  1. the point of having a high school system is not because it's a waste of time, but because it is part of a transition from lower system like grade school, to an even higher system, which is college. all the training that is being taught in highschool is a prerequisite in college, all the subjects a student needs to take, and of course to enhance his/her abilities and discover what kind of course he/she feels more appropriate for them when they step out of highschool and go to college. other stuff like, proms and friends, are part of the whole process of learning. and the integral of everything that is learned in highschool is helpful when it one steps to college. indeed i believe that there are some stuff that is not necessary to take anymore, but i don't think it's a waste of time, nor money. that probably should answer your number 1 and number 2.to answer your number 3, here's my point. not everyone is as talented/skillful/mentally upgraded (for lack of a better term) like you. in fact i find your entire post kinda conceited and i somehow took it as an offense at first. but as i've read on, that you've mentioned you're just 16 and you've already stepped into college, i felt like i need not be angry, that i should be laughing my pants off. that's because in our country, almost every teenager gets to college at that age, so there's nothing really special about that. but since you've mentioned it is in the US setting, then i need not to laugh at it. but i believe i've read a news about a kid, even younger than you who is already in his college years (and if i'm not mistaken, he's in harvard). but anyway, my point is that, not everyone has that kind of ability to just pass the entire highschool in just one week. to answer your last question. it is not really about which to take over which. like what saint_michael has mentioned (and i've pointed it out as well), high school is more like a general education, but the training you get there is a prerequisite of what you're going to take in college. like what i've said, not everything is necessary to take in highschool if you really want to enhance your skills on your specialization, but since it's part of the process of learning, it is somehow made as a necessary thing to take. indeed a highschool diploma is not comparable to a college degree, basically because you can't compare them. a highschool diploma is a recognition that you've accomplished 4 years of training yourself to get ready for college. it's not really "wasting time".most kids go to highschool because they believe that it will be fun--that they'll get to meet new friends, face new challenges-- it's all part of growing up, not only physically, but for the entire well-being as well. the most striking thing about highschool is that it is situated at a teen's age of maturity, that whatever happens to them in highschool, all the experiences (good or bad) are all put to memory, and would last for a lifetime. it is the experience that makes it worthwhile. that i think, is what differentiates highschool from college. in college, people are more serious, more mature, more focused in going out to the real world and work for their own money. of course just because kids in highschool are more carefree, doesn't mean it's all about partying, and clubbing. it's the experience they get in highschool, the part when they start to mature, that's something a kid that goes to college instantly can't have. true, you could have friends that range from ages, but the experience would be incomparable.
  2. well, choose a topic/thread that you feel like it's interesting enough for you to reply to. in this way, you'll be able to put longer posts. there are a lot of topics/threads to choose from, and i think you just have to search for the good ones out of the bunch (well not all aren't worth of a reply ). don't just depend on the "latest replies" and "latest topics" and the bottom of the page. search a subforum, if needed be. search for terms that you might want to know of in the search bar, and hope they have a topic on it. the sky is the limit.of course i'd rather tell you to choose topics than start one, but if you have something you might want to know (not the trivial ones of course), something that makes you curious enough that it troubles you at night that you cannot sleep at all... lol... okay that was a bit over the top but i think you get my point. and of course, as the trap rule says, make the topic worth a reply.hope that helps.
  3. dude, that's freaky. i mean seriously. and what's with the hair? lol is that even hair or something? i didn't know they can do metallic colors on m&m's lol
  4. valentines day aren't just limited to lovers. the day is for the celebration of love, be it all kinds of love. although most people use most of their money for the celebration, i don't think it need not be spent with so much luxury. sometimes, less is more, as the cliche goes.with regards to your problem. i honestly think it's up to you which to give her since it wouldn't really matter that much. what would be in the email or card is what really matters. a nice poem perhaps, a song or just a simple letter of appreciation. that's right, appreciation. the reason why i said that is because there are certain things you need to consider when writing to her. since she's already committed to someone, you have to respect that and give her the appropriate space--meaning, there are some lines you can't cross, and even if you are doing that, the people around her (especially her boyfriend) might get suspicious and in the worst case, it might affect her relationship with not only her boyfriend but also your friendship as well.being friends with her is enough, and i think it should be the idea or thought of the letter/poem/song you should write to her. show her that you appreciate your friendship and that you're glad you have met her, but you have to keep it at that. tell her that you hope to continue your friendship for a long time. after all, a great relationship starts with a strong base friendship. time will tell if you're really meant for her, and if not, well, at least having a great friend by your side is even better. now, valentine's day is less than a month from now. while it's still too early to think about it, at least you have a lot of time to think about what to write to her. good luck! and hope that helps.
