  1. The thing is, can Winamp able to stream RealMedia files online?I know many realmedia codecs alternatives so we can all play realmedia files using other players, by the fact of not using RealPlayer itself. But there isn't any alternatives to streaming online realmedia files that I know of..Does anyone know of any...?
  2. SphereXP on the second link is good, or rather the best I can find and know of for Windows XP already. It requires the least memory among the others, however it still takes up quite some.3rd-party of such is definately giving those clumsy effects. They can never produce a 100% natural and smooth animations and transitions because they are actually running on top of the current Windows Explorer. Hence actually both windows explorer and the 3D file managers are running at the same time. Priority is always given to windows explorer by default. So the clumsy effects of the 3D file managers will stay. It's just how much clumsy can it gets. I think SphereXP is great itself for being a free one. Though not totally bug-free, it's resonably good for use.So give it a try.. You will like it..
  3. I've tried downloading the latest RealPlayer from http://www.real.com/de. The latest player, version 10.5, now must be purchased online before being allowed to be downloaded. However it stated that the free version of RealPlayer will become active if you decided to cancel the contract with Real Networks after the 14 day trial period. Hence, you have no choice but to key in your credit card number and personal details before you have access to the download. There are no other ways or alternatives to download RealPlayer for free now.So I've searched Download.com for an older version of RealPlayer. But I didn't realise that the user of RealPlayer is required to sign in, just like Instant Messenger, to be able to play online media. However, I've tried streaming a video and RealPlayer directed me to the purchase website, preventing me from playing any media. Furthermore, it has full of advertisements and kept prompting me back to the purchase website. It somewhat resembles Kazaa which contains spyware.Does anyone knows of an alternative to RealPlayer streaming function? I only know Real Alternative codecs that plays RealMedia files but it cannot stream online media. I gave up on using the original RealPlayer already.
  4. Ok but this mouse gonna take quite some time to get used. It's pretty cool and sleek for its design definately. I retains the Mac look which is really cool..Any ideas where will they be on sale?
  5. Wow.. This is so cool! I knew such ideas came from Java desktop made for Linux operating systems. It's called the Project Looking Glass. https://www.oracle.com/sun/index.html It's website here : https://www.oracle.com/sun/index.html A video demo : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ [save Target As] A windows similar alternative so far I came across was SphereXP.. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Website : http://www.hamar.sk/sphere/ Now this is sure gonna rock some of us.. Notice from BuffaloHELP: Edited second picture as a link. Remember, maximum width of posting image should be no wider than 480.
  6. Ok.. The test account I've set up from 5gigs.com looks bad.Firstly, the activation link which supposed to send to my email after I've completed my subscription form took more than 30 minutes. It certainly gave a bad impression that their servers are slow in handling tasks.Secondly, another activation link is said to be sent again after clicking the first one. So another time I've got to wait again. This time the activation link brings to an invalid page.. Totally crappy, isn't it..?So that's it for 5gigs.com.. Say goodbye to it and stay with Xisto.com
  7. That interface you've got was an old version of firefox. The new version has a shortcut to it : Just click and it will remove every private stuffs from its cache..
  8. It depends on the user's preferences.. For me, I prefer Linspire because it resembles well to Windows interface. It's also much sleekier for a Linux GUI as well.. Linspire includes a wizard-like installation procedure just like Windows, so you wouldn't have to type in commands to install a product like other Linux distributions..
  9. Haha.. Talkin about this.. I've seen a new car brand that uses a card to start the car engine instead of a conventional car key. What's even more special about the card is that it stores the car owner's identifications in case of car lost and also works as a master remote control to lock the car doors, activate the radios and air conditional systems, hazard lights, internal lights, alarms etc even from outside the car. It's very cool! The screen wipers even automatically clear the screen once it detects water droplets on it..Pity, I've forgotten the brand of the car or else I can do a search and post their web links here. The brand is pretty new, something I've never heard of before. This car model definately includes a new integrated computing system, a new age robotic vehicle.
  10. Try reinstalling Windows Media Player and Directx.. If there's any available software for the GeForce graphics card, whether or not if its just the drivers, install them all. I know one of them must definately be a control panel for your graphics configuration after you installed that software. I believe it will solve this problem.. Otherwise, read the documents that came with your graphics card..
  11. Well I think Dell has made such improvements to become one of the most powerful machine makers, there will definately be buyers for such high specifications, whether or not it's 4gb RAM or 500gb harddisk. People working in NASA probably find such machines useful for speedy calculations. The movie makers in Hollywood also will thank Dell for such products.Anyway I've read an article sometime ago that the animated movie, Toys, made used of 2tb (terabytes) of harddisk space to store the entire movie. That doesn't include the softwares and tools that made the movie.. So why not? Dell will still grow, definately..!
  12. None of the choices are are my type.. I've got a sleek Windows Vista skin makeover.. and so I've got a sleek vista wallpaper for my desktop as well.. Looks good, cool to the eyes, and doesn't seemed messy for a background picture..
