  1. finally cleared off the huge myCENTs debt!!!

  2. Has OpaQue given any update elsewhere? The last thing I remember was that the script was 80% ready and that it was postponed to be installed after all other upgrades have finished. Is there any other new news? I've just spent two days at Xisto and piled up a stack of myCENTs to clear off my huge debt. Now my account is finally back to normal and I'm looking forward to spending more time here - Xisto can surely get a bit boring after a while, but it is the only option left if the script over here needs more time to get ready. So if there's some news I'll be waiting to hear it so that I can decide whether to continue for some more time at Asta or stay here....
  3. I believe this happened to me once during the 30+ times I had to format XP At that time I was too impatient to think of a solution and just went ahead and formatted it once again, and this time it worked fine. I'm guessing you're getting the errors because there might have been something wrong while the files were being copied/installed. There might be a faster method to fix this problem, but I'm just sharing my experience - another formatting session solved the problem for me. So keep that as a back-up plan if you don't get another solution
  4. Hmm I've heard allegations like this before, and honestly don't know whether or not to believe them. I hope what you've pointed out isn't all true or a lot of people are in danger. In my case however, I don't consume industrial milk - I get it from a local diary which doesn't have the smarts required to use adulterants; so I'm assured the milk I get is pure. I shudder to think about people in the cities, though.
  5. I started a thread in this forum when I was new, asking for advice on buying a console. Thanks to budget problems I was not able to buy a PS3 back then. Now after a year I do have enough money to get the PS3, but still I went and brought home the PS2 If only the PS3 had supported PS2 games I would have bought it without a thought, but since all PS3 games fall out of my budget, I'm content with the PS2 for now. I've bought some good old titles like God of War, Tekken 5 and am having fun killing time. It's been a long wait of ten years to actually see a console in my home and it's a dream come true today, although its an outdated dream
  6. Thanks for the links and the suggestion, TomCol. It's sure been a while since I looked in here. Using HTML5 seems to be a very good idea. And maybe it could be a way to persuade people to get off IE. Many sites have the "Works only in IE" tag; now it's high time for "Won't work only in IE" :)I'm not so good with Javascript but it's good to know my options. Thanks again!
  7. I agree. During this transition phase we need more members to keep up the activity. A lot of members (including me) have stopped being active due to the fact that the myCENTs are still down after a month of the upgrade taking place. This is not what the forum needs right now. Activity will boost the confidence of new members who may be doubtful about how legit the forum is. It will also inspire our good ol' admin to work more efficiently on the myCENT script
  8. I'm quite fine with milk - in fact I've stopped drinking tea and only drink milk. I also eat a lot of cream - anything that helps That actually makes a lot of sense; I'll start concentrating on my diet. In any case, I can't keep up with the gym schedule throughout the year so I'll start thinking about working out at home instead. @rvalkass: Thanks a lot for the links; they were very interesting and helpful. I'll start taking care about my diet instead of running around powders Thanks for the help guys!
  9. Hmm this would be a tough question to answer, but I'd say I won't have any dream car till I get enough money. Once I'm sure I have the moolah to get any car I want, I'll pick out the car which is "in" at that time and get it If I end up spending a lot of money for a car which is hip now but outdated in the future, I'd be very unhappy. So why dream now......earn now and dream later!!
  10. Hmm I'll be brutally honest and say that I was attracted to the forums first only for the myCENTs. Before joining the forum I was totally against forum posting and the concept of a forum community. That was because I had spent a lot of time in a small community and made over 1500 posts and also made a lot of friends in the process, but one fine day, without any warning, the forum was shut down. That really put me off posting for a while. T17/KS offered no other choice to get hosting, so I started posting once again, but this time didn't bother too much on how many posts I made, and instead concentrated on the content and the members within. So far it's been a thrilling ride, although I do get bored now and then and take a break. This whole myCENTs episode has especially been tough, because the foremost thing in my selfish mind is still to get back something for my posting, but it just occurred to me really late that the myCENTs system at Xisto is still alive. This was enough inspiration to start posting there, and I'm also throwing in a post or two here as well :)Speaking generally about what the forum means to me, I'd say that I'll never forget it and I can't thank Opaque and the rest of the team enough. For years I've been desiring to get my own website and never got a chance to pay for my own site until T17/KS came along. I can't show my appreciation in a big way, nor can I promise that I'll continue to be here for the rest of my life, but I can surely say that I can never, ever forget this forum
  11. Hi there genevie - welcome to the forums A quick suggestion: single-line posts are frowned upon over here so try not to make too many of those. That doesn't mean you need to keep writing stuff to make the posts look long; just try to convey your thoughts in more than a line! The forum is going through an upgrade which is nearly finished, and so the members have to wait for a while before the favourite myCENT system is back online. Till then keep making some good posts and as soon as the system is back, it will take into account every post you've made and reward you with virtual money which you can use to get some top-notch hosting services. There are many, many categories over here so feel free to slip into any (or all) of them and get comfy with the community.Have a good time in the forums!