  5. if that makes you happy, then i'll say "a /cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi; lol :Panyway, my only concern with this one is that if it's about love, or checking your love rather, the "things about love" should always be the second sentence not the first. because writing it the way you did doesn't show what you really mean, or what the title really means. it made sense, but in the wrong way. lol. i'm not making sense anymore.
  6. it is indeed a wrong decision. aside from affecting her health, it will also affect the people around her. you have to tell her the consequences of her actions before something goes wrong. she needs to understand that, more than anything else. and no offense meant, she's already an adult, i think she should also think like one.
  7. well it takes some certain maturity level in order to understand the importance of school, although i wouldn't say that just because you're a teen, that i completely understand your position. school can be boring to kids who find playing more interesting. while they are different, it doesn't mean the former can't be mixed with the latter. school can be fun too, but not in terms of fooling around. there are ways to make your school life a little more exciting. of course it would take effort in your part and you have to commit to that in order for your school days to be fun. with regards to your teachers, well i do agree that teachers can be a little bit of pain, especially if they're too strict. but you know, being strict helps a kid become more disciplined. they make sure that a kid acts properly their age. while i'm not an advocate of this idea, it is more of the easier way, but it does affect the student's personality. of course a teacher need not be a strict one in order for his/her students to follow. there are other ways to train a student and it need not be in a harsh manner. kids who sleep are those who aren't interested in a class and most likely share the same sentiment as you when it comes to school--they also find it boring. those kids in detention are those who think of school as somewhere to fool around, and they are put to detention because they needed to be taught a lesson and be straightened out. with regards to bullies and school fights, well most kids are too aggressive these days. they take offense in just a little matter that affect them slightly or even not at all. while i admit that i was a receiving end of spiteful comments and bullying of my peers during highschool, i usually don't fight back, not because i'm a coward, but because i don't have time and energy to waste to such people. these bullies, well, bully others because they think they're great and they like to put down people, and most likely don't have anything better to do with their life. think of it like this, when kids come together and bully others, they think they're better people, but individually they really can't do anything by themselves, that's why they're called bullies. it's funny how you can manage to think like that. like what i've mentioned above, the reason why teachers do such is because kids need to be trained, taught. this is because later on in life you're going to need all the stuff you've learned in school and apply it to your everyday life. they don't just give you assignments because they like to make their students suffer, but because it's part of the training. sarcastically speaking, only those who deserve to be in school are those who can survive such training given by teachers, and those who think it's just another suffering, should just stay home. and of course, i'd like to quote this one, because i think it need special attention. well i think it's time you realize that later on in life, things WILL get complicated, so complicated that any sane person would probably lose his mind to. it WILL get a lot harder than what you think. if you think that's already tough, then wait 'til you grow up. and another quote, because i really like to make sure you get my point being in school isn't a responsibility. it's a privilege. in developing countries and also those, well, undeveloped countries, you'll be surprised that most of the kids there don't even go to school, some even probably don't know the meaning of the word exactly. my point is that be grateful you're being sent off to school and learn so many stuff that other unprivileged kids don't even get. nuff said.
