  1. room2593,DO NOT REMOVE MODERATOR'S ACTION ON YOUR POST.I have placed QUOTE tags because it's a copy and paste from another site to our forum. Please review our forum rules about copy/paste and plagiarism, even if you wrote it--when you post in our forum and to another site (even on your own site) it's double dipping on our credit system.

  3. I have no idea why Xisto wouldn't let you have a basic online form? If you are referring that Xisto forbids online form because of the spam issue, that's if you wrote a script that can exploit your form and use it to send spam to others than just to you. If you have an online form that gets submitted only to you, there's no limitation. I lost you on this one but let me guess what you are trying to say. Are you asking if you can host Madasafish domain name without doing anything at Madasafish hosting/DNS so that you can use Xisto hosting as PHP, CGI or other server side programming that Madasafish doesn't allow you to run? And you don't what to forfeit Madasafish's domain name by doing this? I don't know if you won't forfeit but you can always use Xisto within iframe. You don't want to redirect because the URL will change. So it won't show as your domain name anymore. So simply write a script that runs and use it in your Madasafish's page by including it as iframe. If Madasafish allows PHP include, you can do that as well (which is better than iframe). Xisto will allow another domain to include via PHP. Although this is not a good practice of web designing you can surely achieve what you want--continue to use Madasafish's domain but utilize Xisto's server side scripts. Here is an experimental HTML code (if PHP include does not work) to include another HTML page from another site in XHTML Strict pages: <!--[if IE]> <object classid="clsid:25336920-03F9-11CF-8FD0-00AA00686F13" data="some.html"> <p>backup content</p> </object> <![endif]--> <!--[if !IE]> <--> <object type="text/html" data="some.html"> <p>backup content</p> </object> <!--> <![endif]--> And on your body tag add: <body style="border:0;overflow:visible">
  4. phpphp, You can always search the internet or the forum. Topic in discussion for Super Speed USB As you can see, this is another reason why topic title and description are VERY important for our forum.
  5. vujsa, I'll reinstate you once you return.

  6. Dooga, I'll reinstate you when you return.

  7. Kubi, I heard you joined "All that you can be." When you come back I'll reinstate you. Carry on.

  8. "the device cannot be stopped right now" is a clear indication that your external drive is in use. So find out what's utilizing it whether you know it or not--as in it can be a background service.Sometimes, Windows will automatically start to index any drives unless you mark it not to index for fast searching. Turn that off. To turn off indexing: 1. Open up "My Computer." 2. Right-click on your hard drive (usually "C:" or the drive you intend like the external USB) and choose "Properties." 3. Uncheck the box at the bottom that reads "Allow Indexing Service to..." 4. Click OK, and files will be removed from memory. This removal may take a few minutes to complete. To disable the indexing service: 1. In the "Start" menu, choose "Run." 2. Type "services.msc" and press Enter. 3. Scroll-down to "Indexing Service" and double-click it. 4. If the service status is "Running", then stop it by pressing the "Stop" button. 5. To make sure this service doesn't run again, under "Startup Type:", choose "Disabled."Windows search will still work if you perform these steps, but it will work more slowly than if indexing was enabled. If you wish to further modify for external hard drive: 1. While in the "Properties" of the hard drive 2. Click on "Hardware" tab. 3. Select the drive of the external device. 4. Click on "Properties" button. 5. Click on "Policies" tab. 6. Select "Optimize for quick removal" and others. Leave "Enable write caching..." checked unless you know what you are doing.
  9. All I can say is, "finally! someone really thought well and hard about what's really wrong with our technology--it's taking too long to just to boot up."
  10. I might have a solution in PHP... I would not write the entire code but I'll explain the logic. I'm assuming you are doing something in the background and retrieves X results from the searches (let's say 20 results). It is better to write a logical loop that will accommodate just about every situation, for example for 10 results, 40 results or just 2 results. So, write a loop that checks for count that is multiples of 5. Which means, every time the result is displayed in multiples of 5, insert "\n" before outputting the next result. So, loosely written, $count = "0";start the loop{ echo 'result'; $count = $count +1; if $count is multiples of 5 { echo '\n'; }continue to loop until all results are shown}I don't know your code to display the results so I'm leaving it as general as is. But I think writing a concise loop to look for multiples of 5 and then inject "\n" would be the best approach.
