Thank you for these links. They're really helpful when you're looking for a way to design your site. I've been using http://opensourcetemplates.org/ to get some ideas for new site designs I want to implement on my websites. I even port the designs listed to work with the CMS I'm using, ModXCMS.

Which Kind Of Website You Will Choose Php Or Asp?
linekill replied to web_designer's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm not sure about the difference between PHP and ASP. I know that they're both server-side scripting language. PHP has strengths and weaknesses as much as ASP. I will choose, PHP, however. It's free and I read somewhere, sometime ago, that PHP is being used by a greater number of websites. And I'm using PHP on my websites. -
My favorite subjects are Physics and Chemistry. I took up Chemistry because the university didn't offer Physics. Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan). Why Physics? Because I once had an awesome Physics teacher. Great teachers have this awesome powers of changing the way we look at things and that's just what my Physics teacher did. Chemistry? I love the laboratory and all of those things we see in sci-fi movies where a lab explodes and the favorite dry ice effect, they're all has something to do with chemistry. And as they say, Chemistry is the central science. Biology, Physics even Psychology will somehow be connected to chemistry.

KnowledgeSutra ain't that bad but I was expecting a cooler name! (opps). I'm with Rael IAK with the Xisto name. The name ain't cool but it's a TRAP! LOL. And members of Xisto comes from different part of the globe so it would sound good to give it a complete english name like: knowledgebase or knowledgetrap, both of which are already taken.

Hi Foken. Welcome to Xisto. Enjoy your stay and keep on accumulating those MyCents.

Internet Speed For Youtube And Other Video.
linekill replied to puneye's topic in Science and Technology
I'm using 3G network (around 300 Mbps) and I can stream YouTube videos without problems. Of course, the HD videos will require buffering sometimes. The work-around is watching videos at around 10 PM to 9 AM when less people are using the network. -
I've graduated college about 4 years ago and here's what I went through. Kindergarten: 5-6 years old (8 AM to 3 PM)Here we learn to write our names, read and recite the alphabet (Filipino and English Alphabet), do math, sing, play and socialize. We don't have locker and we walk to school. (Our home is near, about 300 to 400 meters away but I had classmates who had to walk more than 1 km to attend school. It was fun, of course. We didn't have electricity back then so books, games and teacher's stories are all you have for fun. Plus the lovely beaches of the island - Camiguin Island.)Primary School and Intermediate (a.k.a. Elementary School) : 7-12 years old (8 AM to 4:30 PM)I remember studying the major subjects (Math, Science, Filipino and English). We also have minor subjects: Music, Agriculture, Physical Education, History, Scouting (Boy or Girl Scouts). My favorite subject was Agriculture. You are given your own space where you have to grow something. I remember growing Pechay, a vegetable. And during harvest periods, each student harvests his/her own crop and we cook them, eat and swim! Real fun. High School: 13-16 years old 8 AM to 5:00 PMI went to a special public school that focuses on science subjects (Regional Science High School). As the school's name suggests, most of the subjects that we have are Sciences (Natural Science, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Scientific Research and Methodology, etc.) and Math (Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus and Statistics). We also have minor subjects English, Filipino, History (local and world) and Physical Education for freshmen and sophomore while Basic Army Training for juniors and seniors. College: 17-20 years old (Schedule is dependent on study load)I took up Chemistry on college so I had mostly science and math classes. It's fun because you are able to choose your own schedule and electives. I had problem with some of my major subjects (Quantum Chemistry and Natural Products). Aside from taking major subjects, you're also required to take some of the minor subjects. History 1 (Local History) History 2 (Jose Rizal, our national hero). It's a Catholic school so I had to take 4 Religious Studies subjects (Bible, Christianity, World Religion and Christian Morality) and also 4 Philosophy classes (Logic, Philo of Man, Morality and Philo of Religion). After 16 years of school, you graduate and hopefully end-up in a high-paying job or continue to schooling to get a Masters and Ph.D. That's how we do it in the Philippines. :angel:There has been changes on the educational system to improve it.

Who Is The Hottest Girl In The World? Hottest girl ever?
linekill replied to nosoup4u's topic in General Discussion
Maggie Lawson! She's really pretty and she doesn't even have to wear shorts shorts to be sexy. James Broday sure did find a real treasure! (envious) -
Oh. That's a great idea and is less tiring than having to register and create a completely new blog like wordpress.com and blogger.com. To get backlinks, I constantly browse blogs with high google page rank (2 and above) and post comments with my site's link. That's another way to get free backlinks. I also register to several free-blog websites like bloggista.net, blogger.com, wordpress.com, livejournal and multiply. Post some articles I copied from sites that offers free articles and put backlinks. There really are lot of ways to get backlinks. Whewww

Evony Online: http://www.evony.com/ should also be considered a great game. Evony is another strategic massively multiplayer online game. It's infamous for its advertising technique: use of spambots to post unsolicited comments to blogs with a backlink. And its use of "sexy" girls on ads. Majority of its players stopped playing it because of these activities. But if we take their means out of the equation, evony does offer a great gameplay I'm sure any Travian player will enjoy.

And please don't forget my favorite game: 2MOONS or DEKARON (The name depends on your location.) http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ And my other favorite: ROHAN ONLINE http://maintenance.e-games.com.ph/ This game is generally like Tantra Online (Another free online game a few years back.) I believe the creators are the same. Anyway. I love this game because of it's simple but has a thorough character background.

