  1. Also remember that you can mix HTML (or XML) codes with PHP.For example, <?phpprint "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?>";?> And still name the file as .php
  2. In the past we tried "Reputation" point system. But the forum soon was filled with "if you like my post give me some rep points..." It was just ridiculous. The whole point of posting participation boiled down to earning some rep points.OpaQue got rid of that module when he got fed up with the whole thing. Some members were more focused on rep points than contributing discussions. At the end they were begging by any means--sig, pm, shout, email.IPBoard has auto rank elevation where x number of posts automatically elevates to next group. While I think it would be nice to have mature members who can shine new group name, I would also hope that once they reach their 1000 posts they'll be mature enough not to care about some group they're in--because they gladly participate in our discussion because they love to discuss, not because to achieve extra status. However, we are ever evolving forum. So what is not right today may be right for tomorrow. So don't give up and keep those suggestions coming.
  3. Sections like Life Talk, Real Life Experiences, General Talk, Regional, or Holiday, Festivals, Vacations will be the place for posting such events. Looking at the forum and subforums you'll find just about all necessary sections for everything.
  4. HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! Only you get this kind of info from somewhere and post it. The most efficient and still the super fast computing processor known to man is the brain, which is only operated by less than 100mV.Hydrogen bonds which hold DNA together to form the double helix. This hydrogen bond is one of the weakest bonds known. The same hydrogen bond holds necessary molecules together to form water, a life giving substance. By definition of hydrogen bond nothing can be held together no more than milliseconds. Yet, here we are...
  5. I think this clip is the original http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Apparently this kid is way too hyper to wait for Unreal Tournament to start. He freaks out when he is killed, after all that waiting. Perhaps he and others like him should stay away from sugar and UT...
  6. Zagubadu I believe OpaQue answered your question. What other clarification do you need? How about posting what you're going to host? For example, "can I post a torrent link of ......?" and we can tell you yes or no (if that's how you prefer to be answered).
  7. The last PM was received at Feb 15, 10:02pm GMT -5 my time. Unless you kept a copy for yourself as a reference, I'm afraid it won't do you any good to know when I received it.
  8. How are we doing with the new design? Are we ready to go or are we still tweaking?
  9. OpaQue, I tried to access Xisto - Support.com/billing on Feb 14th and I had the same error message.
  10. I received two PM's from Soviet Rathe, and you're not banned from the shoutbox (as per answering your two PM's).
  11. Some useful PHP commands to strip characters away:strip_tagspreg_replacestr_replaceTry those and see which one suit you the best.
  12. If you are using popular content management systems like Joomla, Wordpress and etc, there are plug-ins for banning popular spamming IP addresses. You can also search for known spammer's IP address and add to your .htaccess. If they are concentrated from one particular location, i.e. czechoslovakia, you can ban the whole country's IP range. However you decide to ban think of the strategy.
  13. Perform a speed test. I like to use this site. https://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ While this test does not reflect the actual speed (because it varies because of other variables) it can give you a good idea where to start. If your speed is slower than what you should be getting, you can try to unplug one device at a time to see which one is causing the problem (although this is not the case mostly). The slow speed can also be contributed by your ISP. Maybe your ISP is upgrading or doing maintenance. Contact your ISP to find out. If your speed comes close to what you should be getting, you have few things to figure out. Is your wireless connection secure? Maybe someone is piggybacking your Wi-Fi signal. Secure it. And perhaps this is common as well: you may have faulty wireless router. Try another brand or same router and see if the problem repeats or goes away.
  14. The secret to stretching the life of a battery is use it until it runs out.In the past, the battery technology wasn't as good as today. And so you had to discharge from time to time to "clear the charging memory."Today's batteries for laptops and netbooks are smarter and they do not need to discharge before charging completely. But, it is still considered consumable item. That means it can be charged x amount of times before requiring to replace it. Everyone knows the fresh new battery which lasted 3 hours only lasts 1 hour after 2 years (give or take few hours and months). Don't worry about plugging in your AC adapter or running out of battery life. Use it like you own it--when the batter is low plug it in, when you want to surf without the cord use it! Know that you will eventually have to replace the battery because it's a consumable item. It will depreciate. I've always used battery and AC because with portable computing products they perform faster when plugged in to AC.