  13. The program is kinda limited for picture editing. Probably good for small thumbnail style or avatars or maybe a customised photo of your girlfriend in your wallet :)Anyway, it will be better if your tutorial comes with screenshots because not many people has tried this program before. Step by step guide will definately help more..
  14. No wait.. 5gig.com is giving out free domain hosting also? If the entire hosting plan is free without forced ads and forum postings, then it's somewhat looks better for those who dislike forum postings everytime to keep their webhost alive. Furthermore, it had free domain hosting according to 5gigs.com. I'm not sure about it. I've signed up a test account at 5gigs.com to test if the quality of service and if the free domain hosting is true. I'm waiting for it's activation link to be sent to my email.I'm not saying I'll move hosting service or whatsoever. I'm just wanna try this host to see if its true about what they advertised. Why not, its free.. And no harm testing another webhost to see its quality.
  15. Why not? Here's the prove.. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Coming right soon to your desks..
  16. That Norton Antivirus 2005 Special Edition (Antivirus utility) and Ad-Aware SE Personal (Antispyware utility) are real or just advertisments, or trial type software where u must click to purchase for full version?I can't really believe what I saw.. Giving them out for free?
  17. Erm, I don't think VMware player reads the normal ISO files.. Rather it reads VMware's images so you got to convert the iso files into vmware images somehow. If you downloaded the Linux distributions as ISO files, you cannot run them directly because you will need to install Linux from the ISO files first, then copy out the installed partition into vmware images..
  18. I used to collect stamps and phonecards when I was a kid.. Thanks to the introduction of computers to my life, I now collect freewares that does great things.. Some on my list are Firefox, Google Earth, Skype etc. There are many more which may not be so common to the rest of us.. Also, I collect Operating Systems.. Yes I do.. I have a collection of them since Windows 95 till now Windows XP. I also had some Linux operating systems.. Ok enough of software collections.. How about something touchable? Magazines are also part of my collections.. My cupboard is fulled filled with magazines.. I guess I've never read them all but seeing them nicely packed and arranged inside my cupboard made me feel so nice..And lastly, I collect digimons.. Those digital monsters where u can feed them everyday and bring them into battles with your friend's digimons. I've collected afew versions but I've stopped collecting as its trend has stopped.. They are becoming antiques now.
  19. I guess Internet Explorer uses much more memory when Firefox and Opera.. As the current IE don't use tabs, the sum of memory used in multiple windows can be even more than the money Firefox and Opera use..Additional point : Opera includes RSS reader too, Firefox doesn't have this feature..
  20. Fortunately, there's a freeware alternative to this.. https://sourceforge.net/projects/camstudio/
  21. Firstly, try using CDRoller or UDF-Reader to see if your data is retrivable. Trial : http://www.cdroller.com/htm/udfread.html Free : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ If you can't then I guess the disc simply contains bad data. It means either the format you set for the CD-writing software wrongly, or an accident extra bit that may be written into the disc causing all the data in it to corrupt. This can occur when the cd burner drive is shakened while burning, or you have excessive loads of software running on the computer that takes up memory such that it affects the data transfer from your computer harddisk to the buffer then to the writable disc. This however seldom happen in todays drives as they are mostly shockproof now. I had afew times experienced such afew years ago when CDR drives were still new. Regarding about the format in ISO/UDF, I've found some articles that might be useful for your reference.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Disk_Format http://forums.xisto.com/topic/22352-including-php-made-images-in-a-page/?t=22352 If you still cannot retrieve your data, just simply format the disc and rewrite the data again. Unfortunately for you if you only have this copy of data.
  22. Besides cPanel, there are other alternatives include Absolute Control Panel XE and InsPanel. Absolute Control Panel XE http://www.xigla.com/absolutecp/ InsPanel /cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi
  23. You can check out this site for it's requirements and other stuffs http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  24. jlhaslip had gave a very detailed post. But do remember that a harddisk can be damaged naturally due to wear and tear after a few years. Although harddisk is the most preferred storage device in most backup storages that we'll need, they will still depreciate and slowly give problems due to the fact that they are machanical drives. Among all storage alternatives, I would think DVDs are most likely not ideal for backups because they take a long time to write. And every data in it needs to be re-writtened again if new data is to be stored in a DVD-RW disc in order to save space and store as much as possible without using byte headers. It also takes up alot of time in writing and re-writing data into a DVD disc.Furthermore, the standards of DVDs are always fluctuating. What you write in your DVD now might not be readable in a few years later.
  25. Some .wmf files indeed contain virus inside their bytecodes. But the exploit in .wmf format is more than just capable of storing viruses inside them. It's an exploit that cannot be fixed. So virus writers now know of this exploit, and certainly uses them to intrude your data. If that's the case, and since this exploit cannot be solved, it will be undetectable by firewalls and antivirus softwares. Probably that ones that you had encountered were indeed natural virus files that were not based on that exploit. It will be even more damaging with its based on the exploit.
