  1. please use quotes for the instructions. those are taken from the wordpress website.with regards to the question, i haven't encountered any problems installing wordpress in my hosting account, nor with the upgrades. check your files, or to make this easier, reupload everything and re-do all the steps. make sure to follow everything along with the creation of the database for your wordpress installation.
  2. the reason why it's 30 years because the life expectancy of humans are short. men on the average die around the age of 70-80, women die on a higher age. and if they ever come out alive after the years they've spent in jail, i believe they're old enough and probably tired already so they can't really commit a very heavy crime. it's a bit naive, but i don't think the elders aren't that much capable of commiting crimes any more. i'm actually quite sympathetic of those old ones that spend their lives in jail. well the competency of the security people is tested if they can't prevent the prisoners from escaping. but it's not enough reason to kill. i guess the part where people should be vigilant in protecting themselves comes in. like what i've said before, it's not the medieval times or the witch hunt era where people are accused and easily punished through ways that could be called inhumane. it's true that the main reason for putting criminals in jail is to keep them in check. but i don't believe that the government is wasting money by letting them stay in prison. in our country, prisons are one of the worst places, because it's so cramped. you'd see the criminals and you can't imagine the agony they're in. some of them can't even sleep because there are no space to lie onto. but i don't think it's enough reason to kill. staying in a prison like that is enough torture for someone to get into his senses.
  3. you know that it takes someone with guts to kill or punish a murderer. in the past, those who do the execution wear masks in order to rid themselves of the guilt (if not all) of killing someone guilty. these days, punishments for the guilty are less strict (for lack of a better term). the punishment given to these criminals are the most "just", because they know they are also messing with people's lives. it's not as simple as shouting "burn at the stake!" or "off with his head!". i believe the justice system still has it's bases planted on the virtues of whatever religion they belong to. they believe that taking people's lives is not the best way to give the punishment, that it's their god who will lay the judgment. some people just think that they're no different if they killed these criminals themselves.and i forgot to mention that we're talking about the guilty ones, not the innocent ones who are accused wrongly. i guess this is one of the reasons why what you're trying to say here can't work effectively. again, it's just the point of messing with people's lives.
  4. these kinds of people really make me sick and reading your story makes it infuriating. i've been there too, but it wasn't physical, it's more like they keep on teasing me and i'm like the center of their jokes and they always laugh at me. it's hard really. i guess the extent of damage depends on what kind of bullying you receive. i guess i'm a bit lucky compared to that kid you saw. physically harming someone would have psychological effect too, so aside from the life-threatening punches and kicks, he also develops this inferiority complex because he just lets these kids beat him up without a fight. i guess if you're the same age or height as that kid, it's natural to be afraid and hide somewhere safe. and it takes great courage to stand up and help someone and defend them against bullies like these. don't be too hard on yourself if you weren't able to help. at least you were kind enough to lend him a hand after he got beat up. there are still ways for you to be able to help, like going to his parents and telling them what had happened. even though the police could help, i don't think they're the best people to approach with this problem. instead of going to the cops, you could approach someone who has more control with these kids, like a teacher, or a principal of the school. in that way, they could be kept in check.
  5. lol, i thought this was about SM going to jail hahaha. and the title implies "great spammer". i find it a bit weird though. i mean sending a spammer to jail? that's something new. but then again, i've had annoying spam on my gmail recently. and it's directed on the inbox and not on the spam box. i don't know why i keep getting that though. saying that i am a beneficiary of someone i don't even know
  6. this one i totally agree with. i think it is a trend amongst the newbies (if not all) whose primary motivation in joining the forum is to get a free hosting. i, myself, am an example. i think i've argued with someone before here who accused me of posting because i wanted to earn credits. that's partially true. if you've been in trap for the longest time, your stay here is not merely limited to just posting for the sake of earning credits for your site. and your other reason would be is to know other members more.
  7. well since you've clarified that one, i would probably agree slightly. the problem is that, the rest of the posts (meaning the succeeding posts after the 3rd post), won't be counted anymore, and you're telling the members that the 4th post onwards is like a "paying it forward to trap" posts, to maintain the forum's interactivity. by doing that, you're doing the opposite, which is limiting the interactivity in the forum. you're supposed to encourage them to talk a lot in the forum despite the length of the post. and besides, we already have mods and spam patrollers (like me *ehem*) to clean up the mess here, so no need to worry about the short posts and one-liners and the spammers.trap is a mutual environment, we members post to maintain the interactivity here, thus the forum and its creators benefit from us, and in return, we get free hosting. i believe that there's no need to disrupt that flow.cheers!
  8. um like what i've mentioned in the shoutbox, it's quite ironic that you want the poster to improve the quality of the post by limiting the credit he's going to get. most of us are here for credit (at least those who are hosted), it would be pointless if you cut down the reward they get for posting a lengthy post. by doing that, you're actually discouraging them to post more (whether lengthy or not).writing tutorials would give one lots of credits, by limiting them down to 3, what happens to the rest that they're supposed to get? that would be unfair. that's the same for those who are inside a heated debate in the debates section where a lot of people really speak their minds out. imagine, you're debating with someone, but you're only entitled to put a post equivalent to 3 credits. you're already limiting their post length, which is the "ironic" part of your suggestion.