  15. This forum is used by large range of age group(s). Therefore, the Xisto Readme was made in outline, listing style. And to make short and visual cue some wordings were placed as they appear. While not perfect, they imply key notes of the topic you're about to read by following the link.Banned accounts refer to break in TOS and AUP as well as in the forum. Since this forum is for Xisto hosting members if your account is banned or suspended you cannot earn myCENT (then, hosting credits). This results in losing your hosting account when the time for next invoice or payment. If your Xisto hosting account is suspended only Xisto - Web Hosting support can unsuspend your account. This is not due to lack of myCENT or not paying your invoice but simply due to breaking TOS and AUP.If your Xisto - Web Hosting account is suspended or banned this has nothing to do with Xisto, except Xisto forum handles certain parts of Xisto - Web Hosting Questions and Answers. This is because Xisto is very busy and there are good chances that some members of Xisto can answer quickly before Xisto - Web Hosting support team can.A simpler way to see it is if your account is myCENT dependent your activity in Xisto forum matters. If your forum account is suspended or banned, you will not earn myCENT from that point. And since your email is used to synchronize myCENT with Xisto - Support.com/billing, only one account can utilize myCENT earning. And you're suspended or banned from using your forum account, you cannot change your forum registered email address and thus myCENT is no longer useful to anyone. You can continue to pay for your hosting using your fund(s). But not with myCENT.Anything else would be as if you are in Xisto forum as just a member of forum community.Inactivity:From time to time I have closed down inactive account(s). This is to prevent hijacking accounts. Under the ACP (administrator control panel) there are reports of old account being "failed to login, attempts 100 times" are shown from time to time. And some of these accounts are members who had 200+ posts--which we consider at one time very active member. To prevent further abuse I close them down but not delete them. Deleting an account leaves holes in topics which this member have contributed. Here is the reason for leaving some rules open to interpretation:Administrators choose moderators who show good judgments. This does not necessary mean they follow the opinions of administrators down to the T. Everyone thinks differently. And moderators show different rulings in their own ways. While admins set some general rules we also set some strict, specific rules. And it is up to each moderator to perceive those rules according to how they see the issue and situation. This is why selecting moderators are tough. If we have to specify every conceivable and inconceivable situation and list them all, everyone would be subject to some illegal action at some point. And where is the fun when "rules" tie this forum down? And so we set some general guidelines to avoid stifling with board rules. We also set some specific rules to discourage reoccurring bad habits by members. Anything in between are open to discussion.
  16. myCENT calculations includes all the ideas discussed above plus the duration from the activity of the forum. The last credit system gave generous "hosting credits" for people who fell below zero. Or, if you returned from a short break the first post made were given larger hosting credits and then down graded to the normal calculation posts thereafter.I believe OpaQue carried the similar idea with the Credit System V3, myCENT.BBcodes certainly give different myCENT compare to straight out post. And believe it or not spelling matters with myCENT, as it was with hosting credit system. Slangs may not be credited to your myCENT earnings because OpaQue simply hates slangs for SEO reasons.
  17. Please submit your question to Xisto - Support.com/billing for the exact answer. From what I have written, the illegal contents falls for all free web hosting--which is Xisto hosting.Xisto - Web Hosting are paid hosting service. Although Xisto is handled by Xisto - Web Hosting, all paid members are under slight modified TOS and AUP. And Xisto members are considered paid customers, Xisto members are still free web hosting customers due to the credit system. The purpose of myCENT and invoice are for billing purpose only.Anyway, paying customers (not with myCENT) in the past were allowed even adult materials (as long as these adult materials were not subject to copyright). But since the introduction of myCENT I am unsure how Xisto - Web Hosting deals with Xisto account with adult contents. And thus, to get a clear picture please contact the Xisto - Support.com/billing
  18. According to HP site, your printer's driver is already included with Windows 7 (all versions) http://support.hp.com/us-en?openCLC=true Perhaps you're looking too hard?
