Can a PC handle a PS2/XboX game? What's the point of a PS2 or an XboX then? -
Actually, creating a Joomla template is really easy. I work with Joomla! most of the time and create site mostly in Joomla! The best example you can follow is the basic Joomla! template. But, I'm guessing you already tried that so here is an easy way to do it. First, create a template like you normally would, but make sure you use more CSS than HTML (this makes it easier in the future). What I do is basically have 5 divs: - container (to hold the whole template together) - header - content - left/right bar (or both) - footer Then, adjust your template by floating the divs and setting it up. Then create your images and graphics for the site like you normally would and create the whole template. NOW, Joomla! templates use a particular format. ITS VERY SIMPLE: In the place where you want the main body (content) add the following: <?php mosMainBody() ?> And then, you can set custom positions for the modules using the code: <?php mosLoadModules ('PositionName'); ?> After you create your template, you have to set the Module Positions in Joomla! by Going to Site >> Template Manager >> Module Positions To help you understand this better, I've included an image here: In the image above, I used four divs and added the for php codes that Joomla! requires. Now, you have to try and understand how JOomla! generates menus and modules and style them using CSS. If you want to see an example of a Joomla! template you can visit the site in my SIG! Hope this helps

What If People All Saw Things Differently?
Paul replied to Nitefell's topic in Science and Technology
First of all, THIS COLOR could be 'asdfqwerty33' for all you know... because we as human beings like to keep things neat, organized and standardized, we gave each of these a name and in this case, THIS COLOR is red. The color could've been anything, but its just a standard name that we as humans chose and accepted. This reminds me of colorblind people... it doesn't really affect their lives in any way... but it would surprise them to know that what they see is not what the others see. geez... i've got myself confused now Anyways, this is an interesting theory. -
I agree with dark_drgn, this idea is VERY creative, again it is also very impossible. First of all, the costs are too high: Just imagine, how expensive it is to put little power generators under each key 0.5 cm key of the keyboard. Secondly, the energy generated is so minute that it wont make much of a difference. According to IBM, an average computer user's keystroke generates about 6.9 mW (milli watts). Let us assume that there are a million users using their keyboards, all at once. They will together generate, 0.0069 X 1,000,000 = 6900 Joules/Second (Watt = Joules/Sec). A 17" CRT monitor uses about 80 Joules/second (Watts). Considering this, the power generated by our 1 million computer users in 10 hours (69000 Watts) will keep the 17" CRT monitor running for about FIFTEEN minutes... Hope I did the math right ... i probably did. Hope this sheds some light on the topic

According to the news posted on the site, TPB is in fact looking for a compensation and they seem very confident that they are legal. Keep in mind that TPB is hosted in Sweden, and Swedish laws apply and those laws have some loopholes that these guys are playing around with. I'm pretty sure they're going to remain online!

If you can provide a link or description of the scripts you are using, we can suggest CSS alternatives. And about the 301 redirect use .htaccess redirect. what you have to do is create a .htaccess file, if doesn't already exist in your root directory and add this line: Redirect permanent / http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Actually, Google does take note of servers. In terms of links, if you host two sites on a server and place a link on each site to the other, these links aren't as important as links from an external server/IP. Here's an interesting read on this topic from SeoChat:

Thanks for the welcome mama_soap! I noticed you are from b"lore, I lived there a couple of year ago. That's a great place with great weather, great food and great people . I kinda miss it now. -
Perosnally, I think that it is hard to find webmasters who are good at SEO and are willing to try out affiliate programs. If the webmaster is that good at SEO, he'll probably sell his service to businesses for quite a sum of money. But, this is dependent upon the competitiveness of your keywords. Use worktracker to figure out the data behind your keywords and the number of results for the keywords in Google. If the keyword has not too many results its easier to rank higher and webmasters might be willing to do the job! You can opt for reseller hosting and then ask your host for further details. Overall, the idea is good, but you must carefully consider the competitiveness of the keywords you want SEO for!