  12. Just a quick note on the domains - I'm not sure if this works anymore, but it did for me last time - check the pricing of various domains on https://xisto.com/. Some of the TLDs have a discount for one year. For example, .info domains can be bought at $7.69 for the first year while the usual rate for a .info domain is $10.99. Be sure to check out the "SALE" prices on Xisto - Domains.com. If you buy a .info domain from Xisto - Support, you will be charged $10.99 at first, but the sale comes into effect and you get back the remaining amount. If that doesn't happen, send in a ticket mentioning this and you will get back the amount. As I said, I'm not sure about this, but just keep it in note. Most members look for .com domains anyway and they're priced at $10+tax which amounts to around $12.Regarding the decade plan, it's a very basic package and should be used if you're planning to build a simple site. If your site requires multiple databases you won't get it in this package (it has only one) and you won't be able to add any more domains to the hosting account. If you're content with the limited features then it's a very intelligent plan as you don't have to worry about anything for ten whole years So balance your requirements and the features the plan offers.
  13. The home page of the new theme was better than the old one, but the broken effect inside posts was not pleasant to see. If that were fixed then I guess I would vote for the new theme; the default theme is good but a change is always welcome.I suggest that members are allowed to switch between both themes so that they have a choice whenever they feel one particular theme is getting too boring. Thank you very much for the time you're spending to make this forum a better place. I'm sure the wait will be worth it; can't wait to try out the new myCENT system soon
  14. Looks like I got onto this thread pretty late - first of all, a big thank you to Soviet Rathe for making this possible - your dedication to this forum is really praiseworthy. Actually I noticed this thread earlier and got into the channel using Pidgin, but thanks to the time difference whenever I logged in the room was empty (rather, it was inactive). So till now I haven't had a chance to use the IRC to chat, but I hope to do so sometime soon. I hope the other members will keep up their support too Rob's post covers most of the things one needs to know about IRC - thanks for writing Rob! My only gripe with IRCs is that they almost always never seem to work right for me. Oh well......
  15. Hey Sukhi - welcome to the forums. You've joined at a time when the activity's a bit low due to the lack of myCENTs; however we're very near to getting back the magic script which makes this forum fun. So keep posting and have a good time, and if you think the content is too bad, why don't you make it better Oh, and about the signature....even if it's allowed by the mods after a while it would not seem good to some members, even if it has a good meaning. The decision is yours of course; I just said what I felt. Anyway hope to see you around in the forums - have a good time!
  16. Congratulations Opaque. Just a quick doubt - when I'm signed out (i.e. a guest for the forum) a bright new design appears with a new logo (which spells 'kknowledgesutra"!) and the posts look so out of place and broken down. When I'm signed in, however, there's no change in design and I still see the old IPB default theme. I tried to look for an option which would take me back to that bright theme but didn't find any. The point is, visitors wouldn't like that theme very much when they're reading threads, because the sidebar showing members' info looks broken and makes the page too long. It would be good to clean this up soon. I'm sure quite a few members would agree that we need the myCENTs module more than the blogs, gallery and content (not sure which content you were referring to). I dunno if you've postponed it because it's not ready or due to some other reason, but if the module is ready then please try to install it before the other modules. I've already got two accounts suspended and my domains are next in line. (Yes we've been told to open a ticket but I tried that before and my account was suspended again after a day) So looking forward to the return of myCENTs soon and well done with the forum upgrade
  17. got the bright idea to spam Astahost for some quick myCENTS :P

That's what I've been wondering - why have we all been so quiet about it for a month?!!!

  18. Before I start writing anything, I'd like to quote a few words from wikipedia: Movies based on video-games have always been taken lightly by critics and the audience alike. The reviews and box-office earnings testify for this. The makers always fail to get it right. Sometimes its bad acting, sometimes its a bad change of script, or some other element which made the original game a success. However, Prince of Persia has managed to top the list of good movies based on video games, so that must mean it's good, right? Yes, and no. It's all because of that element which made the game a huge success. This movie tries to get it right from the beginning, but then loses it, picks up somewhere in the middle, and almost makes a huge mess of it in the end. Still, it will appeal to the fans and maybe end up as an average grosser. The first few minutes of the movie provide very good eye-candy, as we revel in ancient Persia, reconstructed carefully. We see as Dastan, an orphan is picked up from the streets by the King and is made a Prince. Then all of a sudden he grows up and we watch him getting ready for a war. Sounds similar to the game? Well it is indeed similar to the game's story for the first half-hour or so, and from then on there are heavy changes in the script. Actually the movie's script makes more sense than that of the game. But it isn't nearly as thrilling as the game was. The movie picks up a drag after the prince starts his travel with the princess to restore the dagger to safety. The Dagger of Time promises great fun and the scenes with it are awesome to look at. Other than that, there's nothing new in here. All the chase/fight scenes seem too routine to enjoy. I watched the dubbed version so there was some comedy with accents; dunno if that comedy was meant to be there in the English version. The ending was a bit predictable and again resembled the game's story to some extent. All in all, it's just a popcorn movie meant to be enjoyed with friends on a day when you look to kill time - a whole 116 minutes of it!