  19. Gray or Grey... the list goes on and on and on...Although the forum is in English, sometimes it's in Queen's English. And the board is open to those who can communicate in English (either form).OpaQue is using Queen's English and I use the other. Nothing wrong with that except we don't spell the same all the time. In matter of fact, if it wasn't for spell checker I would never spell it right all the time.
  20. PayPal works hard to preserve its image. And now that eBay and PayPal are one in the same company, PayPal will not do anything to anger IRS--your tax collector. If your PayPal account is US based (because you need to verify with checking account) your account is verified as US with US mailing address. So getting paid to your PayPal account hoping to fool InfoLinks or Kontera would be nearly impossible. Because, to register your PayPal as outside of US, first you would need non-US bank account with non-US mailing address. And how would you get non-US bank and mailing address if you are in US? You can see my point in this conundrum. If you are trying to bypass the Tax ID form, don't. It will only hurt you. If you do not want to pay tax on whatever you earn don't use internet based earning structure. Although internet laws may be almost non-existence, all internet money making sites are US tax law compliant. They have to be otherwise they cannot do business in the US "land."If you do not want to give out your Tax ID (your social security number) you can obtain EIN (employer identification number)by submitting a form to IRS. It's free. And you're not risking your own social security number out in the public. Use this EIN for all tax purpose. This EIN can be tied to your DBA (doing business as) so that your income goes to a company rather than personal. This protects you in many ways which would be in a different subject/topic. But, getting LLC, Inc, DBA all can protect you in case of any tax dispute by the state and federal.
  21. Hey, chill you guys.OpaQue might be trying something new. And so it looks bad. Man, these complaints are just getting bigger and bigger... :)So this chat does not work with this forum and you. But I do remember members kept requesting for better shoutbox or chatbox as I recall. Give OpaQue some time to adjust or get a new one. Again, be patient until all kinks are worked out.
  22. There are two things you need to secure: your password and your scripts. No matter how secure you may be, if your password for FTP, cPanel or any management system is weak you will be open to attack/hack/brute force. Do use secure password and stay away from easy ones. Just because you can't remember you should not use simple words. Mix different characters such as $, period, ^, # etc.Second is using scripts that are safe. Whether you are using WordPress, Joomla, simple CMS or your own script, always make sure they are updated and check for any flaws. If you are not strong with programming languages you should always read and research before installing. This leads to another point of password security--let's say you installed WordPress and used some simple password for your WordPress. Obviously you should not do that. Fortunately WordPress has password failure attempt prevention so when wrong passwords were entered x amount of time, it temperately disables long using the same username/IP.It's all about being proactive and anticipating the hacker's move. Always check your status and visiting numbers. Be on the lookout for ways they can obtain your password--like phishing. And in case of WordPress, do not reveal your long name, instead show your nick name so that it's harder to guess your login name.Keeping these simple things, as a start, in mind will eventually help you in securing your website.
  23. According to a search, Joomla has builtin friendly URL setting. Read this article https://www.siteground.com/tutorials/ and see if you can fix your situation. Delete any alteration or modification you have performed and try the suggestion. In case the site does not exist in the future, here is the snapshot
  24. If the external drive worked before but it's not working anymore, there's high probability that your drive might be shot/damaged.But do check to see if you set the master or slave setting properly. Depending on where you connected you should set that and CS (cable select) does not work well with every BIOS.Check to see if you hear your drive click when you start the computer (since you've connected it internally) and check to see if it's spinning. And if you still have not gain any access I believe you're looking at one bricked HDD.
