  1. I hope you never have to deal with this problem like I did once... few years agoFirst of all, it is critical to avoid the dog bite. Experts recommend that you never leave a child and a dog alone together.Unfortunately, even supervised dogs will bite children under unexpected circumstances. Just because the owner is holding the dog's collar does not mean your child is safe.Second of all, ANY bite that draws blood / breaks the skin (Cat, Dog, or Human) requires anti-biotic treatment. If a visit to the emergency is not warranted based on the size of the cut, go to a doctor within a day to get a prescription to prevent infection. Infected cuts scar.Thirdly, If you don't know the vaccination history of the dog you must report the dog and the event to the authorities for rabies testing. If the dog is a stray, the bitten person will require rabies shots.Fourth of all, if this happens to your child remember that your immediate instinct is that of a mother bear with her cub. You will be ready to attack and out for revenge. Calm down before you start blaming everybody and attacking the dog. It is important to try and be a civilized human being even when something uncivilized and inhuman occurs.Fifthly, try not to make a big deal in front of the child that may make the child more afraid. Don't expect the dog to be punished after the fact if it was provoked. Obedience lessons with the dog and the child (if they are to live together) from a professional trainer are a good idea. Finally, I hope this never happens to you. Maybe if you realize that it happens quite often and that dog bites are the second most common reason for children to visit the hospital, you will realize that you******MUST WATCH YOUR CHILDREN WITH DOGS******.It doesn't matter how cute, nice, well-trained, friendly, well-known, or small the dog is... any dog can bite a child under circumstances. I hope you never have to deal with this problem yourself.

  5. Ok, so I've done some looking around trying to see if it's possible I could dual-boot my pc with Windows XP Home and Vista Ultimate Edition (x64). Well, I know it's possible, but I'm not understanding many guides I read because many people have mentioned assorted stuff like requiring two hard drives (I only have one 250GB one), and other assorted stuff like software I'd need to supply certain space to the two separate partitions.I was thinking of making my Windows XP be more of the serious partition, and having Vista be the more media-centered one, so the majority of my space would be on the Vista one. And on that note, I was wondering if Vista would be able to play games any better than XP's partition? I know this normally isn't the case, but I have 3GB of ram, and I've heard XP only uses up to 2GB of ram and no more. That, and I have a dual core operating system, and I know home doesn't use x64 to it's full potential. I know it uses both cores, though not as efficiently as it could, as in dedicated cores, as Vista has the capabilities to do. Would this potentially make games better off? I know that I'm using geforce 7900gt, and that nVidia has ****-for-drivers, so it won't be any better, if only much worse, than XP home, but will it have potential to run smoother AFTER nVidia finally releases a few better drivers? And if at all possible, can anyone show me a tutorial on how to do it if it's possible on a single hard drive, or what software is the best to stick w/ as far as separating memory to different partitions goes? Thanks for all the help!

  10. Hello,My cousin recently purchased a Mensa book from a charity shop (thrift shop) which was published by British Mensa Limited in 1996. The book is called MENSA presents Logic puzzles.I would like peoples opinions on this question and answer:Question.Carrier PigeonsA driver approaches a bridge. He notices that the maximum weight allowed is 20 tons and knows that his empty pantechnicon (removal van ) weighs 20 tons. However, he has a cargo of 200 pigeons which weigh 1lb each. As the pigeons are asleep on perches he stops the vehicle, bangs on the side to waken the birds who start flying around, then safely drives over the bridge. Is he correct?Answer.No. The pigeons remain at 200lbs even whilst flying. Those flying up would reduce the weight, but those flying down would increase the weight, so balancing the total weight.end of answer.I don't understand this answer. For example, if it was a very tall vehicle and all the pigeons were flying upwards at the same time then does that mean the van weighs less than if they were all flying down at the same time? Surely the answer should have been Yes, the driver is correct. Or am I missing something?
  11. Imagine taking a knife and cutting through touch human skin. We have a natural aversion to this. It is not simply that we do not want to cut our own skin but any skin. The thought of cutting into a dead rat, for example, makes us shudder.Of course, there are people who have so much hostility that they take a sadistic pleasure in this. They are, fortunately, very uncommon.Note, the people who do surgery, even minor surgery, have to overcome this averson. This includes the surgery room nursing staff, and visitors have to stay outside for more reasons than just needing a sterile proceedure. A muscual 200 lb male visitor could watch the blood and gore and faint.Any comments as to how medical people overcome this aversion?
  12. The eagle-eyed folks over at MacRumors spotted an advertisement on Apple's UK store that showed an eight-core Mac Pro desktop. Presumably the Macintosh would use two Intel Quad-core chips. Apple has since removed the ad from the store website.Rumors that Apple would incorporate two of Intel's Quad-core chips into a Mac Pro to produce an 8-core Mac Pro have been gongoing since late last year. Now that is a powerhouse... I bet it friggin' flys! Good show Peevles, I luff Mac shtuff
