Ok, here are some steps that you can follow. Making Wordpress (WP) your default site. Login to your Xisto cPanel (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) Once you are logged in, scroll down to the 'preinstalled scripts' box Then, click on Fantastico In Fantastico, click on Wordpress, under the blogs section. In the box on the right, Click on 'New Installation (2.0.2)' Select the domain/subdomain you want to install Wordpress on. Since you want your default site to be the Wordpress blog system, leave 'Install in directory' blank Under the 'Admin access data' section, enter the administrative details. Under 'Base configuration' enter the required details (Admin nickname, Admin e-mail, Site name, Description - you can edit all these details later on!) Enter the 'E-mail account configuration' details as provided by Xisto After filling all the required information, click on the 'Install WordPress' button If there are any errors, you will see a message like 'The installation can not be completed:' If you already installed another script via Fantastico in the root of the website, you will see an error message saying: 'You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain.' To solve this problem, you will have to delete the previously installed script from the website. I all the information is correct, you should see a message similar to: Now, click on the Finish Installation button and you are done! These steps will set your default site as the WordPress blogging system! For installing new themes, follow these simple steps Download your desired theme (for this example, I will use Connections - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) Unzip the file and you will see a folder that says Connections Minimize this folder window and connect to your site via FTP (SmartFTP recommended - use this wonderful tutorial if you need help with SmartFTP: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/37247-smartftp-ftp-using-smartftp/) First, go to public_html. Then, go to wp-content (assuming you installed the Wordpress blog system in your root directory). Then open up the themes folder. Now, drag the WordPress theme folder (Connections in this case) and drop it in the themes folder of your site (via FTP) After the folder has been uploaded, login to your WordPress Administration Panel. In the menu located at the top, click in the 'Presentations' link Once the page loads, you should see the newly uploaded theme under the 'Available Themes' title. Now, click on the *new* theme that you want to use You will see a message on the top of the page, that says "New theme activated. View site ť" Click on View Site ť to view your new theme in action Hope this helps

Well, this is a result of link-bombing! A bunch of anti-Bush people (most of the online community) decided to link to George Bush's profile with the anchor text of the link as 'failure'. This managed to get a LOT of bloggers linking to that page and therefore resulting in the results! I don't think they are going to get into trouble for that!

Yea.. I saw that too! Here's a message on the mainpage I seriously think that Lycos should update its spam filters. I get TONS of spam that is not filtered! This is a good thing for Lycos Mail I guess!

I think this site (http://www.seoconsultants.com/css/menus/tutorial/) has it laid out pretty clean.. The problem with creating a hover menu using only CSS is that it is not VERY compatible! Using a combination of JavaScript and CSS would probably be the best solution! Hmm.. I don't really know about Rico but the controls it offers seem like nothing compared to BackBase which offers a much larger library of controls and its free (like Rico).

One of the craziest things I did was I water-ballooned a BMW and unfortunately we (some of my friends were there too) did not realize that there was a person in the car (D-oh) and he got out and started chasing us .You don't want to know what happened next.. trust me. Aw. what the heck! We "escaped" from the guy by running into a friends apartment building. (In Toronto, there's a lot of high rise apartments -- with around 15-20 floors) and luckiliy the guy gave up! That was a pretty stupid thing to do rather than crazy ... I did'nt realize there was a guy IN the car, that pretty stupid of me.

I'll have to go with the third one (sein2004). Although none of the templates look complete, I think that you should go with sein2004 and do some touch-up work on it :)Note that the menu for sein2004 in Firefox (on 1680 x 1050 Resolution) has some error with the menu background image.

I just created a NEW DESIGN/TEMPLATE for the Joomla! Content Management System. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ This design features a top-bar where some SEO keywords can go right on top and then on the second tier of the top bar, there is the sites name/title. The main colors of this design are gray (#CFCFCF) and shades of blue (#00CCFF to #0066FF). The design itseld WAS valid XHTML 1.1, but the way Joomla renders content caused some invalidity . The template has very few graphics, about 7-10 fast loading images. Most of the template is text based and there are no tables used (except when Joomla! renders content in the form of tables ) The tabbed menu is integrated into the header making it look like a part of the header. The content and the right bar have a box around them . As people mentioned, unless you are going to have a HUGE community like DigitalPoint its better to stick to simpler forums scripts such as IPB, SMF etc.

Transferring more than 1 file at a time is very easy... you can just drag-and-drop files to upload them (or download them). All you have to do is connect to the server (enter you server, username and password) and then go to the folder where you want to copy your files and then, select the files you want to upload and drag-and-drop these files right into the SmartFTP program and the files will be uploaded. I would say that there is no BEST FTP Program... its just that SmartFTP is easy to use, and it is the most widely used FTP program. There are other FTP softwares available! Just go to download.com and enter 'FTP client' (http://download.cnet.com/s/) Seems like BulletProofFTP is also a popular FTP software (with over 1,287,195 downloads!)

I agree with KuBi, the lines are way too visible! what you could also do is add a clipping mask to the lines and have a gradient from the bottom (white to transparent).I think that it will look better if the bevel on the bar is removed. But, for a first userbar its looking good . I really like the forumize bar in your sig, try making the puffin one similar to that (use it as a guide )-Paul

Hmmm. to be honest, as a web designer, I find your designs redundant and dull. Mostly because your sites are entirely code based with no images. Adding some nifty graphics using Photoshop would add some ZAP to your site and they will look more attractive .Also, the logo on "something bad" site looks pretty MSPAINTish (I'm guessing it was made in MS paint).I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the use of Adobe Photoshop or Adobe/Macromedia Fireworks. This will improve the look of the sites you create(d)

I read this book this year (last semester). Personally I found the book exciting until the end, and in the end the story was just ruined (IMHO). For an assignment, I requested if I could do an alternative ending and I did do one.John Steinbeck is a great author and I liked his other books like 'The Pearl'. So, overall reading this book is a great thing, and just make up an alternate ending for your satisfaction

Hmm... isn't encryption a little more complicated than that? I dont really know about encryption because I can use readymade certificates from VeriSign etc., but how does encryption work? Let's take two computer for example (Computer X and Computer Y). Now, I want to send a 'secret' message from X to Y. So, I'll use a 'secret key' to encrypt the file that I'm sending. So I send an encrypted message that Y can't understand without the key. Now, how will I send the key to Y without exposing the secret key to hackers who can then take both pieces of information (secret key and encrypted message) and put it together to reveal the secret? Because, If I send the key via the internet, it is exposed to the same danger as the encrypted message is! Hope you understand what I'm asking ! NOTE that it would be considered plagiarism to post material from other sites directly onto these forums without placing them in quotes! Please place the definition of encryption in quotes like these: Doing this ensures that you are sticking to forum rules!

Submitting your URL on the submit URL page of Google will take longer to index than having a high PageRank link pointing to the page.So the best way to get your 'new' sites indexed is to place a link to the new site from a well established 'old' site that is visited by the Googlebot often.

Thats a great design you have there. I really like the color combo and the tabbed browsing. There is one little problem with your tabs in Firefox (not sure about IE), the sitemeter code acts as a tab and its coming outside its parent div and it seems obtrusive to the design (although its minor).Overall, its a great design! I like it .

One of my FREE template sites is https://freewebsitetemplates.com/. Although they update rarely, their collection of templates is very attractive and professional. But, as biscuitrat said, its more fulfilling to create your own templates! I'm thinking of creating a FREE TEMPLATE section on my site http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ where I will put up a new Joomla! template or normal template every fortnight. Any suggestions or thought on this idea.