  19. I've recently started working out at the gym after the 1000th person called me thin OK it's not very recent - it's been two months since I started, and so far I've been on a basic workout, with the trainer making me work with seven different machines (of which the only machine whose name I can say in English is the bench press). Until now the result has been that I've become even thinner, perhaps losing around three kgs, but there's definitely been a significant increase in muscle mass, of which I'm proud of, but my trainer is not. The problem is that a well-balanced diet is required and my diet doesn't cover too much protein. I'm a strict vegetarian and so I won't eat any meat or even eggs (yeah some people say eggs don't come under 'non-veg', but I don't eat them anyway). So my trainer suggested that I use protein powder twice a day. But I've always been cautious about using any nutrition-supplement like that. Is using such powder dangerous? I did a quick google search and at least three websites suggested that using protein powder too much causes damage to the kidneys. I don't know if two spoons a day counts as too much. So could someone with experience help me out with this please? Should I start using the powder or better not risk it?
  20. Thanks for the updates BuffaloHelp; they're really helpful Just like the other members I hope the new system is back online very soon. OpaQue is doing a great job with upgrading the code, although I wish there had been a way to implement the older code temporarily until the new code is ready. I'm sure the members wouldn't mind a slow script instead of no script at all! Anyway until then I hope at least one of my hosting accounts will be kept alive till things get back to normal.
  21. I think for now the limit is fine where it is. Most of the members wouldn't cross even 10 posts per day, and for the most active members, it's a good limit. Once the myCENT script is back in action, the members who make 25 posts per day have a good chance of making at least $10 per day? So that's a really good limit, IMO, and it should stay like that. As for the theme, I think the focus should be on bringing back the myCENT script now rather than the theme. Let the admins breathe!!
  22. There's been a lot of talk about hacking, but I would like to ask a single question - why should pictures be put up in public anyway? Social networking sites are used mainly to keep in touch with friends, and these include friends whom we meet in real-life and long-distance friends, whom we don't see for many years. In both cases, is it really necessary to put up the photos online so that these friends can view them? Wouldn't it be much safer if they were sent through emai (or shared through picasa, flickr, etc)? Does the whole world really need to see all those party or other events' photos?!!! Why put them online and why worry about them being hacked?
  23. Sorry that the contest didn't take off as expected As everyone's been saying the main reason is the lack of activity in the forums; most of the members are put off by the fact that the myCENTs script is down and thus aren't posting regularly. Another reason is that (I think I've mentioned this somewhere before) members living outside the US and Canada are most likely not going to participate because they're not eligible for the prizes. They could still do it for the forum, but look at the chances - we have just a really small group of members still active, and out of that small group there are a few members living in those two countries, but they need to get the inspiration to participate in the contest, and the members from other countries first have to get the thought to do something for the forum and then accept the fact that they won't be rewarded for it. So the chances are really slim As for me I tried to think of something creative, but given my resources here, I figured I can't do anything big. I've been meaning to tell a few friends about the site but this isn't the best time to invite them over, since the core myCENTs system is down, and it would just drive them away. On the same note, it would be better to reschedule this contest to the time when the script starts running again, because even if the members start promoting the site, the visitors will most likely not stay because the script is still down....
  24. Dog bites man.....that's not news; Man bites dog.....now that's news! The weirder the news is, the better. which is why I started this thread in the first place Anyway the logo's gone now and I guess there's no way to play it through the home page again. There's still an option to play just the pacman game through Google's games page, or we could simply wait for another 30 years You got that right; it's too damn hard to get past the later stages and I gave up soon. And in any case, the fun wears off after a while anyway, so I just play until it's fun.
  25. Everyone knows that Google keeps changing its logos for some special occasions. But until now all the logos were merely doodles. But their latest logo is a fully-functional pac-man game, created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the game! So if you want to play Google's pac-man, visit google.com before the day is over! Look at the screenshot if you don't believe me I barely managed to finish 2 levels before I got bored Test your patience against this classic game.... http://i47.tinypic.com/2r5ba7b.jpg
