  1. actually jasper has mentioned this before, that BMI didn't consider the weight of a person that has more muscles than fat. muscles are more dense that fat (thus making fat people float on water than muscular people). so if you're the buffy person, then don't get thrown off if the BMI says that you're overweight. the doctor's advice would probably be more credible.with that said, i'm a little overweight with my height. but the last time i weighed myself was last year, so i really don't know how much difference i weigh right now. but since i don't feel different that the way i felt last year, then most probably i'm still overweight, although i'm still trying my best to go back to my normal weight because that's my goal before i graduate, or at least before i get a job.
  2. i would have to say medicine. i mean if it weren't discovered, lots of people wouldn't be living. but you can also say that the discovery of medicine contradicts darwin's theory of natural selection, that it's the survival of the fittest. but of course it doesn't mean being fit physically, you can say that it's also being fit mentally. and what the mind thinks, the body follows. if one has a great mind, they can think of something like discovering medicine to further "strengthen" up their bodies in order for them to survive even longer.
  3. well, this is an inspirational thing, but i'm one of those people who just won't stop 'til i get answers. if i just let things be and live life as it is, then i won't get the answers that i want, answers that i need.
  4. well, you could always assume that the users viewing that page would be those that aren't using dial-up. but of course that's not always the case. but anyway, you really don't need to make the image bigger than that. actually it's far better if you left it like at that size or even smaller. the technique of splicing the images is a great thing to do so it makes the loading faster. and also make use of a background color to match the image.i do like the image (especially the name imprinted on the mountain). and if you're going to make a wordpress layout, better have the similar theme as that of the start page. i'm also making a wordpress layout myself but that would have to wait since i'm doing some major stuff right now.
  5. if it's java, you can use jCreator. although i forgot which version it was. if your pc can handle the load, use NetBeans or Eclipse. these IDE's help a lot. i'm currently using netbeans 5.0 for developing my application, although i'm not using the drag and drop feature because it limits my ability as a programmer. i'd rather create my GUI's by hand-coding it myself.on the back side, netbeans is too slow even for a fast pc like mine
  6. well, this question would have been acceptable if the one who posted it considered that other users don't have cable connection for internet... or even dsl. some only have dial-up, you know. how would people take sides? it's pretty much a useless argument if you didn't think of that possibility.with that said, i'm using dsl and don't know about cable since we don't have that service here as of the present date.
  7. actually, having your blog in blogspot will have a greater possibility for it to appear on google. first, blogspot (blogger.com) outputs pages in html, contents of which are easily scanned by the search engines, unlike wordpress (like my blog), which uses php and stores the information on a database (mysql). and because the content is on a database, the search engines are most likely to find not much content on a page whenever it searches your blog.i, on the other hand, have been into the blogging world for quite some time now so searching for my name in search engines would give you more results.
  8. if i'm probably close by to anyone, yeah i'll probably meet them. but since we're all so far apart, then i think that would be impossible for the moment. i mean, not all of us have the money to travel, you know.
  9. liquid that grows? you've got to be kidding me. it's not even an organism.your number 2 could actually be done, but it's more like "fooling your brain", just like those smell-a-vision thingy, where you sniff the product that would make you feel full already. since it's actually using the senses, and that it has a direct connection to the brain, the effect would be that you won't feel hungry.your number 3 could probably be done as well. maybe chemically or something.
  10. february is still too far. and by that time, it would be too far behind. but of course if you like anime better than manga, then i guess, it's a no problem for you.i never downloaded any of the fillers, nor have i watched them (except maybe until the curry of life eps). when i thought that the fillers have been ended, i downloaded the kurenai episodes (the one where she battles the girl with the genjutsu, her former student). it was horrifying, the entire episode looked like it was drawn by a kid or some fanatic who has been hired to do the fillers. it was low quality. they were probably saving up for the continuation of the series. oh well.
  11. well, it would be difficult to inject ice cream inside a cookie, unless the cookie has a cake-like texture to it (after all, there are variations of cookies), since there's a lot of space where you can inject the cream to it.or you could go around about it. try baking the cookie on a mold that would shape the cookie so there's a space to put the icecream later.
  12. no problem here... i'm using ftp these past few days so i'm a bit oblivious to this. hehe
  13. oh ok. sorry bout that. it would have been clear if you mentioned it beforehand.but why do you need to get a blogging software when you can login to your account and post entries there directly? if you're pretty much knowledgeable with html, then you can do those fancy-shmancy by inputting the html code on your post yourself.with that said, no, i don't know any software that does things like that..... oh wait... i remember one application. but it's only for blogger accounts (blogger.com). they can sure upload photos on your blog, but i'm not sure if they can edit photos the way you want them to. i can't remember much since it has been a long time since i was a blogger user.
