  1. Support contacted and waiting for response.
  2. ComputingHost went through redesigning. It's bit tricky because we're all used to the old layout.Live Support is still available and will not go away. To access the live support, go to:Support link > Live Support Chat (bottom right hand corner) and you will see the Live Chat button.
  3. This is the idea for slow integration phase that we're on. We're not cutting it off until everyone has the chance to familiarize with the new system. Parking a domain is an option if you have had a sub-domain for a while and you later purchased a domain name. It is not, however, what you're suppose to do. What I would suggest is that you tie (change your hosting) to your hosting so that instead of using a sub-domain for your home directory you are using your domain name. This is easier when managing your cpanel with custom scripts. OpaQue would like to see everyone owning some piece of TLD. So he is making it easier for average users like you and I to own a domain or two. What I would recommend is, unless you have key traffic flowing into your sub-domain name, request domain name change and make the official tie of your domain to your hosting. Again, this is optional.
  4. According to United States Board of Education, they state that any one under the education system shall receive discounts on products that are essential to educator/student needs. This includes hardware and software, along with tax breaks on vehicle mileage etc etc.So it's no big news unless you never knew it before. And also the reason Microsoft has STUDENT version of Office *hint hint* The student version not only includes the essential programs for certain needs but when sold in retail stores it offers better value than standard or professional versions. Some education institution can provide at free of charge but some can only offer the direct manufacture discount. This depends on how the institution made an agreement with said particular manufacturer. Majority of State universities will offer either a direct or free software price and high discounted hardware price. Dell will accept student ID as part of discount as long as Dell can prove your eligibility and your school has a discount program. University of Connecticut offers free Symantec antivirus at no charge for all registered students. And in order to provide the campus wide safe computing, anyone connecting to school network must have the latest security updates. If not, it is prompted to upgrade before connecting to school's network. And it is said that this antivirus is free updates for life(?)As an alumni of my university, I receive all MS products at a flat price of $5 each. Any Adobe products at 60% discount rate. Any Dell or Gateway purchases I receive additional 30% discount on top of the sales price. And off topic, as a faculty member of my university I receive other discounts such as hotel, ticket and rental reservations. What lacks in paycheck for being an educator I would like to think that these perks make up for it.
  5. Exactly that is the point. We have many members who had 100+ hosting credits and never really knew what to do with them. So instead of mindlessly giving them away for a contest or awarding it, OpaQue decided to use left overs for the useful and real things--better hosting plans or purchase other services. We knew about the free domains using 250 credits. But this was also impossible with the past hosting credit system. With a little effort you can purchase a domain using myCENT easier than ever. $999 myCENT equals $9.99 Account Credit Balance. How long does it takes you to earn $999 myCENT is up to you. And the best part is that myCENT does not diminish, unlike hosting credits. Xisto shopping cart will treat Account Credit Balance as though it was the real cash.
  6. Sounds like you're going to get hosting first and then domain name? Yes. If you purchase hosting plan on monthly basis, i.e. $11 per month, you will pay hosting monthly. But domain purchase is yearly price only. So you would need to pay $9.99 up front and it's good for 1 whole year. You can choose to register your domain with your hosting. That is, you do not need to PARK your domain with your hosting account (unless you want to--either way it will work just fine). You can submit a request to have your domain name tied to your hosting account whenever you want to.
  7. Usually if your system restart without the "blue" screen, and you did not turn off the debugging error message feature, I believe it's due to hardware over heat.Check your CPU fan and try to see if you can measure the temperature. Either look for clogged venting holes or clogged fan. If you cannot see any visible signs of clog, perhaps the area in which your system sits is too warm or does not circulate air well enough. And there's the possibility of heat sink not making a clean contact with the CPU or the thermo-grease not applied enough, or too much.Touch the surface and see if you feel unusually warm spot(s).CPU, when over heated, it turns itself off to protect the core. If there is a software or a driver (or multiple events) that causes memory leak or unnecessary heavy resource usage it can work CPU very hard. This can cause it to over heat if the cooling fan is also not doing the proper job.
  8. That wasn't the case for me. One of the machines had Windows XP with AVG and the others with Windows XP with Symantec corporate edition. They both were infected and both antivirus programs could not catch it in time. After I was disconnected from the internet AVG shows some sign of healing but after reboot the same warning message popped up and it was cleaning again. So each and every time machines were reboot the virus kept coming back. It was not until I ran SDFix that it picked up the recursive program that spawned the virus. Anyway, for me SDFix worked and have been using other machines to clean them out. But the best cleaner is to make sure your computer is not infected to begin with.
