Hey, and welcome back! I don't really know anything much about lacrosse, but have fun playing. I agree that this is a wonderful community, and a vast information repository.

I've heard lots of talk about dual-core processors (Intel Pentium D and Core Duo for the Macs, and AMD's lineup too). For me it wouldn't be practical, since I don't game or do other really processor intensive tasks. But for those who have money, need speed (and want to have the latest tech), it sounds good to me. Eventually, they will come down in price, and even mainstream computers will have dual-core chips sometime.

Trouble Installing Php Cms. Please Help. Please help me.
michaelper22 replied to wild20's topic in Programming
Deleting your public_html folder deletes all of the files that are web accessible. I bet that the only way to get this problem solved is to end your hosting and start over, since it's too late to get back your site anyway (if I read correctly). -
For Admins : Important Issue About Invision Power Boards
michaelper22 replied to itssami's topic in Web Hosting Support
If phpBB Plus is free (or you paid for it), and it uses Perl or PHP (which the Trap has both of), you can use it. But you might as well install either phpBB or SMF (Simple Machines Forum, which I happen to like) through Fantastico, to save you time and possibly frustration. As far as getting an old version of IPB, I've never downloaded any software off of file-sharing networks, and the rest I got from their authors or a legitimate download site. -
Post Your Desktop Scrrenshots Here Beautiful Desktop Screen Shots
michaelper22 replied to delivi's topic in Art & Creativity
Nice background on your desktop Albus. I see that you're a big IM'er, based on the presence of MSN, Yahho and AIM messenger icons in the tray. I never thought anyone could have so few icons on their desktop. -
Area 51 In Google Earth do you know the coordonates
michaelper22 replied to adriantc's topic in The Internet
If you zoom out a little bit, then you will see the whole Area 51. It's incredible what sattelite image viwers can do, showing us pictures of supposedly top-secret army bases is "very impressive" in the words of my classmates -

Is 21 Y.o. Old? Is 21 year of age considered old?
michaelper22 replied to FLaKes's topic in General Discussion
I don't know about you guys, but I'm 14 and I feel old! If I tell my dad that, then he'll tell me "Old? You're not old!" He has this thing - the two words he hates the most are 'middle-aged' (directly related to this topic) and 'orthodontist' (unrelated side note; hates them because they want a ton of $$$$).I'm a teenager and sort of want to be older - I want to have money, not have to go to bed really early or wake up early (I know, lawyers and doctors are up at the crack of dawn), and many other things. -
Yugioh 2v2 Dueling Online Online Dueling - made in vb
michaelper22 replied to Raptrex's topic in Programming
You wrote it yourself - good job! I used to be a not-very-big-at-all yugioh fan, but ditched the game as the people in my area stopped playing. I've never seen a 2 on 2 game though. -
Ajax Asynchoronous Javascript + XML
michaelper22 replied to lava.alt's topic in Science and Technology
I like the new AJAX applications. I would want to make a small application that uses AJAX for reducing page loads. As far as I know, IE 6, which supports AJAX, does run on Windows 98. I don't know how exactly, but there is a way to check if the user's browser supports AJAX; it's a few lines of JavaScript that looks for either Microsoft.XMLHTTPRequest or the XMLHTTPRequest() object (correct me on either of the above), and if both don't exist, then it will foward to HTML only version. For example, Gmail works on non-AJAX browsers. -
Trap17 Is Getting "overposted"... ...and I dont like it.
michaelper22 replied to Unregistered 015's topic in The Vent
I find that not EVERYTHING has already been discussed, but close to everything. As someone else said, if you need to post, click View New Posts at the top of any page, and I'm sure that you'll be able to find something to talk about. As far as writing tutorials, I have no advice, except to make it yourself, as opposed to copying. Ive been with the Trap since November, and I love it (to an extent). Also, see this topic of mine: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/34288-topics-that-annoy-me-millions-of-replies-waste-of-time/. -
Topics That Annoy Me Millions of replies = waste of time
michaelper22 replied to michaelper22's topic in The Vent
If I set my settings so that I don't get reply notifications, I will surely forget to enable it for all the topics that seem good. When I post into one of these threads, it's mostly before it gets tons of posts (like I make the 5th or 6th reply in it), and when it does, I'm already sucked into it. I find it a pain in the *** to go and disable the notifications for just one topic. That can take an exra 5 minutes of my precious time, since the pageload times here aren't exactly as fast as light. -
Every now and then, I find one of these topics around the forum asking what people do. I usually reply, and over time, the amount of replies in that thread really adds up, and I don't really have the time to go and disable the reply notifications of all these topics. It's like every member of the forum replies to it. I get really annoyed, because I get areply notofications for every topic I post in, and I have to get by those in my email (Gmail does weird things with the Xisto notofications, grouping all the notofications of a day into one conversation) just to see the ones that are worthwhile reading. Examples of such topics: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/9154-leaving-your-computer-on-is-this-good-for-it/ http://forums.xisto.com/topic/32573-what-do-you-enter-in-google-the-most-or-any-other-search-engine/ http://forums.xisto.com/topic/32571-do-you-read-other-peoples-posts-before-joining-discussion/ And more to come.... These are good examples of pointless topics. They don't really serve a purpose by existing (and their reply notifications taking up space in my inbox).

