  1. When it comes, it comes. If I was ill prepared for my death, so be it. I have no need for a deathclock.
  2. I was never interested in social networking, and I do not believe that even with the great email service I get with Google I will ever turn to like it.
  3. It might be a bit too distracting on the forum's cool colour scheme, but it might work well over at the G4 boards. I don't really have any other criticisms, though.
  4. Sony is going to be able to stay afloat in the console market simple because of the franchises they have backing them for Sony only(Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid come to mind), but I do believe that they will do the poorest out of the other companies.
  5. I've dealt with bites from a small dog on several occaisions. I put some disinfectant onto the wound, and added a band-aid. That was always the end of the story. This is great to know if I ever decide to get a bigger dog, though.
  6. It's probably just another quack cure made by some charlatan IMO. I'd like to believe that there is some cure for AIDS, but I don't think it enlies in some exotic concauction that came from a diplomat's dream made prohibition style. It sounds more like the colonel's secret recipe than a cure for AIDS. But I suppose false hope is better than no hope at all.
  7. I absolutely loathe any type of physical activity, and the only thing worse than doing physical activities is watching sports IMHO.
  8. I'm a dog person since they seem to be much more cheerful and active than the cats I've seen. Plus, I ended up having to maintain a cat much more than my dog for various reasons including the litterbox, tendancies to wreck things by scratching them(All I have to do for my dog to not destroy things is close the closet door and make sure there is a cover on the kitchen wastebasket).
  9. Newbie bashers on MMOs are nothing compared to forum newbie bashers. The YTMNSFW forums have bashed away countless newbies, especially those who write intelligently.
  10. I hate awardspace - register_globals is always on and unable to be turned off. Perl scripts that I want to use to power my website do not work because it refuses to allow a perl script inside a world writeable directory. Plus, it's a bit slow for me.
  11. The proper installation of Vista in my humble opinion. I'm not going to even bother installing that piece of junk - all it brings to the table ends up being essentially a waste of space and processor ticks(the security updates are of no matter - they'll be breached in a matter of time, and not patched soon enough). I'm just going to run all my applications through WINE when Slackware finally comes out with a 64-bit version just to escape the bloat.

    Freebasic

My programming language of choice is FreeBASIC. It isn't very big right now but it is growing(there are several sites dedicated to it). In basis, FreeBASIC is sort of an open source successor to QuickBASIC - it's nearly 100% compatible(they scrapped some commands because they aren't practical on modern computers). The difference is it can run on 32-bit hardware, it's much faster, and it's not limited into the confines of the DOSes. It's also compatible with most popular C++ libraries like OpenGL, YaGL(okay, it isn't very popular but it's good), and SDL. Another thing is it runs on Linux, and not just Windows. It's only real weakness I see is that it doesn't do OOP.
  13. When I looked at PhpBB2, it looked like a direct copycat of IPB 1.x. IPB 2.x, however smashes any feature PhpBB has to offer except for price. If mods are still 10-30 minute script edits, themes aren't easily uploadable from a single archive from the CP, subforums are impossible without mods, and "last post in" on the default template I will most cretainly not get phpBB 3.
  14. There are a couple things I hate:-Javascript used to make annoying pointer following clocks -People who can or can't spell on the internet, but can't take the time to use a spell checker, check their grammar, etc. to create a post that is semi-coherent. -People who steal images and sound without citing their sources, don't cut them down to a reasonable size, and put them on a YTMND. -Sites that were created so lazily they use a generic template from some website that 50 other websites use with their CMS. -eMail sites like mail.com that really ripoff users -The use of conio.h etc.
  15. The internet definately has local law governing it. That is why flash artists who copyright their work were able to threaten to sue Eric Bauman from stealing Animator vs. Animation by telling hime he was breaching the DMCA
  16. Also webmasters cannot tell their members to <- snipped -> as that usually will break the TOS.}
  17. Alcohol I can handle, since the only problem with alcohol is the fact that the only people that have injured themselves and their families are those who have no self control. Smoking, however is a bigger issue with tobbacco companies engineering mutated tobbaco plants just so their substance can be that more addictive, and more deadly at the same time. Marijuana unfortuanately gets the pin instead of tobacco even though it is unable to cause lung cancer due to chemicals that kill cancerous cells in the lung before they can develop.
  18. Wow, it's not like that gets covered every day. If people cared to learn if there was a recall on their product if this would even happen. Also, a Digg poster noticed one thing about all these laptops in these stories - they all had their liud closed and were most likely on stand-by mode, so I suggest if you take care of your laptop be not putting in stand-by mode or using it for long periods of time you should be fine..
  19. Why don't you modify the module's template or php script. Even a braindead monkey could find the ad code. It should be a link to a javascript script.
  20. 7-Zip is good, but I still think it's nothing compared to powerarchiver.
  21. Have you considered using Javascript in your menus so that you can make submenus? That should alleviate much of the problem. You would however have to update menus manually. That isn't that bad to update either.
  22. I meant linking to this topic from the wiki page, but I can link to your site if you wish. Thanks!
  23. D you mind if I put this stuff in my source code wiki? I will give you credit if you do allow me to.
  24. For those who are complaining about anti-aiased fonts in IE: Are you SURE you enabled Microsoft Cleartype in the display options? IE will only render anti-aliased font if Cleartype is on...
