  1. Just a quick question: are those really free? Or someone made it free by making it available to everyone to download them for free?I think I see few templates that can be found on TemplateMonster. But, I don't have the exact match. Still researching.
  2. Auto upgrade plugin is available from 2.6 and up, I believe. Thank you for your detailed instruction on how to upgrade Wordpress. I'm sure someone can find your post useful Good job.

  4. YES! You know how to eat your ramen! I do enjoy scallions now and then. It gives that extra umph with egg. Okay, okay. Egg is not vegetarian so sorry for hijacking the thread. But all this talk of ramen got me really hungry at this late night. I think I'll head over to the stove and see what king of damage I can do... all I need is some spam ha ha ha. And I didn't know there were special veg/vegan ramen noodles. I'll have to pay closer attention next time at the supermarket.

  6. I don't know which brand, but I read it somewhere that the ramen (the noodle) itself is fried with animal fat (lard) to give an extra flavor. So no matter what you do, ramen is not 100% vegetarian. It's not even kosher.Otherwise, your recipe looks great! I've always loved the soup portion of ramen but lately they were getting way too salty. And it feels like it's getting greasier. This would be a great alternative to using the included sauce packet. You know, there's a book for 101 Ways to eat Macaroni and Cheese. Do you suppose there is 101 ways of making ramen noodle? And guess what? There is.
  7. I guess at this point I am willing to overlook on the exact "amount" of SSD's lifespan. Because, a drive can fail at any moment. Just because it has higher shock proof, I could start throwing my laptop around. It's not likely that I will rough-it only because I can.The hope that SSD dive failure is less likely as the conventional spinning drive is always there. The more expectation I have is the cooler running, faster read and write speed and less consumption of the laptop's battery. Together, they will lead to overall higher performing and longer lasting laptop hours.
  8. Let me share an experience many years back when I was visiting Japan. While I was invited when a company (I cannot name) was opening a brand new facility with the latest technology installed. They featured retina scans for all visitors for identifications. Face recognition for quick track. Finger print and thermo signature to identify and allow access to designated areas. Phone systems followed you even if you leave your office and ring with "special" ring to the phone near by. Hospital built-in in the same building with the latest MRI, CAT scan, virtual surgical environment, you name it they had it.And at the beginning of the opening ceremony I observed the cutting of the ribbon and then smoking of the boar. This was to please the ancient spirits to bless and protect the building and the business. We are at the highest of our technology. The 21st century of modern medicine and computing. We are not traveling to other stars at the speed of warp speed but, never-the-less we are living the science fiction dream. And yet, the company that made so many innovations for the world still practiced ancient old tradition--praying to ancestors for protection. No matter what they have done, the final pull still belonged to the spirits who can make it or break it.It's hard to convince those who believe somethings are supernatural. What I'm talking about is drinking some tea made from leaves and burning candles can actually heal virus infections. I am sure in the past, when our knowledge of medicine wasn't enough, it helped or probably cured many. Which brings me to this point: maybe magic in the past was nothing more than some science experiment(s). It's no secret today if you mix chemical X with chemical Y you get some reaction. In the past that may have been a magic but, today it's science. It takes no magic to run a computer. It's chemical reactions to produce electricity that were stored in a battery format that powered my laptop. And so, to practice magic with the possibility of doing or controlling much more than mere technical gadgets is too far fetched for me. It's going backwards, in my opinion. We are not at the height of our civilization, perhaps not. But we are much advanced than those eras where magic and witchcraft were practiced.
  9. It's as if the citizens of China are already mourning at Google's fate. Their mourning for google.cn's death has brought fourth memorials at Google's logo. Can you imagine long ago a lonely man stood before bunch of tanks blocking their path? Will Google stand before the government of China and be brave like the man? Back then it was a man verses machine. Now, we're faced with ideology verses a government. Will free speech finally win over the old way, old government and force people to rethink about the way we live?
  10. Well, the citizens of China are already holding a memorial at Google's logo. People are mourning as if the deal is already done and Google.cn is dead. It's your move, government of China.
  11. From the Official Google Blog: This comes not voluntarily by Google. After months of tracking and surveillance by 20 huge companies that launched complains against Google. The statement sounds like google is finally taking the stand even if it means Google.cn may be closed down. But what took Google so long? The move certainly is a bold move and something to be commended. Standing up from the evil government. Let the free stay free. But I am disappointed that this move did not come until complaints were launched by other big hands. Looks like Google can be pushed around--if it's big enough force. But, it's a step towards the right direction and it would be hard for Google to just face alone. I hope that other companies will stand up and walk the path Google has chosen to walk alone at this time. The path of least resistance is not always the best path to follow.
