I installed XAMPP on Windows Vista. The only problem installing was that when the computer would restart the service cannot start on its own. I tried few things to make it run but some how Windows Vista's User Access Control blocks the service from starting automatically. And this is even after marking startup as Administrator. So currently I have disabled UAC and the restart of the machine starts XAMPP without a hitch. There's got to be some step I'm missing...

Add-on domains can have their own email address and login if you were to use Google Apps as the email client. And yes, you can host multiple domains under one hosting account (unlike Xisto, some hosting providers would not allowing of multiple domains to be hosted under one account) but this is up to account owner's choice. Multiple domains hosted under one hosting account would not be any different from hosting by independent hosting account per domain. To a website visitor, he/she cannot tell the difference. To make things easier to manage you can always go with separate hosting account for each of your domain. And there's nothing to forgive It is complicated and complex. A question is better asked than withheld.

Just like any purchase you would make using one credit card, you can purchase any services listed under your billing page and multiple services as long as you have Account Credit Balance to pay for each invoice. There's no limit on purchasing. You can, subsequently, have multiple domains hosted under one hosting account. This is called add-on service. For more about add-on domains, please see the Hosted Members Area for topics in discussion.

Cents, Earnings And Credits Confusing one with another
BuffaloHelp replied to Animator's topic in Web Hosting Support
OpaQue would like to have every free hosting members to have a domain name. But if you choose not to you will not be penalized. But with great offers from new Credit System, it's pretty easy to get your own domain name.OpaQue did not say free web hosting accounts cannot use Xisto's sub-domain name. -
Negative Credits Old topic is closed :(
BuffaloHelp replied to TheDisturbedOne's topic in Web Hosting Support
You're not the only one who are facing with negative myCENTs and Earneds. Even moderators, including myself, have been subject of negative myCENTs and garnishing of our earnings without proper reason or explanation. I have not received any word from OpaQue or even by Xisto - Support. I did not submit a support ticket because in fear of overwhelming the support with trivial issue at the moment. This issue is even after SPAM topic was incorporated to deduct myCENT when moderated. So no words yet officially why this happened again. -

By the looks of it, OpaQue has solved the issue and answered this troubleshoot. And judging by everyone's profile OpaQue also returned myCENTS to those who lost it big.

Always check with Support & Billing. Depending on the duration of your hosting days you may be eligible for a refund if paid in advance, i.e. paid for 1 year's worth of hosting but canceled after 1 month. Your balance of remaining days should be returned to you minus the discount you received for 1 year contract (remember that monthly price for 1 year advance payment is lower than month-to-month rate). Would you get 1 day of hosting back after paying for 1 month of hosting? I don't know. What's $9.00 divided by 30 days? Is it worth getting it back? This and other cases are by case so contact the Support and Billing.

Billing and Support tells me it may take up to 24 hours before it's resolved completely.I'll keep an eye on your progress--not that I can do anything at this point.

Anything is in speculation until OpaQue releases some kind of explanation. Until then your guess is as good as mine.

Is it me or your site take way too long to load? Anyway, nicely presented and all the information is easy to grab with simple navigation system. And I noticed a banner at the bottom. So I clicked and it reminded me one of our previous administrator's "icon." His handle was NilsC and he too is in Connecticut. His site is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Any relations or know of him?

OpaQue pin pointed the trouble we've been experiencing. Or if you have not noticed...Whenever you went to edit the post it inserted unnecessary code and it was a total mess when it came to editing and moderating a post.Well, by losing code we have solve that issue. And the editing is just as well as before the forum upgrade. Perhaps it was a code that was outdated and obsolete with our AJAX editing screen.Anyway, if you have been using code as of this post it has been retired. Please indicate the new line by simply entering a blank space/line.Thank you.