Has anyone tried out BackBase yet? Its a great AJAX developing framework that allows you to create rich applications, using JS, XML and optionally some PHP.I was REALLY fascinated by this framework when I first tried it! You can create applications like Windows Live Mail, with customized context menus, etc.I highly recommend that you try out this framework for developing great USER friendly and feature-rich applications.Although, please note that the FREE version is around 30MB+ and takes a long time downloading and uploading! If you are going to try it out, I reccomned using SSH to download it directly onto the server instead of manually downloading it to your computer and then uploading it onto a server!Regards,Paul

Boozker's Place Or Carpet Boarding? Which one should i keep up.
Paul replied to BooZker's topic in Websites and Web Designing
My bad, I only looked at the first two sites thinking they were the sites you were reffering to. Sorry for the error! -
Google is CONSTANTLY updating their search results! If you have a link from a PR5 page, Google will index your site within 48 hours (it visits most PR5 pages every 48hours) A few days ago, I placed a link to a brand new site I made for a client from a PR7 page and it was indexed in less than 30 hours!

I dont know about the future, but right now, the computers are pretty small and advanced and hard to catch-up with! For example, I have a Watch Computer (PDA) that has the PalmOS in it... that's pretty hi-tech enough for me :rolleyes:But, I think in the future they'll have computers embedded in humans and its going to be pretty messed up!

Yea.. I've seen this guy before while I was watching Stephen Colbert grill president Bush during his toast! Its pretty funny!

Windows Lingo Useful for those new to the terminology
Paul replied to garbage's topic in Science and Technology
The reason why I asked is that the MS Office 2007 Beta 2 i just downloaded uses the term de-install instead of uninstall. -

How Many Websites Will Be There In Future?
Paul replied to Justin S.'s topic in Websites and Web Designing
I was talking about a SIMPLE 5-page website, not about a dynamic CMS site that will achieve the goals and dreams of the client. $1000 for a 5-page website it ridiculous! Even amatures can create a site that looks professional, make it look good on most browsers & resolutions and how much SEO can you do on a 5-page website! for a 5-page website, I think linkbuilding is more important. -
How Many Websites Will Be There In Future?
Paul replied to Justin S.'s topic in Websites and Web Designing
IMHO It doesn't matter whether the maker of the website is a pro or amature as long as the site looks professional. I'd rather pay $100 for a professional site made by amatures rather than $1000 to a professional to make a professional site. -
Hi, I am Paul, a 15 year old, from Toronto, Canada (Moving to Austin, TX soon!). I am a part-time web designer and I work for about 1-2 hours a day on the computer. I have been doing some projects for some clients and my latest one is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Although its says I joined the forums around FEB, i only joined the forums to get some tech support from OpaQuE regarding Xisto - Web Hosting! I only started posting stuff yesterday. You can also find me at my *new* site: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I really enjoy playing soccer, I DO NOT like music (although I can play two instruments - guitar and piano - because I was forced to). I barely listen to music and when I do I listen to the top-10 songs on Yahoo! Music. I am not on these forums for free hosting, as I already have paid hosting. I'm just here because I like these forums OH! I also have a cool PDA watch that has the PalmOS installed on it, so i write some programs for my Watch/PDA. The only CMS I like is Joomla! because of its customizability and advanced features. Yea.. I'm pretty random and usually sarcastic (mostly in real life, and not on forums because I might get banned!) Regards, Paul

Windows Lingo Useful for those new to the terminology
Paul replied to garbage's topic in Science and Technology
Because we are discussing Windows lingo, I thought I'd ask.Which of these is the right term for removing a software from you computer? DE-INSTALL or UNINSTALL? -
If you HAVE to use a software, use FrontPage, Dreaweaver or as wariorpk suggested use NVU ( i havent tried that yet ). But the easier thing to do, is use Notepad to create SIMPLE code for you layout and then use CSS to achieve the desired look. CSS is a very valuable tool that WYSIWYG editors don't really make use of (I don't know about NVU though!). Personally, I create all my sites on Notepad (both, CSS and HTML).

Need Help With Tables Causing A Line Down My Website
Paul replied to Dagoth Nereviar's topic in Websites and Web Designing
OK.. I got the fix! Go to line 58 (after I did view-source) and replace the line: <table id="Main" width="691" height="401" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center"> with <table id="Main" width="690" height="401" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">(Just change the width to 690px) I tried this, saved the file and opened it in FF and IE and it worked fine Its just off by a pixel, thats all Hope this works. Regards, Paul -
But, as other people noted, the price tag on the PS3 is a little too high! Apparently, the premium unit (console, wireless motion controller, other stuff) is going to be priced at $800! IMO That's pretty high!
