  1. i'm kinda back and forth with this movie. i mean i am a superman fan and i've watched most of the late christopher reeve's superman movies and i guess a part of me cannot accept yet another superman. i did not like tom welling as the kid hero, i barely watched the series at all. now that the movie has a new guy, i'm kinda sceptical about it. but then again, let's see. when i have time, or when the dvd's released.
  2. i would be able to use wireless soon. that's cool. the only place i can get wireless connection is at school. and since my mom has just bought a laptop with wireless connection, i would be able to use it at school for my thesis. that's cool. hehe.
  3. i am a notepad programmer so i guess i use notepad in most of my projects in school. i don't have anything against ide's, it's just that i find the notepad easier when i program. sure i use ide's when i'm in a hurry, and they give all the help you need, i particularly like the drop-down menus whenever i type some constructors and stuff.i also use photoshop, but since our pc got reformatted recently and my cd installer got destroyed, i'm currently holding on to gimp. it's not as elegant as photoshop, but for the purpose of editing a picture, it serves its purpose.
  4. hmm... might try that one of these days, once i get enough time, that is. my pc at home is getting way too old, the drive is getting too outdated. right now my problem include bad sectors (which i know would be a pain in the neck once it multiplies in the hard drive), viruses and spywares, and of course a limited internet access. (i don't like cafes that much, but i have no choice because of school).tsk. later peeps.
  5. but what if you want to protect multiple directories? does this apply to the subdirectories under the directory which the file is placed? i would probably use it for my hosting account here at trap...speaking of that... gonna get more points.... i'm running out of days, and i still don't have a connection at home. tsk. i don't know why my parents keep on restricting me when it comes to the internet.
  6. well, i use google talk for academic reasons. it's the only way we can communicate with our prof in my major class.
  7. i personally like motorola over nokia, but since my motorola phone got destroyed, i'm stuck with my brother's nokia phone.
  8. haha. well, at least you don't have a website that runs on free hosting. this is my next post since the last week of may. i don't have connection at home so maintaining my points is kinda hard.
  9. if i'm not mistaken, they have to check if your site meets the standards before they can give you an account for adsense.
  10. could this be a real thing that applies to your life? if it is, then this stuff is serious. but if its not...i think the reward is not enough, haha, just kidding. it would be hard since the person is a friend, but i'd rather figure out for myself if what he said was really true, and turn him in myself. if he asks for me not to turn him in, i'll say whether or not it's intentional, he has to accept the fact that he has done something wrong, and maybe, just maybe, that the charges that would be filed against him would be diminished.but why in the world is he bringing a gun?
  11. honestly, what i did was i had to find a crack for the app to work, so yeah, the virus is now gone. i've ran out of options, and obviously reformatting and reinstalling windows on my pc was not an option for me, so there.
  12. i've found a software that was able to detect the virus. it's called xoftspy. the only problem was, it was able to detect the virus via free scan, but that's just about it. i have to pay like 40 dollars or something for me to be able to remove the threat on my pc, which translates to me buying the application in the first place...what a bummer....
  13. well, at least you have hardware problems... i'm currently experiencing the worst virus attack since i was in kinder.... and my antivirus application can't even fix it!!!why is this happening to me now?! i have so many things to do and i have a deadline to catch!!!!
  14. i've disabled system restore and ran the scans again, but the scanners didn't detect the services.exe virus. @_@ this is insane! i don't know what to do anymore!!!.... oh and one more thing, the link you gave... they're requiring me to get their product...
  15. but it says that the services.exe is located under the %system%/services folder. the services.exe that i was talking about a while back is located under the d:\windows\ folder. the website you gave said that the %system% in xp prof is the \windows\system32, as i've mentioned in my post.would that link refer to the same services.exe? because i don't want to risk doing anything, especially if it requires editing the registry, until i've seen a closer solution.
  16. so i woke up earlier to do some research on the net. i turned on my pc and suddenly my microsoft antispyware (thank goodness!) keeps popping up a message that says "microsoft antispyware has blocked a possible windows trojan d:\windows\services.exe from being running". i've searched it on the internet and most of the sites that i saw said that it was a virus, since the true services.exe is located inside the windows\system32\folder not the windows\ folder.so i've run updates on avg, ad-aware, spybot and microsoft antispyware and ran scans simultaneously. it fixed some "possible hijack" attempt on my pc (some errors, i guess), but it didn't fix this problem. in fact, the first three applications doesn't even detect this virus. microsoft antispyware detects it at startup but never detects it while scanning.the only hope i have right now is the fact that microsoft antispyware blocks it everytime it tries to run, but i'm worried that sooner or later it might affect my pc. i really need help right now because the entire time i'm supposed to be researching was consumed by the scans that i've done. it's already morning and i haven't done a single thing in my work.i've seen a similar instance that it occured to someone over the internet, but the details on how to fix it was not shown because i have to be a member (and pay them) in order for me to see the solution. and please, please, please don't tell me to reformat my pc and reinstall windows, because it's not really the best option that i can think of right now, and besides, as i've said, i've wasted too much time just on scans alone. this is driving me nuts and i'm already having a headache...please help me!
