Is Microsoft Using Spyware? I am suspecting...
networker replied to fermin25's topic in Security issues & Exploits
I'm sure Microsoft knows a lot about you.As far as the terms of service go,you'd probably have to be a lawyer to fully understand all of it.After all,Microsoft would of had lawyers write it up.If Microsoft isn't spy ware, then it is at least spy ware light. Not much difference at all really. You must read between the lines. -
X10 Hosting Anyone Been Here? Review please
networker replied to frozen.fish's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Don't bother with them. They are horrible. For example, I always met theforum posting quota, but they will suspend you for the smallest reasonanyway. All of a sudden you'll find out things, such as your databaseaccess has disappeared, and on and on. The site will go down for ages for no reason. They are a bunch of moronic cretins. Avoid them. -
Unfortunately the future of web design will become more and moretemplate based, and more and more based around "drupal' and "joomla'type environments. Only because people won't put in the effortto learn the basics themselves. This will mean that sites will be less unique and individual and more genericthan ever. The paint by numbers approach will prevail unfortunately.

I've never tried to plant a garden, but once with this maintenance job I had,I had to plant grass seed.I laid down all kinds of topsoil and then scattered seeds all over the soil somewhat evenly. The only problem was that people walked all over it,so it neverhad a proper chance to grow. tHe rule is,when plantinggrass seed always rope it off,or build an electrical fence around it,because otherwise it'll never have a chance to grow properly.

Problem With Permissions On Public Htm!
networker replied to webishqiptar's topic in Web Hosting Support
Look in c-panel.You should be able to change the permissions ofthe file once you have uploaded it. Each file has a tab where you can setpermissions. For example 0777 gives full read and write permissions for anybody. -
What Are Some Stupid Things You've Read?
networker replied to electriic ink's topic in General Discussion
One of the stupidest books I ever read was the Satanic bible. It was writtenby some *BLEEP* called Anton Levey or something. I mean, who the hellwould ever believe in that garbage. I guess this Levey guy was just looking to add more followers tohis power trip. -
Animal farm is a true masterpiece from one of the greatest writers whoever lived.I love reading all of Orwell's books though, even if some of themget a little 'textbookish' in the inclusion of economic data. Animal farm perfectly describes human nature and how truecommunism could never work. You have to give Orwell credit. He had such integrity. He wasupper middle class wealthy but would slum it just to see how theother half lived.

I guess the common cold is pretty harmless to most people, except thosewho are already sick or the elderly. Most people get a cold once a year?In the last few years I haven't had one. Why, I don't know.Just lucky I guess. There have been some cold winters too.

It's always good news when a war ends. Hopefully there is no resurgence of theTamil Tigers. If all the leaders are dead then it looks like the end of them anyway.

Do You Know About Sinusitis? Need your Experience
networker replied to buherath's topic in Health & Fitness
This guy sounds right professional, like a doctor. I also find sleeping with a lumpy pillow will give you symptoms very much akin to a sinus effect as well.lol. Seriously, wouldn't Vick's vapo rub help for sinus problems? -
Yes.I guess technically it would be possible to packet sniff his network, and if you knew his ip address, then pull his data out from there.I think that would be a hell of a lot of work though. Packet sniffing isnot an easy concept to understand or achieve.I tried it several years ago when I was trying to get free wireless internet. What a headache. You'd really have to be some kind of geek to succeed.I'm just not that geeky.

Educate People On Cyber Security The need of the hour
networker replied to longtimeago's topic in General Discussion
Common sense has to come into play as well, just like nottaking candy from strangers. Someone has to learn basic life skills. Somebody who is susceptible torisking their security on the internet, would be the type of personwho would leave their doors unlocked when leaving home. These are things that you have to learn, and sometimes people learn them the hard way.Unfortunately this is unavoidable The idea of needing a license to use the internet strikes me asbeing very right wing though.Just a little too radical.Life is a bumpy road and there is not much that can change that. -
The way I see it,you can only type so fast,so a Pentium 4 would suffice.I'm not interested in computer games much anyway, so super speed doesn'tinterest me.There are a lot of software and hardware problems with 64 bit computers anyway. That's all I hear from anybody I know who has them.I'd wait until they are cheaper and more hardware/software compatible beforebuying one.

Pirates! Somali Pirates Kidnapped A Greek Ship Oh My God
networker replied to ORene's topic in General Discussion
There have always been pirates and always will be.They are a fact of life.Just look at Piratebay, right here on the internet. Obviously The Somali government isn't strong enough to do anything about the problem. The only answer then is interventionfrom the U.N,which would mean armed patrol of the waters and help in gettingthe Somali economy together.Easier said than done.It seems the only solution though. -
That's true.As the expression goes there's a silver liningin every cloud. Sometimes though the silver lining is a littlebit hard to see and a little bit hard to get to. I guess itdepends on seeing the glass as being either half full or half empty.Another cliche, but still true.

I was wondering,in C-Panel there is a section that apparently allowsremote access to the Xisto mysql database from a remote site. You simply enter in the web address of where the code would be coming from. Would anybody know if you can do this from a desktop?By justentering your ip address? Also.wouldn't the php.ini file remote accessfeature("Which should be set to "off" by default) effect thisand disallow it? I was just wondering if anybody knew anything about this.

Most of my sites have lots of errors, although one of them onlyhas seven. Why, I don't know yet. I guess I should get around to fixing them up,but there are somany things to do first. So many things, that nothing ever gets done.lol.

Big Sam couldn't get things done at Newcastle though, after he left the Wanderers.Maybe there are more ingrained problems there than areopenly visible,i.e with ownership.I hear if Newcastle are relegated they will become another Leeds sincethey are heavily in debt.Apparently the guy who owns them now only bought them for the reason ofreselling them for profit, and he has really messed things up.We'll also see how good Big Sam really is by how he does at Blackburn.

They Will Never Find A Cure For Aids
networker replied to JasperIk's topic in Science and Technology
I hate to sound cynical but some people have a theory that the reason aids hasn't been cured is because there is way too muchmoney and profits in manufacturing drugs for it.The pharmaceutical companies make them and the healthinsurance and government agencies pay for them. -
Sometimes things are cut and dried and sometimes not.For example, If you find yourself unemployed a lot and you happen tobe good at a certain hobby, say painting then try selling yourpaintings. What's interesting is that this didn't work for Van Gogh.In his life heonly ever sold one painting.Strange but true.So how was he toknow his destiny? Life is funny.

I don't see any basis for thinking the world will end in 2012If you're also basing that on the Mayan theory thenrather than go through the details, such a theory hasproven to be inconclusive. As alteady mentioned, one malfunctioned nuclear generator won't destroy the whole world either and why did you have to pick theone at Chernobyl?

I'd say Newcastle, Middlesboro and West brom too. It'll be really shocking to see Newcastle go down. How the mighty have fallen.I don't really feel too comfortable about my Wanderers either. All we really need is one point from the last three matches to guarantee safety, and that's hardly being a formidable team though. We're a long way off from regaining the form that got us intoEurope and I don't think we can do it again with our current manager.Hopefully we are better next season.

I grew up in the North of England and it was verytraditional for kids to drink shandys.Beer andGinger Ale.You could actually drink it in pubs where they wouldpour it right at the table, not from a can with very littleactual beer either.Once, because of my friends sister I got a bit typsy when I was about 14.That would of been whiskey. Throughout my teen years I was quite the little partier.I've definitly toned it down now. They say wisdom is seeing the foolishness of previous ways, and not repeating them.It sure was a lot of fun though.
