Joomla is probably the best open-source CMS out there. With just a little bit of experience, you can build an easy to navigate site, complete with forums, a photo gallery and whatever else you could think of. For developers (which I'm not), you are given a powerful framework to build your applications on. If you have never used a CMS before, or are thinking about trying another one, give Joomla a shot, and you'll see the difference.

The Best Media Player Which is your best media player?
michaelper22 replied to finaldesign's topic in Software
Windows Media Player 11 is the bomb. The somewhat redesigned interface looks sharp and functions intelligently. The updated sync functionality is much better, as is the burning tool. Library seaches display as you type, and are updated instantly. -
You should probably go to your local wireless store and play with real, working models of each phone. That is by far one of the best ways to pik a phone.I'd go for the Razr, for good looks, and for the size of the phone while open. It's long and wide, which is better for larger-handed like me. Also keep in mind that each carrier has their own firmware for the phone, so you will notice differences between AT&T and T-Mobile Razrs, even if they have the same Motorola model number.

If your home experiences a power surge, and your equipment isn't grounded, then your computer will short out (or fry in other words). Having a ground gives the excess electricity a place to go, other than through a shorted circuit.Having a surge protector and a grounded line each accomplish their own thing, but work together. Your computer has a ground of its own if it is connected to to a grounded outlet, but the surge protector keeps the surge from reaching your computer.Keep in mind that cheapo surge protectors don't do as good of a job at absorbing surges, so go with a good brand like Belkin or APC.

What Do Your Teachers Do After School? Mine....
michaelper22 replied to Becca's topic in General Discussion
My (former, now that the school year is over) chemistry teacher plays some crazy kind of poker on Thursday nights I believe. He says that the money he gets from my school is poker and gas money (which makes a bit of sense, considering he teaches at three schools, and only one class at mine). -
It's kind of difficult to describe New York City in words, but it's also almost unecessary. NYC is a mix of lifeless commercial areas, "suburbia" (tree lined streets, but not really rural because there are stores within walking distance), "the big city" and other types of residential and commericial neighborhoods.Manhattan is basically where tourism is centered around, but is also the most expensive place to live with NYC. Rent is amazingly expensive, which means housing and goods cost more. However, Central Park is close to many residential areas, with other nice parks scattred around in other areas (Bryant Park, Riverside Park, etc.).Quick fact: The borough of Queens is the most ethnically diverse 115 square miles on Earth.

How Clean Is Your Room? Mine is like a blizzard hit town....lol
michaelper22 replied to velma's topic in General Discussion
Several years ago, the floor of my extrondinarily small room was covered from corner to corner with all sorts of random things. Over time, most of the stuff has either found a place in my closet or the circular filing cabinet (aka the garbage), and I'm beginning to feel a lot more responsive toward messes in my space. Some of the various productivity sites, Lifehacker in particular, have led to improvements in my organizational habits. This article may be of interest: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ -
Wearing a seatbelt is supposed to make you part of the vehicle. If you are not wearing one, you become a projectile, and can injure both yourself and others if you fly out of your seat in an accident.I'm utturly bugged by the teens who put the upper portion of the seatbelt either behind their backs or under their arm, as opposed to the normal way of across the chest. It's probably more comfortable in the proper position anyway.

I didn't mean that we should get the RC or beta right now. At the the point that cPanel 11 is stable, all the bugs worked out, etc., will Xisto transition to it?
-
Wit the upcoming release of cPanel 11 in the coming weeks, does Xisto / Xisto - Web Hosting plan to upgrade to the new version? I have taken a look at the demo on cPanel's site, and it really does look impressive, especially the new file manager. Xisto doesn't seem to be following the latest and greatest these days, but this looks like a surefire way to get more customers and retain current ones.

Adobe Premiere Pro can easily do this task (relative to the other tasks you can accomplish with it). Instructions if you happen to have it:1. Drag the clip from the Project window into the Source monitor.2. Find the point in the clip that you want to start at. Click the Set In Point button.3. Do the same for the end, just with the Set Out Point button.4. Drag the video fom the Source Monitor to the timeline.5. Create a few titles using the blank, default template. Add your text where you want it to be.6. Drag the titles from the Project window and place them over the timeline. Adjust the title lenghts to match the video.

I am somewhat duly impressed at the upgrade. The new User Control Panel looks sharp and is well organized, compared the the one in version 2. It reminds me a bit of the administrator console in SMF.The pos screen looks a bit better too, but there aren't many real improvements. Mostly just the same elements rearranged, with the addition of the file upload panel.

It's unfortunate, but I've been cracking my neck for at least a couple of months, and now I can't go very long without doing it over and over again. My neck feels stiff, and if I try to hold it in for a couple of minutes, I feel like I'll have have a headache. Are there any at-home remedies for neck cracking?

With the slim design of the iPhone, it would be almost impossible to make a removable battery. The iPhone doesn't break many technology barriers, but it surely shines in design. Ex: rotatioon sensor, unique interface, finger guestures, and some others. However, I'm not condoning nor prohibiting you guys buying iPhones when they come out this month.

Free Domain Name Free Domain for Life.
michaelper22 replied to OpaQue's topic in Alerts, News & Announcements
The bandwidth is whatever your Trap 17 hosting plan comes with. You will need to gather 10 or 30 credits for hosting first, get approved and sign up for hosting, and then you can start saving credits for the domain. -
Free Domain Name Free Domain for Life.
michaelper22 replied to OpaQue's topic in Alerts, News & Announcements
This sounds like a great idea, like most of OpaQue's ideas.Currently I am hosted with Xisto - Web Hosting, so am I able to get this package? Also, I have had a couple of issues regarding credits (I think jlhaslip knows about it), leaving me with an obscene credit amount that I will not disclose. Are these credits eligible for the domain package? -
From what I know, Google Analytics updates int data ever 24 hours. That means everything you are looking at is a day old. Statcounter and Mint are real-time, which is almost a neccessity these days.
-
Google Analytics is overall powerful and somewhat useful. It does have a good amount of reports with nice graphs. However, most of the information is only useful to people in marketing departments, not for those doing SEO stuff. The interface suffers from an outdated design, and it is difficult to drill down on data. Once you get really interested in who is visiting your site (looking to find out from which country a search was made in, and also associating other details with a particular visitor - referrers, entry page, etc.), you will realize what I'm talking about. My rating: 3/5 stars. It's only a matter of coicidence that a tool called Reinvigorate (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) lets you do all that I mentioned above. That is one great product. Google Analytics does not index your site. It is not connected to the Googlebot spider in any way.

Correct. According to what I read, you can only listen to the shared songs three times within three days of the share. It really kills the potential of the wireless functions. But it is still a great MP3 player, in terms of other features and the (gargantuam) display.

Best Ways To Reduce Acne need help
michaelper22 replied to Unregistered 012's topic in Health & Fitness
Stay cool, literally. After nights of sitting in my room with the blazing hot lights and my computer on, the temp rises a nice amount and makes my face secrete oil. Use less lighting if possible, and open up the windows (which in New York at this moment, will result in a nice rush of cold air). -
How Much For This Hosting Package? my custom package
michaelper22 replied to MusicOnly's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Once again, I suggest 1&1 (https://www.1and1.com/, look for the shared hosting packages). They will give you a heck of a lot more space and bandwidth than the plan you suggested, although they don't have cPanel. Their admin panel is OK though, and the staggering number of features they provide will make you forget about that. Rumor onthe street is that their web site builder is great, but i have never used it, so don't take my word for it.
