  1. Oh, it seems to be something like Travian? In my country most people play Travian, or maybe a lot of whom even stopped playing it; It seems that Tribal Wars has much better graphics, but what about the game play?Just did some Google search and there seems be a lot of fanboys from both camps
  2. Err, it's very easy: Menu button => Tabs and Windows => Sessions => Save this session You can load your saved Opera sessions from the same place too, also you can manage them if required. As far as I remember this feature is available on Opera since I started using Opera 7, so it has to be 8 years now, it was maybe in 2003 ;]
  3. I agree, the way I deal with this problem, is I always copy from somewhere and when you paste something, you usually acquire not only text, but formatting too, to avoid it, I just usually paste into Notepad2 with UTF-8 encoding, cut it into where I want and the formating is stripped and only regular text is available.
  4. I agree that donating is a good way, I personally give away my old computers for somebody, if it's better, to a neighbor a friend, sometimes for a little fee :DBut be careful, avoid donating or giving your hard drive disks, or if you need to give them too, I suggest to not only format it, but overwrite all your files by connecting it to different format and filling it with quite big files, that all the old files would be overwritten and nobody could undelete your private data, also you can use tools which does this for you, usually it's called Drive Wiper or free space wiping.. By only formating, it's quite easy to restore your old files..I personally suggest this method:1) Format your partitions2) Destroy your partitions, create a different number of partitions, if you were using 2, create 4 partitions (Depends on the hard drive space)3) Format new partitions4) Fill those partitions with movies that it would be 100% full5) Format all partitions6) Wipe free space on them7) Destroy partitionsThis is a killer method :DTo tell the truth, it's enough to just delete all the files and fill the hard drive disk with different files, like movies that it would be 100% full and later just format it.
  5. 15 tabs is a lot? I usually have 30-50 tabs opened with Opera and have no speed issues and what starts to be strange now, that I know which square is which site I need to open.. I never used bookmarks though, sometimes I just save Opera sessions and name them, when I need to do some work with something, I open Opera sessions with tabs for that work, when I need to do something with something different I open a different saved sessions and have the default one, it's quite convenient and faster than using bookmarks or searching for the site with the required information again.
  6. AROS is an operating system for x86 processors based on the original Amiga OS, I've tried it a lot of times, you can try it out with VirtualBox as it's possible, just you need the required image of AROS, it's available for free. But the operating system it self is based on Amiga and I think for using it, you would need to be a guy like me who used Amiga OS 3.9 and even Amiga OS 2.1 a lot of years ago before Linux got so popular. Amiga OS weren't a computer which used x86 architecture and AROS for a lot of years now is porting it to x86 architecture.. For FREE, but I doubt it will ever be competitive to Windows or Linux these days. Amiga OS with GUI and a lot of programs could be installed and loaded from 1-2 floppy disks back in those days, or at least use 30-60 MB with all the possible Workbench stuff without any additional games and programs.
  7. In maths infinity isn't a simple number, logically: Infinity + 1 or Infinity - 1 or Infinity / 1000 or Infinity * 1000 or Infinity * Infinity is equal to Infinity I guess Infinity / Infinity could be 1, but I am not sure.. As when you add Infinity to Infinity you still get Infinity, using Infinity you can solve a lot of goals, you can get Infinity or a number near to 0, but you'll never reach 0, it's also infinitive or you can get 1 or any other static number.. When thinking if Infinity is possible by matter, it's a different question, we know that a lot of resources are finite, as I know maybe the galaxy may be finite? but imagine you could store a number in a paper using the whole space our universe offers? Logically it would have some kind of an ending, but practically the number is just infinite, you won't have the time or anything else won't have the time to ever reach the end or finish it. When, of course, somebody can ask a question, but what is time? ;]
  8. Well, it depends how you will use javascript in your website. If you use an javascript way to show your data, then there could be problems on how you will be indexed. It depends, just read a bit about SOA, there are plenty topics here on these forums about SOA.
  9. Hello,Welcome to the forums, I hope you'll enjoy your stay here in this community
  10. It's a little strange for me to see people posting that C# is a clone of Java, but C# syntax is similar to C++, it's practically C++ with .NET framework, but with additions, that were available on Java, but in this case what is Java? It's a clone of C++ written from scratch, which has similar syntax of C++, but it had to be a language which could be easier to use and got some new features.. So basically C# is a language from Microsoft to use their .NET framework as much and better as possible and steal part of the market from Java which got so pupular in those years, but it;s popularity is dropping every year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Java_and_C++ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_C_Sharp_and_JavaSo both C# and Java is an easier to use and integrate clone of C++ offered for different an wider audience of programmers. In any way, C++ is far more superior language to create real software and games, where C# can be used to create quite simple applications which doesn't require a lot of computer power, as it tends to be slower. C# is good if you need to write a program to do something, but for system programming, graphics, games, real-time and embedded systems, etc, C++ is a much better choice. With C# you can create a simple program with GUI in lets say an hour, it depends on the functionality, I usually use it at my workplace when I need to do something quite simple using a GUI.
