  1. I've played Civilization III. I love this game. It's like the real world, you need to take care of everything from relationships with neighboring nations to civil order in your own country or empire if you have grown. Are there new versions of this game? I haven't played it for a while.
  2. Thanks for these info. Once my site is active, I'll use these quick guide. One question, though. I'm not that familiar with how robots.txt works. I know that you put it on the site to guide how crawlers index your website. How do we optimized the robots.txt to ensure optimum indexing? (What pages don't need to be indexed?)And how do we code the robots.txt to do this? (I've used Googles robots.txt generator for my old sites.)
  3. I know someone who uses a software name KaraFun. I'm not sure how he uses it but I know it has something to do with making karaoke songs/mp3.
  4. Have you guys heard of the M-theory, also referred to as the Theory of Everything. The theory suggests the existence of a multiverse. Instead of a universe confined in a bubble, it suggests the existence of an infinite number of membranes near each other. Our universe is on one of these membranes. There's a youtube presentation about this theory's inception from String Theory. Applying the membrane-like system, when two membranes collide, a universe is created. All the particles from electrons to galaxies, are nothing but ripples on the membrane. And these collision between membranes may be so common that it constantly creates new universes. I have problems with this paragraph. A universe will never be created without the use of energy. As shown by Einstein's famous equation E = mc2. Gravitational energy is some million times weaker than the nuclear and electrostatic energy. If I understand the statement correctly, by energy content of matter you may be referring to either or both the nuclear and electrostatic energies. With how they cancel each other...how positive is this energy content of matter and how negative is the gravitational energy that they cancel each other? Each of these universe will have its own Laws of Physics. And if life (intelligent or not) exists on any of these universes, it will either be completely different from us or very similar to us. A Pandora-like civilization might even exist in any of these universes. There are no restriction. HAHAHA! Good one!
  5. I've read a lot about Nepal. I would love to visit your country if I have the money. For now, work work work..and play..
  6. Worst 2009 Movie: Jennifer's bodyYeah. She's really pretty but what the hell happened with this movie. It's all just crap and more crap. She's still sexy though!
  7. It isn't racist if it's true. And as a science man, I don't believe that science is racist. Science is a systematized knowledge base on fact and observation. Whatever comes out to be the fact (based on a founded methodology), then is true. So if study shows that some race has more intelligence compared to some, then it's true. What we can question, though, is how the fact was gathered. As for racism...we're in the era where everyone can be connected so maybe many years from now, it won't be a huge issue. Unless there's an alien invasion. A new racism will be born. But that's more District 9. (It can't be helped. Xisto members love the idea of an alien invasion...based on the threads I've read so far..)
  8. Evolution (all organisms) will never cease. It's a constant process. Everything will constantly change towards perfection. Of course perfection is never achievable so it will always change. And evolution is not limited to the organism, it may also be applied to the tools that organism uses. For those who are old enough to have tried using the typewriter, how different was it then compared to using the computer? And with globalization, interracial marriage is now ever so active. So we expect more diversity of the human species. Useful Asian traits added to Caucasians and all. So I believe Evolution will never stop. It might slow down for some time, but there will always be outside stimulus that will pressure a species (human or not) to change for the better. (What better means will depend on how you look at things.)
  9. Hmm. I read science books (physics and chem), to keep up with new things..not really fond of it, it's just work-related. I love reading history books and those books that teaches you how think effectively. Of the books that aren't novel or fiction, I'd say the best would be books about archeology and history (old civilizations, mysteries, etc.)..
  10. The current number of forums/threads works for me...I only post on sections I understand and where I can say something with confident..So..I think there's no need to remove some of the sections..:}
  11. Yes I did have a farmville account. It was fun at the start, planting and all those but it got really weird when people started making weird designs with the plants/flowers/etc..So I stopped. And girls dig it, too. hahaha
  12. My first MMORPG is Ragnarok and this was about 6-7years ago. It was a revolution back then in the Philippines where people are used to playing LAN games like CS, Diablo and Starcraft. (I know there are internet versions of these games but the fastest Internet Speed we had was like 512 Kbps. Not that fast, I know.) I was in college during those years and the golden age of the 2nd wave of animes making Ragnarok's cutie characters adorable. I started out with an Assassin character, then changed to a Blacksmith. I flunked my Calculus, which I had to retake. I barely attend classes and all those crazy stuffs kids do when they're addicted to these type of games. Me and my ragnarok buddies barely eat lunch and focused more on the characters. Those were the heydays of Pinoy online gaming. If you ever visit philippines, you won't meet a gamer (around the age of 20 and above) that hasn't played Ragnarok. What got me to stop from playing? Well. I have a college scholarship that needs tending, I was forced to study and all. And when the new 3d and more realistic games like MU Online and RF Online came, Ragnarok started to become a joke. To this day, there are still hardcore Ragnarok players out there. Most of there characters, though, leveled through the use of Bots. Of course you get banned by using bots but that was before, the Game Masters are now lenient to keep people from playing the games. Sometimes when i log into the game, there are around 3K+ people. And 2 years ago, when Valkyrie Server was opened, we got around 10K or so people playing. Anyway, I'm now playing SouthEast Asia's version of 2Moons, Dekaron. It's a great game but I play it on weekends or after work to lessen stress and it's working for me. No more winning and PKing like before just plain fun with the game.