  11. Check your settings again. Sometimes when a server upgrades something you'll need to double check your settings again, and sometimes delete and enter again.Instead of one email address forwarded, try domain email forward. This will forward all incoming mail to your domain to be forwarded to the designated email address.Try turning on the "catch-all" and see if that helps.I can't say for sure but sometimes Yahoo mail really ticks me off...it's very slow on delivery (one email I tested didn't receive until 2 days later).
  12. Google experiences second glitch this month and this time it's not just gmail or google apps. Google.com has been down for over 1 hour by the time of this posting. The first Google's glitch this month was on September 1st, where Gmail and Google Apps were down over 2 hours. But Google's other services were running without a problem. Even their Apps Status Dashboard was running and indicating only Gmail was down. Google's Apps Status board This time the entire Google is down and their service pages are not loading at all. I have two Google Apps accounts which pays $400 per year ($50 per user x 8 accounts). Even though I received an email the last time Google went down saying that I have free $100 account credits towards Google advertising, this time I am unsure about renewing Google Apps Premiere accounts. If they were free, standard accounts I might be little more patient. But when I'm actually paying whole lot of money to have reliable service rendered and not delivered, I tend to think twice about giving them my money. I only have 8 accounts, what about the enterprises who totally converted to Google Apps and facing this problem? It's every IT guy's nightmare--believe in a service and give the total control over, and find out there's nothing one can do to fix the situation except sit and wait. This is totally frustrating!!
  13. How do that determine the estimated value and does that really quantify justly? If the value is determined by traffic, page rank and popularity I think it's biased. Even though some websites have lower traffic, they can have higher value let's say script hosting and external hostings.Mine is from $100 to $800 or so. And I'm wondering if this would effect me when I got to sell my website next few years...?
  14. Girls, women, females in general change their "taste" of men over time. We hear, "oh I like that bad boy" to "I like a man who I can count on" and "he will make a good husband and a father." They drive men crazy--mentally. It's either this or that...never the same thing. LOL but we can't live without them. What's the perfect way? There is none. Whether she's young or mid-age there's no magic formula in approaching her. She can be perfect for you but you may not be perfect to her.So, be direct. Walk up to her and say, "hi." Say, "hi, I'm (your name) and I was wondering if I can take you to a movie this Saturday?"There are two things going on here--one is that you are showing you are not afraid of her, the whole social asking out, and the first step. Two is that you already have some activity in mind and you are requesting her presence at the time and location. Why is this important? Because, no girl will ever respect you if you say, "well we can do whatever you want" or "I don't know, what do you want to do?"Even those who say "I want a sensitive man..." all feel that they want a man with some plan, some courage and some firmness. A man without a spin is treated like lower than...well you get the idea. You can be firm but be courteous at the same time. Asking her to a movie at 7 this Friday says you have a plan in mind already. And by asking her nicely to go with you is the opposite of Tarzanian (me Tarzan, you Jane, we go now!).There are other tricks and methods which we've all tried one time or the other. But the matter of fact is that being honest is really appealing to all women. "You know I was so nervous the whole time I was walking up to you to ask you out. But I'm glad I did it because now I have the chance to know you better." And if you come across one who does not, well she's just not worth your time. But, there's honesty and there's too much information honesty. Just play slow but be direct. Don't be all psycho and go, "I love you and I want to be with you night and day!" when you've been only dating for 20 minutes Right? Get to know her and let her get to know you.