Rumor: Apple May Launch Cell Phones Cell Phones
michaelper22 replied to manan's topic in Mobile Phones
Once I saw a thing in some magazine on various possible new Apple products, ranging from a photo viewer device, to a cellphone. From the picture that I saw there, it had a Click Wheel (a typical Apple feature). But if you ask me, I don't really think that they are ready to make cellphones yet. -
Are Mobile Phones Dangerous? to the users health...
michaelper22 replied to googlue's topic in Mobile Phones
A long time ago, I saw this little thing that you put on the speaker supposedly blocks the radiation on some TV ad. If you ask me these days, it seems like bogus (except to all those teenage girls - and even guys - who yap almost 24/7; you know what I mean ) , especially to me, because I rarely use a cell phone. Also, as far as exploding cell phones go, see this article on PC World, about counterfeit hardware peeking in all over the world. -
What Is Goowy? The first email in flash
michaelper22 replied to sanbeand's topic in General Discussion
Ooh, ahh - this is a really nice service. The whole thing is in Flash, for a real rich media experience. It took me about 15 minutes to find a way to send an email, but I think I like the minis part, it's like desktop widgets. Overall, it won't replace Gmail., but it's pretty nice. -
Gmail For Free - No Invitations You can sign up through Mobile
michaelper22 replied to scab_dog's topic in The Internet
Go to the gmail homepage and click the link to sign up for Gmail with your phone (or just go straight here. You need to have a cell phone for this. It will ask you for your number, and send you a text message with a number that you enter on the site. Then you fill out account details. -
Gmail For Free - No Invitations You can sign up through Mobile
michaelper22 replied to scab_dog's topic in The Internet
If I had a mobile phone, I would probably try this out - but I don't . It sounds like a good way for people to get Gmail, especially without an invite. I would trust Google with my cell number, too. BTW, there is already Google Pages - a take on web hosting. See http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ -
First patch already! They haven't even publicly released it yet (Betas don't really count as public) and they found a hole. I suppose that the first week I will be using Vista (if I ever get it) I will be faced with downloading a whole bunch of patches, maybe even a Service Pack (whoa! Might just happen!).

I got a $50 compUSA gift card, and got myself this really good mouse. It's really comfortable (and about 1/3 bigger than my cheap HP optical mouse), has a 4-way scroll wheel thingy, side buttons, and a decent optical sensor. It cost me $29.99 AFTER REBATES (one of which is on it's way, have yet to do the other one since it's due in April). In general, I think that Microsoft hardware, unlike their $oftware products, is a job well done.

I used to use hibernation when I would walk away from my computer for extended periods of time (several hours), but for some strange reason, Windows won't boot into a hibernated session anymore. I like hibernation - it's fast and gets me going again faster. As far as it being bad for your system - what on earth are you talking about? Instead of just dumping everything in memory after shutting down, it saves it to the disk, and reloads it later on the next bootup. I can't imagine why it would be bad for your hardware.

Thank you Truefusion. Is it ok that I used it as my sig onthe forum on my site (because I already did).