  8. yes, i do like my school, thank you very much. our school is the top university in the country and i'm proud to be studying there. best in quality education, and gives a lot of opportunities to its graduates and have a greater chance of getting a good job once they step out to the real world.the training might be harsh (to some probably), but it's worth it. especially if you know that your efforts are rewarded
  9. i used to play neopets before. i even had three pets. two i created and one i adopted. i don't play that much way back then. i only collect free stuff given daily as advised by my brother. i maintain a low amount of money so i could just rely on soup fairy to feed my pets lol. i'm such a bad owner really. then i got tired of the game. i had my classmate take my account and get all the stuff i had there and let him cancel the account himself. and besides i really don't have much use of that. and i really can't play the game that much. the browser-based games kinda suck for me, especially since they lack animation. lol.but anyway, both of my brothers play that. even the older one, and to think he's already working.
  10. whoops! while alcohol can kill germs, it really can't be used on your face that's nuts! your dermatologist would probably shout at you if you did that. it dries your skin (even if the alcohol says it has moisturizer or something) and it is harsh for your facial skin. though cleansers naturally have alcohol in it, the type of alcohol found in cleansers are different from the one found in rubbing alcohol.
  11. well it DOES seem promising, considering that in the middle of your post i wasn't sure if the person you were referring to was a girl or a boy because you said "girl" then used "his" as a pronoun. oh well but of course i'm not really into online dating. i would consider it but, i don't think i would take it THAT seriously.good luck with your relationship.
  12. oh no. don't just take any medication without the advice of your doctor/dermatologist. i don't know if hydrogen peroxide is good for your facial skin, rather good for clearing acne. but i think the product for that is benzoyl peroxide (can't remember the spelling). but if you want a regimen for that, there's always mild soap or cleanser for cleansing the face, toner for returning the normal pH of the skin (soaps tend kill all the bacteria, even the good ones on the skin, and also affects the pH of the skin), and lastly moisturizer to maintain the moisture of the skin (soap tends to strip moisture off the skin). of course the product to use depends on you, whichever suits you bets, and as advised by your doctor. if needed be, they'll tell you which kinds of medications to take.as for home remedies, you'll have to search for that over the net. but please do be careful in taking such remedies. it doesn't really mean it works on all skin types. (i do have used one or two tips before, but i really can't keep on with doing it daily, since i don't have the ingredients most of the time)and i think there are also foods that you have to avoid. these kinds of food affects oil secretion of your skin and thus affecting the appearance of acne.
  13. well it comes with the responsibility of having a dog and only people who complain don't deserve to have one but i do like the image of your puppy. so cute :Ppersonally, i'd love to have one, but i'm really busy. we do have dogs in the house but i can't really take care of them. our helper is the one who cleans them most of the time.
  14. it's actually difficult if you just depend on what people say about what she feels for you. i can't just say go talk to her yourself because that's not clearly going to happen if she keeps on avoiding you. but if you really want to know the reason why she keeps on avoiding you, then you don't have much of a choice. i say "corner her"... anyway, here are my tips:1. you can do it the easy way and, well, corner her. like if you know when will her class end and surprise her by showing up there unexpected. in that way she can't really avoid you or run on the opposite direction. plead to her that you just want to talk to her and that you want to know why she suddenly avoided you. tell her that just a few minutes will do, and that you just really need some clarifications.2. you can do it the long way by sending a request to a friend of hers. tell that friend that you want to talk to her but the friend has to keep your anonymity. tell that friend to tell her that "someone wants to talk to you. someone whom you know" or something along those lines. just remember you have to be an anonymous person, that she might get interested in meeting you up without having any suspicions that it was you who wants to talk to her.3. or you could always do it electronically. and i mean online, like email her. plead your case and tell her that it is really disturbing you that much. of course this might be a hopeless case, but there's no harm in trying.now about the part when you're already talking to her. just keep in mind that you want answers. whatever her answer might be, you just have to keep yourself ready at most times. ask her why she keeps on ignoring you. the rest i'm leaving to you. just don't make the situation too uncomfortable for her, or she might be not be telling you the truth. whether she wants closure or you want closure, it's really up to both of you.hope that helps.