  12. SSD (solid state disks) are the craziest thing ever! Not only it will out perform your ordinary hard drive, when combined with a portable device like a laptop, it will extend the operation time. It can keep your laptop cooler and quieter. But, it's always been expensive. And with newer operation systems requiring 1,5,10GB of space, getting a large enough SSD with the price tag that wouldn't cost your arm and a leg would not have been possible. That is until today. Kingston has announced their SSDNow V series with 30GB at a price of $80. I purched a 20GB SSD just over a year ago with more than $300 price tag. Kingston will have rebate promotion when launching in February that even includes Windows 7 TRIM functionality. TRIM function is special to Windows 7. TRIM will cut down the amount of data from needing to be deleted. This increases SSD's lifespan by limiting how many time it needs to write over. TRIM deletes useless data in advance. TRIM can utilize ATA commands to speed up the SSD's writing speed. The SSD's spec shows read speed of 180MB/sec and a write speed of 50MB/sec. The drive is a 2.5-inch form factor and has no moving parts. While 30GB may be smaller than what you are used to. But it will make a nice booting drive for the new Windows 7.
  13. Google finally made a decision today and most would say that it is about time. Google will no longer censor search results on the Chinese version of Google--google.cn. Apparently they are serious about it, even if it ends in the shut down of Google.cn. From the Official Google Blog: The part of Google's motivation comes from recent complaints by at least 20 other big corporations over the weeks. They have uncovered by launching their own attacks on Google and found enough evidences that showed limitations on free speech and evidence gathered by their surveillance. I hope more companies would learn from Google's rise with first and hard decision to take a government's bulling aside, and do what is right for a change.

  16. Will we behave differently if we knew the time of the end? Will we stop everything that's foolish and start living the remaining hours with our loved ones like we always planned? Will we finally put our difference aside: his religion, her religion, your religion and my religion, your skin color, my skin color, your language, my language, your land, my land. And we decided simultaneously call for a peace? Will we realize we had only borrowed time and that we should have spent more time creating goods than destroying? Will knowing the end of the world make all this possible? Or, will knowing the end of the world do nothing and we continue with our current ways?We can't even be the best family member yet we complain about the family. We can't even be the best citizen yet we complain about the town we live in. We can't even be the best government that looks after our own people yet we criticize and wage war on other country. We can't even create the best planet to live on yet we try to go to different planets. So, knowing the end of our days would make all these changes then yes, the world will end by December 21, 2012. And I truly hope that the world ends by then. I am looking forward to it!
  17. Bill W,It is so fortunate that you and your wife did not sign the paperwork or received a copy. The court will be on your side.Ask the billing company (since the 3rd party is only liable for selling and installing) to fax you or send you the copy of this signed paper work. If you do receive it (but most often you don't) examine and see if your signature was forged. And most likely it will be forged or none there because you and your wife did not sign anything. The collection agency will try to push you around. Request for copies of signed document. Without a proof they will get nothing from you. You will have to be strong and put up with their nonsense. Use BBB (The Better Business Bureau) to your advantage. File a complaint immediately. File it both Dish Network and the invoicing company. In the meantime do not send anything back. And you should really consult with an attorney with this one. If you give up your equipment sometimes it can comeback and bite you. Hold it for evidence that installers were there at your place and getting billed for something you did not legally agree to. Gather copies and information as your proof. You will need it.Basically you will need to let the Dish and installation company to try to make goods on their part. But after few attempts you can simply say enough is enough, I gave you many chances to comply with my satisfaction and now I want it gone.Good luck Bill. Let us know how your fight goes. Don't let them push you around!
  18. These three are now the only feed for RSS. To save forum server's resources RSS will be updated every 360 minutes. The next update will be in 5 hours or so. I also have set so that the 20 latest topics are being fed.
  19. These were internet security softwares. They were not testing the ability to block or handle viruses.I don't know about the rest of you but I do not obsess with my computer being hacked by an outsider. It's only because I know that with my computer I don't visit sites that can potentially plant a way in. No visiting bad sites equals no virus, no spyware and no malware. I know that not everyone is in my circumstance. I have a dummy machine which I use to surf into sites that is not trustworthy. I use this machine to download, visit and test various programs and sites. Once I am confident the program I downloaded is free form virus, spyware or malware I then transfer that to my personal computer. For those who cannot have two machines try VMware to run the session for surfing and regular for trusted sites only. Anytime I feel that my VMware session has been compromised, I simply delete the VM image and copy from the backup and start again. Very handy when going to sites that is loaded with ads that just penetrates your security. With my personal computer I only visit very few websites, like Xisto , email application sites and financial sites. Other than those I use the secondary machine. When I'm away from my secondary machine I use VMware. I try not to over protect my computer by loading too many security programs. Knowing where you go, what you install can be just as effective as installing the best internet security program.