"have You Got A Spare Cigarette" - Faulty Logic
BuffaloHelp replied to kobra500's topic in General Discussion
When I was visiting London I frequently heard, "can I bum a *BLEEP*." I never questioned why the Englishman called it a *BLEEP*. And that was my ex-smoking years.I'm guessing smokers can spare cigarettes because they don't want to smoke alone. And smokers like smoking around other smokers. I know I have. And some smokers will freely offer a cigarettes without even asking, "do you smoke." As if smoking should be a natural behavior. Hey, what do you expect from smokers--they do what they want. And somehow smoking together, hurdled around shielding from gusty wind to light one, builds that instantaneous bond. Asking for a cigarette breaks ice. Giving a light creates trust between two strangers. Oh who knows what other symbolic gesture it does. For all I know they are too cheap to buy themselves a pack of smokes. -
Back in July Pioneer announced that they have achieved perfect, signal loss free among multi-layers in Blue-Ray technology disc. This means that a single Blue-Ray disc can hold up to 400 GB of data. In the past, multi-layered discs were hard to manage due to layers beyond 0 would return with weak signal, or the fact that the receiver was not able to hold onto the weak signal returned. Pioneer achieved the perfect signal return from layer 0 to layer 15 by developing a laser receiver that is sensitive to weak signal even in the noisy environment (in terms of interference) like multiple layers. This figure demonstrates the strength of signal returned by each sample layer. To enhance the sensitivity on the pickup part, the laser fired was also redesigned to spread widely instead of the traditional uni-direction. The disc technology is reported with conflicting reports on the internet. Although there are reports of the new Blue-Ray disc pass the reading with new receptacle there are report of the new 16 layer Blue-Ray disc is also compatible with current Blue-Ray drives. Whatever the current state is, Pioneer only has this new 16 layer as a ROM format only. They are anticipating a writing/rewriting disc around the year 2010~2012. And indications of technology that can hold 1 TB disc by the year 2013.

Everything Disappeared And Switched To Google
BuffaloHelp replied to mrdee's topic in Web Hosting Support
It does tell you where to upload the file with your key. It's your root directory. And when they list your domain name "vlaanderen-flanders.org.uk" followed by slash "/" and a file name "googlehostedservice.html" the file is located at your root of web folder. And the web folder is public_html folder. Remember that when you created an index file, you upload to either www or public_html folder? WWW and public_html are the one in the same? And so where you upload your index file is displayed as "vlaanderen-flanders.org.uk/index.htm" So, if they asked you to upload so that vlaanderen-flanders.org.uk/googlehostedservice.html works properly, it means to place it under your public_html directory. -
Yes, some advertisements are failing to load. This is not our end's problem but it's Kontera's fault. They are not providing ready advertisements. Also remember that when you view your own topic you will NEVER see your own publisher ID's advertisements showing. You could be viewing the forum default or another poster's ads. Kontera also tracks your home IP address. Therefore you cannot even view your ads even as the guest mode (not logging into the forum). So be careful clicking your own ads by going through anonymous websites--Kontera will penalize you. This took me some time to figure it out (poor OpaQue had to endure all my questions ). The results are in and I just made $0.20 in one day through Xisto. Woo Hoo! It's all downhill from here.

Computer Freezing Problem solutions to pc freezing
BuffaloHelp replied to laniczech's topic in Hardware Workshop
Darasen has a good tactic to pin point the problem. Here is my guess. I would say probably the cause of your freezing is your CPU heatsink. After striping your system and left with only the bare essentials and the system still freezes, check the CPU heatsink and CPU fan. If you did no apply the thermo grease properly wipe it clean and start again. The trick is to use just enough to make a firm contact between the CPU die and the heatsink. Secondly, check to see if your CPU fan is enough to cool your CPU speed. After all set and done, double check on CPU core voltage setting either on the mother board or in BIOS. Make sure it's set to your CPU speed. And do not overclock your CPU just yet. Make sure everything is running and then overclock--the same advice Darasen gave (plug one at a time to pin point the cause of freezing). -