  13. The last book I read was Karl ALbrecht's Brain Power
  14. Ohh. Let me research on that. Have you tried it? I will.. currently looking and will update in a week or so..
  15. Hi Gil! Welcome to Xisto! The people here are very diverse and you might just bump into one of your neighbors here. Welcome and enjoy!
  16. What? I didn't know that. Cool news. I wouldn't be surprised if some years from now, even Television sets or even my digital watch will run in Linux or a really simple version of it. It's almost FREE so dollars could be spent with hardware RND and more..
  17. I prefer using Linksys routers but not all of them, just the WRT54G Versions 1-4. If you are to buy a Linksys router, never the Versions 5 and above, for some reasons they changed the core of the router's firmware that caused it to constantly crash. As for the WRT54G versions 1-4, they're running on Linux and there are groups that provides tweaked versions of the firmware that allows awesome functionalities. DDWRT is one of them. These tweaked firmware allows the router to act like a wireless repeater, increase functionalities and better network management. Downside, you lose the 1 year limited warranty. But who cares about the warranty? There are new cool routers that Linksys offers, like the Draft-N Routers, WRT300N, WRT310N and anything with "N" in them. They're really amazing when it comes to speed but you need to invest with having a wireless-N network adapter to maximize the speed offered by these Draft-N routers. Can't wait for the actual N routers to be released.
  18. I'm not familiar with what functionalities are available in your router but I've worked with many routers of different brand so I have some ideas. (And it's a really late reply.)Isn't your router set up this way: ISP------>ROUTER-------------->COMPUTER(S)If it isn't, try setting it up that way. From what I understand of your description of the current setup, the computer comes first before the router. Home & Home Office routers comes with a DHCP Server so it should be able to provide the IP Addresses to any of the computers that will be connected to it. Just make sure that the computers are set to obtain their IP Addresses automatically. As for your WAN (ISP) Settings of your router, that would depend on what type of connection you have. If you have been provided with a static IP Address, you need to access your router's Set-up Page and manually enter the IP Information provided to you by your ISP. However, if you have an automatic connection, just set up your network as I presented above and perform a power cycle. Turn off everything and turn them back on starting with the modem, then the router and the computers connected to the router. But then again, it's a really late reply. I hope everything's working now.
  19. The design of your website is great. Not too flashy yet not too simple to bore. You also made a good integration (corect me if I'm wrong) of the vBulleting with your template which makes it less obvious. Every bit of it seems to be well-though out. There's just one though. The google ad you placed in the footer is distracting. It might be your way to direct the eye to the ads, I don't know. But for me, it destroys your beautiful design. That's just what I think though..
  20. Hi Kuskus. Welcome to Trap 17. It's a multi-culture forums so no need to worry about your English. Again, welcome to Trap 17 and enjoy your stay.
  21. I remember seeing Dr. Michio Kaku, co-founder of String Theory, that there has already been teleportation researches just for quantum particles, electrons, photons and such. Here's how Charles Bennett describes a teleportation machine:
  22. What a great discussion. Death means life. Without death how will we know we're alive. Different religions/beliefs offers different explanations of our current life and what lay beyond it. That's the beauty of it. And it's great to hear people talking about death and accepting each other's point of view. Well, we're going to die someday. So we just got to make the most of what we have today.
  23. Congratulations on losing that much weight in 4 months. It must have been real tough and I can't imagine counting calories of food that I eat. Am skinny, not really skinny. I guess the same program goes for skinny guys like me who wants to gain weight. Count the calories and follow the program you have set for yourself.
  24. There's no shortcut to earning money online..it takes a lot of work and patience. my earnings comes from payperpost.com. Submit your website and wait for some advertiser to invite you to make a post with a link to them. this works for my personal blog and I'm earning just enough to cover the cost of the hosting and some snacks. Not bad.