  20. AJAX would have been fine. But Javascript is simpler. Either way, it's still client side running script. AJAX is basically javascript (client side running script) plus server side or base script (PHP, ASP, HTML etc).
  21. I am no poet. I simply started to write what came to my head and sounded "okay." I wanted to covey the emotion of keep reaching for the goal. And the goal may change keep reaching for it. People often say, "I'll start that in the New Year" or, "I'll do that tomorrow." I urged everyone, including myself, there's no need to wait for that magical and special day to begin your goal. Keep doing what made you to get here. Continue doing what you do that makes you happy. And reach for that goal today, tomorrow, every day. Yesterday, the year 2009 may have been gone and you may be forced to face tomorrow, it's only in calendar that the new year is here. January 1, 2010 is the same 24 hours as December 31, 2009.
  22. Global Warming leads to global cooling/freezing (note the caps). Because, when the globe warms up the carbon dioxides trapped in glaciers are released when glaciers melt. These excess and abundant CO2 are trapped within the Earth's atmosphere which contributes to Sun's solar ray from escaping to the space. So, in addition to Sun's direct solar ray, Earth now is faced with bounced solar ray. And the cycle continues until the globe is "heated up."At some point, the CO2 will form such a thick layer that Sun's direct solar ray cannot penetrate the atmosphere. And when Sun cannot keep Earth warm and toasty, the globe will start to cool down even faster than warm up. That will be the beginning of the Ice Age, all over again. That is the report(s), anyway. There are those who say Global Warming is a hoax or false. Their two major objections are that the globe has natural cycle system that normally raises and drops to keep the nature in balance. The second is that the instruments which measured data 100 years ago were not sensitive as today's. Which meant that temperatures and figures we are comparing today may be off by +-10%. Therefore, today's temperature could be same as 100 or even 50 years ago. There are those who believe that Global Warming is just a way to balance excess CO2 by trapping it in ice. The way to trap it is quickly freeze the CO2 from the atmosphere, settle it back to Earth and let the nature resume the nature's course. And there are those who believe that Global Warming is the "sign" of something bigger, like armageddon or the end of the world as we know it.It could even be something out of conspiracy theorists' minds to keep the World distracted while the "brains" of power nations do something, rather somethings. However you see the view, if we, as the World, keep polluting our air and not consider what we dump into our oceans we are going to face eating those toxins one way or the other. All in the name of advancements and science we, as the World, have pumped too much crap into our backyards and hope that covering up with soil will make it go away. We need to wake up and think what we are doing. Running a coal burning plant 24 hours to meet that bonus date lead to pollutions that causes cancers to those to breathe. And so on, and so on. It's not that coal burning plant is a bad idea, but bypassing additional safety measures like filter process to save some money. Greed. We're not dying of Global Warming. We're dying because of greed. Global Warming is just a symptom of greed.

I am not sure if they will respond immediately but usually they will guide you through the process. Not that WordPress instruction isn't good enough when you are upgrading, but Xisto - Support can access your account and fix things if you are having a major hard time.
  24. I do worry about the information of this post, but still it is an information. Please do not hold Xisto accountable. The firewall and filters were established for reasons that the official of such institution spent hours and funds. So bypassing the firewall is never good idea always. You never know what you are letting in especially when used by amateurs. But the information should not be made available to only the privileged.
  25. I tried VNC, VPN or remote login but the best solution is using terminal service to control the other machine. But terminal service is only available with expensive add-on or with servers. Windows Vista Home Premium can be hacked to enable terminal service. Folks at Missing Remote has written a comprehensive guide to hack Vista Home Premium to work as terminal service. How to Enable Concurrent Sessions in Vista You can launch the remote session by START > RUN > mstsc Enter the remote IP and password (the remote account's admin password). Once logged in you'll see the exact same desktop environment as you would have installed a monitor, keyboard and mouse to that remote machine. You can control every function, even shutdown, from your remote logon. But you'll need to manually turn it back on. As long as the remote machine is running Vista Home Premium, and the hardware can start without a keyboard you can establish the connection you desire. I am mentioning a keyboard because some BIOS will not let you continue without at least having a keyboard. The remote machine does not need to be logged in to get it start. The remote session will lock down the remote computer when the connection is established, anyway. I sometimes control several Vista Home Premium PCs from my laptop that still uses XP Home. It's really cool how the concept of terminal service works. Good luck.