  17. my parents (especially my dad) always tell me that my very first alcoholic drink was beer. now how would my parents know that? because my dad gave me a drink of some of his beer when i was still young, and if i can remember well, he said that i was just a baby when he gave me a drink. what a parent huh?i don't know if it's true at all, but when i was a a bit younger, my brothers and i usually mix beer with coke whenever my dad and his friends/our neighbors come to our house for a gathering. it was just for fun, but i like the taste of it. somewhat like a rootbeer of some sort. but i don't like the taste of beer. i've had beer, but i don't drink more than a mug.but now, i'm more into wines and champagnes (i prefer champagne more). i'm not a connossieur (forgot the spelling) because i'm not yet to the point where i'm so much into wines that i want to know how each taste different from the others. right now, all i know is i prefer them more than any other alcoholic drink.ps. i don't know what side effects are caused by letting a baby drink beer or any alcoholic drink for that matter, so if anyone knows, please tell me. i want to know if i have encountered such side effects. haha... no, i'm serious....
  18. i think can relate to that. there's always the pressure of the last days in school where all the projects and exams pile up and make things worst. my usual case often involves my pc crashing at the last minute without me being able to retrieve/save all the work i've done (that's why some of the posts here often have the issue of my computer having viruses, malwares, etc). you shouldn't blame yourself too much if you don't do well on a certain subject. there's a part of you that says "i have to make a good project on this subject because it's the subject that i'm weak at. it's the only thing i can do to make up for the low grades that i get". and it shows how much effort you make by the time you consume on just one project or assignment, and i give you credit for that. you just fear that for some reason, if you don't do well, then it's over. don't be too hard on yourself. for starters, you should at least commend yourself for the effort. it will give you that boost that you need to get things going. sometimes, people get tired easily because they feel they aren't doing any progress. don't let the bad things get into you. yeah there are times that you fail, but this should give you the drive to strive harder next time. having an optimistic outlook on things can really help. and if you succeed, you should give credit to yourself, give yourself a pat on the back for that. the credit that you receive will also give you that extra boost that you need. but don't let the praise get too much into your head. sometimes, when we think we've done well, we assume that we've done enough, and this may lead to a downward spiral, something that's not good. everything should be done in moderation. well, better late than never. there's always time for improvement. and like what you've said, you should stop those habits and divert on stuff that matter. i've read from a book that in order for something to become instilled in your mind as part of your natural routine, you have to do it several times, something like a ritual or something. this is for you to get used to doing these stuff that are new to you. and when it comes to focusing. there are a lot of ways for you to be able to focus on things that you need to do. the internet has a lot of things to offer, you could search one yourself. my advise would be, try to lessen the things that might distract you, i.e., turn off the tv, radio, player, but sometimes music can help so you could rule that one out. if you're going to do more than one task, try to plan on which task is needed to be done ahead of the others, taking into consideration some factors, for example, if you don't do well on a subject, you could prioritize this first to give yourself more time on this subject. some people advise that, but i would rather advise the opposite. if you think you don't do well on a subject, you should finish first all the other tasks that you think could be finished the least amount of time, in this way, you could allot more time on the subject that you least excel into. kinda ironic and weird in a sense, but that's what i usually do, because when i do the former, i usually scramble a lot and in turn, i don't learn much on that subject. yeah i know planning is kinda hard, i'm not really into planning but it really does help. by planning, you can only focus on one task alone and not worry too much on the other tasks. if you have free time, the library is the place to be. i know people are gonna disagree by saying "the library makes me feel asleep", but a quiet place can help you focus a lot. if you don't have that kind of time to go to the library, you could always do it at home in your room. an organized room would be preferable and would help you more to focus, rather a filthy room. i'm not a sports buff either. in fact i don't even play a single sport (if biking doesn't count). i would only play one if it's necessary or required, just like the p.e. classes in school. i don't really think your parents think about you that way. i think he's just encouraging you to try on those sports because he thinks you can do it. it's not about forcing you to do it, he probably just wants you to try. and if you really can't, then i think he would understand. and besides, if the sport is something that you don't want to do, then you shouldn't force yourself, and hate him for letting you try it. you could explain to him that you don't want to play, and that you have other things in mind. i think you should try to eliminate that kind of mentality. first of all, you shouldn't put yourself below others and think that "you're just winning because your opponents are weaker". it reflects the way you think about yourself. sports is not all about competition, it can also be something that can be fun. ---i have to cut this for the moment. i have to restart my pc... ..........continuation.... sorry, i had to run scans because i had encountered some problems with something.... if you think your coach is just wanting all the glory that comes with winning, think again. it's not for him, it's for the team's and for the school. he's pushing you as a player because he wants you to work yourself out so you could help the team win the games. who doesn't want to win? may it be a sport that requires a lot of effort so the team can win, or just a sport that is part of having fun, winning would give someone that extra confidence, and losing gives someone that drive to strive harder, and the humility to accept defeat and be sport about it. since you asked for advise, i think the only thing that i can give you at the moment is to start working on yourself first. i think your judgement is being clouded by your attitude towards yourself and towards others. sometimes we act first before we think, and the consequences of those actions more often than not, hurt those that are around us and could backfire to us. think about it.