  15. I was wondering when was I going to use this trivial information... ha ha ha.TigerDirect.com has USB to 56K modem adapter. At a price of $40 ~$50 or so, you can have external modem that uses USB. I saw two models to choose from. And I will not ask why you might need one. Just last month, I had to use COM port and purchased USB to Serial port converter (which cost me $80) because my laptop didn't have a serial port. An alarm software to program access codes required COM port to program. So even though it's long gone technology some programs are still depended on the old communication ways. In fact, I had to purchase external 33.6K modem in conjunction to remote program an alarm system. Who would have thought that I would spend $300 for this out dated, external modem? And only 5 modems were compatible with programming software... Unbelievable!
  16. For those who are using Cutenews (as well as using REGISTER_GLOBALS as part of your PHP script) this is an announcement if you were having some troubles. Our servers are now REGISTER_GLOBALS = OFF. This affects especially for Cutenews users where your login will not permit you to access your administrator's page. In fact no one will be able to log in. This problem is only known in the internet by some and here is the solution. Xisto servers will not have this value turned ON. So the workaround is to edit your htaccess file at the public_html. Simply place php_flag register_globals on and you can continue to use Cutenew or your script that depended on REGISTER_GLOBALS to be ON. That is all
  17. Netbooks are popular and recently one of my guys decided to purchase Dell Experian N270 model to lighten his travel load.Since it came with Windows XP Home edition I figured installing Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Standard edition wouldn't be a problem. I mean after all, I maintain 2003 server all by me little self (ha ha ha...a little humor there).Installing was tricky since I had to transfer its DVD contents to a thumb drive. Dell Experian did not come with an external DVD drive and I thought I don't need one for this installation. So why post about this software installation? Well, it turns out that Dragon Naturally Speaking and Dell Experian are NOT compatible. I searched high and low on the internet and everyone were asking the question but no one can truly answer with an experience. The simple answer is NO. The installation went perfectly. Well, there was an incident where I had to reboot 7 times because some netframe component wasn't installing correctly. But once I got it to install, Dragon Naturally Speaking was running alright. But that's not the end of the story. Dragon Naturally Speaking requires profiling. It will be trained to your voice (profile) so that you can dictate and command only using your voice (that's the coolest thing about this software). My guy wanted to dictate while driving so that he can maximize the time on the road (and no PMs about how dangerous that he should not take his mind off the road etc. I hope that he knows it too). When myself and my guy went to start the profile training, it goes to the "blue screen of death" and gives OA012Afx.sys error. This error may not be the same for all but for those who are getting the blue screen of death here is why: I called up Nuance--company of Dragon Naturally Speaking--and talking to a technician for about 2 hours I came to learn that hardware requirement is impeccable! The tech said the combination of sound card and hard drive might be causing the blue screen of death, leading to memory dump. After gathering my unfound belief, basically he told me there's no fix around it--just get a better laptop/netbook. Sorry folks. If you are here to see there's a workaround this issue there isn't yet. Yup, I even installed the SP1 for DNS. Nothing.Perhaps the program could have been faulty? I installed on 2 other laptops (one is 3 years old Dell, the other is 1 year old Toshiba) and they both ran without an issue. And yes, both were installed from the same thumb drive mentioned before.Talk about a snobbish software, huh?
  18. I signed in as usual. Perhaps you were still effected by the IPS database error we encountered previous hours.I don't have any news or updates from OpaQue except jlhaslip told me it was down for a long time.
  19. Excellent tutorial!Very nice way to recover what you've been missing. A friend of mine did something similar to unused A drive or the floppy drive by using it as browser's cache directory and use it as Page File (PF) for virtual memory as well. But this integration is by far robust usage of all.