  9. are you serious? personally i don't like it. what's your reason? i have to hear your reason first.
  10. jl, he was referring to the spammers on ym. i believe he meant that he was being send a lot of messages (flooding) by some unknown user. he told me before that he can't even go on invisible mode to avoid the spam messages. try this one. i hope it helps Block YM Spams
  11. aww... well good luck on your new hosting and hope you'd have the time to visit us here once in a while.
  12. reading thru the posts, i noticed that most of you mentioned microwaves. we all know that heating food in a microwave oven isn't called cooking at all. :)anyway, my worst probably is when we had to shift from cooking rice on a rice cooker to a stove top. i've cooked rice on a stove top before but ever since we had the rice cooker, i have totally forgotten about the steps in cooking the rice on the stove top. apparently, we had to save electricity because the rice cooker uses too much of it. anyway, everything started well, i placed the right amount of rice with the required amount of water and waited 'til it boiled. once it boiled, i stirred it constantly, and when all the water has evaporated, i got this lump of rice cake. i later realized that once the water boiled, you only have to stir it once and leave it 'til the water has evaporated, just like in cooking pasta. to say the least, i wasted half a kilo of rice.the funniest would be (well this is not mine, it's our helpers... we had to tell her what she did wrong) was when our helper was cooking our dinner. my younger brother volunteered to cook so our helper could do other stuff. our helper was assisting my brother during the start of the session. when my brother turned to me so we could talk while the pan was getting hot, our helper splashed cooking oil on the pan. to our surprise, she splashed a cup-full of cooking oil, when all we needed was just a tablespoon. good thing my brother was able to transfer most of the oil to an oil holder. i was horrified because imagine if that was the way she was cooking all our dishes, then it would mean she's feeding us oil in every meal.
  13. there's a way for you to install windows without a cd installer or cd drive. you could create a boot disk from a diskette. there is a download-able file that creates a boot disk on a diskette. i think you need around 4 diskettes if i'm not mistaken. i've tried it before but it's so slow because we all know that reading from diskettes would take forever. usually it's not advisable to use this way of installing windows. you might want to get/borrow a cd drive so you could install windows in your drive.good luck.
  14. dreams are usually representations of the subconscious. the dreams that you see in your sleep is actually taken from your subconcious but the mind "candy-coats" it into something that is more acceptable to us. candy-coats meaning that the mind changes the information taken from your subconcious into something that is less disturbing (for lack of a better term). that is why there are people who interpret dreams, because by interpreting them, they would understand the subconcious, unlocking mysteries on a person's mind. dreams are also a way for humans to cope up with unresolved matters during their waking state. in your case, you've been so obsessed with getting this "thing" that you really want, but you can't. the obsession becomes a habit, you always put it in your mind until it becomes something that is almost natural to you. this "obsession" gets pushed into your subconcious. then when you sleep and dream, that information from your subconcious becomes your dream. sometimes you dream that you've already gained that "thing" that you've always wanted. it's because the dream tells you that "this is what you want" and that it would appease you and calm you because you have been stressed out with obtaining this "thing" during your waking state. did you know that you could make yourself remember your dream? all you need to do is not to let yourself become too jerky or have some unneccessary movements before you wake up. dreams usually happen during the last hours of sleep (before you wake up). the main reason why people seem to forget their dreams or believe they didn't dream, is that when they wake up, their bodies create a lot of movement. these movements prevent the mind from processing the dream (and putting it into "storage"). one way of allowing you to remember the dream is to train yourself not to jerk up or jolt suddenly upon waking up, or any other unnecessary movements. it's like letting the story of your dream to continue on playing while you're on that half-awake, half-asleep moment in your sleeping state.
  15. i can't remember the very first anime that i watched, but it could be one of these: BT'X, Zenki, Flame of Recca, Dragon Ball, YuYu Hakusho. right now, i am currently watching Naruto. I've finished Yakitate Japan, GateKeepers, Magic Knight Rayearth. well i've watched others, i just can't remember the some of the titles, and some i haven't really watched all the episodes. my classmates and friends recommend Bleach (although i am so-so about it), Death Note (which i'll be downloading when i get a new hard drive, i've already read the manga).
  16. hmm... the growing evil society of trap. someone should set up a counter for this society... or else,RUN FOR YOUR LIVES PEOPLE!
  17. lol. i never thought someone would post about american idol in this forum. after more than a year of being in this forum, i almost thought the phrase "american idol" is taboo here. hahaha. oh well. go blake!
  18. lol, the evil group is getting popular. getting bigger by the moment. :o

  19. lol you're part of the evil group too huh?

  20. rule the world? over my dead body! ha!

  21. yes i am currently using FireFTP to upload files in my Xisto account. it's amazing. it's very simple and easy to use. i first used SmartFTP until it expired. i knew about FireFTP way back when i was searching for a nice add-on to my Mozilla. i remember it correctly, but since i was looking for something else, i just scrolled down fast. after my ftp client got expired, this plug-in was the first thing that came into my mind.
  22. well you really can't expect everything to be taken from the manga/anime. the actor who played L did a great job, the one who played Light/Raito didn't. the movie staff did wrong when they casted that guy to play the death note handler. i've seen part of the movie, but i didn't watch the full length because the translation was bad. part of the story has been edited so don't expect a full copy of the anime/manga on the movie.