  15. actually he asked for it. salamangkero wasn't against his beliefs. he was just merely giving out some information that lacked in juice's statement. and with juice acting like such, it felt like he didn't understood the idea quite well and just labeled salamangkero as "close-minded". you have a point here. humans have evolved from a lower being to a higher one and as that happens, the body processes change to make the human "adopt" to their environment. if you believe in evolution like i do (i don't want to argue with religious people, so please...), the ancestor of man had tails at first. but as time passed the tail wasn't of any use and as the evolutionary process continues, the tail shrinks to a tailbone which makes what a human looks like right now. the point of this one is that the canine teeth's function is for tearing (maybe meat, or maybe veggies) food. the shapes of our teeth have some relevance and it's a matter of what has evolution done to change a human. anyway, i'm making this out of topic already so i need to zip my mouth
  16. it wouldn't probably have a side effect. it's more like those aromatherapy soaps, or those soaps that use natural materials. i'm not sure about medicinal effects of the product. one site described it just for aromatherapy purposes. it gives you that same feeling when you drink coffee or something
  17. who said i was angry? jeez. and please, i've probably been here longer than you. gathering hosting credits is probably just second in my list to do here in trap. and if you don't have time for "junk" like this, then why do you keep on replying then? in fact, why did you post in the first place? if you can't handle criticism well, then you shouldn't have acted hastily in the first place.
  18. the wrap is for the product not to get wet. whether it is shipped on air, land or sea, the surrounding air in a package can have moisture. and moisture, when gets collected it turns to droplets of water and since the product that they shipped to you is very sensitive, it has to be handled with care, not to let it get wet.
  19. okay... so your post depends on your mood for that day? uh... sure sure. just because someone comments about your post that is opposite to yours, doesn't necessarily mean they're "close-minded". if you read salamangkero's post properly, his post wasn't implying anything about him being firmly set on his beliefs. he was just merely being informative and that he was correcting some of your post. what's so wrong with that? so i guess we could all blame the mood for spoiling the day huh?
  20. hm... i don't really find it very much believable. as far as i can remember, money isn't as easy as that. the more i think about it the more i believe it's just a scam
  21. well not really. gender-wise, only men do that. it's in their nature. women, on the other hand are nurturers, life-protectors and life-creators. but of course i won't go talking about feminism to you. well if NASA did publish a news article like that, then most probably it is true. although i believe that the original poster of this thread probably misinterpreted some information.
  22. and runs off just like that. can't accept criticism huh?first of all, doctors probably don't know that you're a vegan. after all when you look at two people, one being a carnivore and one being a vegan, there's not really much of a difference on the way they look. it's not like there's a banner overhead that says "hey i'm a vegan". doctors say that because it is what they think the best diet for people that do eat meat. you could have at least mentioned to your doctor that you're a vegan and that he should give out advice on getting alternatives to get your dose of protein. after all, you're not considered healthy if you don't have enough nutrients to supply your body. there are a lot of foods that are not meat and can provide you with protein.with regards to the topic, i sort of can't connect it to the first post of this thread. although vitamin b12 is a derivative of what people need to stay healthy, it doesn't necessarily mean it's only for vegans. from the post itself, it's mentioned that b12 is necessary for proper blood cell creation, that vitamin 12 deficiency would lead to certain complications, so it means that it should also apply to non-vegans. the topic would have been clearer if the first post was about some trivia on vegans and vegan diet.
  23. he probably needed to hide that one because he's a celebrity but seriously, i think the concern is that he thinks people would judge him when they find out about the relationship. but of course, that's just a showcase of weakness of character. if you really do love the person, there's really no sense of denying of sorts.
  24. actually i've read about the toothpaste technique from some other site before. the technique only works on light scratches, those that you can barely see. deep scratches, however, will make the cd/dvd less readable, thus making it useless. i've tried that but it doesn't work.you didn't mention metal polisher. i've tried that. they said it works but it didn't work in mine.i don't know about the other stuff. and certainly that thing you said that can only be bought in england, doesn't help those that are not in england.