  20. I was in search for changing image height according to the table height. I did not want to repeat the image using CSS or any other means (because the image was not designed for repeating--you can tell and it looks bad). And for whatever the reason I wanted to stretch one image according to the table height. And I decided on table instead of div because for this occasion using table was better than div. So, table's height depended on the content I was filling in. Naturally I did not want to have table height fixed to a certain height all the time. Search the web got some answers, including Xisto which was very nice surprise, but it did not exactly do the trick. Let's say that there is a basic table <table> <tr> <td><img src="image/file_name1"></td> <td>(main content)</td> <td><img src="image/file_name2"></td> </tr> </table> We've all used somewhat similar frame for our websites. Basically the images refers to drop-shadow effect build around the main content, or image patters that frames the center box area. What's useful about this situation is that if you set the first TD image height same as the second TD content height, the image without adjusting stretches to fill. And as I started off, maybe the image being stretched is better than repeating as the background image (for one reason or another). So how do you know the content height when the content itself is dynamic--changing height value according to the content and not fixed height? Solution is to find the height of the table as a browser renders the page. A short java script finds this value. <script> <!-- function imgHeight() { var height = document.getElementById('inner').clientHeight - 15; return height; } // --> </script> var height = document.getElementById('inner').clientHeight - 15; where this "- 15" is to offset according to your design. The return value can be tweaked according to your website build. Place the above script before HEAD portion of your page. And call this function like so java script:this.height=imgHeight() *the word is java script in one word--this forum splits into two due to a security protocal Finally, putting them all together you get something like this with additional conditions <table> <tr> <td valign="top"><img src="image/file_name1" width="20" onLoad="java script:this.height=imgHeight()"></td> <td>(main content)</td> <td valign="top"><img src="image/file_name2" width="20" onLoad="java script:this.height=imgHeight()"></td> </tr> </table> As the middle table cell expands and contracts the left and right table cell image will stretch accordingly without any issue. I realize that many of styles can be performed through CSS. And I place "td valign="top" to emphasize that the image should be aligned properly before being stretched to fulfill this effect.
  21. What's the RAM count for your machine? I have the similar setup with 1.5GB and my Firefox is loading pretty quickly (under 5 seconds). When I say loading, the act of clicking on the Firefox icon and the browser ready to go.Try lowering the offline storage if you have a broadband connection (Tools > Options > Advanced). I have mine set at 1MB.Disable those java search and java plugin for the new Firefox (it's that URL/history helper). It's not only annoying, I just don't have the patience for it. (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions > disable Java Quick Starter)I also disabled my DNS client for Windows XP, especially you have been using Spybot or other anti-spyware programs. You may have such a huge HOSTS file that can slowdown the browser bootup time. Now many will argue but I surf the internet without any issue even with DNS client turned off. This DNS client basically resolves your URL to proper address location. It's not necessary if you visit the same pages often. It may become annoying when you type in the correct URL but it shows it cannot find it. I have the fortune of having an ISP providing me with good DNS gateway. So I'm not worried. (Start > Run > services.msc > find DNS client and disable).
  22. I can be way off here but I thought Wordpress was "like" a CMS. Blogs or CMS they tend to lose and commingle with one another by the way a user utilizes it. I've been mainly using Cutenews just because it was easier to mod or hack them they way I want. But more powerful CMS would be Joomla which offers breadcrumb and mod_rewrites. Very nice. I started to use it and then I found out it was bit over my head. I like to have control over every part of the code and Joomla wasn't easy as I'd hoped.
  23. Oh, my good old buddy Tandy! ha ha ha.I started my computer/gaming days with Tandy 1000 (god bless 2bit sound card...). Formatting 5-1/4 diskette took nearly 15 minutes of wholesome 360KB fun! I used to carry the "emergency" DOS diskette and once revived the whole computer lab. Ah... the good times ha ha ha
  24. You sound like an old fashioned programmer. While I was taking Modular (useless code I spent 3 years of my life) my professor said the same thing: minimize the memory buffer. But I think that's yesterday's issue. Today's servers are much more powerful that it can handle floating points here and there. And with new technologies updating CPUs by the seconds and miracles of burst RAM, maximizing the bus is not that critical. But this also leads to dirty coding...I know (I'm so guilty of it).The overall performance would be up to the length of the $text parsed. If you'd like to know how bbcode is parsed, look at the source of this forum IP.Board, vBulletin and phpbb. They all utilize bbcodes. Another forum called AEF is completely free open source forum script. They will give you better insight.