20 Month Punishment For Raping 16 Years Old Girl?
linekill replied to FouGilang's topic in General Discussion
A 10-month sentence isn't justice served to the victim. If it were an estafa case, sure, it's acceptable but it's a rape case. And base on your description, the judge who made the verdict is also a woman. What? I don't know but I don't understand why that would happen. I believe Indonesia is an Islamic state, right? And from my little knowledge of Islam, it is very strict with regards to these matters. (I'm not sure though. Plus they have the state - religion separation.)Several years ago, one rape suspect was sentence to death (lethal injection) in my country. Still, there are still tons of sexual harassment victims who just ended up shutting their mouths because of the scandal it would bring to their family. This is sad. And lately, I read a news paper ad with a title "Foreigner Rapist". Apparently a foreigner, serial rapist has been raping girls in my country. Well, it's hard to explain. Respect women. -
Help Needed! Free Website Hosting For Music Upload
linekill replied to naldnaldb's topic in Web Hosting Support
First thing to do is gather a lot of posts. And I would suggest learning some HTML coding, the basics would be like a quantum leap. You can set up streaming sites almost anywhere and there are lot of ways that you can do it. Either embed files or let your webhost..hmm..host the file. For the meantime, though, study some basics of HTML. It's relatively easy and I'm sure you'll love it. -
Blog (web-logs) is an online journal. Some blogs, as mentioned by the people above, are full of ramblings and boring life story. Some are more serious like blogging about latest technology, gadget reviews, politics, religion, travel guides, etc.. And some uses it for advocacy - anti-corruption effort, women for ____, and more. Blog is a great technology. It's a freedom wall in the infinite world of the internet. And, of course, search engines love blogs. So if you plan on making a website, dedicate a small (or big) section of it for a blog and post site news and any updates of your site.

If that's the case, I can only think of doing a Remote Desktop (XP, Vista and Windows 7). I've tried it on several computer. But jihaslip's idea is really good. I just subscribed to UbuntuOne and will be trying it out if I have more time.

Hi martvefun. I wanted the same setup as you do now about a few months back. I went from setting up remote desktop on my home network using dyndns.org but didn't work much for me. My solution? Pendrive Linux! Now I have Ubuntu installed and running on an 8 Gb flash drive. It's handy. All I need is a computer that supports booting up through USB and my pendrive linux. Plug it into the computer, boot the computer from the flash drive and I have all of my files. Try it. There are tons of tutorials on how to do it. I hope it works for you.

Suicide. It's a waste of life. I believe it's a waste of a 1 in an infinite probability that is life. But I guess there are just people who can't accept some realities or just give up easily.I had a friend with a suicidal tendency. Her boyfriend broke up with her so she drunk a bottle of toilet bowl cleaner (I believe it was Mighty Duck). She locked herself in the bathroom and it took his sister's fiancee to break the lock. Fortunately, she survived. She may have learned her lesson 'cause she never looked back again. She's married now and is living happily, I hope. There are people who wants to die because they want to transcend to the next cycle or they want to answer what's beyond life. Can't they wait? You're going to die anyway. But then again, it's there choice. Live and let die.

Does any of you guys watch Psych with the tagline (Fake Psychic, Real Detectives) I've been watching this show since Season 1 and it's a refreshing series.

LOL! I'm pretty sure that if they complete a teleporter, they would address this issue. Since it's actually just making a copy of you, I guess they can also do these: 1. Save a copy of all your details (DNA, Memory, Etc.) in a flash drive. During the whole transmission process, a person will be converted into some type data that will be transmitted through a network. It will allow people to save a copy of all your data for future reference. Haha. A sort of a backup in case something prevents the transmission. At the same time, by having a copy of yourself, it's possible to just store that copy and when you die, re-create your body. As for the memory, however, it will depend on what time/date that data was saved. Now we just found the Fountain of Life. (I would still prefer to die, though.) 2. Create multiple copies of you. Yes you are right! It would be easier to recreate multiple copies of a single person. In one side we have 100,000 Osama Bin Laden and on the other we have 100,000 George W. Bush. Let them kill each otherS. Soldiers won't be needed. If there's a problem between two countries that could escalate into a war, make a copy of their respective leaders.. say 10,000 on each side. Select a location and let them fight on their own. (It's the funny side of things.) It might take a few decades before it comes true but hell, what a scary idea.

I'm not a PHP Programmer so I won't be able to give you a feedback regarding how it might have been set up. I could, however, provide some pointers to better the design of your site. The site's color is simple. And since you're posting quotations, I would suggest adding more designs to it. Not the very flashy ones. Maybe some swirls here on the header and a small version of it on the footer. I would also suggest losing the gradient-tube effect of the navigation bar. For easier identification, putting a :hover effect and/or :active effects on the navbar will significantly increase the appeal of the website - inverting the colors is simple but would be sufficient. All in all, you have a good starting point for a design. Put more detail and you're good to go.

video upload how do you upload video to your website?
linekill replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
got2get is right. The answer generally depends on what you meant by "How to upload video?". If you are referring to letting users (admin, mods, members or guest) upload any video to your website, then it will take a lot of work and learning. If you're using a CMS (Content Management System), best to ask help in their community board. I'm sure a lot of people has tried to set it up using the same CMS. But if you're website is hard-coded. I would suggest embedding youtube videos. This will save you time. You don't have to convert the videos to streamable file like an FLV file. -