  9. Think of myCENT as earning free money from our forum. When you purchase a hosting plan you can either choose to pay monthly or annually. If you pay monthly, let's say $2.00 a month, you will then pay $2.00 per month and you need to post enough to earn $2.00 a month or $200 myCENT per month. I don't know the rate of your earning but quality posts always produce good amount of myCENT and an average member can easily earn $200 myCENT a month. If you pay the same hosting plan annually, there should be a discount added that you may only pay $22 a year for a free web hosting, no ads. Then each year you would need to have enough myCENT to be deposit to Account Credit Balance or pay the difference with your PayPal or 2CheckOut.
  10. In order for mail{dot}nxdev{dot}com to work, I believe you have to change at your domain name control panel. You have to change your MX records in order to use mail{dot]nxdev{dot}com. Otherwise you have to stick to gamma.xisto.com as your SMTP and POP3 server with proper ports. Sometimes editing your CNAME records can resolve the issue. But the detailed explanation should be from someone who truly knows our hosting situation, OpaQue or vujsa.Since the receiving is determined by your login name, you can use user{at}nxdev{com}. But SMTP goes through xisto's server and thus requires your main login name, which is nxdev{at}nxdev{dot}com. An alternative to trying above methods, you can leave it as default if you registered Xisto with your TLD (top level domain)INCOMING MAIL SERVER : mail.ABC.astahost.com [ where ABC is your subdomain name ]OUTGOING MAIL SERVER : mail.ABC.astahost.com [ where ABC is your subdomain name ]Outgoing PORT : 25Incoming PORT : 110USERNAME : THE-USERNAME-YOU-SET-UP-IN-CPANEL@ABC.astahost.com [ Setup mails in the ADD remove mails in Cpanel ]PASSWORD : [The password that you setup in Cpanel ]Use mail.YOURDOMAIN.com if you have hosted your domain with us.

  15. I'm not brain washed by brand names or product reputation--I purchase what I believe is the best value for my money.Although Black & Decker is a reputable company, I would not go with their cordless drill (is how we say in the majority of United States) because they are not well known for durability, dependability and/or darn strength. When it comes to cordless drills, my first choice would have been DeWalt. But this comes with a heavy price tag. At the time of my purchase what got me the most was Ryobi. They are not the toughest product out there but for the price it was the product for my situation. And in fact it was not too much from Black & Decker at a similar class.Black & Decker was the furthest thing from my mind that day. I felt Black & Decker threw the feeling of "everyday, easy but repetitive house chores kind of stuff" where Ryobi threw "I got me some 18volts of cordless power and I'm going to drill anything in sight." Ha ha ha. All kiddings aside, this would be one of few times I would prefer higher brand name for long lasting service.
  16. It depends on how you are controlling princesstimes.co.cc and how your previous princesstimes.com was set.Did you add-on preciesstimes.com to Xisto hosting? When you registered with princesstimes.co.cc are you using a redirect service or this domain lets you change the nameserver? If so, have you changed nameserver of pricesstimes.co.cc to ns.computinghost, ns2.computinghost?After doing this have you add-on princesstimes.co.cc from your cpanel? On the hindsight, you could have transferred your princesstimes.com domain to Xisto - Support using your Account Credit Balance earned from myCENT :lol:Which reminds me, you still have not registered with Xisto - Support.com/billing Please do so as soon as possible.
  17. The standard in phone wiring color codes are: Line 1 Tip = Green Line 1 Ring = Red Line 2 Tip = Black Line 2 Ring = Yellow (Ah, this brings back the good old memories when I was slaving over as a telephony technician ) With the popularity of twisted pair cabling, the current industry standards are in 568B punch down style. And to terminate Cat 3/5/5E with POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) use the sequence as follows: Line 1 Tip = Green = White/Blue 568B Line 1 Ring = Red = Blue 568B Line 2 Tip = Black = White/Orange 568B Line 2 Ring = Yellow = Orange 568B You can use any color pattern as you would like, but the above is the widely accepted sequence for general telephone techs. The recent surge in VoIP is still your basic 568A or 568B wiring so no big surprises there. By sticking to the standard the next person who has to work on your wiring would not curse you to death
  18. We all have seen, at least heard about, YouTube video of Dell laptop bursting into flames. It was supposedly credited to Sony's bad battery. The video shows at first smoking laptop, busting into flames and putting it out with a fire extinguisher. I never thought it was real--it all looked too staged to me :lol:But it looks like the recall by Sony wasn't over. Sony is recalling additional 35,000 Sony made laptop batteries for the United States market and some 65,000 laptop batteries for all overseas market. This is a huge blow to Sony company especially these harsh economic state. The reason for this recall is that Lithium-ion based batteries are potential to burn hazard. According to Sony, yes from the horse's mouth, there has been about 19 cases reported to over heat, 17 cases reported to have caused fire or started to flame and 10 cases actually casing minor damage--maybe it's to the laptop itself or properties around a laptop.Users who are using Sony made laptop batteries are to check with their manufactures of any recall updates. Laptop manufactures such as HP and Dell are strongly advised to check with their support on which models are being recalled. Toshiba laptops (woo hoo!) are not affected by this recall, according to Toshiba manufacturer.