  19. for real? darn! this operating system that i'm currently been using has been installed just recently, and now i have to reinstall it again? is there any other way? because i really don't want to do those re-installing stuff all over again. it's taking too much of my time already.
  20. i've ran updates on all of my antivirus and antispyware applications. i've ran scans using avg, spybot search and destroy, ad-aware se personal and microsoft antispyware. the scans gave me outstanding results and i believe that the computer is now ok.but there's a new problem. i don't know if i'm just having delusions or something, but my browsers are totally going nuts. i'm currently researching some things on the internet for school purposes, using my mozilla browser and whenever i try right-clicking on an image to save/copy it to my computer, the browser hangs and ends up not responding. i've tried it several times on mozilla, but failed. i used internet explorer but whenever i type something on the address bar and press enter, nothing happens. the browser doesn't load the webpage at all. i had to use the yahoo! button of my internet explorer to connect to yahoo, then access other websites from there. but when i try saving images like what i did on mozilla, the browser hangs as well. i dunno what happened but i think the browsers got affected or something.but that's not the only thing that bothered me. when i was able to copy the contents of a webpage via the ctrl+c shortcut and paste it on a microsoft word document, and try to save the file, the document fails to save and the application hangs as well.i really don't know what's happening, but i'll try to restart the computer hoping that everything's just a simple loading failure or something like that. i'll run tests again later, but i'm consuming so much time just on scanning alone, i can't even finish my work. school's around the corner and i have a deadline to finish.i'm starting to think computers are hating me as much as i regret taking up a computer course... geez. shoot me now...
  21. i dunno if i would have the urge to tell anyone my secrets. i mean, if i did that, i would probably go berserk if that secret goes out. even though i'm in a forum where no one knows me, there would still be a chance (an awfully greater chance) that somebody in this forum would have met me somewhere else over the internet.and besides, secrets are meant to be kept to yourself unless you're already free of that fear that comes along when the secret has already been out (or you've come to have peace with yourself). if i don't even want to entrust my secret to a closest friend, why would i reveal it to someone whom i just met? moreover, the internet isn't really a safe place nowadays. i mean, for all we know, somebody could be using our identities for their evil ways.but then again, that's just the paranoid me. and, like what my "location" says, if i tell you, then i'll have to kill you. oops... i hope i don't get a warning on that... well, it's just a joke. forgive me if that would offend anyone.
  22. i've scanned the pc using microsoft antispyware before i slept earlier. when i installed it, i got a message from the microsoft antispyware that there's an application running (forgot the name) that is unrelated to any p2p networking and said that the application isn't necessary to be running (it is by default OFF), so it said that i should turn it off. i turned it off and glad that the annorying warnings aren't popping up anymore. i'm keeping my fingers crossed though. i'm hoping the computer's totally fine now.but just as the same, i have to run several checks to make sure the malware is gone. gotta go peeps!
  23. oh. ok. i'll try it later. i just installed a copy of microsoft antispyware and i've scanned my pc again. unfortunately it didn't detect anything, so my last resort would be that hijackthis application. but right now i have to sleep. it's past witching hour and i'm still awake.later peeps!
  24. sorry bout the previous message. kinda experienced some glitch with the add reply button. anyway, i've read the tutorial again, but there's one thing i'm quite unsure of doing. and that's using the hijackthis application. i'm not even sure if that's safe to use. i've ran the scan on both spybot and adaware but the warning still pops up. geez. help!
  25. i've tried doing both scans on spybot and ad-aware. and so far, i'm not getting any more of the warning. i'm keeping my fingers crossed though. even though i've ran 2 scans, just to make sure...wait... i just got the warning again... grr... this is bad.be right back.