  14. oh yeah, speaking of cow tongue, we also have a dish here in our country that uses cow's tongue as ingredient. while it probably isn't a native dish (because of its name), it's still a dish that most of the locals eat. i do find it disgusting. it's called lengua (read as leng-wa, with a hard g as in "stronger").
  15. well, i have never heard of a blogging software for blogs such as wordpress.what i do know is that you can put wordpress in your hosting account so you can have a blog provided in a hosting account, wordpress style. the features aren't as full as the original wordpress blog, but it still has most of the functionality. if you want you can download it from wordpress.org. follow the instructions on how to install it on your hosting account here in trap (if you ever have one).
  16. well, history isn't really the best subject out there, unless you're a fan. usually, when the professors/instructors/teachers repeat a lesson, it's mostly for recap, so as to let the students remember the topic more. like what i've said, history isn't the best subject. students take it for granted (i, for one, am no exception to this). learning about your past gives you a better understanding of what is happening in the present.i think what your teacher should do is change his teaching style or should i say approach to the subject. he should make his lectures more interactive (like getting comments or questions from students, and not just asking students questions), since history could be labeled as a boring subject, in order to let the students have a better grasp of what is being discussed in class. in this way, the repetition of the topic will be avoided.
  17. i've eaten pig and chicken intestines. they boil it in a broth with spices, not only to flavor and soften them, but also to kill the bacteria and remove the contents. then the intestines are sliced (usually in pig intestines) like rings and are placed in barbeque sticks, which will be grilled just like barbeque. some other variations use other body parts of the chicken (head, feet, neck, *bottom*, and other innards) and pig (ear, skin, hardened blood by cooking the blood)there's a dish here in our country called dinuguan (it translates to "stewed blood"), where the pig's blood (i've never heard people use chicken or cow's blood for the ingredients) is mixed with vinegar and constantly mixed using both hands to prevent the blood from curdling, or in medical terms, clotting. then it is cooked with vegetables and pork. there's a technique in cooking it properly.and lastly, we also have balut, which i think some of you would be familiar of. it's a duck egg, but they allow the chick inside to develop for some time and then they cook the egg. i don't eat the chick though, only the yolk.
  18. it was taught in class during my 3rd year in high school, although it was more of a "quickie" since we just tackled it for a day. i got interested for a while then due to classes my mind was already taken off web designing. then in college, i just shifted to using php along with html. learning php took me about less than a month i guess.
  19. i don't know why i got bleep-ed on my last post, but anyway...well, it's good that you gave him a chance. and it's good that everything turned out well for the both of you. i guess the reason why he didn't show up was because he is probably getting shy again. after what he did to you... then he asked you out... then he kissed you...just approach him if he doesn't come up to you.
  20. in this case, you don't fight fire with fire. if you bang him in the head, that wouldn't make him stop. if you keep on coming to him because he tempted you, then he'll just do it again and again. it's that simple.it will take a lot of patience for you to ignore him while he keeps on bugging you. and when he gets tired because you don't notice him anymore, then he'll go away (hopefully).
  21. you can't just ask a girl how they are doing with her boyfriend. if she really has a boyfriend, then that's none of your business. to some extent it's rude to ask someone that kind of question. and if she did have a boyfriend, you have to respect her space. you can't just go ask her out to see a movie or go on a date or something.if it was just a bluff and she really didn't have a boyfriend, then it means that she's just making you feel jealous, trying to lure you more to her.if you just heard someone said that she's staring at you, then it's either one of two things. it's true that she might be staring at you and that she does like you, or it's false because these people just might be playing with your emotions, they're just saying what you want to hear.you don't jump to conclusions, just because someone said to you that she's staring at you. a second-hand news might not be as "new" as it should be. you have to find it out for yourself. try to read her (and i didn't say, read her mind), her actions, the way she moves and speaks when you're around and all those stuff.
  22. i mostly play rpg. but i rarely see good rpg games now. the last good rpg game that i've played is lunar. i haven't tried the final fantasy series because of lack of time and before when it was the hype of the ff series in playstation, i wasn't much of a techie/gamer myself so almost everything was oblivious to me.i also play some fighting-based games, and some racing games (if i feel like playing them).
  23. how is a guy telling you how sexy you are not a good thing? if it's said in a perverted way, yes, it doesn't sound good. and if the friend already said that the guy doesn't know how to act accordingly in front of beautiful women, then the guy really means what he said about you being sexy. it's just that he crossed the line by not saying it properly.you already have the body, so why not flaunt it? i'm sure a lot of guys will fall for you. that *BLEEP* who harassed you would probably regret he said such stuff, if he found out that other guys are running around to get your attention. it's a matter of building up your self esteem and be confident about yourself.
  24. so i'm assuming it's the connection problem and not the drive being destroyed since the drive light is still working. okay i'll check it. be back in a few.
