  1. That's a neat little tool. For those who don't want to use a tool like that, you can also go to Run -> msconfig, and in there you can see what all is running at startup, disable/enable things, etc.
  2. This is a hard one to hit on. While what you're saying is probably true in some respects, there are a lot of them that they lose money on. Especially when they do the $0.00 costs with the contracts. Some of them you have to pay for they definitely lose money on up-front as well, being that they have to put money towards not only that phone, but also to development and other things for new features and upgrades. Keep in mind you can always get a "prepaid" plan and never have to worry about being locked into any type of contract.
  3. Almost any type of drink has caffeine. It's a lot like c4l said though, it's not about the fact you drink it, it's how MUCH you drink. Anything in massive excess is going to be bad, regardless of how neutral or "good" it was prior.
  4. The difference here is that when you bring bears into the equation, you're talking about very different primal instincts. Sharks are like most animals; they eat when they're hungry. Alligators and crocodiles as well. Bears, on the other hand, maim to kill, with no apparent purpose other than that. They don't eat humans (I don't think). They just enjoy the sport. So while sharks aren't something to really worry about, bears most definitely are.

They usually declare anything as unusual if it's out of the norm. Ex. if you're always buying stuff in one area and then magically a charge comes up from someplace very far from your norm. This also happens when you don't spend much and then do a major purchase, or other things. Basically the system tries to pick up on anything abnormal (at least is my understanding).
  6. Oddly enough, there's been a lot of studies that seem to show that social media does not really influence the buying decision of people. I think it's the opposite (I mean, if someone you know has a good review of something, I'd think you would be more inclined to get it as well) but that's what people say.
  7. I wasn't even thinking about the upgrading of the OS with my post; that's a good point. Luckily though, with the ability to upgrade the OS through the device itself, there's no need for iTunes again.
  8. Apps are also a great way to tie things together with your site. With how many people use their phones to go online now, creating custom apps for your site can help keep and drive traffic. One of these days I need to get involved with it. Just been so busy with my other projects that I haven't gotten the chance to delve into it yet!

Sounds like you've had some bad luck all-around! And the credit card situation, while it's annoying, is there for your benefit. I got annoyed on a trip I went on because I tried to use my credit card for something and I was told it was declined. Called my credit card company and they said they blocked the account since it was being used across the country from where I live. I was able to unblock it within a couple minutes. And while it was annoying, it was also relaxing to know they had me protected automatically.
  10. While I think that would be a cool idea, I think the reason behind not allowing it is people would possibly try to sell their mycents for cash or something. Though I think it'd be awesome to offer up a sort of bounty for help and stuff (ex. "help with this script -- I'll give $5.50 in mycents").
  11. Hey, welcome to the site! Hopefully you stick around and become part of our community/family. There's a lot to learn here, as well as a lot to teach, but you have to be willing to participate to benefit, .
  12. I really don't even remember my first mobile. I do remember that it had a keyboard (like opened up to one) but that's about all. That was a long, long time ago! I use an iPhone 3G now.
  13. Hey, thanks for explaining what the regular expressions are. But I think it'd be more helpful to give a small tutorial/explanation on how to actually use them. For example, I know what they are but have no idea how to create them on my own.
  14. This is true. The tough part is utilizing it properly though. Just because you're sending out emails to people doesn't mean that they are reading them, and especially doesn't mean they are taking action. So while it's helpful, it can also be useless, unless you're doing it "right."
  15. You forgot one of the most important things, which is to be aware of taxes as well. This should be one of the top priorities, as (at least in the US) you can lose your business if you aren't on top of it.
  16. Ah, yes, guest posting is beneficial all-around as well, I completely agree. It gives the website owner the free content, and allows you to get your name/site out there a bit.
  17. Thanks for the interest! I'll try to get some information to you as soon as possible. I'm working on finishing up the skeleton design so it can go from there.
  18. Hey, it was good, . Thanks for it, and more tutorials are always welcome. They also benefit the writer in that you help yourself remember things a lot better by teaching others.
  19. My last update was yesterday and I got $1.40 or so (a dollar was moved to my hosting account). Seems to be working fine from my end. Are you sure the mycent update emails aren't in your spam?
  20. While I do think there is life on other planets somewhere, I don't think Mars is where it'll be found at. Just seems a bit too close to us. My own belief is that we're probably the only planet up to Pluto (which is now a "star?") that has life, but I think in other solar systems there is life somewhere. Could always be wrong as well, I just don't see Mars as being a habitable place, unless there are beings adapted to the conditions there.
  21. Hey, welcome to the site! There's definitely a lot to learn here with regards to various Internet-related topics, as well as offline ones as well. Hope you enjoy your time here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask, .
  22. Actually, iTunes isn't a requirement for using iPhones or iPods. There are other programs that are open-source that can sync with them as well. I can't think of the names off the top of my head but I used to run *nix only OS's (before gaming), and iTunes wasn't available so I had to go searching for alternatives. I really don't like iTunes either!
  23. I agree with his idea. To help you out, the variables you'll need are HTTP_USER_AGENT and HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE. Those will give you information not only on the language of the browser, but also the client itself (which allows you to account for mobile vs. desktop and whatnot as well).
  24. I prefer Javascript because a lot of people don't have Flash (for example, mobile clients using iOS). Along with this, I think JS has a much smaller footprint all-around than Flash since you can use a small script instead of an app.
  25. Hey, if you want to let us know some more about you, you can create an introduction thread as well. It'll help us better understand what you're looking for and what your interests are. And welcome!