  11. I used to have this problem too, browser textarea field used to be very bad on all the browsers, now on most it's much more better and offers much more features, you can stretch it, use undo or redo, use check spelling and select different dictionaries by default, at least on Opera. Years before I used to use OpenOffice to write my posts it had check spelling and you could undo or redo and you knew that you could loose your post when pushing submit and going back used to make your text disappear..When I push submit and it doesn't seem to work, it lets say gives a 404 or 503 error or something like that, I just push back button and can see the post I wrote, I avoid using refresh/reload just because I used to loose my posts like that, when it doesn't seem to post, I push back button, Opera doesn't seem to refresh the page and I can see my text in the textarea field and copy the text into the clipboard and try again, if it still doesn't work, I just paste the clipboard to a text file on the desktop or in the Swap, doesn't matter and for some time I don't use Open Office for such things. :)I think Opera by default could integrate some tool which could show history or something you wrote in the textarea field, that would be convenient for most people and would require any addons as other browsers like to use, of course the setting could be disabled or enabled, due to privacy settings, or it could be removed every time the browsers quits, a lot of options. :)My method wouldn't work on the forum, when pushing the submit button it sends the POST data and refreshes my page? But usually it doesn't refresh the page, but tries to submit the POST data and direct you to your written post, in this case you can push the back button without problems.
  12. Interesting, it doesn't seem to be so expensive, especially when there are so much millionaires and billionaires these days, everyone can try it out, but maybe it's not good for their health? :)I would like an experience like that some day, looking how fast technologies are moving, maybe one day I will?
  13. It depends on the search engine, but usually it's better to stick to one way and not use both at the same time or at least use a redirect at htaccess level. Here is a list of resources on the subject for your question: http://theseoblogger.com/seo-blogs/subdomafor-a-seo-blog/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ So basically it depends on the subject of your sites, if it has some relevance with your main top level domain site, you can create a subdirectory, if it's a different site it seems it's better to use a subdomain.
  14. Photoshop as I understand is very good for web-masters and creating designs and much more, but in most companies.enterprises I've heard they usually search for people who know how to do modeling with Corel tools which includes Corel Draw..Isn't PaintShop part of Corel? and it;s a cheaper alternative to Photoshop which Today is so powerful and expensive
  15. Well, it's an Internet radio of my country, you can listen it with winamp or vlc media player, the address is here: http://www.startfm.lt/ I think you need to use google translate from Lithuanian to English to understand something or you can use the English version it offers, but it's only part of the site: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ there is a link to the Internet radio. I found it on the first link on google, so I guess google show different results for different countries and etc. Which is a bit a problem, but also a quite good thing..
  16. I think I will tell how I usually do things, which I learned while working, it's very simple and also it's very good method. Most websites are using a CMS system, usually written by somebody to somebody, especially for companies, the way we do things with most websites is that you have your own CMS which has a well written template wrapper to organize your code..The template files has everything, well structured HTML and CSS code which is usually done by a good code beautifier automatically for everyone, I mean all the programmers are using the same beautifier with the same settings for the code and also writes the comments for everyone to understand. So all the developers has nice and easy to read source files, but why do you need to show all that easy to read code to the end user who can view the source? No need at all, unless it's a site for developers to learn, but not a company site.. The CMS wrapper removes all the unneeded comments, spaces, tabs and etc. that the code would take less space and would use less bandwidth, I mean that the final website is send in a non easy to read HTML format, optimized a little, which is in fact very good: it's harder to steal the code, even though you can use any beautifier to make it look good again, but you won't see the removed comments..It saves bandwidth, especially for high traffic sites, but it uses a little bit of more performance, but the template wrapper is quite light and easy..In development stage, there's always a Debug mode, the developers of the site sees the code which is not optimized, due to o DEBUG constant is set to true on some IP addresses, which means that it's not an ordinary user of the website..So yes, you need to stay clean and make your code look neat and beautiful and easy to read, but there is no point of sending such a code to the end user browsing the site, he does not need to understand the HTML at all, in that way you save bandwidth and most of users don't read HTML code if it's a real mess if trying to steal something from it :DSo it's just my two cents..Also, sending your HTML using gzip is a good idea to save even more bandwidth, and it all can be done easily with PHP and output buffering, I mean it's very good to write your template wrapper using output buffering, I wrote about it in some topics here on Xisto or even maybe Xisto.
