  1. That's gotta be worth the wait - right? (Hell I'd be happy to have to return a PC and wait a week to get PC that's twice as good )What was your original system, and what's the one they gave you?
  2. Sigs don't HAVE to have depth, and if he's going for the tech screen look - IMO it doesn't need it (ie looking at a console/status screen scanning or something).Usually though it's recommended.
  3. Nice tech brushing, though I would recommend making the render a bit less opaque.
  4. Totally agree. The car is pixellated too. Make sure you resized it properly, and put anti-aliasing on it if you need to. I like the background brushing though perhaps it's not suited to the render.
  5. Empire Earth is definitely inferior to the Age series in my opinion. The first one for sure. I think it tries too hard to encompass too large a time period - which means way too many units and techs and compications which generally are unnecessary. At least with the Age games they concentrate on a particular time period. The online presence of the games simply enforces this. Age of Mythology and Age of Empires II: The Conquerors, each have a larger presence online than Empire Earth. I wouldn't say EE is a bad game, rather it's not the best, but definitely worth a try if a fan of RTS (even though I would recommend Rise of Nations over it).
  6. Usually the people who have to ask about computers are those who really have no idea, generally the older generations, right? I find it annoying too, when you try to explain, but they just don't get it. On any account I guess you have to grin and bear it, or teach a few properly and then get them to teach anyone else having issues. Some people are just too scared to poke around with computers and are probably too ignorant to realise just how easy it is. I think it's probably too easy for us to say "oh it's easy learn it yourself" as we've grown up with a certain degree of contact with computers.
  7. The problem is, swearing is so often used now in movies and in general talk, they're really commonplace and inturn have totally lost the kind of "shock horror" effect, exposing the gravity of the situation. What I find sad is that when I walk past primary schools you can hear children blatantly swearing when it's really not needed. I don't so much have a problem with swearing, but there's a time and a place, even if you're quite lax with that - there is no need to insert a curse word in every sentence.Another thing that irks me is when girls swear unneccesarily - not that I'm saying they shouldn't, but rather, to me, it lowers my perception of their mentality, taking away from the grace and charm the female may have.
  8. I like the sizes - long in width, short in height. Nice incorporation of clips in some of them too. As Truefusion said, the Jordan one by Trixx is probably the best of the bunch.
  9. Yeah, awsome render - I want a car like that.Somehow the motion blur doesn't quite make it look like it's moving? I'm not sure what it is, but it's not quite working for me. (Oh... maybe it's coz the wheels look like they're stationary?)Otherwise, nice background brushing. I don't really like the name bar, but I suppose it's alright - perhaps try removing the scanlines in it? Stylish text, but once again I'm not really feeling the bevel on it..
  10. Then... what's with the requests over at: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  11. It's a real pain for the people working too though. When there's a rush at like McDonalds, my friends have said they have to run like freaking crazy to get out orders to the cars - as the only time they have is from when the car travels from one window to another. Whilst the person taking the orders has to stand, isolated from everyone else to collect money and speak to the customers. It's not exactly pleasant for them either I suppose. I know that big orders are a pain, even not in drive through. Kid's orders are the worst as getting small items are harder than big ones (ugh Happy Meals). So when a family orders 5 Kids Meals + 2 Adult Meals or whatever, it isn't a good thing when you have to rush it into takeaway bags, with the customer angry and your manager angry.
  12. At least they're replacing it for you though, right? I don't see how actually buying it from a shopfront kind of store will make it any faster. Usually they have to contact the manufacturer and ask them for a replacement (unless it's a custom built kind of machine that's built in the store - in which case they still need to contact the manufacturer for the specific component that's playing up.)Internet is usually cheaper anyway - I'd still recommend it (unless you want to go to computer markets or something - but that's no less risky, really.)
  13. Nice background... brushing is nice, not monotone and has a good feel. I think the moon could be a bit bigger though... The render isn't blended at all though, and I'm not really feeling the text. The font is ok considering the "theme" of the signature, but somehow I dont think it represents the render. Something even more "scary" perhaps? - oh and maybe remove the bevel and try a different effect instead...
  14. Vash, right? Pretty good signature SM, maybe get the text to stand out more. It's a bit hard on the eyes as it's blended in almost too well
  15. Agreed. But I don't know if it really needs more depth... tbh = To be honest. Nice and colourful, just fix up the text, make it bigger and fancier perhaps. And maybe lower the opacity of the scanlines or remove a bunch of them...
  16. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png Hope you like it.
  17. As HmmZ said... with Flash, the best way to use it is to do some sort of animation, as it has a low filesize in comparison to animated GIFs and is of a higher quality. Cartoon styles work best IMO in Flash. If you're stuck with Macromedia, try Fireworks instead. Otherwise it's a simple signature, nice text - though maybe it could be more jagged as if damaged by the ogre (?) dude. Oh and a border would be good too.
  18. Yeah coz the whole idea of a popout is so you don't have to crop the render. Nice try, the render is actually quite nice, but not really suitable for a popout.
  19. Hey mate, you're going to have to stick around a bit on the forums first. A 0 post count doesn't go far towards your credibility. Go for hosting or at least get a few more posts, and I'd be quite happy to do one for you (as would most on the GFX team).
  20. 1. Nice brushing, but the render is a little dark and the dark background doesn't help either. I'd agree with what Truefusion said - the text/circle needs a bit more definition, perhaps even try a fancier font.2. Very nice, has the best brushing out of the lot, I reckon. Render is blended well and text is effective, though you could have done more with it. Just maybe the render is a bit overused, but that's more of a personal quibble I have with it :ph34r:3. Didn't really like the colours in this one - a bit dark and not a lot of variation, though I do appreciate the soft feel in the top right. Lovin' the concept of him looking down at the text, but I think you need something more in the sig, as it feels a bit bare. Either a fancier font or brushing or a vector or two maybe?4. The one I like the most. Truefusion's right - the boxes aren't quite equal in spacing, but I guess it's not a big thing. Good grunge and I like the font choice and bevel/shadow you put on it.5. Sorry, don't like this one much, the diagonal line bar things somewhat ruin it, especially the one over the render. Not going for the simple pixel font on top of it. I don't really like the white bits on top either - they feel a bit over contrasted, especially when on the left you have a soft feel, whereas on the right it's a bit crisper.
  21. None that are mainstream and that I know of. For online play Xbox is far better than PS2, though really, I don't see why you'd stray from your computer to play online (if it's getting boring upgrade it or nab some new games ).
  22. Nice tutorial and finished product is really quite good and clean. I think you really need to get a suitable render for it though, such as the one you chose - it needs the colour difference and what not, so when it's blurred there's some nice variation.
  23. Nice use of the render and brushing, though I feel you've taken Cloud a bit out of context (not really a bad thing) . As Snil said, it's a little monochromatic, but I reckon the light areas look good in contrast to the darker ones. Maybe the render should have been left in it's original colour?I don't really like the box, I'd say either get rid of it, or make it smaller and multiply. Feels a bit out of place as it is.
  24. Yah - Clone Stamp is a funky tool which has a stamp shape You select an area that you want to duplicate from, and then when you use the stamp it works like a brush and recreates the point that you originally selected at another point.Second one is better for sure. It's brighter and the textures are more visible.
  25. I quite like the brushing and colours - (yess not monotone.. wee!) - it shows that your background was well done. Even if you don't want to do much with the text, get a different colour, or get a shadow/glow or even a gradient. Just a few clicks to make it a little fancier - then it'd work much better.I'm not feeling that border though. Maybe try it a bit thinner?
