  1. Try Gunz or Counter-Strike. I always found them to be quite fun to burn time.
  2. IMO the only good thing about Java is its portability. Other than that it is unacceptable for me to work with - it is slow, it takes up too much memory, and it's syntax definately isn't my favorite thing to work with with all the complexities that end up making me refuse to work with it completely. Even though I dislike C++, I believe it is a much more powerful language. Consider this: uTorrent which is made with C++ only occupies 1MB while Azereus, a client with similar featrures, is written with Java and occupies 70MB. There's something wrong with that.
  3. Meh. Vim is all I really need for a scripting language. Once you get into C and Pascal then an IDE might be really needed.
  4. What would the authorities do if you kill yourself? What punishment will you serve? There's no point in making it illegal because all it would do is waste the court's time.
  5. Anyone who really wants a gun can still get one even if there were laws against owning guns. To people that would massacre like the Colombine students, law would be just an empty threat - it wouldn't matter to them. They'd just get it from some underground weapons shop. Even if they were to move within the law and not buy a gun, nothing is stopping them from killing people with a Molotov cocktail.Guns do not kill people - it is the finger that pulls the trigger. As such, we should analyze the finger before giving it a gun for use. That's the only way that anyone is going to get anywhere practically with a gun law.
  6. Your markup is well done. Your site is laid out quite well. It passes my requirements.
  7. You can't 100% hide your IP. It's quite impossible with how the internet works. You can hide from one server by proxy, but that proxy server will know your IP.
  8. The bible is 1 part historical text, 1 part rubbish. We can prove many things that happened in the bible - such as Roman methods of execution. However, parts in which God is mentioned can be not proven to have truly occured. These could be anything from psychological hallucinations, to wild stories distorted over the years before they were written in text, to people just trying to keep a hoax alive. Of course, I'm just stating possibilities that aren't that far out there.
  9. The Bible says that nobody can predict the end of the world, and it will come when people least expect it. But then again, as a deist(one who believes in a god who does not interfere with the world directly, but rather automates the world through science) I reject biblical texts, and so I believe it's a bit of rubbish.
  10. You don't need to deal with problems such as virii through safe mode nor antivirii programs. If you setup a limited user account like you should have for security and did all the proper settings to keep you perfectly safe(unless you do something inherintly stupid), then, most likely, you will:a) Prevent a virus from being installed on your computer without your consent;) Quarantine a virus to nothing more than your account if you ran the setup program within your account. What this means is if anything goes wrong, you can just back up your data, delete your limited user account through your administrator account, recreate it, and you've removed the virus. However, if you ran as an administrator the process gets a bit complex, especially if you have one of the active virii that will hide themselves even in safe mode, or run as a protected process so you are unable to shut it down to delete it. At that point is when you should start digging for your backup CD and buy that DVD burner. All antivirus programs are are a waste of money! Setup a router, limited user account, complex password on your administrator account, use a browser with few security holes and be careful what you install on your computer(Even if you just to the last two), you will be safe, and not sacrifice your processor speed for a process which your computer does not need. In addition you don't have to deal with the amount of space wasted by the antivirus software or the consistent nagging of it.Funny thing is this is exactly how Unix systems are setup, and that's half the equation of why they are more secure.
  11. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent should give you all you need to know.
  12. If we learned only one skillset, there are several problems:1. The general population will be ill-equipped to swap careers should it be needed.2. The general population will be inherently unintelligent, since reading and math not required for all careers. That is not a world I would want to live in.3. The general population will not be able to handle a common task such as calculating taxes because they have not learned that skill.4. The general population will be ill-equipped to persuit hapiness. People these days are not satisfied at staying at a single career for long periods of time.I had another one, but I do not remember the counterpoint.
  13. I don't like that it forces you to indent your code. If someone wants to really learn a language Pascal should be a good choice because its syntax is very strict, but it doesn't force you to indent your code. PL/I would be at the opposite side of the scale because of how very loose it is - there is not a word you cannot use in PL/I, and there isn't any forcing of structure like python. HTML isn't a programming language, it's just a markup language - a standard way to show a document. I do know HTML and CSS. They're quite good tools to learn due their near universal-ness. The only thing that succeeds HTML in compatibility with operating systems(as?in having the proper tool installed to view HTML even if it is a dated standard) is plain text.
  14. If they worked on my hardware, HaikuOS and eComStation would be my hands down favorite OSes. HaikuOS is compatible with applications meant for Linux, and eComStation can practically run every major binary you'd care about with the exception of OS X binaries. The best part is both of them aren't very bloated.
  15. uTorrent is my client of choice. It loads quickly, occupies a mere 1 MB of space, and gets the job done with about the same amount of features you get out of Azeurus, but without the bloat. The downside is it's for Windows only.
  16. That's quite a shame, though I've never been able to test it out on this host. It is a nice feature.
  17. Who said you needed to buy a custom template? It doesn't take much effort to build your own with a little practice. You can make a professional level template with just notepad, and GIMP, in roughly the same amount of time it takes to make a professional one with the tools of the trade. I will warn you now that if you use a large CMS like Joomla, phpBB, Post-Nuke, your attempts to build templates will be much more difficult than a simpler, lighter CMS with very similar features and capabilities like DokuWiki, Siteframe, and FlingForum.
  18. Before I answer, I'll just say that the best webmasters make their own template or pay someone to make a unique template. ;)It all depends on what you use - SSI, pure HTML, or a CMS, and so how you install it varies very greatly because you will barely have to modify it in some cases, and in other cases you have to completely overhaul the thing.
  19. Not very good, IMO. The menu blends too much into the design, and the logo sticks out too much. There is a marquee on the top of the page. There are useless widgets and images at the bottom of the page. co.nr isn't the best type of domain you can get because it uses frames which means engines do not cache your site. Your code seems fine because it is written with divs, which is very good, however.
  20. There've been tons of sites that are quite ugly, from a webhost, to a perscription site, to the site mentioned by the original poster. However, I believe you can find worse sites on YTMND.com if you really dig deep.
  21. I've been interested in making mods for Duke Nukem and SCUMM, but I've never really done it because I'm simply not an artist.
  22. It's pretty funny, quite nice for the most part until it gets to a certain scene.