  17. Well, but remember that IE9 is still in BETA and it can't be too good, but I remember IE7, it seemed to much faster and etc, but with time after those updates it got to regular speed of a browser, even though I remember my first impressions it was mch faster than IE6, it was years ago.. So I think will be with IE9, after a while it slows down, or I might be wrong.. A benefit and also a loss is that Internet Explorer is tight to the Operating System, not like other browsers which can do a little more than a regular application. I am talking about some of HTML5 capabilities.. ;]
  18. Well, it only works on Firefox 2.0 / 3.0 and Internet Explorer 7 / 8 and only on Windows as I know. Support for Linux and Mac OS is still under development as it's told on the page..To play the game, you need to register.. But I agree that it lags a little bit, but strange that not always, but sometimes.. I played it only with IE8 and it worked well for me on Windows 7.. But yeah, my laptop is 32 bit :)It requires you to install an addon to play the game, maybe the browser or something is blocking the installation and that is the reason it doesn't work, as I remember using IE8 for it, it was quite hard to install it, I needed to push several times to run the addon to install it and etc. as due to the security reasons of IE It takes a while to start playing it, due to all those security reasons and due to a bit of laging, sometimes it seems it doesn't work and it starts to work :)But for me it works.. As I understand it's not HTML5, as it requires a special addon for it to run, but it's still fun.
  19. I didn't need to do anything serious with recording, but the things I've played with, I used Audacity, which is open source and was quite satisfied with it..Also VLC can do some thing with recording, it's quite simple
  20. I am using Opera browser as my main browser since Opera version 7 and it's really good and fast, don't have any problems with it, even though some people don't like the interface, but I am alright with it, in fact it's quite hard for me to now get used to Firefox, as it seems to have lots of things integrating into it as Opera, but with things I don't really need.I mainly use Opera and Chrome, which is very good due to it's so minimalistic, I hope it won't get full of things like Firefox, but will continue to be a simple, light, fast browser. Hope same for Opera, that they wouldn't put any unnecessary things which may slow it down or make it more resources hungry.
  21. For me and for some people I know, most interesting game play in SIMS is to build your house and build everything how you would like it to be, so this includes using cheats to get money!when you start playing it, it may get bored, especially with SIMS1 and SIMS2, SIMS3 from what I've seen offers much more action and fun stuff to play the game. It's really a fun game for a housewife and kids Of course men can also play, but as I read and know from my own experience, with time you get bored and usually just start building a new house or something like that
  22. In my country usually as I understand you're age is 10 even though if tomorrow you'll be 11.. For example, I can show a SQL sentence, which says who old are you and in all needed applications I've done for official government projects at my workplace was done by this method: Part of Oracle SQL sentence: trunc(months_between(to_date('2000.06.01'), usr.birth_date) / 12) age; So if you're birthday is 2000.06.01, it will give your age.. So if Today you're 10 years and tomorrow you'll be 11 years, it seems that you're 10 years old and not differently.. It's the way seems to be done in my country, but it may be different somewhere else or even in a different institution.. for example, whenever I need to caculate how long a user is working or active somewhere, the algorithm is a bit different.. you count the days between two dates and those days can be converted to years, approximately a year has: Again part of Oracle SQL sentence: round((usr.days / 365.24219),2); So it's not the exact number of days of that year, but it's the way it's done, at least I was told to do it like that as in my country they count this thing like this.. As I understand, age can also be written with one letter after the comma, for example: 10,5 years old, but it depends on the situation and what you need.
  23. My primary language is my mother-tongue :PMy second language is English, I had it in school since 2nd grade, also for 4 years I had German class, but I can't say I can speak German, just a little bit, the basics or even less than the basics now, as I forgot it in these past years :DI also can speak Russian, but with time it's getting worst, as I don't really need to speak it to much, I start to forget the words and how you spell them I can read very slowly in Russian, but I can't write normally at all, just all those printed letters, as Cyrillic is quite hard :F
  24. My pockets are empty :DI try to not put stuff into my pockets, but instead to put everything, cell phone, keys, wallet, usb key, some cards and etc. into a little packet which is always near me, it's much more comfortable for me, it's easier to sit and walk and run when your pockets are empty :DEven though, I used to put everything into my pockets years ago, so it usually was a problem to find something fast. and usually the pockets needed repairs, as keys are quite sharp.
  25. In our country last year as it was said was a swine flu epidemic or pandemic? but I personally didn't take an vaccine and didn't get infected. My several friends were cured in hospital in a week and only a minimum number of people died from it, usually people die from regular flu too, so public-ally swine flu was made a very dangerous disease here in my country and companies which sell vaccines and other pharmacy stuff got lots of income..As I know, swine flu is coming this year too, after a month or so the flue epidemic should accrue as always, periodically every year.. at least here..I've read and saw on TV a lot of different conspiracy about all these epidemics, sometimes I don't know what to believe.. sometimes it's really disappointing and dangerous.. It all seems to be about money.. As if somebody is interested to spread different flu mutations and sell vaccine for it that people would buy medicine and even more medicine, not even thinking about the results how it will effect human kind in 50-200 years period. Good, legal business, the more people buy, the more income you get..I just wish, people were healthy, but it seems that money is the priority, then health, it's hard to find healthy food anymore as everything is somehow unhealthy and all that leads to bad immunity system and flu and etc.
