very complex/technical. I don't really like the font though, change it perhaps, and while your at it, try an effect on the actual text (the shadow thing is nice I admit). Maybe blend in the render with some brushing next time as well.

Phyre [::vs::] Johnny{w} 1v1 grunge
Cool_Freaker replied to Johnny's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I agree. I give my vote to Johnny = 2:3 Sorry Phyre, but I just felt your text really let you down (name is barely readable), the opacity strip thing doesn't work so well, and the render is almost *too* well blended (ie, a bit dark - doesn't stand out enough from background). But I swear it was a tough decision to make -
Yeah it doesn't look so bad imo. I think that old green Naruto sig would be a better pick for the "noobish" look

Another Sig From Snlildude87? Its true.
Cool_Freaker replied to snlildude87's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Better make that compound interest calculated each day Nice background though snildude, I didn't think the text was so horrid, I guess it's acceptable, even if only just I reckon you should be able to get a much better quality Halo render though. There's a million of them floating around, I'm sure Johnny or SM would know where to find them on Gamerenders etc. -
Maybe just have a solid white bar in between the two black borders - instead of the opacity one. Because the background is so dark already, the opacity strip doesn't have the effect it normally does. Johnny got good, fast - and whilst he's a genius - I'm sure you (hulunes) can do it too