  19. willielwgg, I understand your enthusiasm but please no bumping :lol:We're are currently discussing the minimum "deposit" using PayPal and why a minimum should be set. Due to the operating cost and merchant fees, if adding funds balance is left up to the donating person it would make undesirable diversion of resources. That is, imagine $1 here and $2 there... for each transaction there will be someone double checking the transaction. Setting a minimum donating amount could limit the "paper work" process. And the overall minimum of $25 was the default choice since it was a nice roundup number. But this is also in discussion, as you suggested, perhaps $15 or $10 is also a nice roundup number.I will give you more update shortly.UPDATEThe official answer is that the current minimum is easier to maintain the accounting by Xisto - Support staff. Currently there's no plan on revising this minimum deposit amount.
  20. Your settings for your domain, FTP, cpanel, email will stay the same. Your site will stay the same and everything the same. The only change is how you maintain free web hosting, no ads account service. In the past, as long as you had positive hosting credits your site functioned. With Credit System V3 as long as you have Account Credit Balance to deduct for the "charge" placed on your invoice, you can maintain free web hosting, no ads account. So it's essentially the same way of maintaining your free web hosting, no ads but with different credit terminology. So what you're saying is the forum email address and Billing and Support account email address are, i.e., someone@somewhere.ext. And this email is receiving a lot of spam and you want to change it? Please submit a support ticket to Xisto - Support via Billing and Support. Subject title Email Change Request for All Xisto, Xisto and Billing. Give your information. Provide forum username for both forums. OpaQue made the change that your forum email cannot be changed by you. You can double check. And he disabled Billing and Support contact email change just for this concern--that members who do change may not have the correct deposits made from Xisto forum to Account Credit Balance in Billing and Support.
  21. Sorry that no one really could have given you a help. But if you have solve the problem, could you take the time and let us know how you did it?
  22. Kubi, you got too much money! A vanity plate that says "McLovin"? Nice, McLovin!! ha ha ha nice touch! So what made you decide to purchase high pony power when gas prices are not the greatest prices to be paying? With the recent falling of gas prices, the evil oil owners are trying to raise the prices again. Is this your dream car? The one thing I have to really criticize you is for not having the standard transmission! How could you do that to this beautiful car? It's a sin, you know that? ha ha ha
  23. You know what's my biggest fear of Google Apps? What if people really started to use Google Apps and soon we're all dependent on Google Apps? And one day Google decides to charge for all the wonderful free things we all so became dependent on. Then what? Imagine the chaos it will create? Either you scramble to find another comparable service or force to pay up.Isn't that what drug dealers are doing? Give the first one for free and once you're hooked they charge it with the full price?PS, I'm not insinuating that Google is a drug dealer nor impersonating that I know how drug dealers operate ha ha ha.
  24. If you purchase just a hosting, and you "tie" to your domain name all incoming email is stored with your hosting space. That 500MB email hosting is separate from your hosting space so that you can store more without worry. But if you need more space for email, let's say to store, archive or receive attachments, you would need a dedicated email space that does not "share" your hosting space. So let's further discuss two scenario of email: domain and sub-domain Domain: You can have whoever@your-domain-name.ext as long as you have email hosting. Since this is an extra purchase with myCENT Credit System, OpaQue suggest using Google Apps with your domain name. Google Apps offers 7GB, and growing, email hosting per account, up to 100+ accounts for FREE. It's a no brainer there. And it's hosted by Google mighty servers you know you can trust Google Apps. Sub-Domain When you use sub-domain, i.e. your-name.trap17{dot}com, you initially get cpanel_username@your-name.trap17{dot}com. You can only access this email using webmail, cpanel etc. This shares disk space with your hosting (since emails are delivered to your account and stored as email based file). If you forget to purge or empty out the trash you soon find out you're running out of space. Not a good thing. Another reason for not recommending shared and sub-domain email is that you need to use, almost always, your cpanel and password information. As a security stand point, not very good when you're using public computers. So you get email without purchasing email hosting. But if you own a domain and purchasing hosting for this domain name, I strongly suggest using google apps as your email hosting.
