Hi there, and welcome to the community! Hope you'll come back often to the forums. Love the sig, by the way. (I currently live in Japan, as you can see on the left)

Hi, just checked out the site. Pretty good use of Flash, I must say. Like the colour scheme and it looks very simple! Not everyone may say so, but I think it's a good design. Keep up the good work!

Last weekend, the ftp server timed out several times when I tried to upload some files. Apart from that, I haven't had any major problems. I think just about any hosting service (paid or free) will have some days where the connection breaks off. After all, it's all kept on servers and at some point the servers will require maintenance.

I'll throw in another vote for Dreamweaver. I have the Macromedia Studio MX (2002 Version). Although it may not have the new features that the latest one has, I'm still quite happy with what it can do. The Extension Manager also helps combine the other Macromedia elements (Fireworks, Freehand, Flash, ColdFusion) without a glitch.

I frequently use both Gmail and Yahoo mail. I switched to these from Lycos Mail (only 5 MB and tons of popup ads). I really love Gmail, but I can't access it from my workplace...hence I use my Yahoo account for when I'm at work. Of course, if I to choose which one I'd use as my regular e-mail address, I'd go with Gmail only. The reasons...great interface, very fast and lots of space - in fact, more space than I'd know what to do with.

Can't think of single song offhand, but...In Canada, I've been told at one time or another that Rush (a band from Toronto, Canada) is often dubbed as a "thinking person"'s band. I find that whenever I listen to their music I pay attention to the lyrics more than anything else because none (or very few of) their songs are love songs. Apart from that, Trent Reznor (aka Nine Inch Nails) and Crash Test Dummies are known to put out thought-provoking music, too.

For casual wear, my black Reeboks and/or my black and purple New Balance running shoes do me nicely. As for more formal occasions, my pair of Spoiler City shoes (bought in Canada) has lasted for more than 5 years - and they still look great!

Gallery For Community Site which one do you suggest?
shigajet replied to badinfluence's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Although 4Images and Gallery are pretty good, Coppermine is the most widely used...plus you can find a lot of different skins - for both phpbb and Coppermine! Not sure about space limitations on Coppermine, though. As far as I know, there shouldn't be any. -
Well, I don't have a single favourite website. I could list a few good personal websites, though - ArtLung - His site may not be for everyone, but he's got a lot to show in his archives, portfolio. He could be the "blogger king" of Southern California. Yongfook.com - This is the newly revamped personal website of a former JET teacher living in Japan. Lots of the sledgehammer wit here. Funny stuff. Now includes user sketches! Engrish.com - Great site to check out for some funny English.

Again, it's not bad considering you built it in less than two days, but there's always room for improvement. Some bits are a bit distracting...and there are too many popups (although that's because of the host).

I second ACE FTP freeware, although if FTP Commander is nice if you want a simple FTP application. As well, I heard a lot of good things about Filezilla and I'm thinking up switching to it soon. Any testimonials out there?

Well, where should I start? Within Canada, I haven't much outside of Quebec and Ontario except Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Changed fights at Vancouver once, but that doesn't really count. In the U.S., I traveled to New York, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Vermont, Maine, Massachusets, Ohio, Missouri, Oklahoma and Florida.Ouside of Canada and the U.S., I went to England, Thailand, Indonesia (Bali), Korea and Japan (where I live now).Places I want to go include...New Zealand, Australia, France, Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Holland....(still lots of places to visit, as you can see)

Hi there Ryan, and welcome aboard! I think you've made a great choice in going with Xisto. There are lots of great people and it's got a great webhosting service to boot! Posting to the forums is not hard at all. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of topics that are available, and it seems that there is always a topic/post that catches your interest...and you can always start up a new topic, too! Anyway, hope you enjoy your stay and I'll see you around on the boards!

Computer Would Not Boot Cant be specific on this subject sorry
shigajet replied to C2C's topic in Hardware Workshop
The same thing happened to my "old clunker" laptop (running Windows ME) earlier this year. Every time I tried to boot it up, it kept going to the scan disk and restarted the scan endlessly until I became fed up and turned off the machine. Luckily, I didn't a whole lot of software to re-install, so I formatted the computer and began anew. Doesn' t seem to have any problems now. -
Can The Warn Level Been Increase Or Removed?
shigajet replied to guangdian's topic in General Discussion
Er well, as I've only been around for just over a month, I haven't been warned yet...but the meter's there so I guess I have to watch what I say/type. -
Vending machines in Japan have some problems, too. Overall I've only had a few difficulties with them. The most common one is when the machine refuses to accept old (and sometimes new) coins/bills. It doesn't "eat" my money per se. It either spits out the bill or the coins go right through to the change slot. Either way I still don't get my drink.

Looks pretty good, so far. Your choice of template suits the name of the site. Interesting that you give viewers a choice to enter the main site or the forums. Great job, Shadow!
